Hi all, i don't really know where to create this topic, so excuse me if it's in the wrong place. I'm a bit mad actually, i explain my situation :
I've bought a 4X HD there's about a mounth now, and thill then it was great. Yesterday, i rooted my phone, no problems. But today, i wanted to restart my phone as i do time to time, but when it restarted the phone was extremely slow, as if it was a monocore 15 mo. I can't do ANYTHING with my phone.
Do anyone has a solution about that **** ? Damn, i really don't know how this could happened...
Thank you for your help

Yes, i deleted the apk after i got my 4X rooted. And all was working fine till today.
Today i only installed this app to try if it works : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821249
But instead of installing the modified app, i installed the original one (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.martinborjesson.o2xtouchlednotifications).
But the notifications didn't worked, so i decided to reboot my phone, and then it was deadly slow....
I'v tried to uninstal the app but all is too slow, i just can't uninstal anything...

Its seems the app is the reason for the.problem and not the root.
Maybe you can uninstall the app with adb?
I don't no the commands.....

I don't think the root has anything to do with my issue.
This app seems to.
But how to uninstall with adb ?
EDIT : I succeed hardly to uninstal the app through the drawer, but the problem remains =(
Have you rebooted since uninstalling the app?

I had a similar problem. After I rooted the phone I accidentally started the application on the phone again. A reboot doesn't help. I must repeat the whole rooting procedure again. And then the phone was normal.

Yeah, if you happen to run the app again, it will add the .prop file back which is what makes it really slow.

What i don't understand is that i've never launched the app again, i uninstal it when i saw that the root was on.
Thank you all for your precious advices. I finally decided to reset to factory settings, and all is fine again now ! :cyclops:
I want to root it again, but i'm a bit afraid now.
No way, i must root my phone
Also, there is one thing i don't understand, this part actually :
Open a command prompt (may need admin privelages, right click, run as administrator)
Type without quotes "cd C:\o4xr" and press enter.
Type without quotes "root" and press enter.
Wait while the script runs, and the phone will reboot automatically.
You should then see the command prompt "C:\o4xr>".
What the hell is a command prompt ? (sorry i'm not english)
I think that it's because of this part i missed that my phone was running so slowly.

Ive tried everything from factory reset to rebooting to removing the battery, I dont understand why my HTC Hero is in safe mode i havent downloaded any apps all i have done is tried to root my phone. I followed all the steps and got all the way to the "UNREVOKED" in the command prompt but i didnt get the "superuser permission" app in my app tray and im thinking its because the phone is in safe mode, anyone got answers about this that could help me out?
Mine was in safe mode after rooting 2.1 as well. I rebooted and it went back to normal. Then again, I notice that you haven't gained root yet. Running Unrevoked should have installed the SU app. If it didn't, I would try running the program again. Other than that, you haven't done anything that will corrupt the system, so I would still reboot and try the whole process again.
Im trying to root it now and everytime i go through the process im not getting the SU app in my app tray, anything you can think of that im missing?

Ok, a silly question... I sent my phone in to be fixed, it looks like they did a factory reset, if that is the case, is my phone likely "unrooted"?
How would I be able to tell?
Get into recovery mode to check if its s-off I guess, then download an app that needs root like titanium backup
Check s status by holding the trackball while booting up the phone
S-On it says so they "unrooted" my phone on me. Damn HTC lol...
Now I guess I have to think if I want to root again or leave stock... interesting thing was SuperUser was still on my phone but nothing else was, although CW wouldn't work when I redownloaded it...
Thanks though!

Yeah, but for someone who is asking how to check for root, I think you would have to spell it out for him: download a terminal emulator app and then type su. If you see a # sign, you have root.
Is the superuser app a sure fire sign?
Not necessarily.

No it doesn't guaranty it but most of the time it means it is. The best way to tell is to download terminal then type in it "su" then if the "$" prompt turns into a "#" prompt (after getting prompted by superuser) you have root access.
If you do not know how to check if you got root then you do not need to be rooted in the first place.

New method found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19390207#post19390207
If you run this and it doesn't root you try wiping data from Setting>privacy and wipe the internal storage as well. I did that and it worked for me. Granted I didn't try this method without wiping my internal. If nothing else it cleans it up for you.

Ok, so whatever changes you made ... it seems to work better in a virtual windows environment
Before it would get stuck at "daemon started succesfully"
now it goes through to "Installing Root Tools..."
but then I get a string of error messeages
either "device offline" or "device not found"
then "cleaning up" ... device not found
then "rebooting" ...device not found
then it freezes
when I unplug my device or toggle debugging mode it continues to say "root complete"
.... so close.
So If I'm rooted on Z4? then I still need to unroot and upgrade to Z6 for this to work?
Thanks a lot man for such this easy one-click-root tool.

It is not listed in the "All Apps" section of the apps manager.
Symptoms: When my phone rings the notification to tell me who is calling does not pop up. I have to go into the phone app to even see who is calling, much less answer the call.
My notification bar is gone.
When I get a text message my phone will vibrate, but not chime.
My wall paper is gone.
I have found threads about rooted phones where people have removed the systemui that this are the same symptoms they have. The problem is that they had the original rooted program they used, so can reinstall that. I cannot do that, as my phone is not rooted. That is why I think my systemui is gone.
Install root explorer and check in /system/app folder for the apk, or in /preload/symlink/system/app. If it's there in preload, you will need to create a symlink for that in system/app.

You won't be able to install it as you're not rooted and it requires administrator privileges. But it's there anyway so I don't think that's the issue.
When did it stop working and was there any app you installed beforehand?

Thats really strange... Try rebooting into recovery (Vol up, home and power held down until you see samsung logo) then choose wipe cache and reboot. I doubt that will fix it though.
Only other options I can see are to root device by installing phillz kernel, wipe cache and dalvik from recovery, or root device, reinstall the app and make sure permissions are correct, or wipe device and start from scratch.

Stop playing with essential parts of your system if you have absolutely no idea of what you are doing.
To get back to a reliable configuration:
download a stock rom and install it following the instructions in Dr. Ketan's thread here.
After that: start to read and learn. High probability this will protect the life of your device.
