Is anyone actually using Google+ on a daily basis? - Off-topic

Is anyone using Google plus as a daily driver? I still find myself using facebook more than g+. I can do without the lack of users but I'm noticing that its not very user friendly. Just trying to manage albums seem to be a pain in the ass. Just wondering if anyone is using g+ over facebook, maybe theres some pointers they can give me. I might just lay off g+ until they improve on it a bit..

I don't think G+ will ever surpass Facebok. I use G+ here and there but I don't think I could permanently use it over Facebook. That'd be a pretty tough transition for me.

Dependency issues? Ha ha, why would it be so hard to transition?

I actually started using it regularly about a month ago. Just like facebook, it took a bit of getting used to and finding all of the right buttons to push. You actually have more control over what you do. Got tired of facebook constantly changing without letting you know. I now prefer google+

Agreed.
I still find it tough to do without many people on my facebook list though.

Moved to Off-topic.

I use G+ a few times per day. It won't be replacing Facebook for me, as practically all my friends are on there. I do like the discussions and cool posts on G+ though.

I was hoping to use g+ the way I was using tumblr. Posting pics, writing certain things that are only viewable by me. What's really getting to me though is just the way uploading pictures work. Not being able to upload a picture on my phone to a specific album really kills it for me.

I use it daily. But not as a facebook replacement. More of a place to meet new people and read interesting posts that dont involve rants and poor grammar lol.

I guess I'll pop in here:
Nope, I don't use Google+ much at all. I started using Facebook a long time ago. When I got a Google+ account, I didn't know how to use it and it was a hassle to learn everything. I switched back to Facebook.

I used it before, but not anymore. I deleted my profile when i noticed that G+ is the same as FB. The only difference is that i have real friends on FB, and not just some random Germans and Americans that just have to show what they had for dinner today, or post 18 random Google Image images a day, just to get +1.

I have used G+ a bit to see what it's like...but I end up just using Facebook for everything social. Plus, way more people I know are on FB anyway.

I use it daily... I got tired of my feed filled with "such and such liked a photo"
Sent from my SGH-T999

I used when it was new, but because of lack of people using it i slowly forgot it.

Agreed! The same reason i shifted and now prefer G+
Also with G+ i find it is much much easier to chose who I share certain posts with.

We all know about Facebook privacy issues. But, we are still using it. FB is one thing that u hate but u can't go too far from!!. Google+ I used it just to check what's hot!. I don't have many friends on google+ as on FB so maybe this other reason beside getting to used to part!

I am & I love it.

G+ is much better, but getting people to shift over from FB is nigh impossible which sucks

Mobile Facebook (Not the official app)

I saw this on the market, I hadn't seen it before so I don't know whether it is new or it has just been updated but there are no reviews of it and I can't read the website so I'm not sure what to think of this app really.
http://www.cyrket.com/package/oms.sns.facebook
I haven't purchased it so I don't know if it is any good. Have any of you guys seen this before?
Thanks,
Simon.
Yeah it is new as I just noticed it as well. Anyone wanna take the dive and purchase and post impressions?
hmm based on that one review doesn't seem good :/
probably just another mobile facebook wrapper.
I emailed the Dev, asked him if it's a native app using FB's APIs or a wrapper, and asked for screenshots.
We'll see what he says.
Got a reply:
From Email said:
Hi Jordan,
Mobile Facebook is a native application, not by Browser, which using Facebook APIs,
FBook is a Browser,
Our application is totle different from FBook, we can access Facebook very fast, and also enable user access wall message, phonebook, friends information,
Enable you upload photo, video to Facebook,
Show news feed,
We will find a website to show more information about Mobile Facebook.
Thanks your mails

He sent me a ton of screenshots of the app in use. Screenshot attachments continue in the next post.
Continued screenshots.
Conclusion: The app doesn't look as pretty as Bloo does, but it looks far more powerful and integrated. I don't know if it's worth the $3.50, though.
I like Babbler myself. The first true native Facebook app.
Is it just me, or are those screenshots totally confusing? It's not the language barrier per-se, but I can't tell what any of those pages are supposed to be showing.
The thing that has me wondering though is, I thought there was no mail API - that's why Bloo and the others don't have mail yet.
Edit: Ok, I downloaded it and took some screenies of my own.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/nolageek2/sets/72157621869871714/
My opinion - it does a LOT. But it's kinda fugly and not fun or intuitive to use. I couldn't figure out how to view people's photos or reply to their wall posts, but I only had it for about 10 minutes and decided that I didn't like it enough to keep playing with it.
You could reply to e-mail, that was kind of cool. You couldn't do it from the message-read page though, you had to long-press on the message title on the message-list screen.
Mail is the only thing I saw that this has that Bloo doesn't (I haven't used babble). And with blue it's a LOT easier to comment on walls, photos, etc...
As you can see though, from the screenshots, it's got a LOT of options, so maybe I missed something.
Thanks for the review, nolageek.
If the interface improves, I wouldn't mind trying it. It'd be nice as well if the author could share their hacks with the Bloo and Babbler devs. Unless he's just recoding the HTML from the m.facebook.com site.
i like bloo the best so far, but i'm going to reserve judgment until the official app comes out next week.

Apps like Babbler and Bloo *could* do mail, but if they did they wouldn't be an officially approved Facebook app, since they wouldn't be following the guidelines of using strictly the API.
Neither of them are an officially approved Facebook app. There is no officially approved Facebook app, and no official Facebook app anyway.
And Babbler originally had mail, but it redirected users to the mobile site. Kind of a botched version. They've since dropped it in favor of pure API access.

there is rumored to be an official facebook app releasing with the launch of the MT3G, which happens next week. I see this as being strongly possible seeing as facebook, after years of TMO hating, just decided to open up mobile alerts for TMO customers.

wrong. there is a difference between an "official" app and an "approved" app. facebook approves apps and puts them on the web site if they follow all of their guidelines for apps. since facebook has announced they are making their own OFFICIAL app, they aren't listing android mobile apps anymore.

Not made for android. Made for all phones not iphone. But same page. Have you compared that feed to the real site? Its brutal. 1st few items are new, and then it just tosses a bunch of crap in from 24 hours ago or older. For anyone that uses facebook a few times a day, x.facebook is awful. Pretty tabs, but if feed is wrong, useless

There's a follow limit??? whalefail...
I made an account just to protect my screenname, never twitted with it. I dont think anyone really cares when I fart or where I am every 10 minutes. If they wanted to know theyll just ask.
Five reasons that explain why I have no idea why Twitter is popular...
1. All that's there is a status message. Where's the profile?
2. Abbreviating annoys me.
3. Do celebrities really respond all that often?
4. Does anyone have a life of their own and not follow celebrities?
5. Facebook has everything Twitter does and more.
I got into twitter to follow people like Cyanogen, kmobs, pershoot, etc. to get updates on roms and kernels and such. I guess I got sucked in lol.

Yeah, after you have followed 2000 people. The limit is 10% after that, up to 1,000 a day. I get around 600 new followers a day, but I usually follow that, plus whatever else I need to hit the limit.
I use twitter for news and posting news. It's not about when people fart or taking a crap, like what everyone that hasn't tried it thinks.
One of the reasons why Facebook is coping Twitter again with the Follow person feature thing. Twitter is up to 175million people. If it keeps this up, more will be using twitter than facebook. Old people playing farmville is what comes to mind from facebook anyways.

Without female support social networking would've never reached it's current height, it would be just another internet pipe dream. Whether it's guys trying to "pick up chicks" or just the fact that women are ~50% of the population, having a female presence is essential if Google+ is to get anywhere.

Only room for one social networking site

So Google+ is soon to be released to the public. Do you think Facebook is to big and powerful to fall
Or is Google simply to powerful to fail?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
Facebook is dead. Google has all other smartphone competitors by the gonads now with Google+. G+ will be the prevailing social site and Google will have total control of it and whether they allow competitors to use it. Facebook will be a sinking weight on Google's competitors because of it dying off.
Only time will tell.
Both could exist - it's possible. There are the people who are sick of facebook and that whole ecosystem that want to move to the next best thing. But then there are the people who are engrained into facebook and so are their friends, and they have no motivation to leave it. Its up for grabs really.
Apple users and non geeks will stick to facebook....
The rest of us will use G+ and probably peek at facebook once a day to see what people we dont give a crap about are up to....
Or something....
Edit;
How until we see a social network from Apple??
Ping or whatever that crap was/is called doesnt count as that is obvious fail.....

Okay, I realize this may be more of a rant than a question but...
I purchased a VZ dev edition Moto X and couldn't create a non G+ account to order the phone so I ordered as a guest. Now if I try to check the order status I can't get a status update unless I sign up for a G+ account.
Does the attempted forcing of G+ get any less extreme when trying to get developer software for the phone, or do anything for that matter?
This whole G+ thing is starting to make me dislike Android.
So deal with it. This is what comes along with the device. Im tired of people whining about it and not putting effort into finding a way to deal with it. Make one and forget about it.

I think we (as in Android fans) need to realize that Google+ is definitely the future focus of Google. We're seeing that with GMail, Hangouts, search results, Youtube comments, etc.
Google+ will be your Google account completely, in the end. I think they've been pretty vocal about it. Personally, I like using Google+ (many of my nerdy coworkers and friends are on it), so it's not a big deal to me. But I can see how it rubs some the wrong way.

Unfortunately I believe you are right. I Can find old usenet posts from 1994 that I made. Although they aren't bad or embarrassing they seem kind of silly when I read them 20 Years later and I really wish they would go away.
On the positive side I had my kids search my name and read the messages and after laughing at me they realized the permanence of putting silly information on the interwebs.
I really dislike Apple but G+ just may be enough to push me to the dark side or I'll have to create an online alter ego.

G+ account is forced on anyone with a Google account. Can't get around it. That being said, you can (just like me) set all of your preferences to "just me"or whatever and then never use it. Honestly the privacy settings on it are easy. It's all just a way for Google to inflate their number of g+ "users." Makes business sense for them and is easy enough to ignore on the consumer end.

I did set up a g+ account early on and deleted it when it made my share by link picassa family photos available when my name was searched on Google. I ended up deleting everything from picassa, and now use a synology nas for all of my personal files and pictures.
I guess I'll be one of the last cloud holdouts which is ironic because I was online before http.

Wait.
A friend of mine never touched G+ but he does have a gmail and it's not a problem with purchasing it through MotoMaker.
When I bought mine here in Canada, they also request a gmail account. Not G+. (albeit I do have G+ active using my gmail)
I don't get what's the problem here...

I believe the OP is referring to the checkout page on Motomaker you are given the option to checkout as a Guest or login with G+ for the ability to track the status of your Motomaker order which requires you to setup a Motorola ID which itself requires using a G+ account.
But G+ account is nothing more than any Google account is it not???
If you have Gmail account, you have a G+ account automagically. Am I missing anything here? Do you need to active your G+ or something? Have a few meaningless posts and people in your circles to have it activated?

Maybe with new accounts but not on old accounts.
