Hey,
I had gotten to sample the HTC Touch Diamond...and thats all. I got it as a gift from overseas (so its a GSM -simcard- phone). Long story short, I didn't want to buy the phone from the local wireless provider because I'd be stuck with them. I open up the HTC box, turn on the phone, calibrate, take a few pics, and then I decided to put in a simcard. The phone was on at the time and I wanted to make a few phone calls to test out the new phone. I have no idea what happend, but the phone just turned off. I turn it on, and there is no lights, no screen, however the phone did turn on (i felt the vibration, and heard the startup sound). I took out the battery, and put it back in a couple of times and I finally got to turn on the screen and lights, however i recieved a werid message, and it didnt seem that my buttons at the front were working right (they worked fine before when i took pics and listend to the demo music), so I unplugged the battery and put it back in..Since then I have not been able to turn on my screen.
Here is how I know the phone is on, but there are no lights and no screen:
1. the boot up vibration
2. the bootup music
3. the volume up and down
4. I am able to touch the screen to turn up and down the volume.
5. When I put in a simcard, the phone does a ring every min or so (I have no idea as to the cause as i cant see error messages)
Now this is what I did to try to fix it:
1. I tried soft reset , however pressing the reset button does not seem to make the phone restart as i can turn up and turn down the volume no matter how long i press the reset button
2. I tried a hard reset, that doesnt seem to work either. (btw im guessing the confirmation message screen and pressing the volume up key) I think that the reason why steps 1 and 2 are not working, is because the phone does not seem to want to restart!
3. I tried taking out the battery and putting it back in..but i never did it for longer than a minute
4. I tried to update the rom, however the rom update application gives me a "Connection error" even though i have my phone plugged in. If i am supposed to set the connnection up from the inside then nm i cant do it cuz i cant see a thing.
5. I tried charging the phone (through USB and the power outlet)
Does anyone have any idea what happend? how can HTC Touch Diamond go from new to blank screen in about 5 minutes of usage?
plz give me all suggestions u can come up with...plz try to help me. Ive been waitign 2 years for a good phone, and now that I have one, I cant use it. Help me!
remove the sim card and see if it acts normal.
is it already unlocked?
the sim card has been removed, reinserted , and removed again.. yes the phone is already unlocked as the simcard apparently worked ( i made a phone call and the phone rang)
has no one ever come across my problem?
bumping...

I don't know if you GSM guys have had this problem, but my CDMA Diamond seems to.
Whenever I receive a call and I press the "Answer" button or hard key, it doesn't seem to connect instantly and allow me to talk. It would stay at the menu and I could continue to press "Answer" with nothing happening. Then after a minute it would finally connect and I can talk, provided the other person hasn't hung up yet.
Anyone know any solutions?
when i pres answer button it takes some seconds to connect
Hi, also me here when i press answer button i takes some seconds until somebody hers me, after i pres answer buton i shuld repet helo hello 3-4 untill the line gets conected

What rom are you using right now? I had this problem on Juicy2.1(Sprint), but it went away when I flashed to 2.2
Same here with all tested ROMS and same with all previous HTC devices ... seems to be standard "windows mobile behavior"
Edit: but I am on GSM
yeah, i also get this problem when hanging up as well, it takes ages to hang up, long after i've pressed the button or ended the call on the touchscreen
there is a string for "out call", is referred to idlecall...
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\CallProgressIdleTimeout
normally is setted at 3 (seconds) but you can change at 0
also for incoming calls:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Phone\PhoneExtendSetting\EndCallTime
change always to 0
try those changes it should answer & hangup faster
bye,
davide

Just tried this, had a friend phone me, looks like it connected instantly this time. Of course, it's just 1 call, I'll have to see what happens with more incoming calls. Thanks for the suggestion!
Cannot find this entry in my registry - 1.93:
also for incoming calls:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Phone\PhoneExtendSetting\EndCall Time
change always to 0
Any idea?
Thanks

Brendo, I LOVE YOU!
I can actually get calls from a locked state now!
You have no idea how much time, work, and frustration you have saved me.
What a concept.. A phone that answers calls!
Such oversight on the part of Sprint.
Dammit I cant find the registry!
I avoid .cabs.
hey guys sometime when i get and incoming call my phone start acting up and i cant slide up to take the call, my screen wont respond and no hard keys to press if some one know how to fix this please let me know if not im giving this wp7 a 2nd software update a chace to get this right. ms should be a genieus when it comes to software not apple or google. you never know when a emergency call comes in and you could not get it, im so concern about this. i had enough with 6.5 now this. but the problem is that i love ms i keep coming back. ****tttt
if a soft reset doesn't fix it you could hard reset. Just make sure you make a list of installed apps to make sure you get them all back on there.
I hadn't heard of this happening before.
I had the same problem once. I just switched the display off and on again (while the phone was still ringing) and then I could take the call.

+1 this happens from time to time.
hit the POWER button to shut of screen, this just powers of the sound and display and does not efect the incoming call.
Press the POWER button to turn the screen back on where you still see the incoming call and the screen will now respond correctly allowing you to answer.
no need to rest or anything.

+1 Me too.
Is there any remedy to this issue???, i'm having the same thing
Dear PDA experts, please help me!!
since a couple of days I am having a VERY annoying problem with my HTC Diamond. This occurs when I am using the original hands-free. It looks like the cable is losing contact or making an incorrect contact...
So, when using the hands-free, the phone starts dialing the last dialed number by itself. When I am listening to music, the music stops and I am hearing how the phone is dialing. This usually happens, when I make the move to put my phone in my pocket. Also, when I speak with someone, the phone automatically puts him on hold, which is even more annoying for the other party! The problem persists even when I switch off the phone module, it still tries dialing!
I had tried many times to get rid of the voice dialer (sddialer.exe), but I cannot delete or rename the file even when I connect the Diamond to a PC. Finally I have disabled it from the registry and it still starts dialing when I make the move to stick it into my pocket!
And I dont have the impression, that the cable is somehow defective, as when I am listening to music, it does not break up. And it always does, when there is a problem with the cable, unfortunately I have a lot of experience with defective hand-frees. Please please help me!! It is not worthy to buy a new handsfree for such an old phone... Is there a way to disable all the buttons of the hands-free, it is the last possible solution I can think of...?
Use the lock screens
My Diamond did that too.
There are several lock screen capabilities that you can enable under settings. More important if you added a custom Rom they usually have a few different options.
With the custom Rom I was running, I could make a call and after pushing the power button, it would lock the phone when on the line with someone. This would happen if you hit any button after the power button was pressed (which usually turns off the screen).
Hope that helps.
Hi,
Could someone tell me the colour of the square button in the simcard tray, thanks. The one that has off and a tiny arrow pointing at it.
It is a shut off button, in case the phone freezes.
After pressing it for around 5 seconds, the phone will vibrate 3 times and shut off.
I had to use it few time since having the phone for a week.
I need to pay more attention. I didn't even notice that was there!
Good to know.
