Hi all...
PLEASE help me...
I have a problem with my CWM v4.0.1.5 that is not able to mount /sdcard.
I updated my previous CWM v3.2.0.0 r3, because I wanted to install GingerDX v028b that requires a CWM (014+) in order to install it.
It seems that it's ONLY me who's having this problem, because I haven't found any other thread regarding it after searching the forum.
I'd be really grateful for any help I could get.

can you unlock bootloader if you can just flash a kernel then you'll have a fully working one

Am thinking of unlocking it, but am still very new to all this...so maybe I might try it after a while..
Thanks for the suggestion.
BTW, I've tried installing GingerDX with CWM v3.2.0.0 r3, and I succeeded....BUT, the SD Card seems to be unmounted (it is not detected).
Is it because I didn't install it with CWM (014+) or is it a known bug...?

Hi!
I just installed the ICS port Alpha 9 and now I can't acess recovery even though the changelog says it's fixed. Is my phone now bricked? I can boot and acess the sdcard but are the old recoverys possible to use with ICS.
So a possible solutions would be to move this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970842 app to the sdcard and install it but would that work???
Please answer!

Yes I installed it on stock kernel and alpha 9 was supposed to fix the problem but it didn't so i applied the fix you linked me to but it still doesn't work. Not CWM nor xRecovery.

Clockwork mod recovery is a special android recovery that is made esp. for cyanogenmod and rom manager app. This recovery is able to handle flashing of roms, create backup and restore and do many other advance things, which are not possible to do via stock recovery.
If you don't have problem falshing cm7 then, why are thinking too much about installing CWM recovery? I suggest you give it a try and I guarantee that you'll love both clockwork mod recovery and cm7 custom rom. Good Luck! with the flashing.
P.S. DOn't use ROM MAnager with Galaxy Mini.
Thanx guys for the stupid newb questions!!
I successfully rooted my phone no problem at all, while I was on a role I decided to have a go at installing ClockworkMod, following These instructions I downloaded all files ran odin and booted my phone to download mode I connected it, and odin found the phone, so I pressed start and it didnt appear to do anything. The phone didnt reboot and I got no status messages. I followed them exactly.
I might try again tommorow on another PC.
anyone else experienced this?

Maybe the title was misleading as Why Clockworkmod?
Maybe that's why he replied about stock and custom recovery.
But the content in the post was clear, as the OP said about why the CWM app needed for installing ROMs, but the Thread title should be clear enough though, as it should be more like Why Clockworkmod app?
yes thats exactly what I meant coolsandie, and noted I could have worded the thread better. its been a while since iv done the whole forum thing. but, thanx for the tips guys
Hi there,
I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191 to root and install CWM recovery on my Note XXLRK.
After reboot, I had CWM 6.0.1.4.
Then I installed app I had in my old phone : rom manager. It told me to flash recovery to be able to use it, so I did it.
It flashed to version 6.0.1.2 !
I tried to flash again with root method below but recovery still to 6.0.1.2 now.
I've heard about brick risk when flashing a rom with this version.
How can I upgrade recovery back to 6.0.1.4 ?
Is it dangerous to flash a rom (cyanogen 9.1) with cwm 6.0.1.2 ?
Thanks
Seems I have no answer yet, I'm sorry I have forgotten to say it was a question !
So here new informations :
I updated with new 2.7 pack (posted by PhilZ today).
Now I have :
- CWM touch 6.0.1.4 when I start with vol up + home + power
- CWM 6.0.1.2 when i select "reboot in recovery mode" in rom manager...
This doesn't really disturb me, I just hope it will not cause problem when I'll flash to cyanogen mod 10 (I'm on stock ICS 4.0.4 right now)
If someone could confirm it will not blow up...
Thanks in advance
As far as I know, rom manager is not compatible for now, so better not use it.
Thanks for your answer.
Should I uninstall it, or can I keep it but just don't use it ?

You can leave it installed.
You can flash only recovery from Phillz, read last 1-2 Page of that thread

I've just read that.
I will not use rom manager anymore, unless I am certain it does'nt make a mess.
If you like bootloops
CM derived ROMs will never run along a stock kernel. You should keep the kernel CM ROM comes with

I'm a bit lost with that, I really should read other tutorials, as I don't understand why I can't go from cwm + stock 4.0.4, to cm10

Keep in mind that the included recoveries in that tool kit are outdated and therefore won't be able of flashing KitKat ROMs. If you plan on using it, you must download the latest recovery you want to use yourself and replace it in the tool's sources.

The log says CWM can't open the ROM's .zip file. Might be a bad download.
Greetings from my Nexus 7 FHD!
Thanks the help to everybody, it was hard but i could flash vanir rom finally.

I read that people who were using TWRP have some problems while fleshing some roms and kernels.Did u have some problems? I am using CWM because never had any issues with it untill now.To be honest i dont even know how big of a dil is this error i get while trying to wipe dalvik catche.
This is not a problem at all. It just indicates you don't have an ext-sd partition (by default nobody has it).
