Dear,
if you dont touch nothing by default dpu extension files gives you that. For example if you had a old backup just backup does a small update backup as in this screenshot.

Great concept. Got to understand the thing.
will it change the previous backup? can we still restore?
Does it have the same bug as the previous one that was corrupting cache partition?

This is further to my quoted post.
I made two backups of my ROM.
The first one to external card (I am on stock v20h modded by Flix) where I had previously two full backups stored - made with regular CWM. Out of the two full backups - one is of the default FROYO ROM when I bought the phone and another is of some other Custom ROM not related to v20h. Now this CWM made a backup of only 28+ mb.
The second backup I made to internal card where previously no CWM Backup existed. But again the v20h backup created by this CWM 6 (touch) which is only for 28+mb.
Its very good since so little space is being taken. But wherefrom CWM is taking its reference as the main backup on which this incremental backup is created?
I have no problems with this but only for the sake of curiosity I am wanting to know the details of this great concept.
I have still not tried RESTORE. I will try that from the backup created in my internal memory of only 28+mb and report back.

Its use the sdcard/clockworckmod/blobs files to check and recover if an error appears so its better to get all the backups in your sdcard, i´´ never use internal memory for do backups, and like you said its take that as reference from the blobs

Thanks. Now I understand. Once it stores all necessary information in "BLOBS" folder (which is of 790+mb in my case) and makes backups of <30mb each time I backup a installed ROM. Good one.
Tested it now, everything works perfect.

Latelly I upgraded to DjangoManouche x1.3 and since then all the CWM backups are currupted (bad MD5).
CWM say also that it can't mount /cache/recovery/.... and so.
I use CWM 6.0.2.5 for backups.
Any idea what should I do?

Nope, doesn't work.
I've got some time to try to backup my apps with Titanium first.
Then, used AIOT to do revert to old BL then revert to new BL. Trying to use older versions of CWM and so on. But no luck. When using GjangoManouche x1.2.1 everything is OK when verifying MD5 and able to restore but not with DM x1.3.
Tryed many times with many config combinaisons.
What can cause this? I'm alone or it happen to others too?
Any feedback apreciated.
Forgot to say : I can't do a NVFlash Backup too from AOIT.
Any other tool to FULLY backup my Phone like CWM do?.
Ok guys, I found a solution for my problems.
Just before to do a backup, I must wipe the cache!...
Hi All,
Totally new to the site.. was looking around for an answer but no much luck.
So question is how does backup ta works. I rooted the phone, and used the tool and now it has a backup. which is only 177kb
And does this mean that, later if i decide to go back to the stock rom, I can just recover from this backup ?
Thanks heaps for your help

Compressed it can be 177KB, but that can be different per backup since the actual content isn't static. Extract the ZIP and check the size of TA.img, it should be 2MB (2048KB) round. Next time you better ask it in the Backup TA thread. Only read this one by coincidence .

Since late November of last year my N900A has been running stock OS (Android 4.3) but is rooted via RDLV and soon after did the OTA update to MJ5.
I would like to start experimenting with Xposed modules but I would like to make a complete backup of my device just in case something goes wrong. Since our bootloader is still locked and and we cannot install Clockworkmod Recovery or TeamWin Recovery Project, what are my other options?
Thank you in advance.

Do you know if this is useful for stock ROM? Let's say I'm playing around with risky apps, before I use them, I could make a backup with Safestrap?
I'm a little confused about with all the custom ROM speak in the developers thread

Because the backup I just made (I went ahead and installed Safestrap, made a backup) is stored in the same place as the sytem, and if my phone were to become corrupt, that backup would no longer be available?

If I wanted to then I could find that backup file, store it on my computer, and if it ever comes down to needing it, go out and buy an external and go from there? I assume Safestrap needs to be installed on the external sdcard, or just the backup file?
Thanks again for your help

Depends on which TWRP you are using.
The one from suhas.holla seems to have some problems while adrianom claims to have fixed it.
just use this one - https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0B0AbMwIJ-N7xM25CdjlQOUl2Qlk/edit
It's the previous version. This one is relatively bugless except it only backs up to external sd

Hey :good:
Ive got some questions and hope somebody can help me here!
I've got TWRP 3.3.1-46 installed.
I can backup the boot, recovery, system image and vendor image without any problems. However, when backing up the data, I keep getting "createTarFork()" with error 255. I have been searching on google for some time, but have not found the right solution. Has anyone had the problem with MI9 before?
Furthermore I use "titatnium backup" with the pro version to backup the apps. But since a few months I have a lot of problems with this apps too. During the restore the app hangs or the apps are not restored and I have to intervene manually again and again (out of 120apps this concerns about 30). Does anyone have a good alternative?
thank you so much!

1 I've had the same, you can find the problem in twrp log. For me it was the empty folder data pre_boot. Deleted and ok.
2. I've the same prob. Some apps didn't restore, only if you installed first manually the app and then restore is working.

You'll need to use a file explorer with root privileges to go to the /data folder, keep in mind.
Maybe twrp explorer could do it as well?

that would be good yes. I cant find a folder that name is "pre_boot"?
1) The official TWRP version for Mi 9 is 3.3.1-0, based on last version of Mauronofrio 3.3.1-52. So I suggest to first migrate onto the current version and to try again.
2) Many problems have been reported for Titanium Backup. I'm using Swift Backup instead without any issues so far.

I've been using Swift for quite some time and it certainly lives up to it's name. It backs up so fast compared to TB that at first you assume it can't be working right. I've never had a problem with backup/restores and the UI, especially in dark mode, is great. It will also easily backup sms messages, call logs, wallpapers and wifi settings.
Can't recommend this highly enough.
sooo guys!
ive tested swift backup and it works like charm! awesome no errors or problems. Bought premium directly.

Swift backup is really good, but I need to restore sometimes system apps and so I've to be with titanium. Also I'm using freezing apps and other things which aren't possible with swift backup.
