Help: CM10 stuck on boot screen since I flashed it. - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before I used CM10 i just used the stock (flashed latest GB) that came with my phone. So I flashed CWM5 and cleared all the three stuff I was supposed to. I installed the CM10 zip and since then its been stuck on the boot animation, not even a loop. Just the animation.
Any ideas whats wrong?
Thanks in advance

Well happened with me once when I had put AOKP ROM in my Galaxy Note.
Here is what I did:
Go to Recovery.
Wipe Cache.
Try reboot
No results?
Recovery again.
WIpe Dalvik Cache Also
Try reboot.
Still no results?
Try to wipe data/fac reset and re flash some other ROM as of now (which you are confident about that it will work)
Now go ahead and let the old ROM boot. (Surely it will, as you would have used prior)
Now, go connect USB and check MD5 of the file you had kept on SD Card (I mean the CM10 file)
I found that my MD5 didnt match.
If you think it didnt match download again.
If you know it matches then go for reflash.
But this time before flashing the new ROM just use some cleaning script such as Ultimate KErnel Cleaning Script. In Galaxy Note I used Jbroid Kernel Script. I aint sure now if you can use Jbroid in Ace.
Goof luck!
Press Thanks

I got it working, what I had to do was flash CM7, then CM9 then CM10 :/ after that it was fine Thanks for the help

Welcome

The problem was with the kernel being different in CM10 and official version.

Problem to install ICSSGS RC 4.1

I try to install but don't work... after that i flash it, the phone lock to logo screen "google" and i can't go to CWM i must use odin to reflash. If install rc3.1 it's all ok.
Where is the problem?
Thanks.
Did you try looking at the help page on the thread in the development section? It's right before the post is finished, there will be a link that will lead you there.
Hope that helps, if not I can try to just copy and paste the instructions hahaha

yes... i try to flash a miui rom first also.
I try to do a full wipe... i try to install a original rom... but when i flash rc4.1 the phone stuck to logo.
Ensure you have backed up your EFS directory; if you don't know how ask.
To be honest, there appears to be some inconsistency in the reliability of the 4.1 RC release (across handsets); I have had persistent WIFI issues and then when the wifi fix was released I found the phone to just be a little laggy.
My advice if RC 3.1 works well for you is to keep it on there for now and wait for the next release they make.
However, if you still wish to flash it, there is no 100% working way - just keep factory reset, dalvik wipe, cache wipe, reset until it starts working! That's what I did as the original instructions did not work for me.

If i flash 2 time the rom the phone stuck it and i can't enter in cmw
.. is the only rom that give me this problem... bha...
Hello, have you tried to download the rom again? Maybe it's a bad download..
That's odd, for me i got stats 7 but was because i was flashing the I9000B version and my phone was with the CWM for I9000. Try using odin and flash a sotck rom, after that install the CWM and then the RC4.1.
If anyone want to know the procedure that i do to install the RC4.1 is this:
Starting for CM7 --> flash the ARO 2.3.3 rom to re-write the bootloader (check this option in odin) --> flash the ZTO 2.2 rom to re-partition in original size partitions --> flash the 2.2.1 ARO because it's a nice rom and don't have all the trash that is present in ZTO version --> through kies flahs the ARO 2.3.3 original.
After that the procedure to install the RC4.1 is the standard: flash CWM then install the ROM.
I had problems going from 3.1 to 4.1. Same issue as OP.
Process I followed:
-Flashed CWM through heimdall
-Flashed devil kernel
-Flashed CM7 (had to do this twice in a row)
-Flashed ICSSGS 3.1
-Flashed 4.1 but before I rebooted my phone, I flashed Devil one last time.
Since then, phone has been rocking along just fine!

Yes... three times.
I'm having the same problem here.
I tried the first point on the Common Issues page but I'm still not able to go into CWM!
I flashed the Speemod Kernel using heimdll but I can't go back to CM7. I'm getting a Stat 7 error.
Also tried the Devils kernel (Devil_1.0_CFS) with no help ....
Any ideas?
Just wondering...

why on earth did you flash the CM7 as a part of the process? I always have just downloaded an appropriate kernel (devil, stockplus etc..) + ICS ROM (latest was RC4.1), once I'd rooted my stock 2.3.6 ROM with CF-Root (takes only 5 minutes). ICSSGS' ROMs can be applied straight on top of any previous ROM, the only requirement is that you have root privileges + CWM installed. Flashing CM7 is often frustrating, at least for me. I personally see no point in flashing it before the ICS ROM. If you know better, pleasy enlighten me

Problem installing Devil Kernel 1.1.3

Hi, I'm wondering if I'm doinbg something wrong but I can't install the new Devil kernel version on latest Helly Bean nightly with 1.1.2 Devil Kernel Installed. I downloaded the file 3 times so it's most probably not a corrupted file problem. And the first time I installed it gave me major problems and had to revert back to gb, couldn't install HB from there because of status 7 errors wich only stopped when i did a GB-ICS-HB install. I tried to revert to 1.1.2 now but phone is stuck on HB bootscreen so I think I'll have to Odin GB again and then ICS and HB+1.1.2 but I like to have latest rom versions and kernel. Does anyone see where I fail in my installation? BTW I always wipe cache and Dalvik cache between any new zip installation, just in case....
Thanks in advance for any help and I have to say alot of thanks already for all infos on this forum because I went from noob to not so noob in a matter of days by reading all your usefull threads! :good:

Changing from one to another can be tricky, sometimes you need to flash TWICE
But First Backup your EFS folder from GB stock to SD card, do the complete wipes than flash, If it loops, flash again

Kingdroid stuck on startup

So I installed Rocket rom, shortly after that I wanted to flash kingdroid rom and it's always stuck on startup. No matter what kernel I take or if I do a full wipe etc... It's always the same problem stuck on that startup screen. The lights of the button won't light up which normaly indicates that it won't boot if I'm correct?
Thanks in advance

Pls. give details. What steps you follow & which version of KD are you falshing
By the way it takes more time than normal, immediately after flashing, to boot for the first time

Well I flashed cmw recovery, after that I flashed abyss kernel and then I tried to instal kingdroid rom.
At first it was always stuck on the samsung logo but this morning when I tried it, it wen't to the kingdroid boot animation but it stays there for a very long time and there isn't even an indication from the buttons that normaly would light up.
And when I flash back to rocketrom it works from the 1st time
Does anyone have an idea?
First of all, I would assume your on a safe kernel already right?
If your in one, just do a nandroid and/or titanium backup and wipe data/cache partition/dalvik cache and reboot recovery and install from SDcard and flash the Kingdroid Rom again. (make sure also you check the KD ROM as on the correct filesize,as perhaps you might have a bad downloaded file)

I'm pretty sure im on a safe kernel. I did as you said but then it keeps getting stuck on the kingdroid bootup animation
try redownloading the KD Rom file (delete the one you have now) and redo the steps (3 wipes) then flash the redownloaded ROM again.
Ok I completly redownloaded KD, did a full wipe, wiped cache and davik and then flashed the rom.
Still stuck on the boot animition.
I found out that if I take cf kernel or notecore kernel it would show the KD animation and if I take speedmod kernel it would just show the samsung logo.
I don't know why it won't boot up properly, I did it before and everything wen't very smooth.
Maybe something with the modem selection? Would be strange because I took the exact same one as last time when it did succeed
Anyone have a clue? I tried the KD by dr tailly v8.0 and this one works but I like the 7.4 that was made by that other guy more.

I assume you downloaded the zip file straight on the phone...Maybe you should download on pc and transfer it to the phone after...Doesn't do any harm trying it.

I've downloaded the zip file on my desktop and then put it on my sd card. I really don't understand why it won't boot properly
best advice I can give to you bud would be to downgrade to GB first and flash abysskernel, do the 3 wipes then flash KD again. (from your SD card)

yes, just put it on your external sd card...
P.S. reason why I suggested you to downgrade all the way back to GB is the fact that you've been tryin desperately to flash KDv8 on ICS with safe kernels and it's still not booting pass the KD logo right?
so if given that scenario, the only way I can think of that you haven't tried still doing, is flashing KD in stock GB and see if this method finally works....

[Q] CM10 to CM10.1, wiping needed?

I have a Galaxy S (I9000B) and a Tab (P1000L), S has CM10 and Tab CM10.1. When I was upgrading my Tab from CM10 to CM10.1, I've forgot to wipe data/factory reset, and when it was done, I've noticed that my background was the same, and all the apps where there. Everything is working fine.
And now the question, upgrading my phone from CM10 to CM10.1 (the most recent version available) do I really need to wipe anything?
It is recommended to do all 3 wipes and to be sure to get a clean and propper ROM, format system too. But you can try it without, if something is not running propperly, the worst case will be that you have to flash it again and then with all wipes. Or if you stuck on bootloop with lost recovery, then you have to fireup odin...
BTW gapps were also changed, so for CM10.1 its also recommended to flash the latest gapps.

Well, I tried to flash CM10.1, but showed up a error, don't know why. I figured it out that it was my kernel, it was made for 4.1 and not 4.2. So I just downloaded a 4.2 kernel, flashed and right next I've flashed the CM10.1. I can't tell that it is working, I'm locked in the lockscreen (on CM10 it was a 5x5 pattern and now is a 3x3). But I can see my wallpaper is the same
Did you made a nandroid backup before flashing the new JB?
Then i would suggest to restore to latest backuped ICS version and disable your lockscreen pattern. Then reflash the new rom again.
Hope that this will work for you.

As far as I can tell it was, on CM10. Maybe CM10.1 disabled it.
I've tried to rollback to CM10, but I got stuck on the bootanimation. I think I'll have to wipe everything...
perhaps you can try it with flashing an ics kernel via odin in advance.
Semaphore has some tar versions for odin...but i dont have the link for the moment...if you want i can search

[SOLVED] Rooted Exhibit Stuck in Bootloop!

Hi,
I tried installing the Chimera kernel on my sister's Exhibit and after it installed and rebooted, the phone was stuck in the CM10 boot animation. The phone has CM10 installed and it does get past the Samsung logo.
The thread for Chimera tells us to make a Nandroid but I didn't bother as when I installed Chimera on my Exhibit, all was well. So, there is no Nandroid to restore to on this phone.
Is flashing a new ROM the only option?
I'm having this same problem after I flashed everything. my rom, cache, data, delvik+cache, etc...

You need to press volume up and power to get in to recovery. Volume down and power is download(Odin) mode.
Dirty flashing is flashing without wiping, right?
And if I do this, I'm guessing she will lose all her files etc.?

Wipe dalvik cache, cache and then flash CM10 and gapps. Hopefully, everything will still be there.
Ok, I'll try that. I just have one more question, does the CM10 have to be the same as the one currently installed? It's an older version and I don't have the same ZIP, so I'll have to download a newer version.

A newer version should be okay. As long as it is CM10.
It works! I just thanked all your posts in here.
