My own builds of CM10 for my I9000 are not booting anymore since 7/21 (stuck before boot animation).
Logcat show error with SurfaceFlinger.
I tried to restart with a clean repository but the problem still occur.
Anybody encounter and manage to solve this problem ? It makes me crazy.

Get into CWM and re install an earlier build and try again. Odd.

No problem reinstalling an other rom. That just that there seems to be something wrong for I9000 in CM10 sources since 7/21, and i can no longer build CM10 with my own modifications. No solutions found in forum for now, and no support as it's not officialy released.
Stuck to my CM9 based rom for now, and it's very frustrating...

Different things in datas connectivity management (periodic activation, power widget), gapps included, a few Samsung apps, more user friendly recovery...
But this is not the problem, even a clean and freshly extracted repository with no modifications is not booting. It was working perfectly before 7/21.
Tryed to reinstall Unbuntu, 10.4 and 12.4, always the same. No problem with CM9.
No more idea to solve the problem... will probably have to wait for more stabilised sources.
Thanks

OMG! Tell me exactly what kernel you have! It's very ****ing important for CM! Give me the link to the right thread with your kernel!!!!!!!!!!!
my kernel version is 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #285
and i dont exactly know the thread cuz i dloaded from sourceforge collection i think.
and please figure out something and tell me !!! :O
As a rule of thumb, I ALWAYS build a new kernel for EVERY install, not just download one and hope it works.
Kernels are build-dependent, meaning you shouldn't use one for both Froyo and Eclair or Donut.
ATools is your friend, especially now with the cache fix and better RIL implementation.

Well, with this kernel you can forget installing CM builds . You need latest kernel with cache partition.
Damn !! :O

Why? Just flash a new kernel.
Max, Here is the kernel I use, built for the Tilt.
500MHz, panel 2, Tilt, OC GPU and batt stat to 1500mah, EXT4 FS and either a 15 or 20mb cache partition, I don't remember.
I've never had an issue with this kernel... ever.
Just unzip (it's just a "store", non-compressed) and install via SD card or RUU.
Install it EVERY TIME you load another install, preferrably before installing.
Any issues should be posted here.
the phone cant be flashed by power+camera or same with reset button , so i was thinking that can i go to bootloader through MTTY or something else ?
If yes then do tell me :/
Are you saying the camera button doesn't work, or that the phone is stuck in OEMBL mode? (black screen)
If the second is the case, then this is a very touchy problem as I will NOT instruct anyone on how to use MTTY to recover a broken SPL.
If the camera button does work you can hold it and reset the phone with the attached kernel copied to the root of an SD card. Any of Oli's HardSPL's will work this way.
I almost forgot that you need to install an update to any older roms that allows for the /cache partition, download attached file and copy to andboot folder.
Do yourself a favor and KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING before EVER doing anything to the phone in MTTY! The MicroKernel on these phones is a tough egg to crack and even harder to fix once it is cracked.
okay , so i installed this update . now what exactly do i have to do?
and there's no black screen , but i ant go to bootloader so there must b a problem with the camera button :/
Hey guys, so i got my phone serviced yday and ever since im unable to use any of the Custom ROMS available.
I tried every possibilities, but some how even though im able to install it via recovery, im unable to enter the ROM due to the continuous Boot loop without any animations too.
But im able to FLASH the Normal Stock Roms as many times as i want.
Never experienced this trouble before at all.
Please help/guide me to resolve this issue.
Unable to use my phone without Custom ROMS.
Thanks in advance!
at least can someone give me all their files that comes when u plug in the phone into Polling mode??
thanks!
I don't think you need that.
Check the kernel version of the stock Rom you have and the custom Rom you want to install. They have to be the same version or you will continuously be getting boot loops.

Kernel != ROM
Apparently you got your phone back from service with a GB load, that has kernel 2.6.32. You can not flash a newer release (Sharp, RC3 or ICS) that uses a newer kernel 2.6.35 with recovery. To do so you need to flash with SUT.

Hm.. thanks a lot mmaacc.. Finally my issue has been resolved.
Been breaking my head for the past 48 hours to somehow get back to Custom ROM..
Thanks a lot really! \m/
btw the reason i had given it for servicing was because the camera wasnt working..
and now the camera problem got solved. but now i notice again after changing the kernel, i have the same camera issue still..
has the kernel got anything to do with the camera?? may be thats why the service center changed the kernel?? wierd!

Many ported ROMs have issues with certain features. The camera, radio or HDMI are all-time favourites here . Read the release descriptions before flashing to see what works and what not.
after flashing CM10 my soft keys (the ones at the bottom) just won't work . They work pefectly inside CWM..
In another ROM, CM7 modded by boype, they work pretty good (still not as good as in CWM).
Is there anyone with the same problem??
If you don't have this problem, can you please let me know what ROM+Kernel you're using? then I can verify if this is a software or hardware issue. :good:

I get an error saying: Sd ext not recognized or something during Dalvik-wipe. Although my sd-card is working :/ I reflashed cm7 boypes and it's working. Then, I reflashed CM10 and it's not working. So, I downloaded the LG tool to get back to stock rom and guess what, it's not working... So, reflash of cm7 from boypes and they're working again..
Is this a kernel issue in combination with my firmware version or something?? (V20n currently)
Thx

Sorry for the inconvenience.
So, i flashed CM10 and the lights were on for about 5 seconds, I could not touch them (so no response it is), and then they went off. The only option is to reflash cm7, because i can't use the softkeys.
Can som1 give me some simple steps for:
- Returning to stock
- flashing the correct firmware using Smartflash (i'm from the Netherlands, i guess thats V20n ; Open Europe?)
- Make sure that the Clear Dalvik-cache option is fully working, (sd-ext error)
- Make CM10 work :/
So, just want to know what steps you guys did in order to make all things work correctly
Hi,
I wish to revert back to cm 7.2 from cm10. I wasn't able to find a conclusive thread which could help with the same. I tried wiping and flashing cm7.2 using CWM but later realized it only flashes update packages. Since cm10 is more updated, nothing happened except a format. Kindly help me with this. I am having lots of trouble with cm10 and its affecting my work

I think the smartest way is get back to a stock GB rom using smartflash so you can root, mount a cwm and flash cm7.2 based on that old bootloader

Which Kernel
Hello Everybody,
I read about this Rom and it sounds really cool. I am excited to try. However, this will be the first time I will flash my S3 LTE (I have flashed other devices before). So, I dont want to brick my S3 LTE. I was confused about the Kernel. Do I need a costum kernel? There are some for Android 5.1. I am running right now a stock Android 4.4.4 rom on my device. Can i just install the Rom following the tutorial on the first page or is there something special about that?
Thank you very much for helping me,
greetings
Marc
It seems my Bluetooth is not working after flashed this rom, full wiped. The phone could not find any bluetooth device and could not be found as well.

As long as you have rooted your phone, you can just follow the steps in the OP. The kernel is installed in the rom .zip package. You can install a custom kernel over the stock one if you want to experiment with CPU settings and governors etc, but you won't get much help on this thread if you have issues like things not working properly.
At the moment there a couple of bugs that could be fixed by using agni until the next build however
Bluetooth
Did a clean install with version 20150610. Bluetooth seems not to work. Although turned on, not finding other devices and not be seen by other devices. Is this a bug? Bluetoth was working before the flashing when using Slimkat.

[5.1.1][F-AOSP i9305] The Android Open Source Project [11.06.2015]
The mod is very good. One note: You can turn off the phone to ring. I will not ring deaf
Thanks and great work on the mod
I just want to thank you for the great mod.
I have waited for a pure (more or less) AOSP mod for the S3 LTE and here you are!
Sometimes I get forced close on the Android keyboard (mostly in Whatsapp) and one or two times FC of the SMS/MMS app. But nothing serious.
Keep up the good work.
TiggaZ
I tried the new release as of 22.06.2015 and it is pretty stable.
Bluetooth is working (connects to an BT headset) but I got some forced reboots while listening to music. Maybe it was because it was Macklemore, I don't know .
After a clean reboot everything seems to work fine. I will give some more feedback about the long term stability as I use this as daily driver now.

Same issue here... Everything else is working great though, so thanks for that ROM :good:
The sd card appears to be working when plugged directly in my PC, and I tried formatting with no success when plugged back in my phone. It's also working when in recovery.
A problem with Gapps
Hi, I tried to install this ROM, but Gapps wouldn't install. (I'm using CWM recovery 6.0.4.7)
It says:
Code:
E:Error in /storage/sdcard1/pa_gapps-modular-micro-5.1-20150410-signed.zip
(Status 6)
Installation aborted.
Any help? It seemed that at least one another person in the main ROM thread was having the same problem.
I managed to install the ROM itself with CWM at the first time and it booted successfully, but without Gapps. Then I changed the recovery to TWRP, and it let me install Gapps (I did a clean reinstall of the ROM and Gapps), but then it stuck on a bootloop. Edit: More details: the loop animation, green, red, blue and yellow "Google spheres" swaying, just keep repeating indefinitely. I don't know if that's a "loop" exactly, but the device doesn't seem to boot further than that.
Installed CWM back, and tried to do a fresh install once again, only ROM, which worked last time. However, the it still bootloops.
I wonder what's wrong. I'm doing a clean install, so why can't I reproduce the successful boot I did the first time...?

Are you sure it's a bootloop? It can take a while on the first boot. A bootloop is when the phone turns itself off and on repeatedly, if it's showing the animation, just wait (10mins?).
My install of the latest version went fine using TWRP (2.8.5 IIRC).

Ah, okay, then it's not bootloop. My phone just hangs indefinitely on the boot animation screen. I have waited for 30 mins, and still nothing. The strangest thing is that I tried some other ROMs ([5.1.1][Cyanogenmod 12.1][UNOFFICIAL][11.06.2015] and [UNOFFICIAL] {UBER} SlimLP 5.1.1 {-o3}), and they always hang at boot. I tried Samsung 4.4 stock ROM just a moment ago, and it booted. But it's so old, ugly and clumsy I don't want to use it. I tried installing this F-AOSP again now that the stock ROM OS booted once at least, but still no success – it always hangs on boot.
But it hardly is a fault of F-AOSP since it seems to happen with almost every ROM. I wonder if I messed something up that simple data+cache+dalvik cache wipe will not heal.
