Nice! I can't wait to get my Touch 3G I am sure the extra umph power is always good. Tell us more about your Touch Pro how is it going with shipped ROM?
I am on Sprint. Thus far its a far superior phone to my 6800 which I really did love. The fit and finish is very nice, the tolerances seem nice, and there are a lot less buttons to create little crevaces for dirt. I have added some normal apps to it like google maps, musicID and dashwire. This thing is very very fast. I wish it had a bit more rigid screen however the VGA screen on this is very nice, it just could feel a bit more firm. It is loaded with great things, moves quickly, and the mercury switches in it are very very sensitive. So far so good. I'm looking for some cool apps, tricks and other things to make this thing more fun.

One of my friends has the same phone - also by sprint, but it seems to lack the mercury switches; odd.
Believe it or not, I was going to go for the touch pro, but decided against it as it came in black. Got sick of black gadgets now let's throw some colour in.

perhaps its not mercury switches. someone told me thats what they are called. I'm talking about those little sensors that allow you to flip and rotate things by changing the landscape of the phone.

I actually picked it up in the silver...I think the black looks better, but it smudges a lot and this one stays relatively clean looking.

Physical rotation of the phone rotates the phone portrait? Those are mercury switches.

You mean the G-sensor right? lol. I've never heard of mercury switches. And I don't see how they could be missing??? Hmm. Tell him to install G-sen and that other app gyrator 2 or something like that in the diamond forum. It should fix his problem.

Theoretically in my mind i think the term "mercury switches" makes perfect sense. This is how i see it; mercury is a liquid metal thus conductive and free to move with the pull of gravity. Imagine the mercury switch as like a 2D diamond shape - 4 corners with a drop of mercury inside. So when for example, you rotate the phone (only 4 distinct directions) upside down the mercury will close the "upside down/top corner of the diamond" circuit, thus signaling the software to change/rotate accordingly.
Otherwise maybe you could use a ball-bearing (which would not be silent like the mercury when it moves)

Hey guys, i was wondeiring if you any of you would know if this
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14953 would fit on the HD2? it looks really nice and i would like a macro lense for it, please get back to me thanks
All I can really say is "Wow". That's kinda crazy. I mean if it was detachable then that would be one thing but it looks like it takes the place of the standard bezel and uses the sticky tape to attach. No more putting the phone in your pocket or hip case at this point.

uhhm it is detachable! lol its connected using MAGNET or its magnetic i just want to knwo if it would fit for the HD2.
Macro lens provides better pictures for close up shots right?
Does this count? Lawl. It's a weird thing that I've obtained either from a broken microscope or something or from some camera. I found it laying around the house so I can't really remember where I got it from. All I know, this baby + any camera = excellent shots. The second picture is a close up of the cloth it was originally sitting on.

yeah that is correct, but im just curious about if that thing would fit on the back of a HD2 lol i know it fits on the evo4g just not sure about the HD2.
I remember seeing an article (possibly on Engadget) about one of these for the HTC Evo and I wondered if there was one for the HD2 at the time... I can't answer your question but I will be following your thread.

2 poisonwolf:
I bought a cheap kids 99p telescope and did get some magnification with it but not as much as yours, well done
I put mine on the back of my n95 but had to zoom in to the maximum to prevent the 'black tunnel' as seen in poisonwolf's second picture.
If you were to buy one, i'd make sure it fits properly so no extra zoom in is required.
Can't you just buy a something like a case mate and stick the lens on the cover?

yeah you could, but an extra layer could mean the magnet isnt as strong for it to stick. so i want to check if it were possible to fit on HD2 with out.
I've looked aound quite a bit for this but so far no go. The HD2 lens protection is moulded like a square blob. I doubt we can find anything that is manufatured with a square base.

but if you think about it. the camera is all round. just the outside is square, but therefore it is connected via magnet so i think regardless of square of cirle?

Whats the diffrence for the US version?
that's the questioni had too, since my understanding was there's no difference except memory. but who knows, I'm not the expert. maybe someone shed light on this matter for us.

I'm not really sure those would work so well...they were necessary for older touchscreens because they had difficulty determining where you were touching when the area being touched was so wide (the width of a finger versus the width of a ballpoint pen tip). Also the tips of those are very wide so it seems like the whole benefit of using a stylus would be lost. I wouldn't recommend it.

HTC is attempting to resurrect the stylus with HTC Flyer tablet
But yeah, I wouldn't recommend using it either.. at least not for a smartphone.
For a tablet? Don't see the point in this either but it'll be interesting to see what creative ideas HTC brings.
I have a stylus. It has a sponge type tip which emulates a finger i guess lol. It works perfectly fine! I use it bc i wear gloves at work.
I bought a case on amazon, the "S" shaped one, and it comes with 6 screen protectors and a stylus very bad quality pen. It works on nexus screen...
http://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-GOOGL...VEBI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1298659197&sr=8-4
I have a couple of cheap iphone touch stylus and they simply work (they work hit or miss with nexus one and MT4).
I just got my Nexus 7 and I am NOT liking the ergonomics. I find it difficult to hold on the sides. I'm coming from a Nook Color which is easy to grip anywhere with one hand. If the edges were not as round on the back, I don't I think I would have such a problem. Also I had expected the "rubber" back to have better grip. I don't know if these are deal breakers for me just yet. Grip or holdability from the bottom is pretty good; I perhaps could get use to it. Everything else is amazing including build quality, except the usb cable is too short at 3 feet; I wouldn't use it, except charging is too slow without it. What's going to help with the ergonomics, a skin or case?
I think I'll add a poll on how well others like the ergonomics.
We've got some baby hands over here....just kidding, but I see what you're getting at. I actually like it for two hand usage more so than one handed. I however really like the feel of the tablet. It just feels solid and premium.

Saw it on American family Phil was using it on his iPad. I might just buy a case and fashion it on there myself

I'd say they could be better. The first thing I noticed was that I prefer portrait over landscape a lot. The home button is too far away from either of my hands in landscape making it awkward to press. It's also hard to type in landscape since it takes a lot of reach to hit the keys near the middle. Even the sleep button seems a little awkward to press. I have to take my hand totally off the tablet to get to it. I feel I might like it more once I get my case since I'm overly cautious about getting smudges on the bezel right now.
i prefer the homescreen portrait layout. The only thing that i can point my finger on is the tablet wants to be picked up due to the position of the sleep/wake button. Sometimes i prefer to just turn it on while its on the desk but that doesn't seem like an option anymore, also they could have made the screen slightly longer on top and bottom, but when putting it into landscape mode you can see the thinking
Don't get me wrong...I love the N7 but a few things I find difficult coming from the Nook.
every time I try to turn the volume up I end up turning the screen off....
90% of the time that i pick it up I have it upside down. I never had this problem with the Nook thanks to the little ring/hook.
I agree it's slightly awkward to hold, but maybe it's just because I'm being very reserved with my new baby. Gotta keep her clean for a little while at least...
Hello everyone,
I bought on ebay this smartcover since I saw that lots of people were talking great about it (like being the best cover for Nexus 7). After some days of use, I found out that my lockscreen bugs quite a lot and I'm not always able to unlock my device if it's in the smartcover, and yesterday I found out a strange use of the system, like it drained my whole battery without using it.
Anyone is experiencing same issue? Shall I go for another cover?
Thanks everyone,
Tiwiz

I actually can't believe you just posted this, I've had this case for a couple of months and literally last night started putting the battery issue down to the fact that the case/cover may be waking the tablet when it shouldnt.
Also I've noticed that maybe like 50% of the time, when you open the cover it doesn't unlock, other half of the time it does?
Same issues?!

Seems were in the same boat here, as I went through 3 cases until I found this.
Loved it but these issues are doing my head in.
From what I can see, if you close the case, then turn it to its front, the front of the case is still raised.
This could cause the sensor to think its not closed sometimes?
I dno, just pondering.
But do it and tell me if your case does this, like if you look at it from the front and top, theres a gap between the case and screen.
I hope you understand what I'm saying there

Thats what I believe it is, due to the front part of the cover not actually touching the screen EVER, I'm just thinking that every so often, the Nexus just thinks its not there, wakes up and then the cover is activated again and then goes back to sleep, then back into deepsleep.
Thats my theory, but I'm still keeping the case, its great

I have another case shown with another problem, used to get random screen offs, then it become more worse over time, to the point whilst I was actively using the tablet the screen would go off constantly, i now use it it out of the case until now to take a photo.....guess what? I couldn't type in my pin number.
Makes me think that with my problems and the OP problems, may I know why the official cases from Asus don't have a magnet inside.
Just a thought.

I have more or less the same cover (mine has a leather piece that covers the bezel... which doesn't bother me). It does work well and it looks great. And I've had no issues with the smart lock (but my N7 is set to go into airplane mode whenever the cover closes, so that may have something to do with it). I would recommend it.

To be clear, I was talking about the one you posted, not the one from the original poster.
As I said, mine is a bit different than that one... http://www.hipstreet.com/hipstreet-asus-google-nexus-7-rotating-case/
The rotating is the best part of the cover. I know people who have smart covers that fold back and the magnets turn off the screen from behind. I can just rotate mine and avoid that problem. Also, as shown in the promo pictures, the rotating is good for standing the pad up in both portrait and landscape. When it's closed it looks like a moleskine notebook, so I can carry it to work and meetings and look professional.
That said, it did fall of the top of my counter onto a tile floor and landed on its side with no damage. No guarantees, but I was happy.
(And I got it cheaper than the MSRP from Staples Canada... $29 as I recall.)
I have the same case as the OP and I have issues with it locking itself when its open but that may be the magnet triggering the lock from the back side of the device. I've also noticed some battery drain with the cover closed, almost as if its being locked/unlocked throughout the day.
