[Q] Recommendation - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

History:
It was so great when I was playing with different ROMs last year, they were full of bugs...
I preferred GingerXperia before, I also tried GingerCruzt, Kuyadroid, GingerDX (doixanh), Froyo 0.15?, FroyoPro, FroyoBread...
Then sooner, I found out about MiniCM7, it was wonderful, very stable compared to stock ROM... I also tried PrimeHD...
The thing that makes me away with GingerDX v28b is because of the kernel... the system /dex files goes to my ext, so if I wipe /dex via Link2SD (Very important app for me), system begun to FC :silly: [ANNOYING PROBLEM]
I'm pretty busy... college student... My ROM is pretty loaded but I have time tomorrow to try your recommendation...
I'm using MiniCM7 2.2.1 (Best ROM for me currently), nAa-13... I still want to use the same kernel... I'm planning to have the best (for your opinion) themed roms (Android Development Section)...
1. What "Themed" ROM can you :good: recommend me with MiniCM7 2.2.1 features with the same kernel? (If there are bugs, can you state one?)
2. Is it worth changing MiniCM7 2.2.1 to MiniCM7 Nightly Builds
3. Why does the camera recording in ROMs (MiniCM7, GingerDX, PrimeHD) crashes not FC, when I have recorded more than 10 minutes
Sorry for disturbing... :fingers-crossed:

Stick to minicm7 , im using too , if you want froyo go for FroyoPro.

Which would you recommend for me?

Hello, I have a new SE Xperia x8 and I obviously want to upgrade from Android 2.1. Which would you recommend to me as being the most compatible and stable with new apps.
I do know how to install them but I am wondering whether I should install MiniCM7 Android 2.3.5 or GingerDX 2.3.5. I have heard MiniCM7 is more stable and has more features than GingerDX but as I am a noob which would you recommend?
Thanks
Just wondering if someone can help me!

Gingerxperia v8 is the greatest gaming rom if you likes to play games a lot
If you want most stable rom for daily us i would recommend gingerdx
As you've noticed a lot of the suggestions involves loading up a Gingerbread derivative that a lot of the others before me have touted as stable and would say wifi doesn't work or camera video no record etc, . I use GingerXperia V8 myself.
But since you've admittedly are a Noob to the X8 scene, I would suggest one of the favors of FROYO or Android 2.2. since everyone would agree that it has the most mature of the current X8 ROM's. And a good way to introduce you to the world of X8 modding.
Check out the links below for a guide to X8 ROMs and Rooting.

Gingerxperia v08 is the best!
Before this i tried many rom like Floyo, Froyobread, GingerDX.
But other rom cannot fight with Gingerxperia!
More smooth, more fast, less lag.
Floyo rom no more update.
Froyobread rom already final BUT always reboot auto.
GingerDX rom not smooth and still under develop.
So, gingerxperia WIN!
First try GingerDx(last version). If you dont have battery drain problem stick to it.It's the best.If you are unlucky like me and your battery drain fast try FroyoBread 023b.

Best ROM for nAa kernel???

Good Evening guys...
Wanna ask, what's the best ROM for nAa-11 now in your opinion? I used GingerXperiaRay V004 before, but then cannot change the default launcher (360 launcher). Then I try Xperience V4.0, but when I install widgets, it doesn't show in widget option. Are there any suggest for better ROMs than these? With overall functions of course As for now I still use Xperience ROM but already back-up both ROMs. How about ROMs based on Cyanogenmod 9? Any recommended ROM available now?
I was testing GingerXperiaRay V004 for some time too and I could change launcher without any problems Don't know why You can not.
From very long time I'm using iROM. First was iROM v004 on top of nAa kernel 8b and 9. But know I'm using iROM v005 on top of nAa 11. It's MiniCM7 2.1.9 ROM with better look and some changes. For me it's great
Of course it's MiniCM7-2.1.9 download it from the official site for cm

Achotjan Semc Debrand Engine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500515
or [ROM] LinuXperia Escha Arch V7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363033
+1 for Achotjan Semc Debrand Engine
Although there are some bugs:
1) USSD not working, but when you install the "fix", then messages are not working (this is what happen to my gf X8)
2) wi-fi tethering (I don't use it and I didn't tested it, although there is a fix for that too)
3) FOR SOME: wifi. I said "for some" because I think it's working afterall but many people might have done the same mistake like I did. After installing the rom, wifi was working ok, but I noticed Android system taking more than 50% of the battery, so I wiped the battery stats and the wifi stopped working (this means that you can connect to the network, but you cannot browse the web, it will not load any pages, etc). Now, after reinstalling the rom again (maybe the 4-5th time), wifi is ok but still no fix for USSD AND messages (together).
Xperience v5 deodexed
Hi all,
My personal favorite has to be Xperience v5 deodexed..
It's fast, very fast.. Games are far smoother than any other rom i've tried..
AndroVDR works perfectly so I can stream my livetv and satellite to the phone..
Calls are clear, wifi great, data great.. I must say I'm impressed with the quality compared to previous versions which i found to be really slow and clunky..
There are some great roms here, I've tried nearly all of them, but a few stand out above the others.. Xperience v5, PrimeHD, CM7 2.1.9 and S-Rom..
These, in my opinion, are the best roms for the nAa kernel..
For the best experience with ANY rom start with a clean sd card..
Have fun,
CtrlAltDel
i belive xper v5 best for naa kernel
In my opinion would say minicm 2.1.9 always fast never laggy and good gaming

For me the best choice and most stable + longest battery life is FroyoPro v2.4 with the stock kernel, it is just awesome . I have it stable at 748Mhz which is just enough, no lags, no bugs etc. Try it, it's worth it.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401733
The most stable and matured custom ROMs are generally Froyo (Android 2.2) ROMs.
The least bugs, the least trouble.
Gingerbread (Android 2.3) ROMs like GingerDX and MiniCM7 (though MiniCM7 only runs on its own custom kernel) are also very stable, but you may encouter some more bugs than with Froyo ROMs. No real biggies, just the one or another small, mostly annoying, bug.
Game on! Lol
Froyo it seems. Fast, least features (which makes it faster ) and less bugs because in the past the bugs were easier to fix. More Easier than gingerbread or ICS

minicm 2.1.9, kernel naa 11
everyting works
i'd say that i'm noob here
and the first rom is gingerdx and working fine with no problems
and with stock kernal so what about alfs?
it's very stable to me
this my opinion
for me most stable roms are: LinuXperia v5.1; v 5.5; heroDROID and now im using fdxperience v 2.4.4. Im with stock kernel cuz i cannot unlock it :/ also if u like music u should choose heroDROID. it has the best sound quality from all roms i ve been having (it was a lot of this )
I think Gingerdx version 20, it really still stable, smooth and slow more drain battery than version 22
Press thanks if i helped
Linuxperia is very stable

[Q] P990 new rom

Hello masters,
I have some problems with ( maybe ) my stock rom V20L. ( twice daily, sometimes more than once, i hear scrap sound or noise and after this sound dont play ( silent mode) any sound or notification, alarm just nothind
i must restart phone ... and after restart is all OK
I Want try instal new rom maybe test CyanogenMod9 ? or i need yours expression, because I do not know what to expect..
I never had custom rom. ( what is +pros or -cons for this rom )
I cant reclamation because i have Root
Sorry for english.
Hi!
At least you got root, that makes things easier...
Anyway, the thing is, you actually need to read yourself in order to choose the best rom... But, I can give you my opinion.
The best custom rom so far is in my opinion Temaseks CM7 KANG (my signature). I know CM9 is already available to us, thanks to our awesome developers , but it's still in alpha phase and not everything is working properly, So if I were you I would stick to CM7 until CM9 totally works. (which shouldn't take very long) But, it's your choice obviously...
Make sure to make a full backup though when you want to flash either CM7 or CM9, because you need to wipe everything when you come from stock...
Yeah he's right - in my opinion, try temasek's latest 71- its quite stable and awesome .....
Wipe everything after backup before flashing any rom so that everything works good

Hi RestInPiss,
Personnaly i use CM7 nightly With kernel swiftextrem power save.
Sorry, i can't give you the links of download because i am new user.
And it's very stable
hi , the best rom is cm7 temasek 72..
make sure u do a full nandroid backup first and when u want to come back to stock rom remember to convert to ext3 filesystem first of restore the backup..
To increase the volume like stock rome use the app volume+, and to increase the camera photo and videos quality install stock camera mod by Kostia..
Hope this helps..
Cheers
I really love nova HD +. It's CM9 based and it's getting updated a the time. But there are are few things which doesn't walk perfectly.

aokp 4.0.3 or kang 2.3.7
I use AOKP Mileston 4. In this rom there are same bugs of CM9 (no decoding/encoding video, some app for ICS are glitchy), but there rom is quite stable and smooth.
Also Temasek Kang CM7 with EtAna kernel by vadonka is a good choice =)
For me, the Chuck Norris Edition 1.1 is the most stable and fastest ROM!
Try it and luv it!
hi,
i think you should flash the rom again

[Q] Faster ROM?

Hi, I currently have GingerDX v26 on my X8... stock kernel. But I think its getting a little slow... when I have to answer, all the animations and stuff make my phone slower. Is there any good ROM that can run smooth? or any modification to GingerDX :S... I just want my phone to be smooth so I can run apps without crashing cause of the memory usage (instagram for example).
I was thinking about PrimeHD but it requires a new kernel and I don't know if its safe or something.
PrimeHD is for stock kernel to,try the v9,
Just flash it over GingerDX without full wipe
Install and reboot

My personal opinion is PrimeHd.
go for either v7 or v8
For me v9 proved to be a battery drainer.
I didn't notice a massive drain yet
The v9 is more stable, more fast and the scrolling is superb.. especially in browser
I have gdx v27 with alf kernel, with stock I have a same problem as you, but when i put a alfs kernel i get faster, smoother and better rom with no bugs on answer and animations )

Well ,the new version of GDx (v027) is what impressed me.
Try that if you haven't been able to find a good ROM.
So, ive been using GingerDX since v023. Yesterday i flashed the new version (27) and boy, I am really impressed with this ROM. Last one i was the v025, and was a very good, fast and smooth ROM. But TeamGingerDX did and unbelievable job in v27. Even stable, faster and smoother.
For stock kernel you can use GingerDX v27 or PrimeHD v9 buth works great
I think the most efficient way to boost your phone's speed is using "Supercharger v6" and also configuring android's internal taskmanager to a more aggressive balance.
Hope these can help you.
Also performance settings can have a great effect on your phone if they are set right
Sent from my XPERIA using XDA Premium.
Definitely PrimeHD... So far the most stable and fast one that I`ve tried....
hi im using gingerdx v.28 stock kernel
smooth and no bug
