Yesterday I installed cm9 everything worked well. Today I woke up with no phone signal. I did backup.. I reinstalled cm9 but the problem persists.. auto reboots and no signal. I tried other kernels ROMs and modems but nothing.

Im having the exact same problem... phone continually restarts especially after going to "sleep mode". No network access and google play not working.
The installed ROM's were:
-cm-9.1.0-galaxysmtd
-gapps-jb-20120726-signed
I also tried reinstalling these two, but had the same problems.
Has anyone found the solution to this problem?

So, No I have installed 2 more... and both have the same problem, is it my phone? Do I need to format the partitions better? What I have done is:
-Wiped data/factory reset
-Wiped cache partition
-Reset permission
Installed:
-cm-9.1.0-galaxysmtd
-cm-9-20120826-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd
-cm-7.2.0-galaxysmtd
As well as tried installing the cm-7.2.0-galaxysmtd mentioned above, not in all installations though.
I am located in Iceland... dont think that should play a part in it but perhaps I need to change some settings to find the networks?
Hope someone can help me with this... really is too bad not to have my "good phone" any more

Lucky me! I found a backup of my efs folder... what crazy luck! Im guessing that ClockworkMod Recovery auto backed up the efs folder.
But it was just like you said, the "My Android Solutions" pointed me to this thread which listed more than I expected of my problems.
Currently, my efs folder looks empty, but I think its just unmounted. How would I go about restoring the backup efs folder that I have? In "my android solutions", they suggest copy/paste via Root Explorer, followed by reboot and wipe cache, which I did without luck. The efs dir is still empty and probably because it is read only. There must be a simple solution to this since the backup must have been thought for a reason Do you know how I would copy/paste or restore this efs directory?
I figure its best to create a new thread about this, since this one is very old. For those that want to follow that thread, its right here.
Thanks again for your help

Any Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Wow, lots of answers
I'm surprised with these suggestions,
thanks guys.
I have not ran into this problem myself, and therefore haven't extensively researched it, but in another post I just read someone noted that losing your IMEI sometimes happens when flashing to ICS—and he also said that, if you did not backup your EFS folder, the only way to get it back is by flashing back to Gingerbread.
I am completely oblivious to the validity of what he said, but it's worth mentioning if you're out of ideas. If anything else, it can help you Google a solution.

Hi,
I had the same problem. Absolutly no data from gsm or wifi after a new rom install. I had 2.3.6 installed, i flashed for slim ics 3.2 after rebooting, no baseband. I just download a baseband (you can find it on xda) and flashed it in recovery mode. All is fine now and it took 3 minutes.
Hope it will help.

My SGS can't recognize the sim card and has no IMEI number. I am not running on any rom but the official gingerbread. I have not used this phone for a very long time like about 5 months or more but the last time it works fine. There is also an instance that i activated the flight mode thinking it will fix the problem but it won't deactivate so i factory reset it and still can't recognize my sim. So how do i fix this?
Try to flash any rom which has modem part separately. AFAIK it's problem with modem.

Reflash stock rom
I lost my IMEI when flashing a Jelly Bean ROM and was ready to chuck the phone away. I learned the hard way to always back up /efs
A few people reported that the IMEI can be restored by flashing a stock ROM, so I tried using Odin and these instructions to restore Android 2.3.6
Search for droidangel.blogspot.se/2012/01/i9000xxjvu-android-236-upgrade. I am not allowed to post links on these forums yet.
It worked fine and then I reflashed to CM10 (this time saving /efs first) and the second time it worked.
If all else fails then flashing the stock ROM might work for you. The only frustrating part is waiting half an hour between downloads of the files you need.
ps
Xsenman has all the files you need via the links he gave in the post above, just follow the instruction. The phone is useless as it is so you do not have much to loose. It is possible to hand edit the IMEI files with a hex editor to use a generic Samsung IMEI, but that is a more complex approach as you have to root the phone first.

Read the EFS problems and solutions link, in My Android Solutions to see, how you can make it stick, in case its lost after reboots
it says Restore actual IMEI. This requires that you previously backed up your /efs folder. Restoring this is documented better and more thoroughly elsewhere. I went into my /efs backup folder and copied nv_data.bin to /efs. This is easy with Root Explorer. Press the filename, select copy, navigate back up and to /efs. At the top of the screen, click Mount R/W. Delete everything in there (menu, multi-select, select all, delete). Paste the file. Long press the file, change permissions. Make it 644 (Owner is Read+Write, others are Read), save. Long press again, scroll toward bottom of menu and Change Ownership. Make it Radio (1001) and Radio (1001), save. Click to Mount R/O and exit. Does He mean that i need my original efs what is i didn't saved it?

try to do the same process using Odin or use heimdall, download from My Android Collections
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT.SD card, press power button for a minute, than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card, after flashing and reboot , insert them back
Tips before Flashing:-
Backup all your important files, contacts, SMS, game data, images etc to PC or Ext SD card. or make Nanadroid Backup If you have CWM
Backup your EFS Folder to PC or Ext SD card
Enable USB Debugging on Phone. Touch menu> Settings> Applications> Development>
Charge your battery to more than 50% before you attempt any sort of flashing.
Disable Samsung KIES when using Odin. Kill Kies.exe, KiesTrayAgent.exe, & KiesPDLR.exe using Task Manager on PC
Use only ROM and solution for your model and Wipe x3
I can't restore now my IMEI. I followed this site http://srjraman.wordpress.com/2012/04/07/recover-fake-imei-and-restore-original-efs-galaxy-s/ so i could recover my original IMEI I choose the asia because I'm from the philippines but still no IMEI i tried another one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17587351#post17587351 put does not work also tried to flash to ezbase again but the imei is not recovered. UPDATE
PROBLEM SOLVED:
Go to this thread for the solution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548453
Hi all,
Since yesterday I've been trying to fix my phone.
It doesn't recognize my SIM card anymore.
I think it's my fault and I'll have to go to the Samsung store but I thought someone here might know a solution.
I'm aware that I did something stupid...
So here's the story:
Yesterday I flashed Cyanogenmod 10.1, I installed some apps and I noticed that already 4GB of the 7,42GB was used.
The apps only took 2 GB of the 4GB. So I went to the CWM recovery, scrolled down to mounts and storage and removed all the storage...
Then I flashed Cyanogenmod again (because everything was removed, OS included). And now my SIM card isn't working in my device anymore.
It's for sure that my SIM card isn't the problem, because when I put my SIM card in my old phone, it will work.
After flashing I got a message of Vodafone, which says that they will send the right settings for my phone to use their network.
But that message never arrived at my phone.. I also tried to manually set up the right ''settings'', but that didn't work.
I have tried anything I could. I thought maybe it will work if I install stock rom, but again, it didn't work for me.
I still think it's a software problem, but it might also be a hardware problem.
It might be useful for you to know that I live in Holland. (maybe things are working different here, idk)...
try this
try this ....
using root explorer or file explorer or what else,
open file "factorymode" in efs/factoryApp directory, it probabely says "off", change to "on" (yes "on" is the correct setting to turn it off), then save
reboot
good luck

OK, I'll try this. Thank you for your reply!
I'll come with edit if it was successful or not.
About the IMEI, Yes I have it.
Should I do something with it?
UPDATE (I tried the 1st method):
I went to the thread you linked to called ''[HOW-TO] Enable Three Button Combo [RECOVERY]''.
I don't know exactly what it does.
It enables the ''Three Button Combo'', but I thought I already had this.
I did ''Benzonat0r's way'':
1) I flashed it as PDA
2) After flashing my phone rebooted
3) Nothing changed, still no working calls, sms etc.
Now I think you meant the 2nd method.
Should I do the 2nd method, so I'll get ''a "La'Fleur" branded phone''. ?
Is it safe to flash this Russian ROM?
"I8190 серв. укр.rar" is now downloading.
I'll try this now.. Hopefully it will work.
UPDATE:
I have tried the 2nd method now.
I flashed "I8190 серв. укр.rar". (PIT, PDA and CSC).
After that it didn't boot (which is right, because it's ''La Fleur''.)
So I flashed official firmware (dutch).
After my phone rebooted, I could see immediately that it didn't work
It doesn't show the signal.. and it doesn't have signal.
I'm sure that in my region the signal of Vodafone is OK, because when I put my SIM card in my old phone it works..
I'm sure my SIM Card is fine, it must the software of my phone..
It's my fault, I shouldn't have formatted all in ''mounts and storage'' about 4 days ago...
Another isue is the language which was displayed was Russian...
Normally after I flashed official firmware the language was dutch.
What I'm going to do now is again format all in CWM recovery.
If that doesn't work for me, I'll bring my phone to the Samsung store if no other solutions found..
Anyway, thanks for your help.
If you have any other ideas please tell me.
Thanks in advance!
Greetz, Daniel.
Problem Solved 100%.
Solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548453
The instructions written down below in this thread and post did NOT work!
I solved the problem myself:
I formatted again everything on my phone. (in cwm recovery at 'mounts and storage'.
I flashed stock recovery.
I flashed official firmware.
Done.
No more Russian language issue.
This thread can be closed.
The solution was a lot easier than I thought.
I think a ROM bugged my phone after I formatted all.
So as I said, problem solved.
Thank you for the your replies!

Ok thx i'll check that out!
Earlier today after the installation of a music player from google play(i include the music player part because the incident occurred about 2 hours later), my phone has been doing constant boot loops.
It was working perfectly until it just suddenly blacked out, restarted itself and it makes it as far as samsung logo until it restarts again.
This was a pure stock s3 mini. When i came home, i decided to flash TWRP and change to a reputably working PAC kitkat. However the boot loop persists.
Any ideas? i'm at a loss.
Thanks in advance.

multiple times. Unless TWRP isn't getting the job done, which im sure isn't the case. I read a few threads where people had similar problems and it was suggested to do a battery change so ill try that and see what happens.
Guys i need some answers for a few questions please, or if possible, a link to thread(s).
1. Phone versions: Is there a way to identify your phone's version, example "I8190XXANC2", without having to turn on the phone. Im trying to locate my stock 4.1.2 JB.
2. I found a guide to unbrick soft-bricked S3 mini's. My problem matches one of the characteristics which is rebooting on its own after samsung logo. The guide includes the files, (and the stock ROMs hence why im trying to find my phone's version) and a param_I8190.tar file, which they say is to be used should the phone be stuck in a boot loop. My question here is, should i try the param_I8190.tar with Odin without flashing the stock ROM (i never rooted or customized my phone by the way)?
Again...thanks in advance for any assistance.
Just leaving this here...
The phone is apparently constantly unmounting the system and efs partitions. Whenever i reboot in recovery they are always unchecked. Is that normal?
Also it appears the phone works normally WITHOUT a sim card.....but i obviously need it to work with it.....i am baffled here and desperately need some assistance...any assistance.

EFS is a folder that is saved in our smartphones. It controls IMEI number, serial number, WiFi MAC address, Bluetooth MAC address and many more. it means it's a very important folder and if you delete this folder then you can't call someone, turn on WiFi (because you don't have a MAC address anymore), Bluetooth etc. Only Samsung devices have an efs folder

flash the official firmware through odin. it should fix your problem. if it doesn't work then i don't know what to do else
ok thank you both. i also just found the official stock rom for my firmware. I did some digging myself and i believe i know what the problem is now. It appears the phone is missing it's nv_data.bin file, which i read induces a bootloop if it isn't present.
I will attempt the flash with odin and report in later. Hopefully it works.
It doesn't seem to be a problem with param or cache because the phone bots without sim.
Most likely is't something wrong with baseband or modemfs-folder.
Try to flash stock rom first and report back please.
DON'T do anything with your /efs. i8190 does not have NV_data.bin in efs like most sumsung devices do.

Most likely is't something wrong with baseband or modemfs-folder.
Try to flash stock rom first and report back please.
DON'T do anything with your /efs. i8190 does not have NV_data.bin in efs like most sumsung devices do.

As I said, we don't have a NV_data.bin
What happens when you try to enter recovery and/or download mode?
Hi everybody i need some help
I was installing Lollipop in my S5 Mini (SM-G800H) after a success process, I got the message "Insert Sim Card" and after some research I realize that my IMEI was gone.
I have followed many tutorials but none works, I'm not an expert user and I need help.
I tried the "EFS Professional" program and one "EFS-backup.bat" but none have worked for me. I read something enter the menu "* # 0011 #" but I can not enter the menu to follow the steps of the tutorial.
I really need help I hope that any of you know how to solve the IMEI null.
Maybe someone can upload your EFS folder and use it to get my imei?
I'll be very greatful.
Every device got its own so even if i gave you mine it wont work

My S3 running 4.1.2 had the same problem
did a lot of stuff but to no avail
in the end it was a hardware issue and a mobile shop fixed it
so it could be a hardware issue for you as well

I was thinking if you can pass me your EFS folder (if you have the nv_data files that contains the IMEI) and then use some hex editor(I tried but I dont have those files) and change the IMEI by the mine
