What Kernals work with the stock AT&T rom - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I"m using the AT&T deodexed rom. I'm trying to put faux123 on but all it does is cause it to lock up when it hits the lockscreen and reboot. Sure enough I flashed the stock kernal back on and it boots up fine. I thought all the kernals were compatible

Cool thanks, I'm basically building my own rom, Given the limited amount of choices for this device it seems to be the best way to go. Don't look for it in the developer forum though lol.
I'm basically looking for a stock like experience with a few tweaks.

Bell hardware vs rogers hardware?

My wife and I both own raiders, originally from rogers..I s-offed both phones and we've been running the dark raider rom since about version 1.2 with no problems..still using wcx recovery as I haven't had any issues with it.
Our friend liked our phones enough to jump ship from blackberry and went and got a used bell raider running official ics. I unlocked his bootloader successfully, s-off worked like a charm, but here it gets weird.
It boot loops after trying to install ANY custom rom..! I tried 3 different recoveries, all of which failed on kernel install.. tried the old way and fastboot flashed the boot.img and still got boot loops or crash to recovery..I'm not new to these procedures..even had hyuh from juopunutbear irc remote in and try his hand at it with the same results.
I restored from bell ics ruu - phone boots normally. What gives? Did bell modify the hardware??

My buddy has the Rogers Raider (and I have the Bell) and I've done the root/s-off etc. on both of them and there was no difference in workflow needed.
BUT - I think you may have to flash an "insecure" kernel just once to allow your recovery to successfully flash kernels during the ROM install.
Below is the thread where you can download kozmikkick's insecure (aka "stockish") kernel. It's mentioned in the first post of the thread below. Give that kernel a flash (It looks like it is in a ZIP format that you can install via your ClockWorkMod recovery?) then try to flash your desired kernel. If you want to flash the stockish kernel manually, look inside the zip. There is a "holiday.img" file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572015
Also - Not sure if this matters, but I have been using ClockWorkMod v5.5.0.4 recovery and I have been able to flash many roms (and their respective kernels during the rom install)
Good luck!
So, since he's already s-off now and whatnot I can flash the "stockish" kernel you mentioned on his stock rom? Or will I have to try flashing a custom rom along with it? And if so, coming from Bell do you have any rom recommendations? I'm a fan of the dark raider rom personally.

Sorry bout the link.
I'm not sure if it will work with stock... my assumption would be yes because its called "stockish"... but I dont know. I say wait until you're ready to flash a custom rom before you try it. So - flash the stockish kernel (i prefer via fastboot), then reboot right into recovery, then flash rom... and see if it all went ok?
You have the stock Bell RUU, so if anything goes wrong, you can fall back on that.
Right now I'm on the Pure Velocity rom... loving it.
Omg..ok tried the method u posted with kozmik "stockish"..but got looped at boot... But the rom I was installing had an option to install an unsecured at&t stock boot image and that, of all things, did the trick. What u said made me think to try it.

So... after you got that going, were you then able to flash a rom with a custom kernel (all in one shot?)
Yes. After flashing the kozmik "stockish" kernel, then the custom rom, booting and getting as far as "android is upgrading" before boot looping I figured why not flash the entire thing again this time with the proper kernel and it went perfectly. I was using cwm5.5.0.4 for the record..which I'm told is still the best. My friend was happy, and I was just glad it worked this time..I was so confused why the Bell version wouldn't take the software..!
As always, I found the answer right here on XDA. Thanks again!

Question about flashing i717 roms

I tried to search and did not come up with the information I was looking for, but I was wondering what would be entailed in getting WiFi and vibration to work with the att note i717 ROMs. I flashed aocp the collective from the i717 by replacing boot.img and everything seemed fine except WiFi and vibration.
I tried replacing dhd.ko and vibrator.ko with ones from a T-Mobile ROM but that did nothing. Also if anyone has gotten those things to work what was done? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So i doubt we'll get a response but it this possible? I;m about ready to dump this phone and just take the hit and leave tmobile. I have never had as much issue with a phone just getting a stable release. Between terrible coverage to random restarts this phone is just coming off as what i expected from samsung.
It definitely seems like its a kernel issue, I think I'm gonna post a question over in the i717 forum, hopefully get a response. Some of those guys are using t879 ROMs and I wonder if they had similar issues with the WiFi and vibration? I haven't been able to dig anything up. I'm in the process of unpacking the kernel, I'm gonna try a few things and see if I can get this to work. Setting up the environment is taking a while.

Alright, I have finally got WIFI to work with i717 ROMS, now im just working on getting the vibration working. should be able to have that working here in a just a short while. afterwards i will do a write up for those that want to try it. definitely will give people more options for flashing roms.
The only rom i have tested with so far is the latest version of paranoid 2.56 for the i717, will try this method with others after i get vibration going. Other than those two things i have not noticed any other problems with flashing i717 ROMS.
Nice, well I have a device to test and break stuff on. I've given up on what we currently have available because everything I've tested in the last month just turns to **** after a week.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T-879 using Tapatalk 2
wifi and vibration are now working. I posted a thread in the development section. The fix is bundled into a flash-able zip file for flashing in recovery!
Will this work on tw based roms?
The only thing you should have to do is pull the boot.img and replace with a boot.img from a T-Mobile tw based ROM. I tried doing just that on black star over in the i717 forum and it worked fine, I ran it for a few hours before switching back to jelly bean and I didn't notice any problems with the ROM.

I tried to replacing boot.img but i couldn't.
I'm gessing that they've been blocking.
Anybody sucessfully replacing boot.img
Please let us know that how?
Thank you.

Our roms can be flashed back and forth. Just be rooted, have the latest twrp and flash the rom of your choice. Than flash the blaze ics modem.

[Q] In-Call volume control with CM10 on Vivid

I have installed the Official CM10 roms went it went "official", i am having trouble with the in-call volume? also the people on the other end can't hear me either?
Has anyone found a fix for this, it's driving me crazy. I like the CM10 Very much, but i can't use it without being able to hear. I keep going back to DarkRaider 1.5.5 which doesn't have any issues.

Do you know if it's a ROM issue, or a Kernel Issue? I've tried a couple of different Kernels with the CM10, and, i thought, it made a little difference? but not sure.

Yep, there is one out there called "Kernel usb fix cm10". there is another one Called " KangBang Kernel 2.0", there is one built into the PACman rom that can be Fastbooted.
Langbang isn't for JB as far as I'm aware.. and if so could you link me it.? And the USB fix was the default kernel home slice uploaded (I think)

The kangbang kernel is probably really old...back from when syn was working on cm10
And after that pretty much all the "jb" kernels are 99.9% the same...all based off the same source.

The real only differences are the OC. On USB fix one i can OC up to 1512, on the Kangbang 2.0 you can OC up to 2082? i think,
and on the PACman Boot.img you can OC up to 1728.

Are you saying you loaded Kangbang 2.0 on your phone with CM10 loaded? The reason I ask is the Kangbang 2.0 was based on ICS so not really setup for JB.

So can't someone compare what Syn had in his kernel to what we currently have and sort of combine them?
The Sultana kernel seems to be making quite a bit of progress, and a fix to the in-call volume is being worked on, but no success yet.
Keep an eye on CM10 development and Sultana development and you will get the fix as soon as they find one. That's what I am doing.

[Q] Confession: I flirted with Sense. Will you take me back CM??

I admit it! I cheated on you CM! There - it's out! Did it for weeks. Flashed and flashed all sorts of Sense custom ROMs and thought 'I'll never go back to CM!'. But, as always, I return to the master - will you forgive me?
However i need to know if you can offer this cos i can't quite tell from the current crop of CM related ROMs over whether this is available or not:
- HTC logo to access menu - I think this is in some of the custom CM ROMs maybe?? I just can't do with that horrible three dot menu thing - erkkkkk! - can this be removed in the current CM ROMs??
-Is there a downloadable custom kernel??
And CM - please forgive me - I shall never cheat again no matter what new dressed up Senseual comes along and flirts with me and shows a bit of leg. And you do know - I always come back ...
I did the same thing. I was on stock ROMs for a week. I couldn't take it any longer why even root its just like stock. Ran cm for 2 days but still missed AOKP then saw it when official and I was all over it.
I've been on AOKP now for 24hrs and I'm never going back to stock ROMs.
This is by far the best ROM I've ran on a phone

Screen Sensitivity MOD credit Team Venum

All credit goes to Team Venum for this mod. I just found this and wanted to share. It works perfectly for our HTC One's especially if you want to run an AOSP, CM, AOKP... Etc. ROM with a screen protector when the home and back buttons don't work. Tried this out after installing GlassTr Screen Protector and required the most recent kernel that hasn't been released to developers yet.........

Where did Venum say it works with any device? He did this for the Optimus G running stock roms, not any sprint device. Im not sure about all those files in the zip but this being for another OEM device I wouldnt flash it till Venum confirms those are stock android files and not device specific, on sense based stuff of course.

He didn't say anywhere that it would work. I just got bored and decided to give it a try. Was tired of not being able to flash aosp Roms because of my screen protector.
Now if you have any .02 please do tell and let people know. I'm just stating it worked for me and I'm pleased.
Working just fine for me but I have noticed a significant battery drain because of it.
