Which ROM to use?

Hi all,
I've just purchased a Rhodium that is a Vodafone UK unlocked device. On booting it is still Vodafone branded however it was simlocked thus I can use it with other carriers.
Given the above, which stock 6.5 ROM shall I use, the Vodafone UK one (which I can download if I provide my serial number) or the standard Touch Pro 2 ROM (for which I'll need a good serial number to input)?

why limit yourself to stock ROMs?
there are some great cooked ROMs here - and the wiki will tell you what steps to follow to flash one onto your TP2.

This thread will be closed without a doubt. Just start reading the Rhodium section. Check out ROM releases and user experiences. There simply isn't a best ROM out there!

I just always use the one at the top of the forums. A flash a day keeps the doctor away!

rom upgrade

i am a new user and i want to upgrade my rom to wm6.5. can someone please help me with the process....i dont know anything about SPL or other terms. please try to guide me through the process, what to do first etc etc

Very simple as we speak M8....
Charge ur mobile battery fully.
Sync it with Active sync with your PC and update ur Dotnet till up to date.
Run Opal HArd SPL and a set of files will come inside the folder u have hard spl, a dialogue box will appear, dont click next and now paste the Rom u have downloaded into the folder and overwrite it..
Now Read the following steps in tat dialogue box and its done....

can u suggest a good rom for my phone? id like one with lots of features and no bugs......i searched for a few but it seems all of them have a few bugs. a wm 6.5 would be great. thanks again

If you don't already have this, than you know how good this is, And well it's a WM6.5 ROM that's completely "NAKED" try it out, and it's fast. (The Link is in my Signature.)

Installing this rom i can use my viva with another operator? sim unlock? thanks in advance...

You could try calling your service Provider to give you the Sim Unlock Code or you could pay someone to get you the code.

Can someone make a video on how to Hard SPL it??Please..I cant understand anything ...Sorry I still new in HTC Touch Viva...

I posted this response to this same question over in the ROM development forum.
I too am a relatively new user to this board and a complete newbie to flashing the ROM of my Touch Viva. I wanted a newer more finger friendly ROM for my touchscreen Viva and getting the exact answer to how to flash the phone wasn't easy.
I read through different posts and basically pieced together the information that I use from many different posts. I too was concerned about "bricking" my phone and wanted to get it right.
I've flashed my phone with roughly a dozen different ROMs and have finally settled on one that I like and have also flashed a second Viva with an upgraded ROM also. So if you take your time and have a little patience you can do it.

By the way, he is also the chef of a very good custom ROM called Evolution 2 which is what I'm currently using. I'm patiently waiting for his upcoming 2.5 version.

yea man im using evolution too its amazing rom for WM 6.5 ... give it a try and everything and all the steps u will find the in the fourm about hard spl and installing the rom too lemme know if u need help

Lumia 521 WP internals

Hello
2 months ago i bought a Lumia 521 for just 24$ in eBay it is great but the last week i got kinda boring and i want to change the device , play with it !! (like get root access , install costum rom etc.)
I started googling for development and installing custom roms in it and every search result shows me WP Internals
-So i installed in my laptop and i want to try now getting root access and installing custom roms and other stuff!
But before i get into the game i want to ask some questions:?:
Q1. I enable root access what after that , how can i get the tweaks that Heathcliff74 is saying in his website!
Q2. Where can i find custom roms for my device! And step by step how to basiclly install them!

Unlocking Bootloader on MIUI 8.1.2.0 Global | Stable.

Hi everyone,
A week ago I purchased a MI5. I'm on MIUI 8.1.2.0 global stable ROM.
Actually it feels like a prisoner without having root access on my device. So I need to root it ASAP.
The problem begins here. I need to unlock the boot loader first. I just heard that after MIUI 7.5 Xiaomi refuses all the unlocking request from stable ROM. Then how can I unlock my bootloader ?
Can anyone give me a tutorial of unlocking bootloader of MI5 running MIUI 8.1.2.0 Global | Stable ?
Please let me know how to get an unlocked bootloader and get me out of this prison. ??

I can't post links yet, but do a search on google for "mi devices bootloader unlocking faq". Click on the first link from the search result. There should be enough info on that page to get you started.

What? I bought mine a month ago and just used the english version of the xiaomi site for the unlocking request

for the unlock procedure start from here: http://en.miui.com/unlock/
...with a working MIUI account (on your phone) you make the request, and the waiting time will be from 1 day to xyz days.
Two advices: 1) in the "why you want to unlock" put the real reason and do not do a copy&paste because refusal from xiaomi is -in such cases- possible; 2) set up your 64bit computer with the proper drivers (windoze is a b####).
Note: Sometimes the sms will not arrive (carrier problems), so check the unlock software to see if you are good to go.
For the flashing guides and roms here: http://en.miui.com/download-299.html
And here is the english forum of the miui: http://en.miui.com/forum-92-1.html
So, while you are waiting for the approval, do a search here on xda and there on miui for the best practice to do what you need.

i have the same problem, i want install xiaomi.eu rom and waiting for approved unlock bootloader.
Please write when you get approved to unlock.

It took 4 days for me.
Now I'm unlocked.

Can't root my Mi5
Did you manage to root your phone?
I have the exact same situation, where I managed to unlock my phone by I still don't have root. There is security app does not have the "root access" option in the "permissions" menu
I tried flashing the the latest miui global dev rom as explained here en.miui.com/thread-267361-1-1.html, but I get a "Can't verify update! You're allowed to flash the newest develop version published by miui from stable version only" message.

I want to be a super user

I'm a normal user of Xiaomi phone, I want to install custom rom like Xiaomi.Eu rom, this is why I'm trying learning about these process, I believe this site would be helpful.

Custom ROMs are great for all kinds of reasons. But to proceed you will need to be more specific. Google search custom ROM for you specific device. I like to type in my device, what I am looking for and then for master stroke, I type XDA on the end. Best of luck, You got this brother.
