Battery Usage and Battery Usage Graph error? - LG Thrill 4G

My battery graph is acting really crazy. It started happening immediately after the GB update... Is there a way to fix it?
P.S. - its actually been unplugged for 14 hours so far with really little usage.

Can't see the image, and we'll need a bit more information to provide you any sort of guidance. I have a similar situation where my battery information doesn't update for a while, I know why mine is doing that though, and I'd love to help diagnose yours, but please tell us:
What ROM are you running?
What baseband are you running? (If you don't know this right off the bat, we may be able to discern from the ROM you are using, especially if you're using stock)
Any task killers installed on the phone? If so, have you tried switching them off to see if a background process is being wrongly killed?

You said something about hardly using it? I find that when I'm not actively using mine (no app, just sitting locked on my desk) it doesn't update the battery graph, it's caused some weird displays like the power level suddenly jumping or dropping to a significantly different level (green to red in one instance) even though the battery percentage was correct according to the graph. Nothing like yours though... I'd check into the battery, or getting a replacement phone.

lg botched the battery usage graph in gingerbread i think samnos roms have a fix for it im not 100% sure though its not your battery my graph does this to but battery is just fine.

Anything that is V21e or based on it will fix that problem. It is a common bug on any custom and stock ROM older than v21e

New ICS UK official release battery drain

Manually upgraded over stock non rootable CarPhone Warehouse GB rom using PC Odin.
Im getting very bad batrery drain. On the stock GB rom my phone would easily last two days with moderate use. Now with the ICS rom its draining pretty fast. I took it off the charger approximately 1.5 hours ago and with little to no use Im already at 90%. Same stock settings and same apps. Only difference is I am now using Apex Launcher.
I noticed wifi constantly on even during deep sleep but i have now configured it to only be on while plugged in.
Ive pulled he battery out for a few minutes and that hasnt helped. One last thing im going to try is revert back to GB and then wipe, clear cache and upgrade again...
Any advice/help would be appreciated..

I´ve had the same wifi problem, german stock ICS though, weird enought it seems to happen just with my home´s router. I´ve checked in other places and all was fine. A couple of users here changed their routers seemed to solve the issue. See if this is of any help....

Yeah, i updated to the lpy ROM when it was released and found the lack of deep sleep issue causing a problem. The above fix sorted it and I've had no problems since, performance has been noticeably better and battery life has been just as good, if not slightly better, than under ginger bread

Takes longer to analyse bro.
In those 24 min abnormal battery drain?
Best to check battery percentages.
Next to these two apps you can check badassmonitor or equavalent, they have also good measuring for actual battery usage per app.
Analysing sucks thought, totally not user friendly.

I could be wrong but it seems as if my wifi is still constantly active...battery drain is pretty bad...i think im going to revert back to GB, perform a full wipe and cache cleane and re install...
I did an "factory data reset" before and straight after i upgraded to the official UK ICS.
I did read if you use the alarm clock, it keeps your phone awake, even after you disable it, other apps most likely do the same.
Below is a picture over night, I always manually enable/disable wifi/bluetooth/gps as have yet to find an app that works correctly.
John.
Yeah tipically you would be looking for the following:
If your device goes into deepsleep at all. (on battery that is)
You can check this with cpu spy.
If it doesnt check the kernel wakeloks (high level) and the partial wakeloks (zoomed into detail level, best level for troubleshooting).
Anything there that runs often and long is probably causing the deepsleep insomnia. I wish Android would be better in able to determine what really influences your phones battery.
Next to this, some apps you can change synch settings (within apps itself, e.g. facebook etc) Thats just a typical change. every sync uses energy, and wakes up device.
Another possible check is the power on of with airplane mode.
Another tip is unchecking the sounds when touching touchscreen (a bug from the old days of android, and they never fixed) this is a major wakelock causer and by default turned on.
I usually get 4~5 hours nonstop onscreen time after tweaking it (without setting to much stuff of, otherwise I could have gotten a normal phone lmao)
after factory reset and data wipe on your galaxy note please calibrate the battery both ways...horizontal and gyroscope.
This will definitely help your phone better monitor the battery and bring it to normal status..

I tried out the steps mentioned in above link and I think its working for me.
After upgrading my note to UK ICS release the battery is drainig like anything.
Its like 1% every minute .
After applying steps mentioned in the url its not draining that much. MAy after some more recharge cycles it will be more stable.

Galaxy note over heating (System UI hogging CPU)

Hi,
I've a G-Note running ICS-4.0.3 , i recently noticed my phone is getting really hot and resetting automatically at times, on closer investigation i see 'CPU spy' data showing my phone running constantly at 1400Mhz mode!!! wanting to find which process is doing this, i downloaded watchdog lite and noticed that 'System UI' process is running at 49% approx CONSTANTLY, killing it re-spwans the process!! any idea whats causing this?? Please Help!!
Not rooted, never flashed, on original upgrade, have nova launcher, use it rarely. no other launchers installed.
Restart fixes this sometimes, sometimes not.
Thanks in advance,
Ramgo.

Not that i can think of as a problem, been happening for a while now, could be any of the app! i have like 200 installed!!
Now its not system UI, its android syste, badass battery monitor shows kenel to have taken most of the battery (which seems mostly loop task, is this bad) and then android core process.

well try to remember from which app on this issue showed up.I had battery drain problem turned out it was because of an app that I had installed. So I unistalled it and my problem went away.Yours should be easy to spot try unistalling the recent apps or the ones you're suspicious of and see when you get deepsleep.

I infact got deep sleep the whole day, 15 hrs just 10 percent drained! this problem has been occuring intermittently, deep sleep is still happenning, but when the phone is screen ON, its in the highest mode.
Hmm things got complicated.Like I said if everything used to be normal then all of a sudden this problem began then it should be an app I suppose?!Just like my case.
Install OS Monitor and see what's hogging your cpu maybe you can pinpoint the application if that's the case.
did anybody have a problem with Gsam battery monitor after it was upgraded from Badass battery monitor??? i was looking at it and was showing 100% battery drain due to application ( 0% for screen and phone radio)!! i have uninstalled it and seems fine i guess! atleast for now! charging now and its in the expected 200Mhz state.

Yes will do that!! Thanks! read my comment below, i think GSam Battery monitor submits some task or makes some query to the kernel which makes it to go in a loop, hence the android system seems to be using more CPU and not battery monitor itself

Hello,
I'm having a similar problem. When my Note is in standby sometimes it overheats without any apparent reason and battery drains very fast.
I haven't been able to trace the origin of this problem. I'm running on ICS 4.0.3 stock and no ROOT.

Have you installed any kind of launcher on your phone? If you have, do try to uninstall it for now. Install BetterBatteryStats, turn off any data connection.. 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth.. Remove any Live wallpapers(just use a static one), Uninstall any apps that connect or syncs online.
The last thing I could advice you is turn off Airplane Mode (at night), charge up your phone to 100% and just leave it for a day. Check back on BetterBatteryStats after on what apps/wakelocks is triggering the overheating.

Lot's of work... I'll have to find some time to try all of that.
Thanks.
Early last week my Note started to reboot whitout any apparent reason. It happened 2 to 3 times a day. Specially in the morning when battery was still above 60%.
The overheating also happened from time to time but not everyday.
Saturday I figured I had to do something extreme to end this.
First I downgraded to a pre-rooted GB rom. Afterwards wiped the GB rom. Then upgraded to stock ICS. Everything worked out fine and was very easy to perform, thanks to all the guides available on XDA.
Last of all I rooted the ICS.
Until now the Note hasn't overheated or rebooted again.
I really thought it would be harder to do all this. But now I think it would take me about 20 min to do all these procedures.
Thanks to all the people that posted the guides on XDA.

I'll take that as a joke.
Three days in and still no unwanted reboots or overheating.
Gents if you have nothing constructive to provide in assisting the users with real help, please refrain from off topic mindless humor. Thank you.
A week after I've re-flashed ICS on my Note, the unwanted reboots have come back.
It must be some app I've installed again or maybe something much worse. I've read lots of threads and was wondering if a custom kernel and a different ROM might solve this problem.
One thing I've noted, the reboots never happen at night only during the day (mid-morning and mid-afternoon).
Any new ideas to help me find the source of this problem?
EDIT:
I'm running on LPY Kernel, so wipe is not an option...

[Q] Battery drain, cant find the cause!!

Gentleman, currently im having a big issue with my S3 Mini.
Some weeks ago, the battery started draining in a really short lapse of time. We are talking of aprox. 12 hourse of low usage (one phonecall, no sms, little whatsapp mesagging, some web sufring). By checking Betterbatterystats, i can confirm that almost 11 hours, the phone screen is off (or maybe 10 hours and a half).
I dont know what to do, i turned on airplane mode, and the problem persits. Changed rom 3 times (4.1.2 to 4.4, to 4.1.2 again), wiped data, cache, system, internal memory, etc..
Betterbatterystats screenshots are ATTACHED TO THE POST!!, to see if you cand find a wakelock, alarm, or something that can be interfering the battery life. (btw, i ruled out that theory since i changed rom and wiped everything so many times, but maybe there is something attached indefinetlely to the phone, really dont know).
The battery itself is the only reason in my mind right now, but the phone is only 9 months old (as well as the battery of course).
One thing that calls my attention, is that the charging time takes 2 hours max, maybe 1 hour and a half. Can the battery be damaged with so little lifetime?
Appreciate your help!!!

i can most certainly say that it's the battery, but don't run out buying a new one, yet. Wait 'till someone else confirms it
i had the same problem half a year ago (mine was also 8-9 months old back then). The phone started rebooting and many weird stuff happened I changed the battery and everything was ok. Now it's acting up again and i might change battery again.

Turn off wifi and reboot that helps sometimes . On the first Screenshot was your wifi always on. On the last Screenshot was your Android OS on the first place. That was the 1GHz bug.
facebook updates
Don't have facebook app (only messenger), and without messenger app, the battery keeps draining.
I red on the internet that the 1ghz bug tends to appear on Cyanogenmod. Only had cyanogenmod 11 for some days, turned back again to the stock rom.
Could this bug affect my phone right now? How can i fix it?
If not, im really thinking of buying a new battery, but the risk of another problem affecting the battery usage from the phone keeps turning me back!
Thanks!!

The battery don't seems to be neither round or thicker, and it don't spins freely.
Have you tried 'telling' the battery how much capacity it has again? (Drain until it automatically shuts down due to flat battery, charge back to 100% while off, switch on, drain again, charge again and use as normal)
Many manufacturers recommend charging when you reach 15-20% during normal use.
Also, have a look at govenors/schedulers if you have a custom ROM installed. Maybe changing combo works better for you, or even changing combo and switching back.

Same for me. When I bought the phone I immediatelly upgraded to 5.0.2. After upgrading, I did a factory reset through Recovery. Android OS and Android System eat up most of the battery, whereas in normal cases it should be screen and standby (and perhaps some fewquently used app).

You are right. And I see that in my xt1032 that still runs on KitKat these wakelocks do not exist. Could this have to do with data wiping? I factory reset the phone from recovery AFTER the 5.0.2 OTA update. AFAIK it fully wipes data and cache.

It does. Install BetterBatteryStats from here and run it for a while. It'll give you details on every wakelock and alarm on the device and how much battery it is using. Then you can use amplify in the tutorial I linked to earlier to configure the wakelocks so they are not consuming as much battery.

Thanks a lot Duck86, but I think that for a brand new phone I should not need to do all these things to get decent battery life. As I said my old xt1032 on kitkat was is to handle two days of significant usage and most of all, if you did not use it the battery did not drain. By the end of the day, battery usage was topped by standby, screen and perhaps an app with frequent use. On top of that, 5.0.2 looks generally unstable compared to the utterly robust 4.4.4 that runs on my xt1032. I get noise and lag in call sounds for example, issues that were not even imaginable on xt1032/kitkat.
So I think I will try to fall back on kitkat. The problem is that I do not know which stock ROM I should install.

Nothing special, depends on what you were doing. To have a clearer view: Load your battery until it's full and let the phone rest for one or two hours. Make some screens than. You can see what kind of wakelocks disturb the sleep mode of the device.
"Who is the guilty?" Motorola?..
Guys you know about the bug with the gps? When you turn on and off the GPS on the stock rom and the GPS remain on and kills your battery until you restart the phone? Took me about 2 weeks to figure out.

I took those screenshoots after a the phone was completely charged. I even tried to turn off the GPS as @zman01 said but it didn't make any difference. What is that RLJ thing?

That actually depends on your usage. Since you are on stock, your battery should be awesome, but weird that it isn't (especially when you said that it is unrooted).
it could be that your battery has finally reached its state of dying. The way to confirm this is to try another ROM, but that is your decision
To answer to your question, it may make the issue go away.

For the sake of troubleshooting, would you like to root your ROM?
If you do, install Towelroot app on your stock (I am assuming 4.3 Jellybean) and root your device. Afterwards head to SuperSU on Google Play and install it. And proceed to updating the su binary to the latest one.
After your root setup is complete, reboot and install Wakelock Detector. Give it a root access and a refresh for the first time.
Allow your Xperia SP to drain its battery like how you would normally use it. After hours, please screenshot the content of the app and upload it here so I can inspect it
if i use my phone with something like wi-fi ,whatsapp .....etc (not heavy apps) how much time my battery must hold it?
thanks.

You might wanna give more details like what apps you got installed, your usage, your brightness level etc. Also wifi, whatsapp does drain battery. How much screen time were you getting before with the same config? How bad's the drain when the screen off? Like someone mentioned above, you could root your phone and try Wakelock Detector to see if something's constantly preventing your phone from going into deep sleep.
Also your battery could be a dud but like you mentioned you haven't had your phone for long so that probably shouldn't the issue but you might want to make sure of that before switching roms. No point rooting/unlocking your phone and flashing a new rom only to find out that the issue still persists but if you wanna try a LP rom nevertheless, you could always give it a shot.
Much like yourself, I am suffering from rather poor battery life myself but my issue is most likely a dying battery. I am telling you this cause I have tried about a dozen roms and it makes zero difference so changing roms isn't a surefire solution. I use Greenify, PowerNap, keep the brightness rather low plus use a bunch of other battery tweaks but it hardly matters. My battery drains rather quickly either way (screen on or off). Even when my phone's in deep sleep, I still get bad drain so check thoroughly before you make the switch.
Did you check which app or feature is draining more the battery?
Sometimes, doing a factory reset will solve the problem. Have you tried it? Make a backup first.
