Notification Widgets - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to change the widgets displayed in the notification bar?
While the ones included are pretty handy I'd like to have the "torch" widget up there, as well as 3G and Data on/off.
I know that some custom ROMs offer this but is there a way to accomplish the same thing on the stock ICS rom?

You don't necessaily need a widget to have those apps you need importantly be always on your phone's homescreen.
If your on stock 4.0.4 ICS ROM, you can simply download modded notification bars/menus from the links below and find out for yourself if it suit your needs or not.

Cheers mate, but I don't want widgets on the home screen I'm looking to add to the ones in the pulldown notification bar.

Cheers, this looks more like what I was trying to achieve. The first one especially. I'll have to come back and read it when I get home, but so long as I don't need to be rooted or have a custom ROM installed that should do the job. Thanks!

If you install it you will know its a notification widget not home screen widget...

Just installed it. It's a great app. Shame that it doesn't replace the existing widgets and that not all support one click toggle. But it's allowed me to get the torch toggle into the notification bar which is what I was looking for. Thanks

Stock Android unlockscreen

Is it possible, after rooting, to get the stock Android unlockscreen?
not development moved to general
Just install "Widgetlocker" from market
You can customize it to look exact like stock lockscreen or with moer features
I use "Goto lockscreen" though

Is there any lag using widgetlocker? been tempted before but thought it might create some lag.
Fairly sure soon there will be a .zip file that will be available for the stock lockscreen or when we get an AOSP ROM the stock lockscreen will be included.

Haven't experienced any lag with DHD using widgetlocker...
but the alternative, would be to remove the LG lockscreen on a rooted phone and push stock lockscreen instead... should be possible already now, but haven't tried it... Guess I'll just wait a few days for custom ROM instead
Widgetlocker or GOTO lockscreen is the easiest alternative right now

[Q] Unable to arrange icons in menu screen - Paranoidandroid 2.12 - JB 4.1.1

Hi guys
I'm using the amazing rom which called Paranoidandroid 2.12 and when I'm trying to edit and arrange the icons on the menu (not on homescreen) and even creating a new folder it's impossible .. tried using nova & apex launchers and it doesn't work either .. is there any way to do that ?
Thanks,
Moshe
What you are referring to is the App Drawer, not the "menu" (big difference!).
Creating folders and rearranging the program icons within the App Drawer is something that is specific to Samsung's TouchWiz launcher, and as such is something that you can't do in Apex or Nova.
What you can do, however, is set up the top headers to be pseudo-folders. Currently it should say something like "apps" and "downloaded" and "widgets" or similar. With the paid-for Apex Pro (I know Nova does the same, but I am unfamiliar with the launcher and the corresponding process) you can customise those headings. On mine, for example, I have the headers set to "Programs" (I HATE the phrase "Apps"), "Tools" and "Games" with the widgets list disabled.
So, if you are after folders, and can make do with only three folders (the widgets section is redundant as long as you can add a widget to your homescreen with long-press) then you can do that with Apex Pro.
Unfortunately, there USED to be a thread in the apps section for the JB GSIII Touchwiz launcher for CyanogenMod 10, but for some reason I can't find it anymore to link it to you...
so, arranging the icons on the menu like on ics (not on the homescreen) not available on jb ?

you still mean the App drawer, not the menu! The menu is the text list that appears when you press the left capacitive button on the phone or the three dots in apps. The App Drawer is the full list of all programs you have installed on your phone with icons. The two are very different, please refer to the correct thing as it's very confusing otherwise!
anyway, as luck would have it, I've found the thread for Touchwiz on CM10: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854826
If you install this then you will be able to do everything that you remember and require from stock Galaxy Note ROMs including folders in the app drawer.
As another clarification for you, ICS and JB are not the problem for you. When you say ICS you mean the stock Samsung Galaxy Note ICS Touchwiz based ROM, and when you say JB you mean Paranoid Android 2.12 CyanogenMod 10 based ROM. Those last bits are crucial. Apex runs on ICS just find and you still can't do the folder thing that you want to do with Apex on ICS. Only Touchwiz - regardless of Android version - can do the folders and rearranging of icons in the app drawer.

I didnt try that launcher but i think thats not a bug
In touchwiz, when you change the wallpaper, you need to select whether to scroll or not to scroll

[Q] MiniCM7 Status Bar

Hello everyone,
I installed the MiniCM7 on my phone, all just went fine, then i decidied to install GoLauncher Pro, what i've noticed is that when the screen is locked i can't pull down the status bar.
I also tried with the stock locker and the Go Locker.
Note: The status bar scrolls down a bit but quickly it goes up again.
What is the rom u installed?

Well, the statusbar can't go down on stock lockscreen on GB. It can go down only on ICS+ stock lockscreen.
But if you are using 3rd party app (like GoLocker), there should be option to disable statusbar in the GoLocker settings. Look there for this option and try to change it

Still doesn't work, with the screen unlocked the status bar pulls down fine, only when it's locked it work won't. I think the problem is incompatibility with other launcher since the ROM already has own launcher (ADW.Launcher)
its not incompatibility its the fact that gingerbread (2.3), which minicm7, is doesnt have the feature to pull down the statusbar on the lockscreen like ICS does. try minicm9 if u really want to be able to do it or there maybe a mod to do it for minicm7
WidgetLocker Lockscreen.

Lockscreen Widgets?

Will we be able to get lock screen widgets with any of the ROMs? Or since the ROMs have to be based on TouchWiz, does that mean we're stuck with basically just themed roms? None of the ones out yet seem interesting, they all just look stock. I'm looking for a rom with custom battery icons, new features, lockscreen widgets, etc. Really missing my Samsung Galaxy S3 with the lack of customization available for the S5.

Check out ninjamorph(in the playstore). I just found it a few days ago u can theme the heck out of your phone with it. Once you get the hang of it it's a breeze. However you do have to have your own icons to swap out or just edit the ones that are there. Here's my power menu themed with ninjamorph

ok, tested and working on my device based off of G900F OEM, this mod should work for all variants. let me know how it goes
copy to sdcard, reboot to SS Recovery and flash, then reboot.
to add or change widgets swipe left or right on the lockscreen

Very much appreciate that you took the time to do this - I'm assuming I need the ROM as well, correct? Or will this work with the stock ROM just by following your steps?

This "Should" work with stock as well as any custom ROM, (I say should because as a mod it is independant of any other requirements) but make sure you flash through SafeStrap recovery make a backup first just to be safe.

Gave it a try but no bueno with the stock ROM. After flashing the zip and rebooting, I lost the lockscreen and hardware menu and home buttons entirely, only the back button was working. Restoring my backup now -- tonight I'll try flashing your ROM and then install the lockscreen widgets.
Wanted to update this thread in case anyone else wanted Lockscreen Widgets back - I installed SafeStrap and the KoolKit ROM then flashed the zip file and I have LockScreen widgets again. Huge thank you to @cstayton for coming up with a solution so quickly!
You can also use Xposed instead of flashing SafeStrap to get Lockscreen Widgets...

xPosed has lots of modules for all sorts of different things HOWEVER, xPosed also causes some very abhorent behavior in custom roms and can cause bad behavior even in stock rooted devices most devs shy away from xPosed in favor of hard coded mods. if the module works fine for then great but if you have issues like private mode not working serious lag on your device or other problems try using the hard coded mods with a custom rom
