[Q] Flashing nightly CM9 successfully - Motorola Droid Bionic

I have been able to flash the CM9 ROM over the ICS leak using Safestrap 2.0. Unfortunately, I'm doing a wipe each time and losing my data.
Is there a way, perhaps using Titanium Backup, to flash a new nightly build of CM9 while keeping all my apps, settings, etc?

[Q] SD Card Removed???

Ok, so I went from Classicnerd to CM9 Alpha 2 to the CM9 Unofficial Nightlies and I am having an issue with the latest update. It seems that when I upgrade to either the CM9 Official Nightly or the most recent Unofficial Nightly, I am getting an SD Card Removed error. It seems to be linked to the upgrade from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4. All the apps that have been moved to my SD Card partition are not accessible. Anyone know why? I haven't wiped completely, because I am happy on 4.0.3, but I just wanted to see if there is an answer for this?

It sounds like something got corrupted. If you have a good backup, restore it, then wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache and install the latest nightly. That should do it. If you don't have a good backup, try wipe delete factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and install the latest nightly. You'll have to restore your data, but that's what you get for not having a nandroid.........
Good luck.
Edit : Rereading your post, I think you'll have to do a clean install of cm9. ClassicNerd uses different source. If you have a good backup, you can try advanced restore > restore data, or Titanium.
Yes, he's right.
When going from one release to the next in the same style of series (Alpha2 => Nightlies => more nightlies), you can get away with just a wipe of the /cache and the Dalvik cache. If you go from CN => Nightlies or Nightlies => CM, or any other combo that isn't the same series, you are best set to do a full backup, then a full wipe and start fresh. You can try an Advanced Restore, but be aware it might not work.
I too am having the same problem... it first occurred with the upgrade to 4.0.4. I wiped every thing restored cm9 backup and wen I'm instcalling apps and moving them to sdcard after about five apps my sdcard is removed and will not mount. So I reverted to cm7 (got to have headphone jack) and after moving some apps the samething occured again...

Since we are talking about wiping, I would just like to chime in and ask how that is done on the TouchPad. The only other Android device I have ever owned is my Droid X2 that I use now. And when I want to wipe that, Motorola has a method of doing it to where it sets you back to stock factory settings with a file they provide. Since the TouchPad isn't an official Android device and all, what do you use to wipe it and start over? A link to a thread that explains it would be helpful. I'm sure there is one. I will look.
for an answer to the OP i found this on rootzwiki....dunno if ok to post link but ima do it anyways...remove if frowned upon:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13277-cm7-fixes-for-sdcard-issues/
to fix my sdcard issues i AMCEUninstalled android and did a clean install of the latest moboot, gapps, clockworkmod, and cm9 A2. As for fixing the sdcard issue it also fixed alot of other things....no more Google maps constantly opening and wat not....much more stable.

ICS - Custom Rom Bootloops (Namely with CM9)

I'm not entirely sure where I am supposed to post this, so I am posting it here.
---
I recently installed the 232 ICS leak with the intent of using some of the ICS roms that are available; namely the CM9 releases from [SP]JESTER. I have Safestrap 2.11 installed, but my efforts seemed to be hopeless as every time I flash the rom, (After formatting system/data/cache/dalvik, plus installing his datapack) I am greeted to the boot animation... indefinitely.
I have tried several reflashes, including wiping the data, cache, and dalvik partitions before and after reinstalling the zips and datapack.
Am I doing something wrong, or should I just try a different ROM?
The technical information....
System Version: 6.7.232.XT875.Verizon.en.US
Safestrap: 2.21, Bionic Release.
Attempted Rom Installs:
LiquidSmooth CM9 (Both the KEXEC and Non-KEXEC versions)
Going to try a few more...

CM9 -> CM10 can require repartitioning, but CM10 -> CM9 is just like any other ROM flash. Backup, download the ROM and save it on the sdcard, boot into recovery, full wipe, and flash. It only affects the Android partitions; WebOS won't be affected.

Don't forget the correct gapps as well 04/29 both of which are available in the first post of the nightly thread in the developers section.
Have fun .
The full wipe/factory reset is needed to go back from cm10 to cm9. I also include formatting system but that might be overkill. Going from cm9 to cm10 doesn't require more than clearing caches. It's the downgrade that is nasty. You do need the correct Gapps for cm9. Enjoy.

CM9 to Jelly Bean?

I would do a completely clean install. Run acmeuninstaller, then in webos, run 'remove android'. I f you don't have it, download it from preware. If you don't have preware, install it using WOSQI. Then install cm10 using acmeinstaller3. As long as you're at it might as well upgrade cwm and moboot. They'll install with acmeinstaller3. Here's the link for recovery :http://goo.im/devs/jcsullins/cmtouchpad/recovery
Use the 12/15 version. Here's the link for acmeuninstaller and acmeinstaller3. http://goo.im/devs/jcsullins/cmtouchpad/tools
Here's the link for the gapps: http://goo.im/gapps
Use the 4/29 gapps for cm9 and the 10/11 for cm10.
There are several good how to's here and over at the webos nation forum. Just follow one and you'll be fine.
add one more thing::
backup the cm9 you have now.. my daily is cm9.
AFAIK, it will be complete when dorregaray is satisfied w/ his gyroscope..which i dont really care about acuz i dont play any of those games.
who knows when its fixed, i might play something tho.
i do have a current working cm10 installation backedup ..
there are couple things i want to see fixed before i make cm10 my daily..
I assume you can restore app data by backing up to titanium backup. I use it with my phone when changing ROMs.

I just installed CM9 using acmeinstaller 3 and moboot 0.3.5 and new cwm. Do I still need to do a clean install as described above if I want to try schizoid?
Can I just do a full erase data, /cache, and Dalvik Cache partitions.... and install schizoid zip via cwm?
This is pretty comprehensive: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31548-ho...with-sound-camera-microphone-updated-1302013/
After this, just use CWM to flash new rom.

I would recommend you to use CWM6 and moboot 0.3.8 at the very least. If you just want to check out the speed of cm10 for a little while, I would suggest using Oat's one off CM10 Christmas gift. I was mixing CM9/10 CWM5/6 boot.5/.8 and I had to webOS doctor it eventually. So be careful
Oats ROM is good because it could work even over a ACME2 instance

Update to latest Milaq's Nigthly build

Hi,
I have the Touchpad installed with Milaq's nightly build 08/25 and the jb-app 2013/03 build.
Is there a way to update to latest Milaq's nightly build and latest jb-app 2013/08/12 without resetting the configuration in Touchpad and will have to re-install all the apps and their config/settings?
I was thinking to install the update via CWM-Clockmod, but afraid that I will have to re-install and reconfig all the apps.
Thanks,
Well, if nothing else, an app like MyBackup Root will be able to save all of your apks+their data. Plenty of other apps do it too, that is just the one I've used. Good luck.
You can try a dirty flash, meaning that you only wipe cache and dalvik (not system or data) when you flash it in recovery. Make sure to do a nandroid first.
There shouldn't be any issues when flashing the new nightly from the recovery (CWM or TWRP). Just remember to wipe cache and Dalvik cache before rebooting to CM.
I did an dirty update to the newest cm10.2 nightly coming from cm10.1 - no bad issues so far.
Be sure to make a backup of your old rom and simply try
