I am new to the bionic, but i was curious if there was anyway to upgrade the bluetooth to 4.0? TIA
Ain't gonna happen cap'n. You'd have to change the hardware and software.

Actually it already has happened, with the ICS leak .232. Bluetooth 4.0 was working. The phone had the hardware all along, It just wasn't turned on. I successfully connected a H7 polar heart rate monitor which is bluetooth 4.0.
All we have to do now is wait for the official ota of ice cream sandwich And we're golden!...... Hopefully
If that's true, then I take it back, and am pretty shocked to hear that.
Nope. The chip in the phone is 2.1, meaning that you can likely connect 4.0 accessories, but not with all of the benefits 4.0 would allow.

Anything BT 4.0-related... BT 4.0 IS backwards compatible, not sure if that's what going on here, but that seems like the most likely explanation if the chipset is indeed 2.1

Power saving would be the big one.

Simple fix - dont accept anything from anyone you do not know and or trust but i assume it must unless sony changed the BT stuff
not sure about the rest of you but when I'm not using bluetooth I turn it off as it's a batt eater
and when it's off there is no vulnerability
besides that hacking convention non of them broke any of the smartphones
because they're very secure ?
no it's still a small base compared to users with ie6 which is still
the main virus and exploit basics

I used to frequent here, but then I got my nexus one. I was just wondering if Bluetooth was ever fixed in the Hero/Sense builds?
Cheers

Why is it too bad?
That bloated ugliness has no place in civilized society.
Last I heard was from lbcoder's brick theory that using fastboot we would be able to flash the radio from a hero would make bluetooth work but I don't know if anyone has tried it. I would try it but I don't link sense...
So what do you guys think?
Will there be 3.0 for the N1?
It meets all the minimum requirements for gingerbread, and it is googles prized phone. So Vote and leave a response
Of course there will be.
Why would we only have one update? Of course we're going to get it.
this is a pointless post

Which are nothing more than a rumour.
What phone do you think they're going to be testing this on? Yeah, same one as the last OS update.

This.
10 chars.
Lets put it this way, if they dont release it for the N1, we will xD
Rumors about gingerbread already discredited, we are back to knowing little about it.
this thread is a result of another case of made up rumours being reported as fact

If its on the MIUI roms we could also have the chance to get it I think. Its just a app and a few data things... I hope someone could port it to the unrooted NS.
I thought there was a hardware issue which meant that it can't be done
which miui? post a link. details please? how did they overcome the hardware issues (power, antena, etc.)

This is impossible unless you add some hardware **** to your nexus.
Sent from my 1st android phone Nexus S
Unofficial port? It may have the FM app on it, I doubt it will work -- lack of hardware support.

I'm afraid so, it will not work.
At the Mobile World Congress 2012, Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 running Ice Cream Sandwich. GSMArena.com got their hands on a demonstrator and produced the Youtube video below showing it off. I think we can expect the ICS release for the 8.9 to look about the same. What do you think about it?

Early GT8.9 videos also showed phone app (and a sdcard slot), so this doesn't mean anything.

Yes, including voice in ICS is not a problem. I think we just need a baseband that includes voice capability. If anyone is brave enough to try and flash GT7.7 or GT7.0Plus modem.img then we could maybe make it work. Unfortunately trying this could brick the radio or worse. I have thought about trying this, but i just don't want to brick my device...

1. Auto-rotate was off, so we couldn't see the rotation animation which is sometimes a bit choppy in 3.x.
2. Portrait mode wasn't shown (which is slower for the 10.1 in 3.x compared to landscape).
I wonder if ICS really brings us these magic software hacks that make the Tegra2 limitations go away...
