No direct call button? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I have an issue after updating to the last LRK ROM. There are no green phone icon within call log and favorites. It was very suitable for our big phone to make calls directly from call log. How I can get it back?

Thanks that somebody else has the same issue with the latest greatest LRK update, I thought I did something wrong when it dissapeared from Call/ Log menu. Which country are you updating? I have official DBT (open Germany) update and it's not there. I also miss this feature, I know I can swype the fingers left and right, but not always possible or that easy with Note and one handed operation.

I think they removed it because you can just swipe right to call and swipe left to message from those screens.

In LRI ROM there is a green call button in the log but not in favorites.

Green phone icon is more convenient if you use your NOTE by one hand. Swipes left and right are good for little displays . I think we need a corresponding filename for editing. Who knows, what files are responsible for this function? May be we can find it in LRG ROM and paste to new LRK and others?...

So strange. Very interesting function and and get no interest in community. I'm frustrated

[Update] Camera Firmware Update for Samsung Vibrant

i found something that i think that is important and wanted to share it with all....
Background Story:
yesterday (11/08/2010) i ODIN my vibrant to the "unofficial T mobile stoke 2.2" and used it with no problems...
Today i started to play with the camera set up and i found something interesting....
when i went to the camera setting and enter to the left tab menu i saw under the "reset" a " Firmware Update", when i
pressed the "update" i got a menu the showing:
"check version by network"
and
"Firmware Update"
i started to play with it by pressing the 2 options.... and i got a messeg "Warning, it will occur additional fee" i press the "ok" and .....and at that point i dont remenber what was next but it got me to the "Samsung App" and show me information about the Camera Firmware update and alow me to install....
i did it and it starting to download and update the Firmware...after a 2 min of prosses it said that i need to do reset... i did...
now after the Firmware Update i dont know what is the difrent but i can tell you that there is a new App whan you view all under the camera and showing " Camera Firmware " Version 1.
what does it do?
I figured this out long ago when we first discovered the secret codes. I updated my camera firmware too, but didn't notice any changes so I never posted it.
this menu is accessible via secret codes in 2.1 like the previous poster said. it is in the FFC thread somewhere and we tried to see if camera firmware from different cameras made a difference.
So i also saw this and incurred the so called charges. Only thing that i noticed was that the Camera icon changed to the darker one. Im sure the firmware itself chsnged in some way for the better. I did notice my first MMs was blurry. I immediately updated cam firmware since i knew to check and no more blurry MMs. I honestly think its not related and random that it worked but...i really didnt change anything else.
I also typed in the code and after typing in the codes, my camera setting has changed. previously when u click on the camera, in the right hand side there would be a slider that you changed from camera mode to video mode. that has now changed to a zoom +- sign. its not nearly as nice as having the slider. my firmware is reading firmware 1. anyone know how i can get the original firmware back. also the other code was to use your power button to hang up phone calls, well all that it did to mine, was stop the button working where it makes the screen go blank when u press it once. it only works if you long press it and you get the three options, shut down, silent, etc.
help, anyway i can reverse those two things.
thanks

[Q] DTMF tone length

I apologize if this has been discussed/answered elsewhere. A search didn't bring up anything. If it has, please link me to the appropriate thread. Thanks!
I'm currently using Simply Stunning 5.4, which is Android 2.3.4 and based on CM7. For some reason, the custom phone settings menu has removed the option to adjust the DTMF tone length between Normal and Long. CM (and possibly Gingerbread in general--not sure) defaults to short tone length, which my Verizon voicemail inbox refuses to recognize for my password. It acts as though I haven't pushed any buttons, even though I can hear the quick tones. When I back up and flash a stock 2.2.2 ROM, which has the option in there, and I change it to Long tones, I can access my voicemail no problem. But that's a hassle just to check voicemail. I love Simply Stunning and Gingerbread! There HAS to be another way to access this setting...right?
It seems like it should be as simple as a line of code somewhere with =1, 2 or 3, and if I could just change that number to 3 for Long or whatever, things would be great.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
After a bit of research it looks like a little over a month ago, in CM nightly 15, an edit was made to android_frameworks_base to force phones to always use short DTMF tones. My question is, is there a way I can edit android_frameworks_base (if that's even a file somewhere or section in a file) to undo this and use long tones? Or, can I install a different version of android_frameworks_base and keep the rest of the ROM? That seems like a big ol' conflict that wouldn't work, but what do I know?
The workaround I'm using now is nandroid backup, load a stock FRG83G ROM, change the tones to long, check my messages, reboot into recovery, restore the nandroid backup. What a hassle to do this every day though! There HAS to be an easier way, aside from the obvious "Find a ROM that's not built on CM." I'm definitely getting closer to doing that, but it's also fun to solve things like this. Anyone?

Yes you will lose root if you take the OTA. The biggest change that was made between 2.12.405.7 and 2.30.405.1 is that they have fixed all of the temp root exploits. So not only will you lose root, but you will not be able to re-root until a new root exploit is found.
Thank you for quick response.
OMG! It is good I haven't updated!
Looks good to me. Picasa albums add in working. Screen text a better size. Don't know what full list of changes is?

It's already been done. If you're looking for a ROM in future, the Android Development section of the forum is your friend.

Scrub that, Picasa add in stops working. As useless as it ever was.
Pretty fed up with HTC, they are nowhere near the Company they used to be. Flaky software, useless support, the farce of HTCSENSE.
Horrible.
After reading a few threads about this update, all I ever see is people querying and *****ing about losing their S-OFF. Is there an actual change list available so I see what exactly has been done?

I haven't seen anything. Have you checked the HTC Support site? That is where such information would originate from if it is available.
Surely you cant update if your S-OFF anyway...atleast I cant!
text prediction(suggestion) in portrait mode not working
Hi guys, I have successfully updated to this version.
However the most frustrated thing is when I am typing text in portrait mode, no matter what app (web browser, calendar, message, map, or 3rd party app, etc) I am typing in, the word prediction (suggestion) does not work anymore (or it does, but I could not see all the possible suggestions as I used to if I misspell something, then it just automatically picked one suggestion to replace my word)!! Only when I change to landscape mode they start to appear.
This never happened before this update, and also, before, when I typed on the text box, the keyboard would appear as well as the cursor positioning where my text will display. So I could still see part of the original screen of the app. But now, the text box basically expands a lot so I could not see anything else on my screen apart from the white, ugly, big text box which takes more than half of my screen and the keyboard, nothing else!!
I am wondering if anyone else who updated to this version has the same issue. This is bad, bad, and bad!!
Cheers!!

Ok, I just rebooted the phone twice and everything goes back to normal. I am sure I had rebooted the phone more than once before, but they did not work until just 5 mins ago...
Pls ignore my previous post then.

did you try posting your query in the rom thread ? maybe others using the rom facing same problem ?
Hi, thanks for your reply.
Well to be honest i dont have enough permission to post there.. I dont want to spam for posts, so i havent reached 10 posts yet. I think many guys are facing this issue but just ecause i use this function like everyday so its a little irritating...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Just returned to PA 2.57.4 Utacka's ROM after going back to stock to await upgrade. Not sure I understand the problem ? If I want to send a message I choose the message icon from the dock. On the page that opens I choose the message with a + in the lower left corner, which opens a keypad, any letter I type brings up a list with that letter from my contacts list. Choosing from that list starts a message to be sent. I can also get to the type a message screen straight from my contacts list by selecting the message + icon next to the contact name. Is this what is missing for you?

[Q] S-Voice not working with GT-N7000_SweetROM_V6.0_LSF (1)

Hi Guys,
Having installed the "GT-N7000_SweetROM_V6.0_LSF (1)" on my GT-N7000 Note, made it happen that "S-voice", if I want to work with it, is always giving the message: "No network connection, connect to networks and try again".
Trying to make sure that it was not my phone itself that caused this problem, I unrooted my phone and reinstalled its Stock ROM (N7000XXLSZ_N7000XENLS4_XEN.zip) again. Then, everything worked like clockwork again - so the ROM probably must have caused the problem...
My question, probably to the developers of this ROM (although the Note users themselves are also invited for suggestions), is if they are familiar with this "S Voice" issue on the GT-N7000 where "GT-N7000_SweetROM_V6.0_LSF " was installed? If so, could you please tell me what to do to have "S Voice" also work with this ROM? Does it have to do with my settings or should there be an update needed to have this problem solved? I really would love to have this ROM reinstalled again and hope you can hand me a solution. :fingers-crossed:
I hope to hear from you soon.

Robert,

Thank you for your reply. I have been searching the internet but all I found was that this issue was regarded to other smartphones, like the Samsung S3.
If there is a GT-N7000 user, familiar with this problem (having installed the SweetROM V6 and facing problems with S Voice afterwards) and knowing how to fix this, I really would like to hear from him with the solution he found.
Thanks again.
Robert,

All I can say is you need to read all the notes etc on the page you got the ROM from. If you had you will find this;
MORE THEMES & FIXES
3 Great themes for Sweet ROM V6 from kmokhtar79 (Arman, Parsa & Kamran Theme's) - HERE
Multi Window NON TRANSPARENT - HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
Sweet ROM colorful icons on status bar - HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
Stock Battery (no percentage) & Transparent status bar with grey icons - HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
Total Stock Icons and battery with BLACK status bar - HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
SVoice fix. This will remove S4 SVoice and replace with working one from S3- HERE (flash in cwm recovery)
and this;
NOTES
SNote widgets are already set on home screens on TW launcher. They can be moved around the home screens by long press then move to screen of choice. If you delete them and then try put them up again from widget drawer they will now be wrong size. Sorry this is the best work around I have at the moment.
If you use the installed Xperia Launcher the widgets will be the right size.
Please note Snote may stay open in task manager/ active applications until you reboot. This is a known bug. FIXED BY THIS METHOD HERE
If you get SVoice "Can't get to network" error then flash fix above. This will remove S4 Svoice and replace with working one from S3.
Hope this helps you. If you still need help you can find the page HERE
Thank you for your reply.
I think you're doing me a great favor again with this fix. I'll let you kow if it all worked out.
For what it's worth: I DID read this page before, but I (mis)understood that the S Voice-fix, like I said earlier in my above message, was purely ment for the Samsung S3. So that is why I asked for your help. Since I am also very new on the job (flashing my phone that is), I do not hesitate to ask for help at the source. I hope you weren't annoyed...
Regards,
Robert,
Netherlands.
As I promised, I would inform you if the "S Voice" fix dit its job. Well, naturally, it worked as you stated, however I now see that "S Voice" does not show a choice menu anymore. Is this the way this fix works, is this the same way that the "S Voice" is working on the S3 as well, or am I stupidly missing a setting option to have the S Voice choice menu appear again?
Also I noticed, when having the "Sweet ROM V6" fixed, inside "S Note" the virtual red recording button on the top task bar, does not activate. I was hoping this fix would deal with it as well, but it did not. Are you familiar with this problem as well and the way to fix this?
To be clear, I am not critizising at all. I just bump into small issues I would like to know if they can be solved...
I hope to hear from you again.
Regards,
Robert,
Netherlands.
