Update
Villan ROM 1.0.1 ok no sim lock
please check your imei and report if its other than valid.
if it was valid lets try solving ur issue.
I had exactly the same problems with those ROMs yesterday. The only solution was to go back to a rooted GB ROM, use Galaxy S Unlock, then upgrade to a XXLRG rom. Is it a 4.0.4 issue ?
Same issue with 4.0.4 -- XXLRI ---> locks the phone (unfortunately, they sold me a sim locked phone, it was not evident at first sight!)
I restarted from GB (KKA) - unlocked with Galaxy_S unlock - then 4.0.3 (XXLQ3).
Galaxy_S unlock did not work with 4.0.4 for me.
Tank you for sharing any one else

Just flashed KIngdroid ICS Notemania 5.1.1, Modem LRB.
It does not sim lock your device
So am I correct in assuming that this will happen to people who have bought phones specific to a network provider? That's when we call it "network locked" right?
If you have bought your phone from a store and you can put any sim card, then this problem will not occur. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
nope. my friend's phone was bought outright via samsung store in malaysia. definitely an unlocked phone. not tied to any carrier or mobile plans.
this happened to him when he swapped from fusion 2.5 rom to fusion 3.0 rom.

you can install villain 1.0.1 and unlock with galaxy s unlock.
It works but you have to unlock at each reboot.
I had updated to 4.0.4
is the only way of solving this network problem to downgrade to GB then use galaxy s unlock to solve the problem?
if at all possible would someone be willing to check my imei for me to see if its still doing okay?
thanks!!
Same here! I have a GT N7000 i upgraded from GB to ICS 4.0.4 and it locked my SIM card, i've tried requesting an unlock code online many times but it didn't work!
Now i'm seeking to downgrade to GB, root, and use the Galaxy_s unlock... Will that work??
Phone simlocked with ICS 4.0.4 XXLRK
Hi everyone!! I'm new to xda and actually i'm facing an issue with my Note. ( Kernel:3.0.15-N7000XXLRK-CL811902) I was using ICS 4.0.3 until a few days ago when i decided to update my phone to ICS 4.0.4. I got the phone from a friend unlocked completely and i was able to use any sim card from any operator.
Since yesterday morning I can't use my personal phone number and this is an important issue for me. Can anybody please help as I'm not well versed with tempering with android and phone.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S rooted with firmware Froyo. What do I have to do to upgrade the firmware to Gingerbread?
First we need to know if your phone is locked to a service provider or unlocked, and what region you are from, as most models have now been offered gingerbread via keis.
The phone is locked and Im in Australia

If you are already rooted it would be much easier for you to get gingerbread, you need a gingerbread rom with gingerbread bootloaders, the first link in my signature will take you to sammobile's firmware page.
I remember the JVP rom to have gingerbread bootloaders, you have to flash the files using odin, re-partition checked and pit file 512.
You should really check before if you are locked to a network.

I've been searching, and I'm unsure on what to use to root my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000B (Telstra). It's a slightly different model number, and I just want to know is there a way to root the thing and install CWM without bringing up a triangle and increasing the counter? I already purchased MobileOdin btw.
Model: GT-N7000B
Firmware: GINGERBREAD.DVLC1
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-N7000BDVLC1-CL1006149 [email protected] #2
Baseband: N7000BDVLB2
Thanks
Have you tries superoneclick, rooting will remove the Telstra ****

Nope, no go, it's not directly rootable. Has anyone rooted an N7000B?
Why would you want to root it, that's what your wife or gf is for. jokes aside let me know how you go I just got mine on Tuesday and am yet to root it .
Well I am not sure if anyone has tried an N7000 rom on an N7000B. I didn't want to end up with a shiny new brick, thats why I asked here. I already have done a search and all I got was vague answers. Has anyone successfully flashed/gained root access on an N7000B?

I'm sure it would be fine. I am running ics on my N7000 but shows as I9220 in baseband as it's based on Chinese leak ROM with same hardware.

I would also like to know this. My phone is exactly as above (also from telstra au)
...I dont really care about the yellow triangle or counter though(I can sort that out later when there is more support for this model)
I would like to be sure that the process will not brick the phone, this would suck as its only 2 days old .
best if I know that someone else has done it first
thanks.
The n7000b is just a firmware. you can flash another firmware (and it will not brick your phone). the only down side to this is you won't be able to go on the telstra mobile websites, eg. mobile foxtel,
Anyone brave enough to try to root this one?
I just got my note today and would really like root access....
bump
I'm interested in seeing how this goes as well. The itch to root and flash something better than Telstra's rubbish is growing but I am nervous about the process (it seems vastly different to my old Desire).
I find the stock rom not too bad.. GREAT battery life, the only thing I want root for is to record my calls (use it for work).
I have a call recorder installed on my stock Note that doesn't require root. Got it off the market too.
It's called Call Recorder.....

isnt mobile foxtel just an app...
Anyone done this yet?
I tried the call recorder apps off the Market but none seem to record properly, they just use the speaker.
My note originally from Poland (!) bought via UK back in early November (can't believe I've had my wonderful toy for over six months now!) Given that there were very few Notes back then and next to none in Oz, I was very nervous about rooting and flashing - the challenge you are facing today. I spend many days reading nearly all the threads before biting the bullet and doing my first root!
All I can recommend you do is read Dr Ketan's flashing guide very carefully and make sure you have a backup. I've had a few nervous moments with black screen but always been able to recover by rebooting into recovery and restoring a backup. I'm on Telstra and never had a problem with any firmware I've used (I don't using Telstra Foxtel)
I know that the latest version requires you to flash an older version of ROM before you can root, but once done you can remove all the annoying rubbish and use great programs like Titanium backup to backup and restore the apps you want and freeze the CPU hogs!
I hope that helps you - my experience was different and I felt very alone the first few times I flashed (never having done it before) but the forums have been a godsend in helping.
PS I have never used Mobile Odin - I have found that CWM does all I need it to
So if the WiFi freezes on the N7000B, would it use a different WiFi chip or something? I did hear that the N7000B supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz where the N7000 supports 2.4 only. Not sure if this is true
Hi, I've had the n7000B for awhile now. and flashed most of the firmwares from n7000 model with no problems. been on GB, ICS. all spec about these models are the same. but still haven't found out why this is B on our model.
anyway it is safe to flash n7000 on n7000b!
Hi iam a newbie
I have been seeing lots of thread where note users are willing to go back to GB from ICS
And also have seen threads with NOTE BRICKED with OFFICIAL ICS OTA GERMAN rom installed via kies or OTA .. And also about eMMC bug or somethkng i heard which requires the note to be send back to samsung.
I love my note on GB but ics is ics afterall thats why i want it but my question is and i apologise if it annoys anyone as i am a newbie
So if i change my region by the easiest method without any bricking risk of changing SCS TO DBT OPEN GERMAN and then upgrading to OFFICIAL ICS VIA KIES OR OTA so will all these errors, bugs and note getting bricked, eMMc bug etc etc
Are they likely to happen to me as well? ?
Or is ot only happening on those Galaxy note which have installed official ics open germany rom via odin and other risky ways. . Or only to those note who previously had rooted and were using on custom roms. .
So plz can anyone clear my confusion so i can finally decide weather or not to upgrade to ics. ..
tnx in advance
Details regarding my device : bought 3 weeks ago. Never rooted or used a custom rom and No intention of rooting or using custom rom in future.
Plz provide the advice so i can make a decision on weather or not to upgrade.

hello m8. Like u i'm also a newbie. I can tell you that i've recently bought my note, unlocked version.
Today i've rooted it twice, @ 1st using europe rom and then france rom with portuguese csc.
Rooted it teice because with the first riot in kies started to say that i couldnt upgrade it.
Then aftwr many reading i've decided to upgrade to 4.0.3. Used dr. Ketan guide in the dev section and worked fine on my phone. I've tested alnost everything and till the moment i have not encountered any bug or mal function.
But as they say in the post there are some reports of some bugs or even worst some notes that "died".
I leave here a screenshot after the update.
Cheers
Thnks for the info mate
But i really dont wish to root thats why after seeing the thread which said uograding by just changing region plua widout root thats what made me confident enuf to finally go ahead and upgrade and give it a try..
But still worries me as daily i see threads here created with someeones brick either stuck in odin or recovery etc or either bricked bc Of ics.
So i want ics the easiest way possible widout root and thats only possible by changing region using those codes and selecting DBT and then kies and OTA server treats ur note as a german made note and u can then upgrade to ics... So i wanted to know even those who have uograded this way hav they also the chance of getting these bugs and emmc errors brick etc
If yes then i will wait for a fixed update by samsung

Hi, I just received an i9220 from my Chinese girlfriend which is basically the same Galaxy Note as the N7000 only with a different code and firmware. Now being in the US and the i9220 being bloated with Chinese crap apps and no Google Play store, I am trying to convert the i9220 to N7000 firmware. I saw a couple threads having it done under ICS, but none under Jelly Bean. Could you guys help me with the required files and steps to do this operation?
Thanks.
These are the specs :
not very sure.. but i think the N7000 roms will work on this phone as it has the same hardware.. but still do it at your on risk..
It did work by using the n7000 official Hong Kong rom available on sammobile. It works perfectly well with the Play store and all the Google apps this is great! The only small problem is a small yellow rectangle upon bootup. I guess I could live with that.
So to confirm, it is safe to use a n7000 rom.

Sweet! Thanks!
Actually there is an issue :crying:
Since i was on Wifi the whole time I just realized that my mobile data doesn't work...
I get proper signal seeing the E-3G-H-H+ depending on my location, seeing the download upload arrows working, but there is no access to internet or to any other app.
What do you recommend me to do?
