Are all those relatively strong rare earth magnets a good idea? Won't that mess with things like navigation and storage?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

No the magnets won't affect it that way. It's an innovative idea for sure but the way the N7 is held in place is plain ugly! Also there doesn't seem to be any way to fix or hold the top cover in place when it's closed.
I think it's a great idea but not ready for market quite yet, at least I wouldn't buy it as is.

Very clever but ugly. Not sure why you would want to stick your tablet to the fridge?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app

i really want one and would get it if it was like 20 bucks but looks like it will be at least 70 which is a no go for me especially since it doesn't look like it protects the corners.

Nope. The front cover, a rather important part, looks like it's got several slits in it to facilitate all of that silly folding.

Ehh I wouldn't be too sure about the internal Compass. The Transformer TF101 had issues with this and magnets.
Pretty slick idea. Looks like a great case but not for me. I hope he sells a lot of them and does well.

Looks interesting but I'll be waiting for some real users review to see if it really works well

Pretty dope!

Clever, but ugly and probably overpriced. For $20, I'd take a second look.

Doesn't look like it adds any protection, but seems like a really nice idea.
Frankly, I would love to be able to stick it to the fridge for recipes when I am cooking.

I went ahead and per ordered it from http://flipsteady.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=5 for 55 bucks. Its not the prettiest case out there but I prefer function over style most days out of the week and I do love all the options with the stand.
I will probably try to put a thin tpu case on the nexus and then the flip steady on top of it for a little more protection. Will review when I receive it.

I use my tablet when cooking brunch on Sundays, fixing a batch of cheese dip up, etc. Good for all kinds of uses.

Awesome case, too bad its $55 prob get in around $35 or lower ($29.99 would be sweet spot)

I would stay away from ROO cases. I had one for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 white and it left two marks on the back of it, where it seemed to have rubbed the finish off.

I like this guy. Deadmau5 pic and demanding genuine leather! I'm hoping for a case from these guys: http://www.vajacases.com/ - Got one for my PlayBook last year and it's awesome.
Shame they got shipped and delivered to the UK first yet there are very few accessories released here yet. Will be a while until we have a genuine leather case with the 'smart' magnetic bit.
that case has been on sale for years. it's so ugly. Giant leather bondage strap holding down your nexus 7? ugly.
I picked up a leather smart case similar to this one at Big Lots for $8.00. High quality material ! They have lots of 7" case options there for a budget price......scrarch resistant screen protectors , stylus pens , bluetooth speakers etc....
BigLots. com serach the left hand side by ELECTRONICS to see their tablet stuff.
I say patience is a virtue. We all know the tablet for what it is. You either like it or you don't. Most of us have already pre--ordered and are waiting for them to arrive right now.
As far as the caes go, I'd rather feel what they're like in my hand. Via pictures of cases online, 10 look great for ipad and other devices, however only 1-2 actually feel and function as nice as they seem to be described and pictured online.(not cheap feeling, or feeling like they'l literally fall apart, lacking features cleverly not pictured, etc.

For me none of the cover/cases on Amazon (I was at the local Best Buy to take a look at 7" stuff) are aesthetically pleasing. I ordered a "padded pouch" off Etsy.com and I'm gonna get a sturdy "case" when one becomes available.

Sleeve that folds into a Stand

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Faux-Leathe...=978172893840139427&pid=100015&prg=1006&rk=1&
Not the typical sleeve. It folds into a stand which I thought was cool and you can enjoy the n7 without having something bulky/clumsy around it.
Now that's more useful than that stick-it-on-the-fridge-door thing that's been posted.
/off to check eBay uk for one.
Let us know if you buy one. Would like to know how it performs. Looks pretty cool. Good find.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
That's pretty handy to me as i hate cases when I'm playing games on the tablet but I'd like a sleeve and a stand for it
I also wondered if there's a sleeve like the BlackBerry cases which have magnets in them...in the phone they were used to silence the phone but here it would be useful to wake the tablet up while you're pulling it out of the sleeve
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
That kind of sleeve would be useful, and if this case was any cheaper, I'd buy it, but for now I'm waiting till I get my actual device and get my TPU on it before I look for sleeve that can hold it in its tpu case.

It looks way too oversized to me. Love the concept but I wouldn't buy one twice the size of my tablet.
That is a pretty neat idea - I'd think about picking up a non-leather version.

My DIY in 2 minute tablet stand for the lazies

Hi guys,
I wanted to buy a tablet stand for a while, but they're either bad or way too expensive, which means that if I want crap, I better do it myself.
The UPS carton from the Nexus 7 was hanging out next to my desk for weeks so I decided to just take it, cut a piece, and make it look like a stand. I did it pretty randomly and it turns out not bad at all. This definitely solves my stand issue. I'll probably improve it a little more by adding some duct tape so it can last a bit more that 2 weeks.
This will literally take 2 minute of your time if you wanna give it a try. I love it so far.
Pictures: http://imgur.com/a/jr464
Not bad if you don't have spare DVD cases laying around (that stand is a little more stable and longer-lasting), but edit your pictures and downsize them, they're too big for the forum!
-Ara
Woops, replaced it by an imgur album, thanks
I made one from a dvd case. Thing works awesome. It holds my N7 while in a case too. I often use it at night to charge.
I used a spare Xbox 360 case so mine is neon green.

Cool...I saw that stand at Walgreens and thought it was pretty cool. But they want over $10 for it, and I've already got a $30 stand ( bought for my old ex-Prime ) and another simple silicone stand. But the one you have does tempt me every time I see it
What about this?
I got this for my nexus 7:

Gawd I never thought i'd be shilling for gamestop but for $5 you really can't go wrong.
Sorry for the (gnex) crappy pic but you get the idea, the slots that the tablet fit into are super soft rubber (coated) and it folds completely flat.
Just go around your house and look for an unused picture frame prop.
I just thought I'd share mine.
I still need to trim off the glue, cut off the excess cardboard and paint it.
That's a cool idea. I make one for my kids.

New Portenzo Hardback Case/Cover

Brand new Portenzo Hardback case. This was just released and is currently on sale for 2 days only @ $19.95! Watch the video for a demo of the super stick grip tape.
I'm still a very happy Portenzo BookCase customer. their quality and customer service is outstanding!

It does, but the Dodo is way more expensive and only available in 4 colors. Portenzo has a better reputation, less expensive and way more colors to chose from. Looks like I am buying another Portenzo today!
I will post pics when I get it.
Was liking it until I saw the adhesive approach to securing the device. Like everything else about it - moleskine type design, quality materials.
Anyone have any experience with the sticky pads?
Do they leave any residue if you remove your device?
I'm assuming they are a one time use as well?

If it's anything like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008A1XN28/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
Then the "sticky" is extremely sticky!
Enough so that when I tried to remove the N7, the back cover came off the tablet!
I don't mean that in some awful "it broke!" way...it's just that the adhesive is stronger than the tablet's back cover retainers.
So if you were scared to pry open your N7 with a screwdriver...this is an alternate way to open it.
But if you're careful and go slow, the tablet comes off and there is no residue.
The adhesive can be wiped down with water and when it dries, it's good to go!
I tested the case on my N7, then put my Galaxy Tab 2 7" in it, then back to the N7.
Since the Portenzo costs more than twice as much...I'd hope their adhesive is just as good if not better to work with than the $9 case!
Ordered mine yesterday in firetruck red! Pretty excited about this. I was looking for something classy but with thin profile so Bookcase came close but this hardbook was a better fit for my needs.
Does anyone now how long it takes for them to ship? Happy Friday all
I wonder how the quality compares to the dodocase.

I have the casemate tuxedo for the kindle fire using the sticky pad. It's re-usable and does not leave a residue. I sent my first kindle back and got a replacement from Amazon, no issues re-applying the pad on the replacement, just as sticky as the first time.
cant make it stand though, so a big nono for me
was going to wait till i got home to order but byt he time i did the price was back up to 39.99 :crying:
Looks like a good alternative to the Dodocase! I managed to place an order before the sale ended too. At $19.99, it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Looking for a Solid Keyboard case similar to the Transformer

I use my GNex10 for business a lot. I'm in Inusrance and it's such a convenient form factor to carry around. Even compared to my Lenovo x220. The instant "powerup" of android and the long battery life are so nice. I use it to carry reference material (pdfs), do quick google searches, and even do online applications/sales. Saving me from tons of paperwork every night.
I have a "M edge" bluetooth keyboard case that's not bad, but it's flimsy and difficult to use if not on a flat surface. I was dreaming, like many, of google releasing the official keyboard dock, but as we know that never happened. Are there any good keyboard covers/cases out there? I want something sturdy that will turn my Nexus into a transformer minus the IO problems...
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 4
I would be interested in this too. I haven't seen anything like it but it would be nice if there was it would be really nice for me because I use mines for school. I had a poetic one but it just didn't feel good because of the bulkiness even though it was a good case

I've been looking into this too, and this looks good:

Anybody got any experience with it? Thinking of taking the plunge...
EDIT: I've just purchased this. I'll update when it arrives with my findings in case anybody is interested.
please let us know how it is. I'm debating jumping ship the the new asus transformer once it comes out in November.

That case looks nice but is it reliable? The screen on the nexus 10 is all wrong unless it was an unlocked one with a custom ROM. It had the touchwiz theme and the tablet Ui, but that's what I was looking for so if I find one on amazon like it I'll buy it and tell u how it is depending on the price

OK, so it turned up annd I'm typing this reply on it now! Contruction seems pretty good, it is made from a mixture of aluminium and plastic and feels robust.
Typing on it isn't ideal... the keys are somewhat smaller than a full size keyboard. It's not too bad though. I reckon once i've got a little more used to it I should be able to type pretty quickly on it. It's already MUCH quicker than using the onscreen keyboard!
There doesn't seem to be any lag when typing. The gap the tablet slots into is well made. The tablet feels securely docked, I think the may be a magnet holding it in place as I can actually pick the tablet up when docked and it brings the keyboard with it!
I like the way it clips on to the front of the N10, doubling as a protective cover when travelling. It also makes a great stand for your tablet.
Overall, colour me impressed! Like some of you guys I was considering the latest Transformer but I think this keyboard is enough to put me off. For 20 pounds I'd definitely reccomend it.
Downsides: It's a US keyboard, so no pound key. It's not super light: It probably weighs a couple of hundred grams alone. I doesn't have a touchpad mouse, though to be fair given its size I don't think it would be possible to fit one it.

Does it really hold the device steady enough? The reviews for this keyboard on Amazon are terrible. Apparently it is prone to screwing up the bezel and dropping the N10.
