safestrap not working on .215? - Motorola Droid 4

Since i jumped to the .215 leak from the .213 leak i haven't been able to install safestrap. The app loads fine and all, but when i reboot all i get is the motorola boot logo fallowed by the droid boot animation. Am i doing something wrong or is it the same for everyone?
Thanks ahead of time

2 questions:
1. Did you hit "install recovery" from within the app?
2. Do you have busybox installed/up to date?

Turns out my busybox was out of date. Thanks again

[ATTN] Official ClockworkMod supported Droid 3 Bootstrap Release by Koush

Today, Koush added support for the Droid 3 to ClockworkMod.
This includes releasing a Droid 3 Bootstrap which I believe he'll have some download links for or be placing on the market.
BEWARE: If you plan on using the new bootstrap from Koush, PLEASE use the "Remove Recovery" button and uninstall my Bootstrap APK before installing his.
Don't use 2 Bootstrap APKs together. Universe Explode. Or, maybe it could be unpredictable if you decide to remove mine later.
Thank you for listening to this public service announcement.
i see it in the market
Whats the difference with this one and yours Hashcode? Are you still updating yours?
-smc
Its the newest version. It works with rom manager. Probably flashes all partitions, but not sure.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
So you don't need to install bootstrap before installing this?
So quick question, if we were to flash something and it ended up boot looping, like flashing a theme, how do we get back into cwm if we can't get back into android to access the app? Need to be able to restore in case something like this happens.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
No. You have to uninstall the previously released bootstrap/recovery. After which you install this new one.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Yep uninstall Hashcodes version from his app, then install the "Droid 3 bootstrap" on the market or from here http://t.co/IM110WZ3 then use clockwork mod to install the recovery for Droid 3 in the flashable list.

Yeah i'm also curious how your supposed to get back into recovery in case of a boot loop?
Are either you or Koush going to be continuing work on your alternate-system-partition scheme for making 2nd-init not an accident waiting to happen?

This. It is nice having official support, but the idea of keeping a 99% pure system and almost no risk of fubaring 2nd-init is extremely attractive.
Hmm not sure how to access the recovery from device power down using this, going to bptools just initiates a normal start up.

I too hope we see the 2nd init partition I Don't plan on installing the official at this point.
I used Hashcode's app to uninstall his recovery.. rebooted... downloaded Koush's Rom Manager from the market.. installed... started the app and flashed clockworkmod recovery... gave su permissions.... clicked Reboot into Recovery and it just reboots normally... no CWM... am i missing a step? is there a keyboard combo that will boot into CWM... vol-down+power only takes you to fastboot..
Thanks to all for continuing to develop this phone!

I seem to be having some issues getting this to work.
I uninstalled the Hashcode recovery, then removed his app. After that I downloaded the Droid3 recovery from the market and installed that. Going into Rom Manager, after a reboot, I was it did not list any Clockwork as being installed. I clicked on the list and Droid 3 was now one of the options so I applied that and went to test by having Rom manager reboot into recovery.
It sat there for a good 5 minutes on the red Motorola logo. Pulled the battery to reboot and it booted fine but I cannot figure out how to access the recovery.

Using the bootstrap app make sure you click bootstrap recovery then reboot recovery using the app. See if that helps.

Confused?

Okay right about now i am really confused about flashing roms on droid 3,
ok so i have root access now what recovery should i put?
and here is my big question.
can i flash dark droid or steel droid regardless of system?
my phone says .866 and droid steel says i need .890?
am confused on this part,
sorry for the stupid questions.
Yes you do need .890, and I recommend that you install the tweaked bp tools bootstrap by hashcode to get cwm, it saved my softbricked droid3

Not gunna lie im a lil confused too..what's the point of flashing the tweaked one if when you flash a new rom it overwrites it? So you can't access cwr from bp tools then
/droid3
under settings, about phone, your system version is .866? i think we were .959 and now we're .890. Yes, you would want to use hashcodes modified version of koush's bootstrap.

Basically installed on your phone as an app, and you re-bootstrap/recovery after you flash your custom rom so you can create new backups/restore/flash update .zip files ect. After the rom is flashed as well... if you think you wont have any issues ever after, by all means, brave the world without your cwm recovery on there... but that kinda seems like you'd be sinking your d*** in looseness w/o a rubber... and no body likes that itch in the AM...

Not saying it wont be usefull but if you can manage to navigate to the bootstrap app and hit the button for bootstrap recovery..why can't you just hit the button for reboot recovery? I guess im just missing my unlucked bootloader from my incredible lol I used to screw with my phone so much lol
But why does no one wipe for any of these roms?
And what is safe strap exactly?
/droid3
IF you can access the app, yes you could just hit reboot recovery. If youre bootlooping or something you can go into recovery and select bp tools and that reboots into the same recovery as selecing reboot recovery in cwm. and the safestrap is different from the tweaked bootstrap. the safestrap boots from /preinstall or something. Also, you should wipe especially after switching to/from CM7

This. ^^^
Basically you want it if you can't actually boot your phone.
if you don't redo your recovery and just rely on clicking those buttons when you need them from the app... you'll be stuck if you bootloop and have to flash the sbf in order to get your phone back. I much rather restore from recovery and have 99% of my phone data back with no issues.
The safestrap and 2nd Int. stuff is wicked cool, I just wish i knew more about that... I couldn't really help describe that part lol.

Upgrading to .905

So, i have a bionic on .902, rooted, and running safestrap. when i try to install the OTA update to .905 the phone will reboot and attempt to install, but will fail during the install process, just for fun i did a wipe data/factory restore and attempted to apply the update again but the same problem persists. i have read that you can fully revert back to stock, but i cannot find any sort of guide to help me along.
Does anyone know of a giude that explains how to do such a thing?
Also is there a good ics rom out there that has both cameras functioning properly?

The best method to go back to complete stock .902 would be to FXZ. This process involves a computer running Windows and the directions can be kind of involved, but here you go(please follow in order):
BACKUP ALL DATA FROM INTERNAL STORAGE TO SD CARD BEFORE YOU START!
On your computer:
1. Download and install the Motorola Drivers from here: http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
2. Download and install RSD Lite from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=784077&d=1321414457
3. Download .902 FXZ file from here ( DO NOT Unzip it): https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B02aWSmWZBAkanh4M2plbldSY0tSRk43V0s3Ykl1UQ/edit?pli=1
OK, after you have finished that:
4. Turn your Bionic off
5. Hold down vol up and vol down buttons
6. While holding down vol buttons, hold down power button
7. You should see a black and while menu come up, use the vol down key to highlight AP Fastboot and use vol up key to select it
8. You should be in AP Fastboot Flash Mode
9. Now plug in your Bionic to a USB port on the BACK of your computer
10. Wait for Windows to find and install drivers for your phone
11. Launch RSD Lite, you should see your phone listed, select it
12, Towards the top you should see a text bar and a '...' button, click it and select your .902 FXZ file.
13. It will ask you if you want to start flashing click "Uncompress and start flashing"
14. Give it a good ten minutes to finish, once the phone has rebooted and you see the setup screen on your phone, you are good to go!
15. Don't install anything or root your phone
16. Now go into Settings and check for update and install .905 as you normally would
17. Now you can install all of your apps and data and root using the motofail method
And as far as ICS ROMS, all ICS ROMS that I know of are fully functional (camera, video, hw acceleration, etc.) . Since we now have ICS leaks that are flashable, you can flash one of those and then flash CM9 and the like, or just stay with the ICS leak. I personally recommend the AXIOMCS ROM for the Bionic. If you want to know have to flash the ICS Leaks and ICS ROMS, just let me know!
It's possible to FXZ direct to 5.9.905 now. The files finally leaked.

I am now doing a fastboot restore
you have been warned.
I know the feeling...been through that with my Atrix, Bionics, RAZR, etc...thank God for the fast boot files! I'll grab those now...
Any additional details would be helpful. Did you try to flash the restore to stock file before trying to flash your back up? And did you use bootstrap to make the original back up or safestrap?
Thanks

I made the backup with the razr bootstrap, tried to restore the backup, it failed on restoring system.
I restored data manually (advanced) then it would go to the red M screen, then a blank screen with the backlight on.
I tried booting into stock recovery and a factory reset, didn't work.
Fastboot did though

How did you flash mikeyxda's version 7 online/offline to your stock unsafe ROM? Did you install a ROM to the safe side and flash that? When I attempt to flash a zip to the unsafe I get the warning that I cannot flash a .zip in unsafe mode.

My Droid 3 Isn't Working

Hello.
I'm with a Droid 3, but my friend tried to install the Kernex-CM10 with the 1.08 bootstrap, and when I turn on the phone, appear the Motorola Logo , then appear the bootstrap and just stay black after that.
So, i want to know what i can do. I was trying to stall Safestrap 2.1, but I only found the APK, and no the zip.
Anyone can help me?
Sorry for my english.
The new Kexec builds are compatible with safestrap version 3.05. They are not however compatible with the older safestrap versions.

Well, so, as I can't install the apk because I can't enter in system because my Droid 3 doesn't boot.
So, If I had a safestrap.zip, I can install it with "install zip from sdcard", I think...
Or i can install another Rom that cames already with another kernel compatible with safestrap 1.08, i'm right?
Or what i can do?
You could sbf back to stock and go from there...
Other than that, I don't really know what you could do...

Can you still get to the boot strap/Safestrap? Try flashing a compatible ROM.
To get back to safestrap recovery you can pull the battery, wait a few seconds then put the batt back in and power up you should get the safestrap splash screen to get back in to recovery from you should be able to get back to you unsafe(stock) system

go to the compatible safestrap and switch to your stock slot/partition. Then, run your CURRENT safestrap apk, uninstall recovery, then uninstall the apk.
Then, go to hashcode's site - http://blog.hash-of-codes.com download the LATEST safestrap for droid 3, then flash CM10
EDIT: to get to your safestrap, press the settings button (I think) - someone who used 1.0x please confirm?
