In Brazil we have a public petition asking to LG agility on this. Ice Cream Sandwich will be released next month and we can't get gingerbread yet:
The original link (in portuguese/br) is:
http://www.peticaopublica.com.br/PeticaoVer.aspx?pi=LGO2X
Citizens undersigned, here by request comes, a position on the software update from mobile phone model LG P990 OPTIMUS 2X, since the LG device sells in Brazil as the "largest processing power in the world", and in fact, it's extremely outdated, does not match the expectations of buyers.
Around the world LG is delaying all the deadlines for update our phones, disregarding the consumers.
It's unacceptable that our smartphones dont run the system 2.3, since this same hardware is already running newer S.O on T-Mobile U.S. version - LG G2X since july/2011.
We would, at least have a real date, since we are customers of the brand, and we was buying the phone, the update was a decisive factor. We trust on the responsibility of the LGE in Brazil, to provide some kind of information to its Brazilian customers.
If you want to help too, sign the petition and join us (translated to english):

Can totally agree about how the LG O2x has hardware that deserves the latest build but do think we expect too much from LG since carrier related too.. many years ago there would be hardly any updates on WM yet the community pushed with leaked builds and the users got to get fresh builds with most bugs solved by chefs etc... my point being take a look @ class action taken over the 3D drivers issues with Kaiser it really gets no where I'm sure LG will come up with the goods its just a waiting game in the meantime flash user created builds and set your phone up too rock!

i hope its work bro...
I dont really care. We have topogigi 1.7, GR3 and CM7. Surely these are better than what LG will bring to us.
I don´t want any official gingerbread anymore. Now I want ICS!
If LG is going to update to ICS I dont know, but I will jump to CM8, even without a2dp and fm radio.
hope so too.
Signed all The problem is that i want FM radio, A2DP, HDMI, and i also want USB host, because tegra 2 supports it. Only LG can give us theese features fully working.
P.s. Sorry for my very bad English.

Why not ditch GB and go directly to ICS?
like this.. i hope LG give us GB on first week in October..

LG Uses Facebook To Confirm Ice Cream Sandwich For Optimus 2X And Other ‘High-End Smartphones’
Well this is a sudden turn of events. After previously stating that the phone would not be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich, LG has confirmed Android 4.0 will be coming to the Optimus 2x as well as other high-end handsets. Hit the break to see the official statement from LG’s Facebook page.
“LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.
Thank you very much.”
There you have it kids. Straight from the source itself, Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming to LG after all. Given LG’s notorious history of lagging behind with the updates of its devices, it will be curious to see when Android 4.0 becomes a reality on their handsets. That of course, is if LG follows through with its commitment to the ICS update for the Optimus 2x and other select devices like its other US counterpart, the T-Mobile G2X.

but LG didn't deny they don't provide ICS to optimus black
Yeah, I don't think they consider OB as an high-end handset ...
Horse sh**...they were the ones who posted that they will not bring ics to g2x.
I wil' buy ob if either lg announces that they will provide ics for ob or somebody assures me that there will be some unofficial port to ob definitely.
Please help me guys.Iam in dilemma
any help would be appreciated
I can't provide any assurance (and I don't really understand how can you request that), however, I'm pretty sure that CM7 support will get to be official in a while, and once that happens, I guess that we'll also be receiving ICS as soon as CM7 gets it as long as there are enough developers working on this phone Support our developers to get them motivated and show them that you care and you'll have ICS on your phone long before LG releases the update (just as I have gingerbread on my phone right now via CM7).

ics is already ported to single core samsung google nexus s and it is running smoothly. So there is no doubt that ob gonna run ics smootly. Its upto the devs
For me, I will NOT recommend any LG phone to anybody.
When I purchase an open source OS phone, thw most important thing for me would be the continuous support.
If I will not have it, I prefer going to Iphone..

Hi guys, just a quick one.
What's the ods for us ever getting hw acceleration on our devices running cm9?
As soon as LG releases ICS for this phone.
I think devs are waiting for ics official release from lg, due to missing source codes. (Makes sense? )

LG says Q2. But LG is never on time with their updates...
Here's the official announcement.
I hope they keep the timeline...
If i remeber correctly then they were 2-3 months late from given release date on the 2.3 update
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk 2 Beta-6
I think the more important is if it will ever be updated to ICS... Even late 2 or 3 months will be nice to receive the update. Our device goes to the 3rd update of the os and that's fantastic. As probably the last update for it, if I was in charge at LG, I would want to leave a good job done in this device, like a very well refined and stable ICS version. But it's only my opinion... For them, big companies, only matter our pockets...
Cheers

From my memory, they were 7 months late with their Gingerbread promise. So I'm gearing myself up for stock ICS by Christmas 2012.
Yupii christmas gift's!!
Thank you LG. (Not.)
The best we can do is to always be happy with the wonderful work of the devs in here. And always don't forget that they do that in their free time...
Cheers

But i dont think ICS will be late cause they've to make very few changes for ICS. Only big thing is HW accelarated video playback. But as LG uses tegra2, nvidia will provide LG responsible closed source binaries. And LG has very bad reputation about software updates in the past so they wont repeat it with ICS to stay in market

all they say is that they start updating, and that means they start to work on it and not release it.
so dont be disapointed when its not under the tree

I totally agree that LG will probably miss their promised update time, but it DOES say they'll release it in Q2...maybe you should read it again.
"During the second quarter of 2012 upgrades will begin for the following smartphone models: the LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG my Touch Q and the LG Eclipse."

Did LG already mention Jelly Bean for the 4X somewhere? I just assume, that they'll offer it ... it'd be very weird not to on such a new phone and with the big improvements of Jelly Bean.
Our 4X needs unlocked bootloader, we'll have full working CM10 then
Heard somewhere LG phones will get JB at the beginning of 2013...

If not there is always CM10, I'm stoked about getting that loaded on my phone
No official JB for this phone, LG`s reputation will surely drop down to zero.

looking professionally on their stocks, their display division already lost 60% of their stock value comparing about 12-14 months back, so currently LG is no good investiment at all.
but on the topic of development, LG decided to put alot more effort into licencing security and abuse, so upgrading the o4x platform is a little bit more work probably comparing to other vendors which looks a little more western on their opensource and openminded politics.
remember that LG comes from a society where dupe's are all around and copyrights on copycats are important piece of their product. so their social thinking is far from openminded since their daily spirit in a sharing community is totally black and filled with copycat clones and people stealing other developers work and companies selling cheap fake models.
LG got too much asian culture where some of the others like samsung got more western like appreciation, although being 100% Korean

We will get another small 4.0.3 update (V10e) and later in Q4 JB.
They should start offering a possibility of unlocking the bootloader. Even Motorola now offers a way to unlock on their website now!

This has been discussed before. That list is for Korea and there is no 4X in Korea so it's possible that 4X will still get Jellybean...
I Think LG Will Not mess with updates this time
Nvidia said that "Providing drivers will not at all be a problem, So.... I think Nvidia gives good support for drivers."
If Nvidia messes up then HTC one X,HTC One X+ and another Tegra core Devices will be washed out. Which are High end devices.
And Since Lg got its first Contract with Google this time i hope they respond Fast for updates....This is the best time for them to flush out into market..... According to Present market When Nexus 4 comes into market S3 Price drops Down, At that moment Optimus G pushes Up Lg sales,,,Anyway S4 is coming.
And result.. They should try maintain there standards so they keep on going.Matias Duarte(Director of user experience) of android says Lg is the first brand that made them feel satisfied of there all Nexus devices. They also said Lg supported them to implement all there technology to ther Effort.
I think Everyone know Nexus 4 is the fastest Mobile on planet....:fingers-crossed: I wish i had one .
Anyway, I do not need updates from LG. I wan Cynogenmod 4.2 Update for 4X. which work is already in progresss.
Where all progress stops is :::::::::::::::::::::::No Open Bootloader:::::::::::::::::::::::::
Hope We will get Update Soon
this misleading/misinformation title thread should be removed to prevent any further confusion on 4X HD user, as LG never say anything on it...
