yes me too it's may be based on ASUS ROM because the legal right from asustech and it's full with asus tools.
I still need to know what will happen to the "unlocked streak" when flashed with HC 3.2 from dell. :fingers-crossed:

You need to flash with a dell streak 7 rom. No wonder why you are having issues.

I have no idea what he's talking about, but flashing roms can never change the lock status of the modem. (At least for most devices, including dell devides)

yes i know i take it at it is

[Q] T-Mobile Galaxy Tab - Few Questions

Hi guys, just this week I got a new Galaxy Tab from T-Mobile, so far so good, but I have a few questions about it.
1-) This is my first time using Android, is there a better version or ROM for this particular tab (or another that is fully compatible) which I should flash into it which is better or gives me more functionality than the default Android installation that T-Mobile puts on it?
2-) How are upgrades of Android OS obtained? I heard 3.0 is out, any ideas if Samsung or T-Mobile will make it available on these devices?
3-) Can "Line2" be used with it? I noticed when I'm connected to Wi-Fi at home Line2 works, but when I'm connected to 3G it wont work.
4-) Is it easy to install Themes on the Galaxy Tab, any tutorials?
5-) Any specific tricks/tweaks or apps, that are a must have for Galaxy Tab owners?
Thanks in advance!
-Eli
I also just got my SGT T-mobile. What is the model number of your tablet? What is the Baseband version of your tablet? Have you rooted yours?
Mine's model is SGH-T849, Baseband T849UVJJB, and yes, I downloaded a program from this board which supposedly roots it, after installing and running the commands it said it had successfully rooted my device, now how do I know if it is really rooted?
Also what's the Baseband? lol sorry but I'm lost, this is my first ever tablet and also first ever Android OS device.

We both have the same model and baseband. I'm not sure what baseband is. You can check to see if your tablet is rooted by going to Applications and look around to see if you can find a Superuser icon.
If it's rooted, I guess your next step is to find a custom ROM and flash it.
Do you remember what you used to root your tablet? Was it SuperOneClick?
Yes, it was the SuperOneClick one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812367
Baseband is the modem you have. The modem controls the phone, wirelass data, wifi, and bluetooth. Yours is JJB.

Well, I'm not an expert but here is my experience:
1. You should flash the new Overcome experience Hermes:
http://overcome.mimzo.com/
There is also the unofficial cyanogenmod beta, but as you said the overcome is fully compatible and it will not change the feel of the Tab, just adds to the functionality.
2. The updates are two types:
# Official, these are over the air and you will find notifications in the notification area to tell you that there is a new update, or may be through kies for Samsung.
# Unofficial, which is basically flashing other ROMs whether official or custom.
# As for Android 3.0 (which is called honeycomb), it is not officially coming to the Tab. May be after the 3.2 announced a couple of days ago, but I still don't think so. Still, you might want to follow this thread as there are trials to get it fully working on the Tab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122959
3. I don't have any idea about this, as I got mine used and then I rooted and flashed it the day I got it.
4. Of course there are themes for the Android. This Overcome I was telling you about has a Gold theme. There are a lot of ways to get themes on the Tab. I myself use different home launchers with different themes. You don't need to flash anything if you are just looking to change the looks of your device. Check this out and let me know if you like it:
Go Launcher EX https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex&feature=search_result
There are a lot other but this is my favorite. You can even change the fonts of the display.
5. The most common used tips and tweaks that you should use is over-clocking/ under-volting which gives you more speed and less battery drainage.
As for the apps, these are my favorites:
Tango, Photfunia, ezPDF reader, Movies (or IMDB), Springpad (or Catch), File Expert, Go Launcher, Go weather, Google Goggles, Google Shopper, Just reader, Splashtop, Plex, GrooveIP. I guess there are more on my device but these are the ones that I found more functional and fun to use.
Hope this helps...
Thanks rangercaptain,

Any 2.2 rom is froyo (frozen yogurt).
Any 2.3 rom is gingerbread.
You can have either "flavor". They are both in the development section. Both are highly recommended.
Hi guys,
I've been visiting this forum for more than 6 months now, but I think this is my first post. I have a T-Mobile SGH-T849 GT-P1000.
Last year I unlocked it and changed it to a Gingerbread Euro. Below is the current setup:
Firmware version 2.3.3
Baseband version P1000XXJPZ
Kernel version 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
Build number GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
Tab has been working fine, with the exception of:
- often does not remember wi-fi hotspots automatically, need to switch off/on wi-fi to do this
- 3G & phone works erratically. I don't use it as a phone, but those times that I tried I noticed the phone would loose connectivity to the mobile network and needed a reboot in order to fix it.
I'd like to upgrade it to Ginger 2.3.6, but which rom should I use? I checked on the forum, but I'm not sure if I should use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380595&page=3
or any other.
Is my modem correct or should I use this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902323&page=4
to install JL5 modem?
Sorry for the noob questions.
I have a galaxy tab 7+ sgh-t869 I need to chance my build prop in order to play order and chaos online it doesn't support operating system I have no idea how to chance it or what to change it to please help thanks

Noob ? version # ? about [ROM][R2] HoneyStreak HD7 2.0 RELEASE 2(3.2)

So I downloaded & installed DJ Steve's latest build (I think)
[ROM][R2] HoneyStreak HD7 2.0 RELEASE 2(3.2)
Wi-Fi Only Version:
http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/honey...2-wifionly.zip
(I know this link wont work, but just example)
but on my DS7
the OEM version states:
StreakDroid HD7-2.0 R1
I was almost positive I installed the WiFi only R2 (this one had the data size selection 2G, 3G, 4G, etc) & R1 did not have that...
Am I missing something? Is there any other easy way to tell if your got R1 or R2?

Means gigabytes not data speed. How much space do you want for apps? Pick 2 gigs, 3 gigs, 4 gigs.
my question was about version #, not size (I know what the different sizes are about)
release 1 didn't have that, but release 2 did (I think)
Use a root explorer and look in /system/app and if you see Phone.apk; you have the 4g version. If its not there, you have the Wifi one.
i have the same thing and i think what jackedint was saying he thought he had flashed dj steve3.2 RELEASE 2, when looking on sys info the OEM version states: StreakDroid HD7-2.0 R1. so i had a look at mine with knowing i had definatly flashed release 2 to get CWM as the secret feature. so the question is, is the release 2 actually release 2 as its not stated this on th OEM version and i cant get CWM working
Yes... Release 2 does say r1 in the menus.

Are you not able to get into the cwm menu? Hold power plus volume up then choose the third option, update from sdcard.

Do not download amd install CWM thru Rom Manager. If you do it will not work. CWM is cooked into the build.

So what can I do if I have flashed cwm from Rom manager to access cwm on the build? Is there a way to revert back to before I flashed cwm with Rom manager?
Cheers

link to download is broke i believe.
So I need to reflash the release 2 Rom? Is there a way I can back up my apps so then I can use them on a different Rom.
Thanks
Sent from my streak7 using XDA Premium App
Titanium would help, other than that not much. Once you reflash do not use rom manager. Turn off the device, hold down volume+ & power simultaneously and choose 2nd option. Hold down power button and bingo, CWM.

how do i get google maps navigation working
maps works but the gps radio seems to not be work
As I can't post in the developers section yet, I'll tag it on here if thats ok.
Anyone else having any stability issues?
Mine is locking up whilst in apps, If you short press the power button, screen goes blank, then reboots.
Seems to be video related apps only at the moment, ie Youtube, BBCi player etc.

[Q] Galaxy Tab P1000 new owner: any reccomendation with roms?

Hi everybody.
I just bought my very first tablet- a GT p1000.
Now, in the past few days I've been watching vids about CM9, which I find extremely cool.
As I gather, it is nowhere near completed yet tho.
So, in the meantime, could you suggest some decent looking and 100% working rom for my tablet?
You gotta admit, this forum is not very search friendly.
I have official Froyo installed as of right now, which is not very nice.
Thanks in advance and sorry for bothering ya'll.
Cheers.
just go to the dev thread and see the most popular posts there.
I think Overcome 4.1 is most popular.
You can try Hyperdroid and Accudroid too. All are GB ROMs.
Hi, I'm a newbie as well. Flash mine with Overcome 4.1 and then Hyperdroid a few days later.
My suggestion as a newbie is to use overcome 4.1 if u don't want to use stock rom.
I use Hyperdroid coz using Overcome, I have wifi disconnecting on it's own same like when I use stock GB 2.3.3
PS: Should u choose to use Hyperdroid, mind u it's a very slim rom, many of the standard app is not installed by default. But you can always install the removed applications manually. Hyperdroid has a zip file containing all the standard removed applications.

Thanks both for the suggestions.
I checked both out already.
I also checked aestethic only personalisations via apps and themes and I have to say they're pretty nice too (might just do that while waiting for CM9 in a few weeks).
Is it true tho that official GB has wifi problems?
That's worrying, since I'll be using wifi most of the time.
Wifi issue is hit and miss.
Maybe it is wifi router dependant. Maybe 10%-20% has it.
I am fine using overcome 4.1 with 3 different wifi router.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
wifi issue was 100% caused by belkin router.
If you do have belkin router, see this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441040&highlight=wifi
If you have different router, there shouldn´t be problems with wifi

I have Netgear both at home & workplace.
Not a pressing matter after all anyway as I found out:
I managed to get a 3gb/month with no overlimit charge (only slower speed) for 5 euros/month. That'd should be plenty.
Pretty nice.
Sorry again, but what is the maximum size micro sd I could use on the P1000?
Is it 32 or 64gb?
Thanks.

[SOLVED] How too root the stock rom

Hi all!
I just recently tried to get my Wifi tether on ATT Vivid to work and it almost bricked my phone. I used the all in one tool and ended up whit a white screen. I have now managed to get back on stock, with locked bootloader and I'm ready to try again. This time, I'll ask insted of just try/fail.
I want the stock rom (or close), but rooted. Is this possible?
Should I use the all in one tool, what should I do?
I've got the Unlock_code.bin from HTC.
I have really tried to read about this, but I get confused with new/old info.
All help is warmly appreciated.
I didn't get any help here, but I found info another page.

Yeah - the "stock" Illuminati ROM works with WiFi hotspot... but I can't understand why his modded one (or any other modded one, for that matter) wouldn't work and would give these network errors. I can't imagine they would be using a different WiFi Router apk?
It's easy enough to say "stay on stock", or "it works with AT&T"... but if the stock works with other carriers, what is changing between the ROMs with mods that would break it? Hmmm.
Going to keep fiddling.

Maybe the kernel? After all...whenever yo flash a kernel you have to flash its WiFi libs...which is why if you don't have a proper kernel flash the WiFi doesn't work...just a guess though

No - it's not kernel related, I've narrowed that down. It has to be a permission somewhere - I think AT&T puts in a "check" to see if you have the hotspot enabled, and if you are using a carrier other than AT&T, that breaks it.

A) either stick with ROMs (Sense based) that work or B) return your phone to stock and exchange it. Not ALL devices are created equal meaning:.you and I may have the exact same phone/hardware but your device might not run the same ROM or Kernel that mine can. You may have just gotten a bad chip/motherboard, etc. Just an FYI.

Yeah I'd forget that ROM. You aren't restoring anything via TB as far as settings and apps go are you?

^That is the logcat section of when I try to wake my phone from sleep of death..
I CANT Return it because it is on a plan and if I do I have to pay for it to be replaced but they wont because everything and I mean everything works fine on stock. Even OC'd fine at 1.9 ghz and gamed etc etc on sense based roms and haven't had a single issue with it in any way apart from sleep of death on cm roms
just want MIUI D:

I completely understand. I went thru a MIUI phase... Actually I fell in love with it back in 2011 on my Galaxy S.... MIUI, visually, hasn't changed much since GB and while I LOVE the almost unlimited theming capabilities it feels almost outdated to me anymore.

@t3chn0s1s
It isn't Just MIUI its the fact I can't even use a single CM rom at all
MIUI is the only reason I got the One really because oh how v5 has turned out and how well it looks on the One and I get my phone, unlock the BL and root it and install it, it works and then I go to turn the phone back on after I turn the phone screen off and it wont come back on, then I test on a bunch of roms and someone said that its just on CM roms or apparently that is what it was, but so far nothing i've done has fixed the issue...
Now I wish I could get a new HTC One -.-

Yea, and since MIUI is built on CM I understand your quandary. Isn't there any claim you could make to warrant your carrier doing an even exchange? The payment you're talking about... Is that an insurance deductible?

I never take insurance out on my devices due to the fact that while I was young I made too many claims (young and reckless I was).
So basically any claim I make I pay full price for anyway.
There really isn't a single claim to make anyway. Everything works, but CM roms which obviously isn't something I'd mention.
I don't even understand why they give me the sleep of death at all to be honest.

Understood. That is a rather bizarre phenomenon that I've NEVER run into. But, to be honest it doesn't surprise me. When it comes to electronics/hardware/software almost anything is possible it seems.
