I connected the N7000 via USB to the PC and KIES informed me there was a firmware update PDA:LRK/PHONE:LRK/CSC:LP5(XEU).
When I click on the Update button in KIES the connection to the N7000 is lost, the firmware then downloads to the PC and gets to 100% and I get a confirmation dialog asking to continue. KIES then freezes and doesn't do anything. It has to be shutdown through Task Manager. An error message is then displayed stating "object is not referenced".
The Note is on OrangeUK and is currently running 4.0.3 Baseband version N7000XXLPT.
I've had no OTA update message but KIES is stating there is an update. If I select the Update option from the Settings on the phone, it reports there is no update.
Any ideas why KIES drops the connections while attempting to download the firmware. I presume this is why it's not updating.
I've tried re-installing KIES and performing the Connection Troubleshooting but the same problem occurs.
Thanks.
uninstall kies, reinstall kies, latest version, reboot pc
I that doesnt work perform within kies connection troubleshooting. That should reinstall drivers and try again. I know you did this, but did you do with reboot and newest version Kies?

I'm trying to upgrade from JPA to JPX with Kies with the reghack and the firmware is available in Kies, then it starts upgrading, Kies loses connection with the phone and 5 minutes later I get the message: "Failed to convert to upgrade mode. Try again later."
I've tried several times with both Windows 7 x86 and Windows 7 x64 and both have the same problem.
Any solution on this?
I had the same thing, unplugged the phone and decided to try again.
When I plugged it back it KIES told me there was firmware recovery available, so I did that and it put 2.2.1 on
I had something similar - I left the phone in and went to the failure notice within windows where it said drivers failed to install. I then selected search for drivers online (or something like that) and it installed the right//correct drivers and the firmware update continued.
THIS PROBLEM IS SOLVED!
Hi, I am using JPO version of Germany (DBT) for I9000 international. When I connect device to computer, update notification appears for 2.2.1. However, when I click on update after skipping or non-skipping backup, device disconnects and notification appears that device not connected. Then, clicking on OK update process ends but my galaxy s is connected to KIES. I tried numerous times and I am waiting for someone who overcame this problem.
full error message: Firmware update stopped because GT-I9000 has been disconnected. Please check the connection and try again.
I tried those:
Updating KIES
Hard reset device
Uninstall & reinstall KIES
Open KIES as admin
Open KIES in compatibility mode
Restart phone
I also tried Win7 32 bit,XP and XP virtual PC

have you tried it on another computer?
If that does not work you can always download the version you need and flash it yourself through odin. As long as it's a stock rom it shouldn't even compromise your warranty
EDIT:
But first try the other computer, if it does not work on any other machine you can also suspect faulty hardware and just send it to samsung / bring it to your carrier. I think they will investigate and update it for you.

I am afraid that I had a bad experince with Odin. My phone connected to Odin. When I clicked start, nothing happened. After half and hour I unplugged, I saw a phone, a cable and a computer on screen. After that, I updated to Froyo using KIES, that is why I am not a fan of ODIN

Hi,
I am having a strange problem while connecting my Galaxy S to kies. I've seen all related threads on this forum but none of them worked for me.
When I start kies and connect my phone to my PC. The kies just keeps on trying to connect to the phone but never connects.
That means the phone is detected by PC but Kies cannot make a connection to it. I tried reinstalling Kies Drivers but it didn't work either.
Here is the Kies and mobile Firmware version that I am using:
Kies: 2.0.0.11044_11
Firmware: I9000DDJG4

Have you tried completely uninstalling Kies, rebooting PC and then a fresh install of an older version of Kies?
I've latest KIES version, the tab is rooted and cwmodded but stock rom. When I try to connect it to kies I get a neverending "connecting", so basically it never establishes a connection. I tried reinstaling drivers and with and without debug usb, but no luck. Do you have any clue?
same as my tab,

Problem with KIES
My tablet is not rooted, it have stock rom, haven't changed anything. I have installed latest KIES on my laptop with Win 7 x64. When I try to connect my tablet to PC, I can access it's contains, but if I try to connect to KIES it say: Cannot start service on the device. Please disconnect and reconnect the device. I try that too, but every time it's the same. I have tried to re-install KIES couple of times, but it's always the same story... Anybody have some ideas?
I able to connect in the pass, that was how I get android 3.1 upgraded to 3.2

I had the same issue, then I reinstalled the drivers, REinstalled KIES and there even was some messing around in "services". for WIFI connection thou, but it fixed my connection issue via cable.
When I bought my "8.9 tab wifi only"and plugged it up for the first time i had no problems using kies. It updated to 3.2 the NEVER worked again.Once you install kies it installes your drivers. If you uninstall kies it will ask if you want to keep the drivers or uninstall them."KEEP THE DRIVERS" I don't use kies at all. I use drag-n-drop to transfer files. You may also notice at times when moving files"mostly video" that windows explorer will crash"may just be my p.c." but a way around that is to simply zip the file, move it to your device, unzip from device using a file manager,I use "file manager HD"
Galaxy Tab 8.9 not connecting to Kies
Same problem here, Connected first time to Kies but since updating Kies I have never been able to connect.
Uninstalled and Reinstalled various times, restarting computer but still inop.
kies has many problems in its own software... ur pc can see it very well... samsung released a "Piece of Cr*P" software to just show themselves... Kies isnt really useful for anything rather than updates and syncronizing...
I saw someone posted a quote from samsung about the kies problem, and the only answer was its kies thats messing, not the tablet
I had this problem and I fixed it by reinstalling kies and basically enabling WIFI synk from pc (Kies setup guide) and after that it works from the USB.
(sorry for typos)
I had a similar problem but I ended up downloading the latest version of keis first. I also checked to make sure my computer was up to date with the latest usb drivers. After an update the Samsung keis software recognized my tab and was up and running.

first you should have usb debugging off
second, I tried all sorts of solutions (like uninstall/ install back again for kies or drivers and so on). I think there is a problem with the drivers.
If you plug in your tab, go to device manager and look for unknown devices or so (entries with exclamation marks and so )
I got it installed as samsung composite usb but also got part of the drivers not being correctly installed ( PCI flash memory having exclamation mark)
the only solution I found was to factory reset the tab. I did this and the tab is now recognized by Kies via USB without doing any additional work to the drivers or kies installation
latest kies version as of the post date, Windows 7 professional x64.
I still don't know if it was some wrong setting for an app or the firmware itself had something messed.
by the way, the tab was only 2 weeks old and it didn't connect from the very first time although the tab was just out of the box with no root/CWM recovery. just everything stock with normal apps and it didn't connect.
it happen to my nexus, but when I change to other PC, it working fine.. my 8.93G connecting very good for this moment and hope it will till i sell it..
Hello.
I recently tried to root my phone with the S3 Mini Toolkit. I have the GT-I8190 international version.
It said that I needed to Install the device drivers first (which is the v1.5.18.0).
So I did it as instructed in the command prompt. When it finished installing the driver, and I plugged my device as instructed, suddenly came an error message "Samsung Hardware ID is missing error", and my Mini became unrecognized all of a sudden. I couldn't access my device storage.
There was an error message too popped up in my device saying that It cannot find a driver in my PC for my device.
I tried to install KIES afterward, hoping that it can solve the problem. Thing is, it didn't. My device was still not recognized, and KIES couldn't recognize it either (Connecting.....for, like forever).
I then tried to Google the problem, and came by a forum, saying that it was the 1.5 USB Drivers that caused the problem (but the case being talked in the forum is for Galaxy S3). Said that my PC need to uninstall the 1.5 drivers, uninstall KIES, deactivate the automatic device installation by Windows, and install the 1.4 version.
Well, what I can find in the internet is the 1.3 USB Drivers, so I tried the instructions, and installed the version 1.3 USB Drivers, and my PC recognized my device again, and able to access the storage.
(also, the 1.3 drivers made Odin unable to recognize my phone too in download mode).
Does anybody here have ever experienced the same problem as mine? Or did I do something wrong?
I managed to root my Mini, being not recognized by the PC (but registered at the toolkit) in the whole process, and then did the whole uninstalling and re-install the USB drivers so that I can access my storage again.
Because it's rather a painful process if in the future I want to use the toolkit again with the newest drivers.
Note:
- before rooting, I did the latest OTA update.
My current device info is
Android version 4.1.2
Baseband version I8190DXAMA2
Build vnumber JZO54K.I8190DXAMA2
Region Indonesia
Thank you very much
Bumped. Can anybody gives me some enlightenment about this issue? Thanks
