[Q] Firewall 2g/3g - HTC Sensation XL

hi,
i have an sensation xl (rooted).
i want to control my mobile data usage by not allowing mobile date to some apps.
i already tried a lot of firewall apps but they only seem to work well with wifi.
if i disable an application to connect over 2g/3g with the tools he still does connect.
does anyone has the same problem?

Did you try LBE Privacy Guard? Seems to work great as firewall, as you can set each app having or not internet connection both via wifi and mobile. Worth a try

Wifi auto on

Does any know why my wifi is turned on automaticly?
i dont think i have any programs that would require wifi access.
what about the quickGPS program, when the data runs out wouldn't it just use what connection i have open to collect new data?
if enabled in comm manager wifi will always connect to a router when your device wakes up
if it's disabled then sounds like a program enable it
a program I exp'd doing so is fring
suppose other programs you got running in the background
could do likewise

[Q] Masking a WiFi connection as a data connection?

As the title says, is there any way to mask a WiFi connection as a mobile data connection instead?
I have an app that only plays nice with data connections, which is an issue because the app is very data hungry. When I use WiFi instead, the app detects this and disables some functionality.
Any way to do this? I am fully rooted and everything so I'm up for anything.
Anything ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Wifi connected, but no internet connection

I bought a Nexus 6 through the Google Play store. I can connect to wifi, but the internet connection will occasionally drop out. No other devices on the network have the problem. I have no apps installed currently, as I am trying to figure out if it's an app that's causing it (still have the problem). After a few seconds/minutes the internet connection will reconnect. Toggling wifi off and on will force it to regain internet.
I talked with Google support but it didn't help.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Do you have comcast?? If so it doesn't play nice with the nexus 6. I have the same issue. Use any so that changes the dns on the phone to Google and it fixed the problem.
It has something to do with ipv6
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
please check the settings of your router, I fixed the same by configuring security WPA2 method in admin panel of my router
Turns out the WiFi connection that was having problems does use Comcast. How do I adjust my DNS settings, and what should I set them to exactly? Thanks!

Which firewall blocks all connections per app? afwall+ alternative

I'm looking for a firewall that can connect all connections (on all network interfaces) for specific apps. I had a problem in the past when connected to VPN the apps could access the internet even when supposedly blocked.

There seems to be a bug with afwall which blocks reconnection to a wifi network. For example if I am connected to my home wifi, leave my home, then come back, I would still be using mobile data because of bug in afwall+. rebooting phone fixes this but that's a pain.
refer here and here
I'm using netguard for blocking connections. The app also comes with ad block function.

wifi hotspot traffing filtering

Hello everyone on this forum!
I have an issue with my P20 Pro when using wifi hotspot, or I think it's releated to my phone. To the point...
Sometimes I have to use wifi hotspot from my p20 pro to share internet access to my work laptop. Basically, if I'm at home office I use VPN to connect to internal network of my work place, so I can access internal recources. And everything is working when using hotspot except one program which uses SQL database. On phone wifi hotspot I can't access this database and it looks like my phone is blocking traffic related to this database. Database is giving me error that I'm not connected to internal network. I tried to reset network setting, still the same problem. I checked on some other phones:
google pixel 4a - database access OK,
huawei P20 lite - no database access,
any other non-phone hotspot network - database access OK.
Any segestion why this is happening?
Try usb tether and switching to 5Ghz (if possible on notebook side). Sounds like some routing issues but if you tried resetting already then I don't suppose you'll be able to resolve that.
