Anybody try this out yet? I won't be able to try it until the weekend, but I was just wondering about a couple of things.
First, did they fix the issue when you turn on your device and swipe down the notification bar from the lockscreen it shows your messages (if you have any) and the standard stuff? I know sometimes when you swiped it down it was just blank and showed nothing. This is a minor bug, but I was curious if anybody has noticed that this has been fixed for stable.
Second, did they finally add a File Manager? Not a huge issue, but it was handy from time to time.

I installed this ROM and "gapps-ics-20120304-signed.zip". Google play, gmail etc. run without problems. So try install ROM with full wipe again.

I have just received SMS and it appears at notification bar - of course unread messages. If you open this message, it will disappear

Updated Changelog
2.1.1
- Fixed bug where notifications were not clearing properly.
2.1
- Added Preferences panel for enabling and disabling different notification features
- Automatically detect and disable itself for MyTouch/Magic/Sapphire devices (should eliminate FCs)
- compatible with ROMs with modified build.prop files
2.0.3
- Fix for multiple notifications. Should properly keep track of existing and any new notifications when clearing (especially for Google Talk)
- smaller footprint
2.0.2
- Major fix for length of LED notifications. Should blink until phone gets plugged in or until you accept them.
- reordered versions for clarity.
2.0.1
- Added Trackball notifications to light Green LEDS (should work for SMS, missed calls, voicemails, etc. Make sure to enable in Settings/Sound and Display)
- Added additional color information from Missed Call LEDS.
- Logging enhancements to capture information while plugged in
2.0
- Original release
Install information - add "-r" to adb install command to overwrite previous release. Reboot and you're good to go.
This will be the final build for this app. There's a few ROMs available with custom build.prop settings that will automatically enable the LEDs for almost all of the Hero functions. For the notifications it doesn't do, this app will intercept those notifications and light up the normal LEDs on G1 devices.
It will no longer constantly FC on MyTouch/Magic/Ion/Sapphire users, but it will no longer run as well since it is not needed for those systems (afaik).
By default, the only setting that is enabled is the Hero notifications. You will have to launch the preference application that is now included and turn on both the Charging LEDs and the normal notification LEDs if they aren't automatically being lit already. A reboot isn't required to start if you launch the preference app.
Credits - Shafty for the hard work (as well as a dozen others), jinx for the scheduling program, and manup for the icon.
So, try it out and see if it works if you're interested.
Tried to install this, but didnt see an APK. Where is it?
Awesome, when do you think the final version will be released?
It installed fine but once it did I couldn't find the app?

I'm confused. How did you install it?
Strange... I opened the file on download instead of saving the zip, and there it was. Rebooting now.
Ok, this is the winner. Everything works perfectly!!! Finally true LED support for Hero on the G1. Amazing.
I unzipped the .apk, mounted my phone and put it into the root folder, than installed through ASTRO and it installed just fine. After I rebooted it's not appearing in my apps anywhere. What did I do wrong? I did not have any prior HeroLED app on my phone prior to installing this. It appears in my apps when I got into Settings>Applications>Manage Applications. It's not appearing in the actual app menu though. Help?
Hey, how can I remove my old existing HeroLED.apk? In Manage Apps I'm only able to stop the process but remove button is inactive!? My Device is a HTC Magic (Vodafone Germany).

There's no app for this one (yet). Everything is done automatically after boot.

Sounds like its hung. You may have to remove it manually. Check either in /data/app or /data/app_s. Remove a file there called HeroLED.apk then reboot. Then you should be able to remove it normally.

Its pretty close to final as it is. The only things still left undetermined is MT3G support and how well it performs after the phone 'goes to sleep.'
Those are the only things I anticipate to do some final tweaking for. I've been using it for the better part of 2 weeks, and I can't tell the difference between BFS issues and my app issues; so I'm posting it here for extended evaluation.

Thank you for clearing that up. After I restarted and didn't see it in the app tray I was afraid it was a bad install.
Just to be sure, this works with jac-heroski 2.2b or a?Ill want to get a g1 i currently dont have any android phones yet.
The only problem...
The only problem I have with this is that it doesn't flash for new text messages, is it just me or is this already known?
P.s. I tried using Missed Call, but all the LED's come out red.

It should for any Hero rom, provided there isn't a led app already installed.

If text messages are configured to flash the leds, it should. The color is picked depending on what the app is configured for.
Post or send me a logcat when those messages are coming in. Its possible its using a flag my app isn't configured for.
I'll do that but could you tell me how to do logcat, I don't know how
Connect via usb and if you have the android SDK run adb logcat and direct the output to a file.
Prior to that make sure under Settings/Sound and Display/Notification Flash that the items are checked off.
I may have a fix for this I'll be uploading shortly, just need some confirmations.
I'm an idiot...
nevermind I read what you said wrong, but adb says that it can't make output file read-only file system

Hello...as many other i try to find a working solution to get notification working with "button light" ...
i try a lot of apps ..for example "iled, led blinker, noled..and many others ...also i try LG Touch LED Notifications which is pretty cool but does not work as expected ..for my P700 device ...
now i finally found a working "LED Notification app" .. but unfortunally it notify only missing calls and sms..however ..its real small application ..does not use that much battery ...for everyone who would give it a shot ...get it from the market ..
***s://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.kreijack.xled&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImV1LmtyZWlqYWNrLnhsZWQiXQ..
or simply search for "xled"
As far as i can see it is open source and allowed to modify ...maybe someone could implement such features of "google talk, whatsapps" etc. notification features????
For the moment i use "xled" for incoming calls and sms ... for all other notification i use "flashme" which also not bad ...if you use the flashlight as notification with a transparent silicon cover for you phone it give a pretty cool effect
I found that the developer of xled provides a newer version that the one which is avialble at the market...
The package was renamed to xled2 ..download from:
http://cassiopea.homelinux.net/android/XLed/
New features are the following:
1. Select Timeframe where the service should run
2. Select Button Light Driver
I use the LG P500 Button on-off driver
I'm very interested about this, i also had the idea a month ago, but i didn't went deeper about
That would be great if it would work with whatsapp or general android notifies

i´m playing around once more with LG Touch LED Notifications
and i´ve notice that with the version below ...everthing works as expected ...
http://martinborjesson.com/android/LGNotifications-1.2.1.apk
But it´s only working without any issue if i disable my "lockscreen" ...
Don´t know what it is ...i use minimal lockscreen from market .. i now try some other lockscreen ...
R: LG P700 Notification LED
You van try a trick to restore aosp lockscreen: with a file manager for example root explorer, change the name of the screenlock .apk file to apk.bak or what you want and you'll get the default lock screen,

The only think is that the light of the keys seems dimmer, but it may be just an impression.

Since using cm10 ..LG LED .. is fully working for me... the only issue is that the feedback mode "constant" does not work..which is bad because blinking uses much more battery ...
but with feddback mode "non fading pulse" everything works well... sms call google talk whatsapp
Hi ..
for anyone how would like to give it a shoot ...(if LG LED notification is not working for you)
try
ButtonLED
Setup using "/sys/devices/platform/pmic-leds/leds/button-blacklight/brightness", this is the file that autodiscover suggest to use.
First test only missing calls works for me, so i played around with this tool and notice that i receive every notification if i setup
Turn LED on for : 1s
Then turn it off for : 0s
Permanent Notification : on
This tool capture every notification which is send to statusbar, so don´t forget to enable it in accessibility settings.
To save battery "set up exception" so you cutoff messages you don´t care about.
Hi again...
here is another notification program i tested...works good and is easy to setup.
Only thing you should be aware of is to disable lock screen testing inside the program settings...
Missed Message Flasher
There is also a free version you should test first. But the free version there is limited to a few app notifications
Missed Message Flasher Free
It was great going to try
any news on this? whatsapp notifications still not working
thanks
im going to try the LG notifications 1.2.1 on slim bean
Does this work on an unrooted lg p700?

Hello all !
I had the "Maps" icon in the bottom dock bar. Yesterday, there is the V7.0 update of Google Maps. After the update (via Play, not apk), the icon is gone in the bottom bar, and is neither in the application roaster. Sense seems to beleive that the icon is still in the dock (and so it don't appears in the roaster), but it is not.
But the application IS in the phone : I can see it in android application list, and I can invoke it by a search "Maps" in phone in Google Now.. (not very handy, but this works), and it works perfectly.
Anyone has this problem too ? How can I manage it ?
Thanks for your support
Note : I'm with stock 4.1.1 sense/android (4.2.2 not available yet in France..). Not rooted.

This works !! The icon is back in roaster, and I can put it back in dock bar. Thanks a lot, I should have guessed this myself.
But I have one last weird thing : when I select an address in the contact list, Maps used to launch (or appears as a proposed application) to show the address in a map. Since 7.0 (even after restart), Maps don't shows in applications proposed to show the address (I have Navigon etc.. but not Maps..). Is this normal ?
The restarting doesn't seem to help for me. Any other way to get the icon back?

I did. It may be that restarting will not work for me because i changed the box in which the icon resided since I didn't notice at first :\.
Restarting worked for me. It pops back up at the end of the app drawer. Weird. My buddy with a Note 2 didn't have this problem, so maybe a Sense bug?
Maybe try uninstalling (updates) and then letting it update again?
Hello all,
Just updated my Vodafone P9+ to L09C02B334.
Everything works great with a big exception.
The first WhatsApp notification does not turn the screen on with phone locked. The second message does.
I also updated to the latest beta but no change.
Tried also giving priority to WA notification but no change.
The only thing that always turns on the screen is enabling the pop-up notification from within WA settings but i totally hate it.
Anyone else has the same issue?
Thoughts?
Thanks

its bad !!!
Same for me.
Blame Whatsapp for the issue. They have to update.
Same poblem here with my p9 lite!
Would enabling all app permissions in the App Info for Whatsapp work? App Info > Permissions
Maybe can try the notifications permission at App Info > Notifications
Try it if it works.
Aside from that, probably check on the Settings > Battery > Close app after screen lock option and check to see Whatsapp are unchecked.
Try and see.
Device: Redmi Note 10 5G
Firmware: MIUI Global v12.5.3(RKSMIXM)
After the update to the latest firmware, I'm noticing that a lot of my notifications aren't playing sound when they should be. They all have sound enabled in their respective app settings, and the issue seems to only happen some of the time. I've found that I can get them working semi-consistently if I go into the app settings, tap the sound (which is already set correctly), choose "Pre-Installed Ringtones" in the Themes app, and then hit Apply next to the sound file I want to use. Notifications received after doing this seem to work correctly (i.e. play sound) for a while, but then they stop a short time later.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the MIUI Themes app itself, as one app on my phone, Signal, doesn't bring up the Themes app when I go to select the notification sound, instead bringing up a ringtone picker app I found on the play store. Honestly, I hate the Themes app's layout anyway, and wish I could use the other app to choose all notification sounds, but that doesn't seem to be an option.
If anyone else has experienced this issue and/or has any suggestions to fix, I'd appreciate it.
i dont have this bug. try reinstall via software update the full firmware, by the function "download latest package". it's safe, no data loss, and this procedure (that i made mee to) speed up the system

I tried this, unfortunately no change. Multiple notifications still come up with just vibration, despite the sound being enabled and selected. If I go back through and re-select the sound, it works for a while, but will randomly stop a short while later

Yes, all other sounds seem to work. Ringtones for calls, alarms, media sounds seem to have no issues.
I'll give a specific example: I set the notification sound for Google Voice messages yesterday afternoon. It seemed to work for the rest of the day. Today, I see the notification pop up, but never heard the sound. It's very annoying, so unlikely that I missed it. I checked the settings without changing them, everything is still set correctly.
My suspicion at this point, after having done a bunch of research on how the ringtone picker intent is handled, is that the MIUI settings customization is somehow failing. I believe the notification sounds are stored in the Android settings package, but MIUI has taken over those parts, and somehow that is failing, but I'm not able to dig deeper since MIUI seems to be closed source. Granted, I'm not a dev, and know just enough Java to muddle my way through interpreting and understanding code, so my guess could be totally off.
have you tried remove miui battery optimization from the app that have this problem? and set remove all limitation? sometimes cause notifications issues. also try disable mi notifications app, use only android notification

I removed battery opti.ization from all those apps awhile ago.
As for the Mi notifications app, are you referring to this?
the hest thing u can do is a new clean installation but first u can try change some setttings. but i'm not sure, it's only an ideai. example: open WhatsApp info, and in battery option set remove all limitations instead off miui optimizations. if the priblem don't go away, i think that an update caused this bug so downgrade your firmware to the latest bugless is the better solution. but first u can try modify some setting... or remove the update from sone syatem app if it's possible your bug is particular
I faced the same problem. I use tasker and have one profile that changes the ringtone when connected to office WIFI
it works but then it sort of stops all notification sounds.
Earlier I thought this is some phone setting issue but when i disabled the profile from tasker my notifications are intact.
Probably something to do with theme app.
