Hello all !
I had the "Maps" icon in the bottom dock bar. Yesterday, there is the V7.0 update of Google Maps. After the update (via Play, not apk), the icon is gone in the bottom bar, and is neither in the application roaster. Sense seems to beleive that the icon is still in the dock (and so it don't appears in the roaster), but it is not.
But the application IS in the phone : I can see it in android application list, and I can invoke it by a search "Maps" in phone in Google Now.. (not very handy, but this works), and it works perfectly.
Anyone has this problem too ? How can I manage it ?
Thanks for your support
Note : I'm with stock 4.1.1 sense/android (4.2.2 not available yet in France..). Not rooted.

This works !! The icon is back in roaster, and I can put it back in dock bar. Thanks a lot, I should have guessed this myself.
But I have one last weird thing : when I select an address in the contact list, Maps used to launch (or appears as a proposed application) to show the address in a map. Since 7.0 (even after restart), Maps don't shows in applications proposed to show the address (I have Navigon etc.. but not Maps..). Is this normal ?
The restarting doesn't seem to help for me. Any other way to get the icon back?

I did. It may be that restarting will not work for me because i changed the box in which the icon resided since I didn't notice at first :\.
Restarting worked for me. It pops back up at the end of the app drawer. Weird. My buddy with a Note 2 didn't have this problem, so maybe a Sense bug?
Maybe try uninstalling (updates) and then letting it update again?

I hadn't used that widget, and have no reason to install it, but after reading this I tried it, and it performed just as you described for me as well. Latitude itself works fine, and is launched when I touch the check box, but the widget doesn't ever display anything other than a blank box and a "busy" circle in the upper right corner.

I have had the widget installed since the day I got it (7/14) and it's never worked for me either. Latitude itself works fine though.
Anybody try this out yet? I won't be able to try it until the weekend, but I was just wondering about a couple of things.
First, did they fix the issue when you turn on your device and swipe down the notification bar from the lockscreen it shows your messages (if you have any) and the standard stuff? I know sometimes when you swiped it down it was just blank and showed nothing. This is a minor bug, but I was curious if anybody has noticed that this has been fixed for stable.
Second, did they finally add a File Manager? Not a huge issue, but it was handy from time to time.

I installed this ROM and "gapps-ics-20120304-signed.zip". Google play, gmail etc. run without problems. So try install ROM with full wipe again.

I have just received SMS and it appears at notification bar - of course unread messages. If you open this message, it will disappear
So I have no access to WiFi unless it comes from this damn phone.
I don't know what this notification is all about but it's irritating the living hell out of me and it won't go away.
I have no WiFi network available to connect to and besides I have unlimited data and I don't want ANYTHING requiring WiFi
How the hell do I fix this before I lose my freakin mind?
Long press on the notification and select app info to see which app is requesting a dictionary update.
Some apps like the Google Play Store and Amazon App Store have settings that will not update apps above a certain size unless you are on WiFi. Disable that setting or set it to a higher limit.
If you find out what app is causing it, look in that apps settings for a similar wifi limit.
My Droid Turbo is doing the same thing the app info points to download manager....system application! UGH!!!
Same here, I even connected my Turbo to my work's WiFi and updated it and still I am getting this notification.

Maybe a fix for y'all
Try going into settings, language and input, click on the 3 bars to right of goggle keyboard. Select text correction. Then select add on dictionaries. I had to click on each language till i found ones i don't use and deleted. Also found one with blue bar trying to update. I was able to click on it then selected cancel. . I clicked on it second time and selected delete. So far has worked for me been about 14 hours since did that.
I also had this happen today. When I got home it downloaded and too about 2 seconds.

This did not work for me although it did lead me to the discovery of several dictionaries I have no intention of using that showed 'installed'. I was able to "delete" those dictionaries but they still show on the list as "available." Right now the only dictionary showing 'installed' is "English" but I see no indication that it's attempting to update, i.e. there is no progress bar or visual difference between it and the others on the list.
Disabling notifications for Download Manager obviously does get rid of the notification area icon but is an imperfect solution as, usually, I do want notifications from Download Manager. Anyone come up with something else that's working?
doesn't work

Unfortunately, it is a coincidence that it works for Google keyboard. The problem still exists for my phone and I don't use the Google keyboard only the Samsung one.
Go to Language and Input then Voice Search.
Click Offline Speech Recognition, then Auto-Update.
Change it to Auto-update languages at any time, instead of Wi-Fi
Then go to Text-to-speech output,
Click the Settings icon (looks like volume sliders)
Click Settings for Google Text-to-speech Engine
Turn off Use Wi-Fi only
Hi,
Still running the official CN version.
Just received the official MIUI 12.5.3 OTA update. Installed flawlessly.
When scanning through settings, I tried to change my wallpaper to either my own picture, or to a pre-installed one and unfortunately it doesn't work.
In the preview frame, it shows the picture I have selected on the Home Screen, but always shows a black screen for the Lock Screen.
When exiting the settings page, I just have a black screen on the Home Screen as well as on the Lock Screen.
I only managed to get a picture on both of them, if I select a Live Wallpaper. Then I have it on both screens. It also works with a third party Wallpaper Changer, where I select my own pictures, but again, I cannot select a fixed Lockscreen picture which after selection turns into a black screen only.
In addition, the setting (on the same page) for changing the Unlock Animation is completely missing.
I tried already all kind of things, rebooting several times, without success.
I guess it is a bug, but wanted to ask if someone has encountered a similar issue on the original China ROM?
Does the google play store services work on your device after update? I've got mine downloaded, but delayed the update until this is clear is it safe to update.

Same happened to me. I'm in the Uk.
Maybe they stopped the rollout.
Another issue I found is that when using the gesture mode to open up the Recent Files, it still shows the old style, where to terminate an app is done by swiping left or right, not as shown in some videos, where you need to swipe up.
It also doesn't show how much Ram is used/free.

Could be of those issues. Let's wait..
hi, I'm trying to enable the "hide app" of ColorOS 11 on my Oppo Find X3 Pro (global).
I can correctly select apps to hide, set up the access code (for example #1234#), but after that the apps are still visible on drawer and homeage. And if I digit the access code on the launcher, nothing happens. I suspect the features is not working because I have google dialer and not the oppo one so maybe the feature to manage the access code is not implemented there.
Do you have any clue on how to fix this? or does the "hide app" works in your phone?
This moment...when you are trying to hide Tinder from your GF ◉‿◉
Just kidding ofc xD
On my phone it works flawlessly - i have an oppo dialer.

Hi. Did your phone come with oppo dialer?
actually it was my fault... I forgot the golden rule of IT
Just rebooting the phone (I didn't reboot after activating the hide app feature, but it was not specified in the instructions) made the hide app feature work.
The only minor glitch is that on google dialer, after I enter the access code #xyz# and the hidden app menu opens, next time I open the dialer it still has the access code visibile and I have to manually delete it.

Reboot in my case was not neccessary...but turn off/turn on is first golden action in IT ᕙ( • ‿ • )ᕗ
actually this problem is not solved. After each reboot it works flawlessy, but after some time (maybe 1/2 day; I don't know exactly) it stops working. When I enter the access code on dialer, nothing happens, until next reboot. I suspect the issue is related to ColorOS policy to kill/suspend apps (maybe the one that manage hidden apps is suspended), but didn't found any way to fix this issue. Do you have any clue?

Sorry to hear that.
I suggest removing google dialer temporarily to check whether it is an issue with the firmware or google dialer.
After that let us know.
Btw. Have u installed google dialer during phone initial setup or after?
As a workaround I suggest using external app to hide applications - they worked great for me before. Just use google play store and search for "Hide App"

actually google dialer is the default one from factory, I don't have oppo dialer (and I don't think I can even install it being a system app). From what I understood, the fact that some unit have oppo dialer and others (like mine) google dialer depends on the region. My unit is an european one (italian).
I will try external app, thanks for your suggestion.

So I finally got the update for ColorOS 11 on my Oppo Find X2 Pro yesterday and so far I like it. However, there is no way to auto-hide the navigation buttons.
I've tried navigation gestures but just cannot get used to them (I will try again some time I promise), so I'm back to my trusty navigation buttons. However, unlike ColorOS 7,i cannot find the option to automatically hide (or press a button to hide) these when in apps, etc. so I now can't have a full screen experience.
Has anyone found how to do this yet?

hide apps milestoneapply :
Long-tap on any empty space on your home screen.
In the bottom right corner, tap the button for home screen settings.
Scroll down on that menu and tap "Hide apps."
In the menu that pops up, select any apps you want to hide, then tap "Apply."
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, our R&D Team has already started working on it to get this issue fixed. Rest, please be assured this issue will get resolved in next software update.
However, until then, you may also try alternative way for accessing the hidden apps by following below steps:
1. Device Settings > Fingerprint > Fingerprint for hidden apps quick-start
2. Select any registered finger (best option to use rarely used finger to unlock the device so that it won't open every time)
We thank you for patience and understanding.
