Can anyone let me know which ics rom doesn't suffer from the low disk storage message and duplicate music files?
Thanks for the help.

cm9 nightly
Cm9 nightly does not solve low memory issue. You may face if you data heavy apps..you can avoid it by moving bulky apps to SD card and by regularly clearing data and cache from some of the apps so that you have enough space in /datadata

all ics roms which are using the 170mb fast partrition are suffering from this message, look on the development section there is a fix for this...
Never had the low disk problem. As far as multiple files, go into "settings > apps > all > media storage" force stop, clear data & reboot. Worked for me

Hi,
I have a P1000 with CM10 (Humberos and Alroger) and I'm very pleased with this ROM.
It's such a difference if compared with GB that it really looks like having a new device.
There is one problem though that I'm not sure can be fixed: the random reboots.
I've dig a bit and apparently reboots are related to the lack of memory.
Analysing the available memory indeed I noticed that it easily goes around 50-70Mb which doesn't seem to be that much and probably this is the root cause of the random reboots.
I've enabled zRAM with a compression rate of 35% but this doesn't seem to have solved the issue.
So I'm wondering why nobody else is actually talking about this issue. Is the majority of P1000+CM10 users not having this issue?
Or it's just that we can't do anything about it and therefore we have to live with this?
In no way this post wants to be a complain. I'm just asking some more information to understand this issue better.
Cheers
Fiber7
Free memory is wasted memory.
This is not Windows which actively swap memory to swap.
if memory really is running low, the memory manager will kill inactive apps, not panic and reboot.

Hi Pryiana,
I'm not sure I got what you mean.
I'm not rebooting the system, it just does it automatically, that's the problem.
What I'm trying to understand here is why it reboots automatically.
Based on Alroger a solution to self reboots is to enable zRAM which is a kernel feature to compress data being written to memory to reduce the footprint.
Are you currently on a CM10 ROM?

I am on aokp jb using humberos kernel (forgot which date)
My point is :
the system reboots you are seeing, it is not because the ROM isn't providing enough free ram. It is something else. Maybe even because the memory manager isn't doing the right thing.
Maybe true that your attempt to free up more ram improves it, but it may just help to avoid hitting the real bug.
Anyway, I am not a dev.
Just a system guy.
I just want to say free ram is wasted ram.
In Linux systems, the kernel grabs as much ram as it can. Not free them.

OK, I see what you mean.
BTW, I can see from the cm10 thread that other people are having the same issue with the device restarting after a while.
Apparently 512MB are just not enough for Jelly Bean.

Err... Not true..
I am using AOKP JB for SGT7 by stimpz0r and no reboots for me.
Maybe cm10 not ready yet

I'm getting "Non Responding" box (old FC box...) on every ICS Rom I've tryied till now. Talking about ICS TW, stock or Custom.
When I go to Settings-Applications, the screen take some time to show apps (it's normal, OK), but after that, it doesn't show the apps size.
It freezes some seconds, then go Black screen, except for the notification bar. Nothing works, except the screen time-out.
After about 30 seconds, the message "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped working" or so, appears.
This issue appears frequently after a massive apps installation, i.e., after a data/factory reset changing Rom.
In other words: once the 2GB of internal memory are half-filled, the probability of this issue is high.
The phone works right, otherwise; but is hard to push big apps into the SD. I must open Apps2SD, be care to the "time window" while it shows "computing...", and force-push to SD, before Settings FC in the underground.
Sorry if I have been too long. The issue is really easy to see in the real life...
Nobody has/had this issue?

what's a "repetitioned phone"?
I've buy my Note in a very seriuos big shop. It's N7000 for Europe, original unlocked.
Coming with ... don't remember, maybe 2.3.5 Germany, but buy in Spain, back in mars.
Using deodexed LC1 for a long period, I think the most stable thing I've been using.
I've been using LRQ by g .lewarme (gavin), then CleaNote v6, then SweetRom...

Ah, yeah. I formatted it 2 times. Now it has about 6 GB free... Quite enough for anything.
I've moved nandroids & titaniums to external...
PS: sorry for this response delay, but I had to move on to my car...and park it on Friday night in Madrid....

What kernel are you on? What rom?

Notecore 14.1 OC
CleaNote v6
But this behavior appears on ICS, on any kernel-Rom I've tryied, Last Philz's are glam, but same thing. Hydracores are the worst, even with CleaNote!
Best w. Notecores and Speedcores. Std or OC doesn't influences noticiablely....
Edited; this behavior remembers me sadly the fatal combination Milestone-Droid with official Froyo update, who had same problem, amongst others...
Run a scan with the following app, sounds like you may have damaged emmc. If the scan crashes its bad news.

I yet had this app, but only made brick-bug test ("bad chip").
Anyway, "test passed"....
Another suspect behavior: if I click Storage on Settings, it takes almost 5 minutes (!) to display the USB storage occupation.
Never seen that on GBread, even with a huge number of apps.
Edited: writing this with the Note. It really works, as you can see. In fact, the Settings issue is the only noticiable one.
Just as a last thing, try removing external sd card, see if you get same behaviour after reboot.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Thanks, I will try that tomorrow. Bed is calling me...
Edited on Monday 26th: Same thing without the external-SD
Anyway. Waiting for a good JB to see if this behavior stops.
Thanks so much for read all this posts!!

Big go up to this thread, sorry . Maybe this can help someone.
I've flashed a JB Rom, the Sweet Rom v 2,5. I have almost a half internal apps memory occuped, and things are right! :good:
No more Settings FC (by now). It seems that something went wrong with the ICS SD-USB organization, at least on my device...
Now things go faster an safer.
Some of you, including myself, have had issues with the SD card randomly unmounting itself after upgrading/flashing to JB on the P970.
I was running CM10.1 and now I'm running Mackay 2.7.6.
I'm no expert and I'm not even sure if these things are related, but it worked. I haven't had any random SD card unmounts since.
Basically, when I first rooted and upgraded to CM10.1, I was using the JB bubbles live wallpaper and it would randomly unmount the SD. Sometimes twice within the span of ten minutes. Ever since switching to the standard [static] JB wallpaper, it hasn't unmounted once.
To be totally honest, again, I have no idea how or why this is the case, but it just is. So if you are having issues with the SD card unmounting, are you using a live wallpaper? And if so, try switching to a static wallpaper and see if that makes a difference.
Perhaps someone who knows better could explain how this could be the case, or if I'm full of BS and it's just a coincidence...
Seriously, i've noticed the same thing on this week. When i use live wallpapers the SD unmount more times.

Has your SD unmounted at all with a static wp?
So maybe... just maybe I could be onto something...
I'm not sure, but I think that happened 1 time only with static wallpaper.

this has nothing to do with the wallpapers itselves. it's like saying that your external hdd is randomly unmounted because of using animated walls. this is more like a resource issue since live walls use a lot of resource for our poor obay.
AW: Possible 4.2.2 P970 SD card random unmount fix
I never use live wallpapers. I never had random unmouting on GB but with ICS and JB ROMs, not much but I even had it once with IZS 0.4.

I formatted SD card and I've no unmount for 3 days. I'm on IZS 0.4 and using live wallpaper, now..

maybe this have nothing to do with live wallpapers, but is usually happen to me when i use it. So, can be one recurse of live wallpaper that occurs it, i can be wrong, but its a possibility.
Hi everyone, I just need to ask as I'm fairly new to this. When I had stock on my n7100 I had about 10gb usable after touch wizz which was about right. I have now installed liquidsmooth on here and am still showing the same amount free even though this rom is alot smaller. Is this correct? Did I not do something correct during installation? Thanks
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
its because of the way you phone's partitioned. no matter how small the rom is, the available storage partition will be the same. Just that you will get more space in the system partition,
Oh Ok I see. Thanks for the reply
