Back-to-school improvised sleeve - Nexus 7 Accessories

I dunno about anyone else, but when I was in middle school we were required to cover our textbooks and often used those stretchy covers. Well, I haven't found too many sleeves around here, but I needed to protect my tablet when I brought it to appointments and such. So I grabbed a textbook cover and slid it in one side, wrapped the extra width around and then slid in the other side of the sleeve. I would post pics, but I'm on my tablet now. For those of us who are waiting for quality sleeves, these are less than a dollar a pop ( or free if u have kids who buy them every year). -Ara

Scosche SGT Case

Guys,
Just wanted to share this experience with you. I purchased the Scosche case for my SGT and LOVED IT (initially). This tablet held the tablet securely (initially) and the ability to mount it at different angles was GREAT for me, considering I travel a lot and spend way too much time on airplanes.
Anyway...after having this case for 3 months (the amount of time I've had the tablet)...the case grips end up stretching out and loosing their grip on the unit.
I saw other similar reviews (that the case grips didn't hold up), but ignored them, now I wish I didn't...
First, the tablet ended up slipping out of the case in my laptop bag, and being unprotected, the screen ended up scratched against the end of a power cord...
Today my SGT fell out of my hands and while the case protected it when it hit the rug (initially) the SGT popped out of the case on impact and ended up on tile, cracking the screen. Being that I purchased the unit as a 'refurb' I don't have any coverage on the unit and am now out $250.
I would recommend anyone considering purchasing this case for it's form factor/convenience SERIOUSLY RECONSIDER.
Don't be like me and think "I'm sure that won't happen to me" and end up owning at $300+ paperweight.
The purpose of purchasing a case is 1) protection and 2) convenience...and you can't have #2 w/o #1...
DO NOT BUY SCOSCHE.
just ordered the scosche foldio case a few days ago
Using a Zenus color edge case since launch and my only complaint is that I am growing tired of the color that I picked. I did use a speck candy shell for a few months but I ended up breaking part of it so I went naked for a month and eventually ended up back in the zenus...fit is still as snug as ever.

Were you talking to me? I can post pics of the 3 month old/worn out case....actually I will soon, to prove this is a terrible quality item and hopefully no-one else buys it and the same happens to them.
I just ordered a replacement touchscreen from ebay, hopefully I can repair my 'baby'...the replacement screen was $25, which seems low to me, but we'll see???
For the Zenus case, looks very nice, what is the outer border made of? rubber? plastic? I purchased the HP OEM Touchpad case for my new touchpad and aside from not liking the viewing angles or not being able to secure the flap to the device, I really do like the outer material and rubber border around the TP, hopefully this is the same type of thing?
zenus is full leather. not sure what is inside the rigid elements but it is very sturdy and covered with high quality leather.

received my scosche foldio case today. looks real nice, fits good, but i doubt it will have enough grip in a few months to hold it in the different angles.
but for now it is okay. hope i will never drop my tab as i have no warranty for it.

Mine is about 6 months old and still grips like day 1. Maybe give them a call?
Had my Targus Truss Case/Stand for 11 months now with no issues, I travel alot with it as well.

DODOcase Review

So I received my DODOcase last week and I've decided to write a review about the case for everyone.
You can find it here: DODOcase for Nexus 7
Price/Shipping:
First off, and the shipment was pretty quick to me. I was impressed since I ordered it on Monday and had it by Thursday. I believe they hand make these cases by order basis, and so to have it turned around in under a week was nice. The box it came in wasn't fancy lol. It was just a cardboard that was cut out and folded to protect it from shipment damage. It did its job though and got to me in perfect condition. Price was steep for a case, at least for me. Came out to $48 with a 10% off coupon with shipping and taxes. You also get another 10% off coupon for someone else to use when you buy from them and if someone uses the coupon and buys a case you get another 10% back. I got another 10% back because someone used my coupon recently and ordered a case.
Quality:
The quality of the case is very high. I was impressed to say the least when I first removed the case from the packaging. You can tell it was created by good workmanship, material is good quality. Feels nice to the touch and it looks very nice to carry around. The color was spot on with what they had on the website, I couldn't be happier with the quality of this case. The elastic band is the same color as the inner panels, I was kind of assuming it would be off a lot but it is really spot on.
Functionally:
Well sure it is pretty but how well does it function at its true core, a case. First the tablet is secured to the case by a doubled sided sticky tape. You peel the top layer off the tape and stick your tablet in place. I had to reset the case about 2 times to get it just where I wanted it. The tape never lost its strength and still holds very very well. I read you can reuse this tape as well by just wiping down the tape with water and it restores the stickiness to it. Haven't tried this yet though.
Next the fit of the case. The case itself is very thin and sleek, and just hugs the Nexus 7 perfect. As you can see in my pictures, the case is very close in size to the Nexus 7, it leaves a little boarder between the edge of the tablet to the edge of the case. Just enough so I would be confident that it would protect my Nexus 7 from a drop. I really like the fit of this case, can't stress that enough. Plus it is pretty light. One thing that kind of bugs me is the Power/Volume buttons are a little harder to access with case on. The case is so low profile that it comes very close to the buttons - the way ASUS place the buttons on the curve of the back panel causes this little problem, so you kind of have to angle your finger different then you normally would to push the buttons.
Lastly, the perch modes and carrying. The standing up perch mode works well for viewing movies at your desk, browsing the web and controlling your playlist for music. I stick the elastic band under the back to give it better support on slick surfaces. The laying down perch mode is okay. I wish it had a wider angle but I understand that to keep this case low profile, it had to stay at a lower angle. Usually I am carrying this case in my hand. It feels good to carry it in one hand and do want you need with the other. I can also thumb type very easy with the case on and folded back. I am typing this whole review actually from my Nexus 7 with the DODOcase, feels comfortable still.
I love the smart cover feature (sleep/wake) this case has. It works perfect, turns off and wakes the screen as intended. The elastic band is a nice feature as well. It looks great when the case is closed and it holds the case shut very well. I guess looking down the line, I can probably see that the elastic band might become dirty from always taking it off and on. I guess I could use try to wash the band if it gets to that point but I have only had it for a few days.
(TLDR)
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with this case. It's very low profile which is always something I look for in a case. It's sleek and sexy and yet adds that protection for your case if you ever happen to drop it, also very light weight. The sleep/wake functions were just the icing on the cake and really completes this case. The price is steep but you do get a high quality case that is sure to get some questions, coworkers and family have really recognized the quality of this case in the few days I've spent with it and really like it. I would recommend this case for anyone that is looking into it. :good:

EDIT Nvm, refreshed lol...
Thanks for the review! Was thinking of ordering one while I waited on my Treegloo case. Didn't like the idea of the strap being the same color as the inside cover (blue) but it actually looks good!
Thanks, you just cost me $48.00+ because I ordered one of these cases to go along w/ the tablet as a Xmas gift.
Where do I send you the bill? (I would have ordered a cheap Amazon type case because I didn't know about this company until I read your review - so, obviously, this is your fault! )
Handiwork looks beautiful. I just can't get enough of these bookcases!

Also buy the DODOcase for my N7 (but in carbon black).
And also very satisfied about it
I got the case in black when I got my N7 and it's a nice case.
Loving it.
Awesome review! I've been waiting around to see if I could find any thing better but every time I see the dodo i can't resist
Ahhhhh the price is sooooo steep lol. Does anyone know if it will fit the 3G model?? Basically access to the Sim port. Gooosshhh I might get one. Nothing but positive reviews!!!!

I really wish they had the wood frame for the N7 like the other cases they make. If they did I would order one right away! Instead I took a risk and ordered a Treegloo and hopefully that comes in soon :-\

Body Glove & Flip Cover Case Both Arrived Today

I think I like the more conventional Body Glove case better. Fits like a glove . Flip Cover is a little awkward to use and not as functional. Opening the cover and folding under to use the phone is a little complex and decidedly different. I think the Body Glove provides more protection even though it doesn't cover the screen. I use my short pocket anyway. Body glove courtesy Sprint and Flip Cover from Mobile Fun.
Some review with picture would be really appreciated

You can find pictures all over Google.
I love my flip case. Felt a little strange at first (like a book!) but after a few days I've got used to it. Never feel the need to fold the cover round the back, but then I tend to find myself using the phone mostly with my right hand and as the cover opens to the left it doesn't get in the way. I do wish it protected the sides of the phone, but I got a £3 Shocksock from Amazon so that keeps it safe
Just picked one up @ a Sprint store for $24.99. Fits perfect, good minimalist design took couple days for me to find one here in Lost Wages since TMO wont be selling accessories until Nov 7th
I know this thread is a little bit old, but a question I and several others have is if they would both fit at the same time? Would the flip covers "binding" get in the way? Thank you.
shouldnt
but a Japanese brand called ray-out released a tpu specifically designed for use with the oem flip cover

the only problem i can see is becoz the gn2 in korea or japan has a tv antenna, the cases sold there all have a hole at the top right corner
im gonna buy it from rakuten, which is similar to amazon in the states or gmarket of korea

Mine (when I get it) will be wrapped with the Body Glove TPU case, and chillaxin in my pant pocket.
Mine is naked for now. It's definitely a head turner. A lady asked me what company is it for and is it also a phone. She was using an iphone btw

Very very very carefully. I think this phone is a beast but it has an akelies hill in that it will break the glass if a coner is struck if it fall or is dropped. Im using an ebay case holster combo, not the amzer one. The one that looks similar to the seidio design.

The phone fits nicely in my pocket with its case. I do like to carry it around as you get a lot of people asking what phone it is.
Purse. It's got its own pocket, safe and snug. I do have a thin grippy case on it, and have a leather clamshell case on order, it'll fit in that pocket, too.
Suitcase and a luggage rack for transportation. No ive got a zenus diary case on the way.

I have basically swore off putting anything in my left hand pocket of any pants now, reserving it only for my phone, if I must put it in my pocket. If I am wearing a jacket, or in uniform, it goes in a breast pocket. I have learned the hard way that wet application screen protectors that aren't properly fitted to the phone to compensate for the rounded edges will catch on everything and eventually peel off. But ya, like the guy said, carrying it in hand is the best way, and I bought ensquared insurance just in case.
Body glove case for now in my left chest pocket since I always wear work clothes. And when not at work in the right leg knee pocket that all of my dickies have. Perfect for a phone of this magnitude. Can't wait for the defender to come out for it though.

I-Blason slim folio case

http://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-Goog...=1355461977&sr=8-1&keywords=nexus+10+i-blason
Finally arrived today. Aside for a slight gasoline-like odor, was pretty much as expected for the price. Fitting to the tablet is secure. The cover doesn't *quite* lay flat against the back when folded behind the tablet, but it doesn't get in the way. Just makes the case feel less than premium due to the play introduced by the slight gap. Especially when the tab is held in portrait mode.
Also not keen on the rigid, friction-style clasp which seems likely to leave a mark on the side of the tablet over time. I thought the bottom retaining clips would cause a similar concern when pulling the tablet in and out to use the 3-position stand slots, but the clips don't seem to rub against the device in the same way as the clasp.
The free stylus works fine, although they should have placed its elastic retaining loop on the right-top vs left as the current positioning gets in the way of the sleep/volume buttons.
Happy to finally have something to protect my device at a decent price, but I'll keep an eye out for something better. I'd be interested to hear how this case compares to the Poetic hard shell. From the pictures on Amazon, they appear to be identical (as does the Bluerex case).

I received mine as well. Quite possibly the longest shipping time i've ever seen from all my online purchases Agree with everything you said. overall I like it but I will be taking pliers to the fastener part. I believe it could wear a spot on the tablet after a while, which I don't want to happen!

I got mine today. And overall I am pretty impressed with it. Fit is good, the 3 /4 positions work like they should
It does smell like gas or something.
And I plan on bending the clip when you shut it as I am sure it will make a wear spot on the nexus
---------- Post added at 06:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:00 AM ----------
Update . my wife had an idea of using a nail file for the sharp part of the cover clip and it worked great. ( mine had sharp fishing line like thread sticking out.)
I noticed that, after a day of light use, the gas/chemical smell was much less severe on the inside cover side of the case than the area to which the N10 is moored. So I pulled the N10 from the case (the tablet backing had acquired the odor) and let both the tablet and case air out overnight. The smell is gone from the tablet backing and almost completely gone from the case. I'm betting another 12 hours airing out will see it completely disappear.
I may try bending that clip as well. I put the whole shebang into a cheapy Microcenter tablet sleeve for travel anyway, so having a secure clasp is secondary to preventing wear on the tablet body.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda premium
Does it stay closed via a magnet or the ole elastic strap trick or is there a metal fastener?
Any of those solutions would probably be preferable to the actual "mechanism". Unfortunately, the clasp is just a piece of the stiff case material which juts out and is bent at roughly 90' such that it sort of snaps over the side of the tablet itself. In snapping into place, it rubs against the outside of the bezel, which seems likely to leave a mark after repeated use. It is a nice, snug fit though and doesn't feel like its going to come loose on its own or anything.
Since the Poetic slim case appears to have precisely the same construction, I'm very curious to see if that fastener raises the same concerns.
