Incall volume speaker volume very low - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i did nothing like deleting stuff with root uninstaller or installing other scripts but in call volume suddenly became very low , it was ok for let say one month and i don`t know why now is like 50% from before , while in call i put volume on max but still its very low, i tried to access service menu with that *#*#and that big number but after entering nothing happened , maybe its not for SGA 5830.
Any idea how to increase in call volume ?
I`m using XperiaTized V12 GT-Xperia S 2.3.6, xxkph , battery extender kernel.

Might be the simple answer but
Have you damaged the small speaker by getting it wet or getting something stuck in it.
Are you getting a bad signal?
Try re-flashing your baseband.

build.prop solution ???
i found some articles for other samsumg models where i found that some build.prop modification can increase incall volume , that line does not exist on s5830 build.prop so ANYBODY to offer some solution , pls

Same problem here on
Cm7 all versions except cm7.1 from griff
Almost all stock roms except
Kpo
Dunno why but its really low...

Volume+ can be your solution..

Volume+ next to try
re-flashing baseband did not help , i tried every baseband i found, flashed it via odin and via cwm and still volume very low , i`l try Volume+ now but i think that it will boost every volume except in-call

nothing from volume+ , inn fact i tried all "volume" word containing apps from market (free versions) and still volume remains very very low, maybe it is some hardware problem and i need to take it to service , bad thing is that warranty is long gone.

I had a similar problem with a Galaxy Jo and after I tryed Volume+, edited configuration files and flashed some custom firmwares the problem some dust/dirt in the speaker holes ... Now can be funny but the problem was only during phone-calls, while notifications and music seemed to be fine...
So chek if is not an "hardware" problem especially if it appeared from one day without reason

Yes i will check , i`m little bit afraid to open the phone by my self so first i`m going back to stock firmware , if that one don`t help next will be dissembling

[Q] System Volume problem Help!

My Galaxy S I9000 system volume decreases every time my phone restarts. It just goes to 0%. I don't know why. I'm now using XWJPA firmware. My guess is that some apps in my phone does it, turning off the system volume automatically, and it happens only in Froyo 2.2 However, is anyone here knows this issue, please give me a solution to it..
Thanks a Lot guys ^_^

[Q] My loudspeaker turn off on its own.

Hi fellow developers (Im not a developer myself)..
I just bought 2 Samsung Galaxy i9000 (1 for me and 1 for my GF).I did upgrade my i9000 to Froyo (using KIES) while my Gf's still on Eclair.
I found out that my phone is more often have problems than my Gf's one. Sometimes my phone is more laggy than my Gf's phone, But i thought it might be because of the software that I downloaded and installed on my phone(I am a heavy downloader)..
But in this few days, I found out that my found have a sound problems when using application or message notification for a couple of times. The sound volume getting lower.. When I try to check I found out that the sound is came from the front speaker(calling speaker) instead of back speaker(loud speaker)..It turn from loudspeaker on its own..I just can turn it back after restarting my phone..I dont believe it is cause by hardware..But I do not know the actual cause for it..
I am very much hoping for some help here..Thank you very much in advance..
Factory reset first back up data before though .
That fails its a service centre .

[Q] I cant hear the caller but he can hear me.

I cant hear the caller but they can hear me. But the problem is that when i reset the phone evrything works fine then.... for awhile. Now it started to happen more and more often. Once every day i have to reset the phone.
I didnt have my phone moded so i moded it with latest darky mod, and still it didnt solve the problem.
It hapens also when im using in car parrot instalation. They can hear me and i cant hear them.
But when i put them on speaker i can hear them. Weird!
Is that a software bug or hardware?
If you did not have a custom rom i would take it to a service centre .
jje
Do you use a Voodoo custom kernel?
If yes - and you use an older version of the Voodoo control app with the setting "Direct DAC" this would be the result. Upgrade the Voodoo app.
I had the same issue with Darky's v9.4, when I flashed v9.5 it solved my problem. I hope it helped.

Have you tried flashing another modem? I had a similar problem, calls got cut after a short time, but another baseband solved it.

[Q][i9000] Rear Speaker Problem after Flash

Hi Everyone,
I've searched through the i9000 section and have not found a solution to my problem.
I have a problem with my rear speaker on my i9000 after flashing to the stock XXJVU 2.3.6 rom using Odin. I have sound through the headphones, and the front speaker but no sound through the rear speaker (i.e. I cannot hear the phone ring).
Prior to the flash I was running a cooked rom (from Rom Kitchen) JS8 (2.2.1) with the speedmod k13c kernel with the lagfix enabled. This was working fine and the speaker was working correctly prior to the flash.
Before I flashed I attempted to disable the lagfix through CWM, however, towards the end of the lagfix the phone got stuck during the testing proportion after converting everything back to RFS. When disabling the lagfix I had forgotten if the /system was converted to ext4, and I did not convert that back to RFS (to my mistake the /system was most likely still ext4), but converted the rest back to RFS.
After a long time I took out the battery and restarted the phone. The phone booted into the rom fine, however, all the settings had been reset (just like when you factory reset the phone). I assume the reason was that it did not restore the backup of my settings when it got stuck during the disabling of the lagfix. I do not remember if I had sound when I booted back into the rom.
I then turned off my phone and flashed the XXJVU stock rom via Odin (pda/modem/csc/pit with re-partition selected), and then cleared all the caches and factory reset before and after installing the Semaphore 2.5.0 kernel. Both of the flashing processes completed without any error. When I did boot into the new rom I realised that I no longer had any sound, however everything else seems to be operating fine.
List of things I have tried to fix this issue:
Factory reset (both through the menus and *2767*3855#)
Wiped and factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache many times
Tested the speaker through *#0673# (Audio Test Mode) and get no sound
Tested the speaker through *#0283# (Audio Loopback Control) and get no sound
Taking the back cover off the phone and pressing the speaker module whilst playing music to see if it was a loose connection
Flashed the firmware back to two stock roms from my carrier (2.2 and 2.3.3 version from Optus) still no sound (everything else worked fine)
Flashed the XWJW1 stock firmware and still no sound
Tried inserting and removing headphone plug into the jack multiple times. In case there was an issue with the phone thinking there were headphones still plugged in.
Turned on "logger" in Semaphore kernel and using alogcat to see if there were any errors related to the rear speaker (nothing I could see)
I am now thinking it could be a hardware issue, however, it just seems too coincidental that the rear speaker breaks whilst I am flashing a new rom on the phone. Might have to open it up and have a look at the speaker module more closely.
Any ideas anyone?
For those who find it tldr
Summary:
Disabled lagfix on 2.2 rom process got stuck and battery had to be removed
Flashed new rom as phone still booted to XXJVU and noticed there was no sound in rear speaker
Tried many things to try to get phone sound working again but have run out of ideas
Thanks everyone!
Outcome:
I have bought a new speaker module and installed it and it WORKS!
Buy a new phone, bro

Sounds very intresting.
I got the same problem after flashing Slim ICS 2.8 to 2.9.
Revert back with my Nandroid Backup to 2.8, that i done before flashing ,but still the same, Before everythings worked fine.
I also suspect Free Spirit Fm and the options in audio --> Method --> Galaxy S ALSA/ICS (DANGER) , but this option always wored fine since some month.

Yes it is a very odd problem.
I have yet to open up the phone and check the connection of the rear speaker module. Everything is working fine except the rear speaker.
At least I now know I'm not the only person with this issue. What else have you tried to fix your problem? Tried some of the fixes that I have tried?
this is actually what I've done
revert back to Nandroid backup
Delete cache of some apps like Dsp manager and Spirit FM as i suspect it to broke my Rear Speakers (but maybe nothings releated)
Factory Reset and Wipe Everythings
Change Kernel to Glich V14
Now i also open up the phone and check the connection, everythings seem to be good
I'm now going to buy a new Rear Speaker and try to change it, maybe it's just a coincidence , But very strange .....
Yes, I find it hard to believe that my rear speaker stops working at the exact time that I'm flashing a new rom. I was going to buy a new speaker, but decided that I'll wait until I open it up and have a proper look. Just trying to find some motivation to go and do this, it has been about two weeks of trying and I've almost given up.

Wow awesome!
How is the quality of the speaker compared to the original? I'm debating if I pay more to buy a genuine rear speaker or just get a generic one.
How difficult was it to open up the phone and replace the speaker?
same issue but slightly different
Hey guys, I have the same issue with my i9000 after a fresh wipe and flashing the latest CM9 nightly build as of april 2nd ( update-cm-9-20120402-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd-signed.zip ) and the rear speaker doesn't work for ringing or music playback, but I noticed it works for putting calls on speakerphone -- is this just me? Should I replace the speaker?

If the speaker is working in some cases then you won't be in the same situation as us. Ours didn't work at all, no matter what situation.
Have you tried flashing it back to a stock rom?
edit: stupid question but you have checked the "Sound" settings > "Volume" > "Media volume" and "Incoming call volume"?
Same problem I got today when woke up in the morning, I wonder why didn't alarm ring today. Then I tried flashing ROMs etc etc. watching videos on the youtube, did google and find this post.
I think I will have to buy new speaker.
Any idea?

G'day,
Have you tried the methods I tried in my first post?
Factory reset (both through the menus and *2767*3855#)
Wiped and factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache many times
Tested the speaker through *#0673# (Audio Test Mode) and get no sound

Flashed the stock firmware.
Tried inserting and removing headphone plug into the jack multiple times. In case there was an issue with the phone thinking there were headphones still plugged in.
I'm still waiting for my replacement speaker in the post. I will update if this fixes the issue.
Good luck!
Do you get ANY sound from the rear-speaker? I have a similar issue (loss of audio after flashing new ROM) but it is the handset speaker. After some troubleshooting, I found that there it was still working but was ULTRA low volume. With a number of tweaks, you can just hear calls if the other person is yelling. With headphones/rear-speaker, very thing is fine.
My next troubleshooting step is to find a way to repartition the phone and reflash a stock ROM. That's about all I have left as I have tried all other options.
Zimzum
Just an update people.
Just installed the replacement speaker module... and it..... WORKS!!
flash an official ROM using Odin
I need some help here. My i9000 seems to work through the rear speaker ONLY??? During hands free calls the thing is MUCH louder when turned around and listening from the rear. All ringing, alarms, etc. seem to emanate from the rear speaker. Is it difficult to replace the front speaker? I have cm9 Nightlies flashed (up to date). It's been like this for a few months already.
