my nexus one is charging on a regular basis around 106-7 F. I know there is another thread about this issue but the question was not resolved. So does anyone have experience with this issue. Is it a defect or dangerous? I have OSmonitor installed, this si where I am reading my temps. I also notice the CPU usage is pegged around 98-99%..is this normal?
I heard using setCPU with a charging profile can solve this problem if you have root?
No, it is not normal for the cpu to be maxed out while charging. Are you using the car dock or a wall charger?
nexous one
mine does the same thing all the time its not going to damage your phone at all
my phone has got about 120 F on car doc
my phone is perfect just set your set cpu for fail safe and your all good
You probably could use SetCPU to solve this problem, but the fact that your CPU usage is so high in the first place means there is something going wrong - my guess would be a rogue app.
Try downloading a task killer from the Market. Kill each app running one at a time then check your CPU usage. You'll soon find the culprit.

Yeah I'm starting to see the problem with the phone having a metal casing. Not good when it's summer and you have to place it under direct sunlight for extended amounts of time, while using navigation AND charging
That thing can get burning hot alright.
Are you using froyo 2.2?
I have had the same problem; I also have random periods of high cpu use when not charging as well. This issue is not caused by problem apps either. I must reboot to fix the issue, sometimes I must reboot several times until the cpu load is back to normal.
I am not sure it is a bug or a hardware fault. Maybe a quick call to HTC and/or google is in order.
I will also try to reapply the 2.2 update.

Been there, done that. I opened a thread asking other users about the problem, and even mailed HTC's support. In the end I decided to try flashing the stock 2.1 rom again to see if the problem persisted, and it didn't.
I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware problem, but you might want to install eclair too and see if it works for you.

I bet your heat issues are related to cpu loads or staying at high frequencies like mine. Sometimes the phone does not feel like it is really running as hard as the system monitors say, though it may still get hot.
Where can I find the older ROM? I thought the bootloader would not allow going to older ROMs, or maybe I am mistaken.
I am re-flashing the leaked 2.2 update to make sure there was no issue with the original install. I am also using the copy my GF downloaded when I sent her the instructions on the off chance that my download was corrupted in some small way; unlikely but hey. I do think that the original flash may have gone wrong, as mine hung and never rebooted after the flash was complete; I had to manually reboot. Lets hope this fixes it.
This issue may be more widespread than we realize, as many people do not actively monitor their cpu or notice/worry about the heat after charging. I do believe that these leaked ROMs send debug data to google, I remember reading something along those lines; these are internal test ROMs after all. Maybe this is a reason that 2.2 is not out yet, this and other bugs found during real world use.

What I did was follow this guide up to the point where you have a stock eclair rom, then not upgrade to Froyo. Keep using that for some time, see whether the phone gets hot or not, THEN (if you want) move back to Froyo.
I am using the wall charger hat came with the nexus one. I am also running Froyo 2.2... can I set a CPU fail safe without my phone being rooted? Also what is a quick to check if my phone is rooted? I just bought this Nexus One from someone. I know on my G1 it was rooted bc I had Superuser permissions.
Using OSmonitor I can sort the processes by their CPU load and the one process that always has the highest load is " /init" which always has around 85-96% of the load. You can also kill these processes directly inside of OSmonitor and I have tried killing " /init" to no avail.
The fastest way I can think would be installing Lamppu, then trying to use it to light up the camera flash. If it works your phone is flashed, if it doesn't it's not.
As for your other questions... sorry, i don't know. I hope someone else can help you.

Thats a system process so you can not kill it.
Going to test my GFs nexus and see if she has these issues as well.
I restored my N1 to the factory image, the updated back through each update to 2.2; so far so good. My GF's N1 has been running fine since I really started watching it, so I figured it would hurt to try to restore and redo the update.
No 100% cpu load during charging any more!
i am using the Motorola charger and my phone is not getting hot at all. with the charger that comes in the box for the N1 it seems to heat up.
Still had the CPU load get stuck at 100% today; though charging is not forcing 100% loads any more.
By the way, how do you measure how busy the processor is? How do you know that it's at 100%?

System monitor apps, some will even put a little icon in the notification tray that shows current cpu load.
To my knowledge, there is no thread dedicated to the new numerical releases of CM. Let us start with the newest, CM 6.0.2.
Please post your anecdotal data, including benchmarking scores, bugs, and glowing experiences. Perhaps this will serve as an unofficial repository for issues that prove consistent.
Note: After modifying my WiFi settings, specifically disabling sleep mode while the screen is off, I've encountered no related instability.
Mail FC Fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=394316&d=1283500340
Systemic issues yet to be addressed:
-LEDs do not work save for charging
-Outgoing calls initially drop before reconnecting
-Lockups or reboots, likely stemming from SetCPU
-OS does not recognize internal storage
Does this version fix the wifi not staying on?
Did you change your settings to Never sleep for wifi and just left the wifi on? Thanks...I want to try different settings and see if I can eliminate reboots/shut downs.
are we waiting for the nightly for the newest fixes like LEDs or is there gonna be a new release like .3?
OP you are a month behind (it's 9/3 not 8/3)
After fixing the mail fc, this rom is very stable except for one lingering issue. I guess it might be wifi related. I went all day without any issues with wifi on constantly (and bt) but when I left work (and seemingly as soon as I got out of wifi range) the phone was locked up with nothing on the screen, unresponsive. I had to pull the battery. This has happened since RC3 for me. I am going to try it without wifi over the weekend. Otherwise, BT streaming adio now works perfect, and the internal memory gets scanned for pics/images. I'm going to keep running it though as this wifi bug should be fixed soon.
not to mention we're commenting on it in the more official thread posted up by the author of the rom .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755690&page=111
however just to say it.. so far its running quite well, I found a correlation between wifi and BT causing issues with each other... commented on it in the other main thread after some extensive testing today.

Yes, there definitely is still issues with wifi. The issue seems to be exacerbated when running SetCPU with a profile that underclocks when the screen is turned off. Since I've stopped using SetCPU I havent had a single freeze, although I might have just gotten lucky so far.
SetCPU will not run at startup for me, even with the option checked to start at boot. I had to set Tasker to run it at boot as a workaround.
When phone is in Airplane mode I still am able to recieve text messages.

I would have to second the issue with SetCPU. As soon as I overclocked it and began using the rom I noticed the phone would get hot abnormally fast and would reboot a few times within the first few hours. Not sure what is going on here as it worked fine on the RC.

I believe the thread referenced by you refers to RC3, whereas I am specifically looking for feedback on the newest numerical releases of CM 6 for the incredible.
Update: leaving battery percentage at 91 before bed with system panel running, will see whats eating up the most juice. So far stable n fast with no issues (except LCDs).
I get random reboots and freezes every thirty minutes if so on a fresh wipe of 6.0.3 I tried with setcpu and without but always with the built in hotspot running. Same issue since RC3
LED notifications dont work. LauncherPro Plus FCs on every reboot, other then those things im good with it, great wallpapers , great rom

Battery life was down to 81% 11 hours later, and the phone had been placed in Airplane mode while running Gentle Alarm and a few widgets (no auto task killer).
Breakdown:
System 0.6%
System Processes 0.3%
System Panel 0.3%
android.process.acore 0.1%
Plus several honorable mentions with 0.0%. I have yet to perform this experiment with Ruby or ID.
Hey all, from what I see, the DS7 on many reviews runs alot of battery draining apps. Was thinking about installing my Taskiller pro on it if others would say its good on a tablet. I know On my HD2 android mode and G1 it works nicely. But on a tablet, I feel its a whole new ballgame and I dont wish to use something that may be worse off. Anyone using any sort of task killer app? Hows it working out? (Cause I do notice with the DS7, it leaves ALOT of apps open in the background when you go away from it, least on the G1 it closed it out)

Whats Juice defender like?
Also thanks for letting me know Power manager works! I have the pro version from G1. Good! That means 2 of my fav apps will cross over to tablet. =D
Edit: Btw using SetCPU? It works but I am not sure what good profile setup would be.
Edit 2: Power manager pro been abandoned?? You using the same one? Or a diff one?
I haven't had the device more than a couple days but I'm thinking the battery drain might have a lot to do with the 4G radio. By comparision battery used by the apps running in the background might be insignificant? Have you tested out the battery life with the 4G radio turned out, WiFI only?
Anyway, many task killers don't function 2.2 Froyo. They can be dangerous and are often unnecessary with Android handles memory. However, "Go Launcher EX" contains a nice safe, 2.2 compatible one that you can access from it's tabbed App Drawer. Perhaps that's what you want?
If not, take a look at this post as well...

I turn my 4g radio off since I don't have a data plan and just use my mytouch 4g as a hotspot and connect via wifi. With setcpu I have it min 216 max 1000. I also have a screen off profile that sets the min/max to 216 when the screen is off. I'm using advanced task killer to kill stuff as well when the screen is off which I don't do on my phone but feel like it doesn't really matter on my tablet. I also use super power manager to turn off/on wifi when my screen is off/on.
I'm getting pretty decent battery life with medium usage.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Nice rundown! Thanks. =D More info we have the better we all can make of this battery life. Now I do use 4g data plan. So I guess Ill have to fiddle around there. I wish I knew how many mhz it was already using when the screen is off.
super power also can control the data connection. So you can turn off the radios when the screen is off. True you wont get emails etc while the screen is off but as soon as it turns on it will enable your data connection and then pull your email etc.. anyway.
I get all my email to my phone so I dont need an "always" on connection with my ds7. The thing that sucks though is I cant be logged into facebook on both devices at the same time. If I'm logged in through my mytouch 4g and I open fb on my DS7 I will get errors. I can only be logged into fb on one device at a time. Now I just use my phone for FB and dont even bother using my streak for that.
Task killers ans Android are morehl harm then good. Look at your running apps and figure out which ones are necessary and remove or disable the rest.

Known issues are basically the camera and mic don't work, some folks have wifi issues and some don't... and some have issues with the audio acting up when waking from sleep... I myself am happy to say I don't have wifi or audio issues... but camera and mic are driver issues that may never get to work. All in all very stable though
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using Tapatalk 2
If camera and mic are the only problems then I see no reason not to give it a shot. I don't know if I would ever use them.I was concerned that it was missing core functionality making it something one wouldn't use as a daily OS and only switch over to it for test scenarios and then switch back. I have cm9 on my Samsung epic (the one with hw kb). Would the current latest nightly be the one to go with?
Just curious, why are the camera and mic drivers so difficult? I would have thought having them running on WebOS was at least some of the work. I guess porting said work to Android is a completely different ballgame.
I wonder if the wifi/audio issues are still being worked on tho? Or are those of us with those stuck with em forever?
The big thing for me was hardware video decoding. Alpha 1 fixed that for YouTube, and alpha 2 finished the fix for Netflix and others.
If you haven't already, check out the thread at rootzwiki.
I was using webOS by choice until CM9 came out. I switched to CM9, and have been using it as my daily driver since the very first Alpha. I never video chat, but if I wanted to I know I can just boot webOS.
Don't let people here tell you CM9 (or the Kangs thereof) are unstable. Some people continue to spew that we don't have a stable version of android purely because its called an alpha. I don't think it will graduate past alpha without camera/mic support, and that may never happen. Right now, without trying, I am sitting at 587 hours of up time on my TouchPad. I can't think of a better word to use than "stable."
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
Known Issues that I can think of. I know some were mentioned above, but all in one place is good.
Broken, NO FIX:
1) No Microphone
2) No Camera
Partial Workarounds:
1) Audio gets noisy with screen off. Kinda workaround: Turn volume down, only happens at higher volume levels. Or set screen timeout longer/always on while playing audio. No complete fix.
2) Wi-Fi dies or doesn't reconnect. Some people never have a problem, others do. Workarounds: First, set WiFi to always on so it doesn't turn off with the screen. Second, try changing the channel on your router, or if you have 2.4ghz/5ghz switchable, try using the other. If Wi-Fi still dies, toggle it off and back on.
3) Some people report that if the TouchPad fully discharges to 0% they have trouble getting Android to charge properly. Others report that if you reboot the device with it plugged in, sometimes it won't charge. I've experienced neither problem, but the best advice is, charge before the device shuts off fully, and unplug the charger/usb while booting.
Broken, but Completely Fixable:
1) Random crashes. Install CPU Master and raise minimum CPU speed to 384 or 416 depending on which works for you, and crashes go away. Also, don't overclock too much.
Setup Issues:
1) DPI is at 160dpi stock. This works for most things, except a few tablet apps and games will not work properly. Setting DPI to 120dpi fixes everything, but the display quality is not ideal. 132dpi is ideal, but breaks the market after a day or two. Most people use 160dpi or 120dpi.
2) The default launcher, Trebuchet, is NOT compatible with the 4:3 aspect ratio of the TouchPad's screen if you use any DPI other than 160. Why something so easily fixable has not been fixed escapes me, but you will quickly find you need a new launcher. Go Launcher HD is one of a few that are very friendly to the TouchPad.
App Issues (not really issues but you probably want to know)
1) A few apps really, really, really are picky about the screen size and just won't scale right. (see Trebuchet notes above). One example is Politico HD - it forces 16:9 aspect ratio and thus gets cut off. Some apps simply refuse to run. Contacting the developers rarely works. This is probably less than 1% of the apps on the market, however.
2) Some developers simply are too strict on app compatibility on the market, and whitelist only select devices. Getting compatibility from these guys is a longshot. Best option is to install on another device, grab the APK or use Titanium Backup to move the app to the TouchPad.
3) Some games (notably Gameloft is the worst) enforce device compatibility checks within the program itself and it will refuse to run unless you masquerade as an approved device by hacking your build.prop... which is not normally recommended.
Did I miss anything anyone?
Hi all.
Have been modding and playing around with Note 4 and the emmc fault is a bi*ch. If it works, you never know when the damn thing will stop functioning. And the phone itself is always a bit buggy with custom roms. I noticed that several people here compare it to Note 3 and mean that Note 3 overall has certain advantages, easier to modd, less buggy, and of course, is not plagued with emmc fault. Don't get me wrong, i have several units and i really like the damn thing.
So i would like to ask all you who actually HAVE experience of both, write here a line or two, and compare those two. Which one is actually more thankfull for modding? N4 being of course newer, but does it make that big of a dirfference?
Hi, i don't have an note 3, i have and use a note 4, very happy with the phone running android 6.01 heavy customized and with the best kernel (ram Kernel v8.1 never had any issues with emmc or any other for that matter, it runs very smooth with no problems, battery last for a week, standby 0.4% per hour.
Ok. Difficult to make comparison then since you have no experience with Note 3, but thanx anyway.
Sounds good tho. May I ask then how your setup looks like, since having a battery last for a week is really an achievment?
System:
I Installed stock PHN DRI2 Build with ram Kernel v8.1 removed a lot of user apps that i don't need and also a lot of system apps that drain your battery, i use magisk for root and have two modules in use GPU Turbo Boost (not sure if this does anything but i leave it anyway installed) and Swap Torpedo (no swap file that saves battery) i use for tweaks the L Speed app and some build.prop tweaks most of them are from goldeneye rom.
Apps:
I use Ungoogled Chromium, this browser is memory and battery friendly as it does not call home all the time and i don't use social media apps as they are all battery hogs, i have about 50 apps installed and i use afwall for firewall and as email i use exchange push email with stock email client.
I tried almost every rom available for the note 4 910F but all suck in battery or the pen is not working, with a lot of trial and error in debloating the rom i stick with the one i have now, i am running it for 3 years and i am a happy camper. I love this phone with the pen the screen size and the exchangeable battery, it runs for a week with one charge 7 days with 3 hours and 43 minutes screen on, the onscreen time (backlight slider at 1/3 and dark color wallpaper) is about 7 hours in one go and it uses 0.4 battery per hour in standby (measured with GSam Battery Monitor since 1 year). I had newer phone they are all made of glass, no battery exchange and no earphone connector. Long story short, great phone . If you like to have the build.prop tweaks i can give them to you. The L speed app you can download from XDA https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/l-speed.6156/ .

Thank you very much for the offer, but build props are way over my experience level, i think.
Btw, love the phone for the same reason as you do.
Besides, i am quite happy customer also, running @AnonVendetta s version of really bareboned stock 6.01. No Google, microG instead. No root. Not many apps. I probably could get a week out of a battery also with light use that i usually do. But i use Signal, and i just yesterday discovered that the damn thing just chugs battery like mad if you don't have Play Service installed. So with it installed i get at best a days use, with very light using of the phone.
I am currently rocking a Note 3 on Sprint and running Android 10 (Superior OS) and works great. All the convencience of Android with my removable battery and IR blaster (yes I use it for multiple TV's in multiple buildings I control). I use the S-Pen on Squid to take notes and jot down info and even mark up pictures so don't need Air Command. I sync with my FitBit Versa and run multiple smart home devices from the phone (including my whole home entertainment with the PEEL app).
The only 'complaint' I have is the bluetooth. There was a major problem past Android 7 of geting the thing to work. It does now. Voice and music work good. But occassionally it will just drop the device it connects to. I will re esablsih about 10 seconds later but still, that loses the lock on my Jeep radio and therefore keeps allowing the screen to lock. This is a minor annoyance but does need to be mentioned.
I JUST bought a Note 4 so thinking of loading LOS 17 on it and see how it goes. However I see most people here just kept stock Marshmellow. I dunno aobut that... isnt the UI buggy and limiting?
I look forward to any advice I can get!
Hi Dave,
I also use the IR remote for all my home appliance (dvbviewer TV on my pc, living room and bedroom tv and Bose audio system, i use the ir plus app great remote control app and it still gets updates, about the roms available for the note 4 i have the snapdragon version and i have tried all roms but i stay on stock 6.01 the MM version is not buggy at all, it never have problems, hangs crashes or reboots, i use the stock launcher smooth and fast, the UI interface is not important, the apps i use are all in dark mode, for me it's important i can use it the way i like it and it does. NOTE 4 still rocks like a champ with all the advantage it has. If this one breaks i will look for a other note 4, no newer phone for me. I dont know what version you have but try some rome you will see you will go back to 6.01 mm, its rock solid and battery friendly. Bluetooth on the note 4 sucks for battery use but does not crash or breaks anything, i have a gear fit2 pro but i dont connect it with the phone all the time just to sync .

For me LOS17 was a no go because of the SIM issue and lack of encryption. I saw other having other issues. If i were you and needed something newer than marshmallow, then i would try LOS16. I found that one to be very stable, no issues so far for my use. Will perhaps migrate to that one with my daily driver in a while, when stock starts failing.
As for stock 6.0.1, not sure where you heard it was buggy?! I read that marshmallow was if not the least buggy Android OS ever and that is also my experience, at least on Note 4. I totally agree with @Qosmio-. It is the most rock solid rom i have ever had on a device. NEVER had any bugs, issues or anything. Battery friendly. I find launcher smooth, and run UI in 'easy mode', which i find the most appealing, colorwise and all. The perfect OS basically, if there ever was one. I have heard people starting to find apps that are no longer supported, but all apps that are important to me still work.
but wait - you use PEEL app as remote?
Wasn't that completely hidious advertisment-prone bloatware that was utterly unpleasant to use?

I only meant 'buggy' as outdated and unable to use the full Google Assistant features etc... Thats why I moved to newer ROMS Not as smooth and primitive features. I should try myself before I speak the negative about it!
So let's talk about PEEL.
The magic is to use this with Titanium Backup. I must say, PEEL can be set up to use and manage "scenarios" (Home, Work, Friend's House etc). If you set it up..
1.go in and click to NOT auto detect WiFi connections
2.disable advertising and lock screen and persistant notifications for 30 days.
3. Set up a Custom Remote Scenario
4. Create a Widget for the App to default on Custom Remote
3. Do a TB of the app!
I have found, on the newer ROM's it stays Ad Free.. but if it gets weird to annoying just do a TB restore "data only" and then you are golden!
Ive tried lots of other 3rd party apps but I keep going back to PEEL. It stays ad free and as a remote (not as a channel guide) it works exremely well, is desined well and functions well.
Hit me up if you want more specifics! Maybe I should start a 'how to' thread..

No not at all, i protect my use of internet at home and phone ( i am system engineer for 35 years so i know what i can and can't do), if you look what still need to be patched for android Exploits vulnerability-list , every new or old version of android user is @ risk. When connected with my phone to internet via my provider it will change the phones ip address every 15 minutes, i use a firewall (afwall) on my phone and disabled ipv6, i am connected to my home with openvpn to pfsense firewall for internet access and i use my own MS exchange mail server and dns server resolver with ad and privacy telemetry filter with pfblocker. There are things you don't do with old version of android and that is visite websites that are shady, porn websites and browse without a strong ad blocker or privacy filter.

I had tried using some Liniage Versions but on the Sprint Variant they woulnt make phone calls or text so I had to ditch them. I am downloading now so will give it a flash and see! Thank you for the heads up!
Dave
EDIT
Ok.. loaded up the Crdroid ROM. Working well, but with my SM 910P I am having bluetooth problems keeping sync with my Fitbit, Lack of LTE (but works on 3G) and a few other bugs but am managing. What carrier are you with? I would appreciate any tweeks you have found to help out.

Hi Dave,
Sorry for the late reply, i just read your post in the cdroid section, i am with simpel carrier i dont have any problems using LTE and have no problem with sms (i dont use mms) , the only tweaks is with the L speed app and kernel auditor to lower the idle frequentie of the GPU and set it to 166 instead of 240 to save battery. My gear fit2 pro on bluetooth works fine to so i am a happy camper. What you could try is other modems from other stock roms if you did not try that already maybe that helps with you LTE problem.
Cheers

Sorry for all the bouncing around in the forums. Trying to play Note 4 catchup...
Well that is an interesting thought. As a CDMA carrier customer (Sprint) I feel I am locked into my own island.
Can I just do a stock modem restore in TWRP onto my CRDroid ROM ? I am not at all sure why my Bluetooth is having such a problem with my Versa 2.. Maybe it is the versa problem?
Anyways, I can see a bit where the Note 4 gets laggy with camera use and running a few other commands at once. I know this is older but my Note 3 did not seem to hesatate this much. I like the idea of considering lowering my GPU.
Let me know if you have any other thoughts?
Dave
Np Dave there is so much information to take in that i can't blame you when bouncing aroubnd in the forum , You can and must make a backup with twrp of your modem in use and then fiddle around with different versions, its very easy to rip modems with 7zip from different original roms and zip (7zip) them to flash it with twrp. As for bluetooth it can be a pain in the ass with custom roms especially with asop roms, do some searches in the forum maybe someone has the same issue as you have.
Cheers

I found a forum that says to go into the application and wipe data and cache and then I went into TWRP and wiped ART/Cache. That seems to help with the 'Bluetooth Keeps Stopping" error. I have tried to load several other ROM's but they wont install due to Error 7 codes. I supsect becuase I updated to the Q15 version and these older ROMS arent being updated. So I will keep trying to nurse the CrDroid 10 version and see if it can be improved..
I'm not an expert but for me.. note 3 is more stabLe than note 4 when it comes to custom rom. Easier to mod, and Less buggy. ( thanks to aLL deveLopers at kay Lodi @jprimero15 )
TiLL now stiLL Looking for a rom that can fit note 4 for daiLy usage.
Thanks
I am using Emotion Kernel, and Xposed. I will just to Android 12 at the moment it will be available.
I never used the Note 3, but i wonder is it faster than the Note 4 in daily usage. The Note 4 Snapdragon CPU is a frying pan and it can strongly reduce its performance when it gets hot.
My phone will in consequence randomly reboot, but i have a simple script that detects overheating and lower the CPU freq (works good)
Is the Note 3 quick and doesn't overheat when browsing internet?
