Bypass "Touch Android To Begin" - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My G1 screen is not respondent anymore, and as a result, after doing a hard reset to the phone, I cannot touch the Android to get into the phone. If I could touch the android, I would be able to use the trackball for everything else. Any help?

Nonrooted

sorry to say you'll have to repair the digitizer and/or flex cable - not to hard to do and if you need a hand finding the right parts or installing them let me know and I can help

Before when I had a g1 with no touch there was a computer program that you could controll the device plugged into the computer with the mouse, I forget the name but some google searching should find it

android commander and droid explorer both do this, but you need to be rooted to use either
(another good reason to root your phone)

HTC connect? but if it is an htc phone then it probally can be done but going from say HTC to Samsung is a real issue with the different frameworks and such
I think I meant the built in music player. My situation is I just got a wireless speaker with HTC CONNECT built in. I've tried to find a system dump but couldn't. So if I can get the music app apk that's a start. Thanks guys.

That will be extremely hard to port over to a different device. Like stated before, it relies on a bunch of framework stuff.

Ah ok. Nvm then. I found the pioneer control app pulls my music on my phone and let's Me "airplay" to the speaker. Thanks thought.

Check the Desire C forums for installing drivers on anything on Windows 7 upwards, or if available use Windows XP
Have you tried to enter recovery/boot?
Hold Volume- and Power button and you should get some feedback (either it enters boot or nothing will show up)
If there's no response try without the battery in and plug in USB, even that I think should get some response, if not try key press and then plug into USB (plugging USB in first will try to charge battery immediately and ignore expresses)
LED doesn't really show up much even when charging, I think I've seen mine lit 2-3 times.

Tried all three ways and all possible way you can do it but after pressing volume down and power button. It hasn't shown anything? Do you think its a new battery? I'd rather not spend the money to buy one but if that's the only other way.

If there's no response trying to get any response (even just using No Battery, USB and power on) then it's probably damaged or bricked, take it back because it'll be the unit itself not the battery

Before you said I bought a new battery and found out today it didn't work. Is there anyway I can fix it because I'd love to start using the HTC Desire C? Hope someone can help. Thanks
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I wouldn't even consider it unless you have the use of JTAG and a fair bit of programming/electronics knowledge and to be honest, if it's not at least lighting the screen OR vibrating when it boots up (if it does boot at all ) I'd stick with taking it back and getting your money back, it could cost you more fixing it than getting a working second hand unit
Ok thanks for your help, I'll have to try and take it back. Thanks

RMA for cracked screen

Does anyone here have experience with getting a cracked screen replaced? The device I'm talking about should still be under warranty (it's 1 and a half year old) and was bought via Amazon. Should I send it back to Amazon or directly to HTC?

Some more information... The device is still on stock, no unlocked bootloader, nothing.

If you cracked the screen yourself, then no warranty will cover it.
The point is that I didn't do so, it broke inside the pocket of a jacket. It's only one crack going from one side to the other.
Sent from my HTC Desire X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
That is still considered your fault. If you had received it that way, you could have turned it in.
I'll try to return it to HTC and see what happens. I'll post my result right here.
Sorry for the late reply, but I decided to repair the phone on my own and just ordered a digitizer / touch screen panel. Will be a bit tricky, but I've already done it with another phone.

HTC one earplugs not working

Hi!
When I bought my HTC One, there was earplugs included. They worked perfectly well for a while, then I tried to root my phone and failed, it still worked for a while, but then they stopped working. I figured it had to be the updates, so yesterday I rooted my phone successfully to 4,4 with a custom rom, but earplugs still not working.
Have anyone else experienced this?

do other earplugs still work? i highly doubt rooting your phone would break your headphone jack
Yeah, other headsets and earplugs work with my phone, and the HTC earplugs work with other phones and computers

Has the warranty expired since I rooted it, it won't help to send it in to HTC?

so other headsets/earbuds work with your phone, the HTC earbuds work with other phones.
But HTC earbuds dont work in your phone?
that seems extremely odd. can't really help you. Im pretty sure warranty is voided now that youre rooted. Why not just get another headset. the stock ones blow i used it for 1 call and gave them to a coworker haha
I bought some, but someone stole them after the first week, and I don't want to spend another $100 on new ones

You don't have to spend $100. And if you want to return the phone just put it back to stock. No warranty issues. Most don't care if you give it to them on custom roms anyway.

Alright, I will try. In Norway, quality ear buds cost at least $100
