Hi,
I have a 8gb class 2 sd card is it possible to partition it???
If yes can you please tell me which format to partition it in
I actually want to use s2e on my phone which is running on apocalypse rom
It is possible. U need to partition it to EXT4 format if you want to use link2sd etc...
But because it is class 2, the phone will become damn slow. So its better that you dont partition it!

If you are using s2e you almost have a partition isnt it? If you do with cmw is a partition ext 3 but if you do it with a pc you may do it fat32 i recomend you do it with cmw works fine with s2e

I can confirm that using clockworkmod is the simplest way to partition an SD.
With google I found a topic aboout using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition and I tried but without success
Class 2 is slow for app2sd
I won't give up. I'll wait for you.
I have a SD card class 2 also, but with 16Gb, I partitioned with CWM Recovery and assigned it to swap for the background app. It goes well with Link2SD.

Hey guys hope someone have experienced it but i want to know what would be the best storage location for apps? Would the phone run faster if they are in phones memory? Or the sdcard?
Is there any differece about it??
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
It depends on your sd card class a. Class 10 would be faster than internal memory
Thanks for reply.! I currently have 8gb class 4 what would u think? Keep apps on internal memory or on sdcard?
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Class 4 is enough for smooth running from sd card, but faster is better!

mine's 8gb class 4 too and it seems fine for me,well apps which has widgets etc shud be installed on internel memory, other apps and games to sd card, install app2sd,it will notify automatically whether the app can be moved to sdcard or shud be left on internal memory

With class 4 there is always problems with your phone recognizing the SD card. Class 4 will work on stock but most of the time it wont work on a custom kernel. I always suggest people to get a class 10. Search the internet you will get it for cheap
Stuff that you have running the whole time you need keep them in memory. With games i suggest putting them on an external SD card. Even if its a slow SD card you save space with your internal memory.
Thanks for the reply guys hey have someone ever tried partitioning the sdcard, and would the phone read the 2 partitions as external storage? Might be a noobi question
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
With app2sd app u create 2 partition, one for storage and one for app2sd.U see one partition(for storage),other is "invisible" because it is for moving apps to sd card.

I have a class 4 16 gb. Its is ok for running games and other stuff. For important stuff, like things that need SU and things you use daily, it is best to keep it in phone memory.

Use ext2 for the second partition. And use app2sd script to make it work =D

When you say it is slow, you mean launching and using apps is slow? Or the linking/moving process?
I'm also thinking about using one of these 2 apps, so i'm interested in the answers you will get here

What class is your sdcard? It might be that the card itself is slow?
You have the same problem when you install apps directly on the sdcard?
Sorry to post more questions than answers, but I really wanted to try it, but if it slows down apps, maybe, I will try something else.
I'm using SanDisk 4 GB SDHC

Ok, but do you which class it is?
It should be written inside a circle on your card.
Class 10 is really fast, for example. But if you have a class 4 card, or less, that could be what slows down apps.
Btw I prefer Link2SD because I can choose which apps can go to the SD Card

Maybe that is why it is slower than on your internal memory.
Did you notice the same slow down when you simply move apps on SD, the "classic" way?
By the way, I installed Link2sd yesterday, with an ext4 partition on a class 10 card, and it seems to work fine for now.
Only weird thing I noticed : with the rom I use, link2sd was unable to install the mounting script if i selected ext4 as a partition type.
When I selected ext3, it worked. I read that some roms have trouble with ext4, and others with ext3, but I didn't think I could mount a ext4 formatted partition as an ext3.
I'm using link2sd with a class 10 sdcard and there still are no lags...Everything smooth and fast (Rom: CyanogenMod7.2 RC1 by vo-1 MIRACLE Edition V4)

Link2sd is the best for me. I am using link2sd about 3 months and I can say that's the best. But if you dont think like that, you can try app2sd or s2e.

the rom itself change ext4 u made to ext3....
A little update.
After one day of use, I managed to have my sd-ext partition messed up.
It could only be mounted read-only.
I had to reinstall everything.
So maybe I will try some alternatives like a2sd.
For those who tried these apps, which partition type do you recommand? fat? ext2, 3, or 4?
I'm using Link2sd. DT A2SD is buggy to me. Link2sd works great on CM9 beta 8 with my Sandisk 8GB Micro SDHC Class 6

Go to CWM, then Advanced >> Partition SD EXT (1024mb is good, 0mb swap),
Then from mount & format, you can format SD-ext, Install scrip(Or use S2E if you like).

u can use mini tool partition wizard .
its very easy buddy
just be careful when partitioning your mircosd card because it will automatically reformat your memory card thus erasing everything that's currently saved inside.
be sure to backup you memory card's contents first before partitioning.
mini tool partition wizard is best ! Works like a charm for me .

The S3-Evolution-Beta-3-Ultimate needs Ext3 or Ext4 partition on SDcard, but how much space do I need to create on a 2GB SD Card and what's the difference between Ext3 and Ext4.

Thanks, I did this and when I connect it to a computer the memory card does not come up.
Hiya
I was previously on CM7 Kang where my 32gb sd card was used for like the default memory storage, so things like my whatsapp folder and stuff were automatically saved on my sd card rather than internal phone memory
Now I've updated to Django ICS and this isn't the case anymore. Instead, the internal memory is used as default and my sd card is in external_sd
How can I make it so my sd card is the default storage?
Cheers.
