ok so my goal is to be able to install third party apps on my us t moile hd7. i see that to be able to flash new roms i will have to downgrade but is that the case to dev unlock as well? right now i have 8107 os and my boot loader is 5.12 now if i have to downgrade i have seen the y cord and the gold card method but i dont have access to or money for a y cord or gender adapter. so would there be any other way to do it if downgrading is the action i must take? again i am only trying to do a normal dev unlock to get third party apps on my hd7. no interest in flashing roms. also when i traded for this phone i had to do a system update threw zune, so i was wondering if i did a hard reset wold that take away the update as well bypass downgrading steps.... (i miss my rooted g2. never should have traded for this hd7 :crying: )
thanks in advance for any help offered!

Hi Guys, After research I found conflicting answers, so created the thread.
My friend received a used Nexus1 with Froyo already installed. Can He unlock the bootloader and root the phone? When He turns on the phone, their is no ''unlock'' symbol at the bottom. Why Google has not patched the bootloader and rooting procedure in the Froyo firmware? like Apple, everytime their is new firmware update, the jailbreak is lost and the device becomes secure.
Can the stock apps like Amazon Mp3 store can be removed without rooting N1? Also, can N1 be Unrooted like HTC Desire for warranty purpose?
Thanks in advance.
Once the bootloader is unlocked, the phone remains unlocked unless it's sent to HTC service centre for repairs etc.
Thus, there's no need for you to unlock it again. Android is different from apple in the sense that, Google WANTS you to do whatever you want to your phone as long as you're aware of what you're doing.

im trying to figure out of to flash a new rom to my hd7. I see that ive got to downgrade my bootloader to 4 etc.. but i dont think ive got the backup of nodo. Also do i need a pin unlock or chevron unlock?
Downgrading spl to 4.x would be needed. Dangerous though. Follow directions on here to a "T" or else you could end up with an expensive paper weight.
After downgrading spl, Install HSPL, this puts a custom SPL allowing for custom roms. After HSPL is installed you could flash any rom you want. Pin or chevron unlock is not needed. All custom roms for hd7 come chevron and interop unlocked.

see the tutorial i wrote. link in my signature.
easiest and least complicated and least time consuming way is by flashing a Custom ROM.
i just bought my hd7 got it in the mail unlocked it is originally t-mobile but i am using it on att, all i want to do is update it to mango and it is currently on "OS version 7.0.7390.0"
my question is if i update it will i loose my unlock and have to figure out how to unlock it myself?
ii have searched the forums and have not found this question
ok
it looks like you are talking about unlock sim??
if you are then updating the rom wont lock sim again.
keep in mind that if you update rom , that will also update hspl and will be a little harder to install custom rom.
if you can you are better off installing custom hspl and then custom rom
cheers and have a gr8 day
thanks button is next to qoute button
so your saying if i update threw zune i can still use my phone and it wont lock again, im no concerned with flashing a rom i just want everything to be stock and run mango. i dont know if its unlock sim or anything all i know from my research is that its nodo.
wp7 flashing and stuff is so much harder than my android device sheesh
hi Tchem
yes you can update threw zune, and it will not lock your sim.

About a week ago I received notification to update to ICS. After downloading the file and the phone upgrading it get locked into a boot loop, then after about 14 hours it finally escapes form the loop and starts up only to have the SIM not get recognized, I tried restoring to factory default but it didn't work... I then sent the phone to Bell to get repaired but now they are asking for $200 to fix the phone as apparently the bootloader was unlocked and voided warranty.
As you can guess I'm saying "screw you" to that and trying to fix myself... I'm not experienced with android and when I originally upgraded I didn't back up my original software so i have nothing to restore... So basically right now I am wondering what I should do... the phone is being returned to me not repaired and I want to fix this but don't have the knowledge how to... I'm not dumb when it comes to unlocking phones as I used to unlock old Nokia's and jailbreak iPhones but I have no idea when it comes to Androids.
I'm guessing I will need to try and find an official ROM for this but Bell canada isn't the most open with their OEM software so I was wondering if anyone could help in this area by providing a ROM I could use... secondly I guess I will need to S-off my device in order to install the software?
I have searched the forum to find somethings that may be relevant to what I'm trying to do... but I'm getting confused as to what i should do (The curse of being a Noob)
Any info would be great... thanks

Quick summary: you have to be totally stock (relocked bootloader, unrooted, S-ON) to run the update to ICS via Bell.
Thanks... will give it a look through and see if I can recover this way.
Hi
I just got a XT1094, with the chilean carrier Movistar everything was great until I installed a leaked new version of google seach, the phone stop working and when I turn it of and turn it on again gets on a boot loop hole.
I can access the fastboot mode but when I use recovery appears the android robot wih the warning sign for a few second and then it goes to the boot loop again, factory reset dosn´t work neither.
The phone isn´t rooted or have the bootloader unlock.
Please I am starting to get kind of desesperate.
You have the XT1094 ? Odd, i bought it on release on same carrier and it is the XT1097
If its not rooted or unlocked, just go to Movistar and change it, ill do that since if you mess up something you might lose warranty.

Actually I assume that was that version but I cant confirm, I cant return it to movistar one of the first thing that I did was let it escape of my hands so it now have a few scratch that will avoid the warranty I am sure.
I dont think that a few scratches will void warranty, after all the problem is "software", just go and say that it doesnt turn on and it goes to bootloop
Especially when it is THIS new, and its not the hardware that it fails. I assume that since its unrelated it should not void it
I will try it, I don't know what else to do I will have to go tomorrow.
In the worst scenario if they tell me that my warranty is voided, What sould I do?
I think you could flash another stock rom trough ADB, look for a pure edition (Brazilian should be ok)... That should work.
By the way, in the base of the phone is the version of your phone (next to where you charge the phone)

Yeah I haven't noticed it until a few minutes and you were right is a XT1097.
I have downloaded a few stock roms called moto x pure KXE21.187-42 and a Moto x pure multi tool that in the post said that work with XT1097 also but I need to have the bootloader unlocked and I don't know if I can unlock the bootloader in this status.
You can access fastboot, so yes you should be able to unlock it (search the FAQ in this forum for more info on how to do it)
BUT go to movistar first, keep this as a backup plsn, if you mess something you may lose the phone.
