I am no noob when it comes to flashing roms or anything. What I am new to is the sim lock feature in Samsung. I have read through the forums and visited many threads. Let me give you some background before I ask my question.
I have an N7000(duh) Swedish, I am using Tmobile US, in the US. I have used different roms and mods etc. I was using Crash v7. I then flashed Chrack 10.1. That's when my Note popped up with the "network sim lock" image. Galaxy_s unlock did not work, no new rom does. Only restoring my old backup fixed it. Now, I have never seen that message before and now it is on my backup. However, Galaxy_s unlock works on the backup. I have read that flashing an old kj4 GB rom in Odin , then rooting, then Galaxy_s unlock works. But then I guess you can't use the newer roms with LRI.
Does this mean I cannot use any rom that has a LRK OR LRI base? That is how I understand it. How do I ever upgrade to the newer rom versions if they are all lri/lrk based? I know a lot of you out there don't have this problem but for me and those of us that do, we need a straight answer. Does anyone that has flashed back to KJ4 and Rooted with the CF-root KJ4 kernel had success with a newer rom like Criskelo or Chrack that has the LRI/LRK base and has successfully unlocked their sim?
(not asking about aosp roms, just TW)
Thank you very much!
Thogh i dont have any issue with SIM lock
But i have read some review and it can be unlocked with older ROM (by installing galaxy_s unlocker), But reflashing LRK/I again relock.
Have any body tried restoring EFS backup (of unlocked state) on LRK/I ?

Thanks for the reply Doc.
I did try restoring the efs folder in lrk and lri radio based roms with no success. I even tried swapping the CSC to a few countries. So far it appears the new radios don't allow unlocking the sim.
Then,I think now Networked locked user have to stick with old ROMs
Hope for somthing new..

Yeah I was thinking the same. I'm hoping for a new radio release that works. Time will tell.
Just to add:
I am using Crashv7 and it is fine until I reboot the phone. Once the system loads I get the "network sim lock" message again. So every time there is a reboot I have to unlock the sim.

Yesterday I purchased a PAYG M7 on the o2 network. Wanting to also be able to use it with another SIM, I paid to get an unlocking code.
While waiting for the unlocking code I decided to flash a custom firmware (the stock HTC Google one).
When my unlock code finally arrived it would not work, and it appears to be due to the custom firmware.
So I've been trying to get back to the stock o2 rom (i didn't backup my one). I started by restoring a CWM backup (M7 CWM Nandroid Backup CID 02_102 1.27.206.1) that I found. This worked fine but the bloody touchscreen doesnt work!
So then I had the great idea of flashing an OTA update to the phone (OTA_M7_UL_JB_50_02_UK_1.29.206) which froze CWM.
Finally I tried performing an RUU restore using RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7... but when this got to the end it displayed a "customer ID error"...I'm guessing because i was trying to flash an unbranded firmware to an o2 phone?
So now I'm p*ssed!
All I need to do (i think) is get my phone back to a version of the o2 firmware where the touchscreen will work enabling me to enter the unlock code, and then I can flash straight back to a decent firmware.
But how do i proceed....?
Hard lesson on always making a backup before changing anything
You'll have to ask in the RUU/OTA/Backup thread if someone has a backup of the 4.2.2 ROM as it'll then work with the touchscreen

Would restoring a CWM backup 2.24.980.2 (Australia Unbranded) be of any use?
For anyone who somehow found themselves in the same situation as me, just restore the CWM Backup I mentioned in previous post ( 2.24.980.2 (Australia Unbranded)) and you can then use the touchscreen and unlock the simlock with a code
Hi all.
I was a big xda user / developer around the times of x8 / x10.
Things have changed alot
I've now got Xperia sp and is rooted via towelroot and Installed the recoveries. Bootloader is still locked and I am on stock everything
I NEED help. Can I flash a custom rom. Really want to but not.sure.if this will brick my phone. So here I am asking.for help
Thanks in advance and.if.you help I'll be clicking your thanks button.
Thanks again
Yes you can install custom roms, head over the roms zone and find the ones that in their names says "LB" which means Locked bootloader, the ones that say "UBL" are for unlocked bootloader and if the roms says both it means they work on both locked and unlocked bootloader

Hey thanks mate, I was wondering what lb stood for. Not be too long until I am contributing to builds here. I use to help build kernel and bug fixes on xda back in 2010
I love the android Dev section just don't want to brick my.device
Thanks again
Where is thanks button gone?
Also can I flash rom just like I use to
Download on my phone put in sd card boot to recovery then.flash
Going.to go for it soon will keep you informed what roms I try etc
Found the thanks button.
Need more help before I will flash a rom if you can pal?
I have build number end In.. . 205
Does a custom rom I want have to have same build number as my stock rom
Can I install this rom onto my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2654422
I see now I must flash. 254. And.root via doomlord
That guy needs a medal, he's been awesome in this.scene from the beginning
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2758935
Please do me a favour and have a look at that
Can I install it I have root via towelroot and have recoveries installed and.the same build number 12.1.a.1.205?
Yes you can, that rom is for both LB and UBL, and thanks alot mate! i've been browsing xda for a long time now but never had a chance or didn't want to make an account, but oh well, anyway's.. i think there might be better roms for you to try, that one seems like it won't get any more updates..
Also, there's cm, paranoid, pac-man for Locked bootloader, you can take a look on them too
Just make a backup of your current rom in case you want to go back
And sorry for the late reply, wasn't at home!
What about the build number do I have to find one same as my.stock build number.
Nah, anyways, there's a FTF thread that has stock firmwares to download in case you want to flash stock firmware via FlashTools
Hi all,
Been reading all about SIM unlocking my i9305 - seems it's a bit of a minefield. I've got newer Knox bootloader, would appreciate best method / things to avoid!
I think I need to downgrade to official JB - was thinking this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...305/rom-13-5-2014-official-stock-rom-t2573524
Then use the code I already have from eBay to unlock, as I understand I need a stock dialler.
Should then be able to flash CM11 again.
Couple of questions:
Would I lose custom recovery / root in this process and have to do that again?
Am I ok to downgrade provided I do full wipes?
All help gratefully received!
Cheers

Oh and one more question - if I go to official 4.3 and the unlock code works - can I just restore my nandroid CM11 backup or do I have to reflash from scratch?
Thanks
Best ask a moderator to move your post to the correct forum, anything from here can brick your phone.
Ah yes, please move to i9305 forum

I guess to simplify my question - am I ok to flash stock rom coming from CM11?
eg this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...305/rom-13-5-2014-official-stock-rom-t2573524
Thanks
Ok I bit the bullet and flashed stock (rooted) 4.3, all gone well and SIM unlock code worked.
Now can I nandroid restore my CM11 setup or will that revert the SIM unlock?
Thanks

Hello, I currently have a few Samsungs (old, S3), and they are all rooted (I am familiar with rooting, firmware loading via Odin, TWRP/CWM, etc). I have read a large number of posts on how the Galaxy S5 after 5.X is boot loader locked. I was gifted with a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5, with the Sim unlock code (and I would like to use it), however, it has been updated to G900AUCS4CPA2. To add insult to injury, I am on T-Mobile.
Forum posts have indicated that the only requirement to move to T-Mobile is to change the sim. However, it would be nice to use the wifi calling, etc (or at least a T-Mobile rom). Even though the bootloader is locked, is there a way to install a Tmobile S5 5.X or 6.X rom? It seems like installing different AT&T roms via Odin is possible, as long as they are >=5.X. Is there a way to install a T-Mobile rom via Odin?
Barring all of that, is there a way to install a totally generic rom, and not be AT&T branded/bloated/etc?
Thank you.
No. The locked bootloader prevents all of that.

Ok, but it came with 6.0 and I downgraded to PA2. So there is no way to install anything else?
Backstory: I initially tried and failed to install 4.4.2, and with more reading realized that I was on the "bootloader locked" 6.0, and that I had thrashed the current rom that was installed. I then found an XDA post on moving back to 6.0, but it starts with PA2, which installed successfully and the phone is on PA2 (the rom I posted in the beginning of the thread). So, I can seemingly install AT&T roms, as long as they are 5.0+?? I just can not move anywhere else??
Thank you for your input.
Removed because SM-G935U is bootloader locked. Please close this thread.

Flash twrp via odin: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=385035244224389793
Rom (bloated) + Kernel: re-doing rom
no-verity-opt-encrypt-2.1.zip: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=385035244224381666
Flash twrp via odin, Boot up in to twrp, format data partition, flash the rom that you copied to your phones sd or microsd card, than flash no-verity because I forgot to fix it in your kernels ramdisk.
This is a test our devies are exactly the same minus the dual sim card part. Please post back and let me know O the rom is pre rooted and the kernel is permissive too.

Crossing my fingers that something good will come of this though I am a bit skeptical.
Hi there. I TEST it on my G935T but not with out some issue. Flashing the rom TRIPS QUALCOMM SECURITY BOOT, the BINARY GOES CUSTOM. To BOOT the phone, you'll have to FLASH THE US SM-G935 Samsung_G935x_QC_Rooted_BOOT Tar file for the phone to BOOT. That FILE changes the BINARY from CUSTOM to OFFICIAL and BOOT up. Next issue, the PHONE randomly REBOOT WHILE THE WI-FI ON. Turn off the WIFI and skip through everything, and you'll be ok after that. The PHONE I used to FLASH THE ROM HAVE NO SIM CARD IN IT, So I don't know if you'll get RANDOM REBOOTS AS IT CONNETED TO LTE. As for the ROM, it LOOKS FAIRLY AS STOCK G935U FIRMWARE. I compared it with my G935T RUNNING STOCK OFFICIAL G935U FIRMWARE, it LOOKS THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE VOICEMAIL APP and the phone SAY CUSTOM. IT WOULD OF WORK, it just have to prepared different to FLASH USING FLASHFIRE app. Just a little bit more TWEAKS AND IT WILL RUN ON ALL US SNAPDRAGON SM-G935 MODELS.
Okay so what's all been debloated? Also had issues with twrp recently when I downloaded it through the play store. Next question is SU removed when doing a hard reset? Otherwise than those of definitely want to run it. Let me set up an account here, I have some questions like removing knock and stuff like that but if you could answer what I asked it'd be great.

It says this is a bloated ROM, and download directly from the links provided for the best chance of it working. There is a reason they provide the downloads sometimes.
Ok so let me get this strait. That bootimage sets the status to official? is that because its a stock kernel? The wifi can be fixed with a default.prop edit so can secure storage. Give me more info on that boot tar you guys have to use. Maybe I can modify it with my kernel blob so it boots through still.
G935U Int unlocked users, did you use crom.apk to unlock your bootloaders? If so I can compile a kernel for YOU when I get the time. But if you used crom.apk than unlocked your bootloaders, than in dev options have oem unlock checked still, that top rom and kernel should boot up. The wifi issues, you can fix by editing default.prop, secure storage also.
So I really need you G935U users to speak up like I had to tell the dual sim guys. Does this work on SM-G935U? :
Download and install S6-Crom.apk, it will allow the bootloader to be unlocked for the S7 Edge SM-G9350:

Well, I can't speak for the genuine 935U, but I tried it on my SM-G935R4 (US Cellular) and it force-closes upon opening. If it helps at all, I'm not running the stock USCC ROM, but rather the Verizon-based Stang5.0litre custom ROM that can be found over in the Verizon S7E forum. I've successfully used the 935U firmware on this phone also. Kinda makes me think it's not gonna work on a real 935U either, but I dunno.
(Oh and yeah, I've been wondering about TWRP too - Can we really flash it through Odin despite the bootloader lock?)
The G935U bootloader cannot be unlock nor can any USA S7 models that I know of. I tried to flash the twrp after installing the s6-crom.apk , but twrp won't flash and the s6-crom.apk keeps FC.

I've tried loading twrp through odin but keep getting a fail. I'm rooted and was wondering if it's easier to just add it through adb? Or would it be possible to flash it through the terminal emulator? I'd really like to get exposed on my phone lol I'm Currently on a 935A with the 935U firmware Rooted
