Yesterday I purchased a PAYG M7 on the o2 network. Wanting to also be able to use it with another SIM, I paid to get an unlocking code.
While waiting for the unlocking code I decided to flash a custom firmware (the stock HTC Google one).
When my unlock code finally arrived it would not work, and it appears to be due to the custom firmware.
So I've been trying to get back to the stock o2 rom (i didn't backup my one). I started by restoring a CWM backup (M7 CWM Nandroid Backup CID 02_102 1.27.206.1) that I found. This worked fine but the bloody touchscreen doesnt work!
So then I had the great idea of flashing an OTA update to the phone (OTA_M7_UL_JB_50_02_UK_1.29.206) which froze CWM.
Finally I tried performing an RUU restore using RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7... but when this got to the end it displayed a "customer ID error"...I'm guessing because i was trying to flash an unbranded firmware to an o2 phone?
So now I'm p*ssed!
All I need to do (i think) is get my phone back to a version of the o2 firmware where the touchscreen will work enabling me to enter the unlock code, and then I can flash straight back to a decent firmware.
But how do i proceed....?
Hard lesson on always making a backup before changing anything
You'll have to ask in the RUU/OTA/Backup thread if someone has a backup of the 4.2.2 ROM as it'll then work with the touchscreen

Would restoring a CWM backup 2.24.980.2 (Australia Unbranded) be of any use?
For anyone who somehow found themselves in the same situation as me, just restore the CWM Backup I mentioned in previous post ( 2.24.980.2 (Australia Unbranded)) and you can then use the touchscreen and unlock the simlock with a code

This guide will walk you through the steps of unlocking, rooting, backing up, etc.
Unlocking through HTC Dev will show on the device that it has been unlocked but if you wish to go the whole way and s-off following this guide you can unlock and if you have to relock at a later stage it can be done without leaving any trace.
Before you do any of this though read all you can about unlocking and s-off.
Hey all,
so I recently flashed the MaximusHD ROM for my M7 on T-Mobile US. I love the ROM, 4.3 is great, blah blah blah. But right now, TWRP won't recognize my Nandroid backup that I made on stock 4.1.2. I need a Nandroid backup I can use to restore to Stock if I so need, OR a T-Mobile US ROM for M7 on 4.1.2, so I can relock my bootloader and use my RUU properly (if I relock my bootloader, MaximusHD won't boot, thus making me unable to use the RUU).
Unless one of you fine people can tell me how to get TWRP to recognize my Nandroid backup on 4.1.2 (it doesn't show up in the Restore window in TWRP).
Thanks!
Ps. This isn't necessarily an urgent matter, but I would really love to have these things settled before I need them. Also, I tried using the extracted ROM from the T-Mobile RUU, but TWRP wouldn't flash it, so now I'm stuck trying to find something else. Thanks y'all!

Everything you need can be found in the T-Mobile HTC One forum. I suggest you and everyone else look there for T-Mobile specific needs.
Hi guys,
So I'm currently in the process of returning my device to stock for RMA purposes but I've hit a bit of a roadblock, as there's no RUU for my carrier (H3G in the UK). I've restored a CWMP backup to a H3G stock ROM, flashed a firmware that about matches the ROM I'm on, and I'm trying to flash a stock recovery but every time I flash I believe to be a stock recovery, booting into it actually starts CWM 6.0.3.1, which I assume is something to do with disabling HTC's reflashing of stock recoveries when another is found. I've searched for a few days now and have yet to find anyone in the same predicament however, which makes me think I've done something wrong. You wonderful and knowledgeable people at XDA are my final hope before it needs to be shipped off tomorrow morning!
A little more detail about the phone itself: has been updated to the 1.54 HBOOT but is S-OFF and unlocked using revone, and a 4.1.2-based sense ROM because I believe that's the highest Three have released so far.
Thanks for reading!
There something I've wondered for a while regarding going back to stock with no RUU but when there is a Nandroid...you need S-OFF to do it though and have your CID as HTC__001
1. Flash the 1.28.401.7 RUU to go back to stock - this should get the phone back working with the right FW for the Nandroid
2. Change the CID back to H3G__001
3. Restore the 1.28 Nandroid backup using CWM
4. Boot the phone and make sure it runs
5. Flash the stock recovery (assuming you can find it)
6. Make sure the phone boots up
7. Make sure it can download/install the latest OTA updates
The other way is do step 1, then do all the OTA updates up to 2.24 and then change the CID to H3G__001 and flash the Nandroid from TWRP for the H3G build but I've not tried either before. I might even give it a go tonight and see if my theory works
Thanks! That's a great idea, so the RUU is used to restore all of the other parts to stock (firmware, HBOOT, recovery) and then the nandroid changes it to a Three ROM and the OTAs will overwrite the firmware, HBOOT recovery with the Three-specific versions if they are included? At least, I hope I've understood your idea correctly.
That's my theory, but I've never tried it as I have an unbranded handset so can just use the RUU and then OTA it to the latest build. I'll give it a bash tonight and let you know later on if that's OK?
I'm on a bit of a tight schedule in that they're coming to collect it tomorrow morning but if you work something out it would be extremely useful - so long as the phone passes their tests and gets my (hardware-based) problems sorted I'll be happy either way I think your idea will work much better than my current mish-mash of different firmwares, recovery and ROM versions!
I'll be home at 6 and will get right on it. I'll hopefully have news by 8ish at the latest
OK, I can get the phone running on the Nandroid after flashing the RUU BUT you can't flash the OTA update as the recovery I used from a stock 1.28.401.7 RUU doesn't match the Three UK one (it would seem). Hopefully it'll be enough to get it back to them though
IF you could get the stock recovery from the 1.28 Three UK build you'd be good to go AFAIK but I have no idea if the one in the Nandroid is the stock recovery (I assumed not)
Alright, it seems this is my best option and to hope they don't try and run an OTA on it, with any luck they will flash the entire thing with an RUU or something to iron out all of the kinks. Thanks very much for your help, as I wouldn't have wanted to have tried all of that in such a short period.
Should anyone find this thread with a similar problem to what I described in the OP, I managed to flash a stock recovery again by using the HTC One AIO Kit by Hasoon2000, which managed to overwrite CWM where I could no for whatever reason.
Ok, I've already got around to resetting my CID to the stock CID number (VODAP102)
I'm using this site for all the downloads http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ - sadly since Vodafone doesn't seem that popular there isn't any RUUs for it, there are however a Nandroid backup, OTA update and Guru-reset.
My phone is currently S-OFF and rooted and has all the lastest firmware e.t.c, and since I can't find a guide on how to go to stock without a RUU I thought I better ask first!
Also side note, when changing firmware using the command with cmd to check the version number is fine, but when the phone is booted and I got to about>software infomation, it still shows the old software number, is that normal?
Hi, I'm new here. I need help restoring my HTC One back to the stock ROM. It is with virgin mobile in Canada. I'm trying to unlock my phone from virgin but having trouble and figure it can be from being on a stock ROM.
I have been reading for about an hour and searching for the stock RUU. Before I forget, I'm running OMNI ROM on android 4.4.2 and have CWM recovery installed.
Anyways back to topic. I couldn't find any RUU's for my device but read on here that you can restore using a nandroid backup if you can find one. Now me and my brother both got an HTC One at the same time but I went through so many ROMs and customizing it. I started with CWM and made a back up of the stock rom but kept getting errors with some ROMs so switched to TWRP and couldn't use it anymore. With android 4.4 I needed to go back to CWM but in some point when tesering ROMs I only had 3GB free of space so did a wipe and fresh install so I don't think that the original back up is still there somewhere.
Anyways. I have my brothers HTC One here and that's stock. Nothing modified what so ever. Can I make a nandroid back up or use a tool to extract the firmware from his phone and somehow use it to restore my phone back to stock, unroot, relock boot loader and get rid of the *tampered* flag in fast boot?
The phones still on contract, only had it for like 4 months and thinking of giving it back and getting an upgrade to the One Max or when the One 2 comes out but I don't think Virgin mobile will allow me to since the phones been tampered with.
Hi. I have created a Canadian stock thread. See of it helps. It is linked in my signature
