SetCPU profiles for Nexus 7 - Nexus 7 General

Everybody care to share your profiles setting used for your Nexus 7 and may be explain how it might have benefited you?

As James pointed out, the 5th Slave core is Transparent and not visible to Android, so it 'shouldn't' be effected by SetCpu

I use Motleys kernel and CPU master or system tuner. System tuner for sure if you're going to modify voltages at all.

Zio Overclocking Question

Well iv had my Zio for a few months now and even with the 2.2 Update sometimes it seems to slow down and stutter.
I have been doing some research on Rooting my phone to get wifi tethering and the ability overclock my phone for better performance.
Now so far the Zio community on here seems to be very small so i dont expect an answer very fast so here is my question.
Has anyone with a Zio Managed to root there phone and overclock it? im not talking about some CRAZY overclock. im thinking in the 50-100MHz range. if so how has the performance increased? or has the performance Decreased? how is the battery life?
I have attempted such by manually editing some CPU files. I was able to successfully adjust the governor and changed from the stock 95% to 100% CPU threashold.
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
So far I would say its a little faster. I definitely see a difference when opening apps and especially with the 2.3 launcher from the market.

If your phone is rooted you can use a number of overclock apps, but they use parameters based on te phone the zip is 122.88 to 600 mhz

What were your exact editing lines? I forgot which thread it was where you answered this question before.
I basically changed the governor to performance and threashold too 100. Actually overclocking the ZIO is giving me trouble when I try to go higher than 600000

Correction. Governor must be set to on demand to edit the threashold.

You wont be able to get true over clocking until theres been kernel source released. Has that happened yet? New to this device.
If so, and someone is willing to do something with adb, I can work on getting an overclock kernel for you guys, but I wont be able to test it myself so it could be a bit dangerous.
As long as it isn't clocked any faster than 6.5 or 7... 7 would be risky.
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
You cannot over clock the Zio at the moment. The Kernel does not support it. You can use an app to set it to 600mhz all the time. It usually stays at 600mhz on its on.

which is why I said if we had kernel source, I would work on it for you guys. Keep an eye out for it.
Once we ave source, if one of you can pull your current config for me, which i'll explain once its available, it shouldn't be too hard to clock up a little.

There is a overclock widget available that works great. When screen is locked it downclocks to what ever you set it too. Once unlocked it goes to 600 MHz.

but im gonna try and bump that 600 number up a little bit. Just need source code.
Tried to overclock witb droid. Fixed some permissions with clockwork it opened and ran just like setcpu. The app said the overclock module couldn't be opened because my device wasn't listed. Obviously.
Kyo M6000 Rooted with NoAds or Bloatware.
yeah the module is gonna be device specific.
I can't wait to see what this phone can do overclocked!
I had the Droid Incredible, iPhone 3G and neither could play the videos that I encoded for the ZIO without stuttering. The ZIO is playing the video files without stuttering with default player!
MP4/H.264/AVC/AAC LC
Video
800x480/4:3/29.97/1536
Audio
48100/2/160
I was just testing these settings on full movies just to see how bad the ZIO would stutter, to my surprise it played those as if it wanted more!
I will not keep those settings, as a full movie is over 1.5GB!
I might keep the video settings and use different audio settings, because the quality of the videos kick major butt!
I will be the beta tester for your Overclocking kernel option94!
I think it would do 750Mhz no problems, which would make this phone a beast! I wonder what the video sub system is in this unit?

There is also system tuner. And CPU Master, from antutu.
Cm7 has a built in overclock function, may not work with all kernels though.

I prefer either System Tuner or ROM Toolbox. Both are worth donating a few bucks to get the pro versions. Allows you to do a lot of customization to your ROM. I don't tweak anything on my Touchpad other than CPU, but works great for my phone(s).
i came here because of the same problem i was having. I tried No frills as stated earlier, and it works great, my problem solved.

Xperia T overclock kernel discussion thread

Hey guys,
I'm going to make an OC kernel for Xperia T. Which featuress would you like to seen in the kernel?
Krabappel2548
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
Awesome dude, I was starting to get worried if I should have got the Sony Xperia T, due to slow development compared to other phones.
What feature i'm interested in is OCing the GPU higher just like other phones with the same SoC. I thought the Adreno 225 will handle games well for now but it seems it has a few lag on Asphalt 6, Nova 3, Batman and Spiderman etc, not like I play them all but it did lag. Along with a configurable GPU clock and undervolt, like the the Galaxy Nexus and S2/3.
Another one will be OCing the CPU to 2.1Ghz as most other same chip can get to, not like i'll overclock it, as there is no need really, the chip is already fast enough, but it be great to have that feature included as well. Plus undervolting as well.
Updating the linux kernel, remove all the crap in the kernel etc
Thats all for me
EDIT: Linaro would be good as well, as it seems to benefit to performance.
EDIT2: This Kernel is an good example what i'm talking about, be awesome if you could port his app interface with his permission of course, if everything goes well, I always donate quite a bit to support the developer (some motivation ).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871946
I would just want a better battery life. No need for more power for me or undervolting. If so, let the Kernel do it automaticly.
Is htis project still alive? jw since theres still no way to uv or oc looking into do it myself but im stillnoob at linux i would just want a way to oc to whatevers possible and same with uv
I too hope we get a better feature set, I/O schedulers and oc options,
I would like to see it set up so it boots with stock values and then tweaks can then be applied after. Also profiling would be useful, I know peetr played with some values to do with thermal throttling, would be good to see some use control for that!!! Kind of hoping that if this is not longer happening then maybe Doomlord will release one when his studies ease up a bit!

As far as I know it is currently not possible to implement OC/UC/UV or new schedulars or governors without a custom kernel, hence, with a locked bootloader you will not be able to achieve these effects.
It is possible, shardul did it for neo.
Theres also an elegant script in the thread for loading them.
Take the source of the module and compile it in the source tree of stock kernel , of course you will need root at least to copy the modules to system.

If anyone thinks oc "byes" your cpu, then ur hopeless. Any CPU is ahle to OC. And for ours, we may be able to reach 1GHz

Even if it's possible, not everyone knows that using 1000 mhz speed all day long will bring higher risks...
Imagine here are guys they're using the 1ghz clockspeed, playing games, etc. and have no clue what could happen...
I dont want to see how my ace is frying in my hands while i'm using it.
Well call people hopeless, cuz they are scared about it isn't kind. And yeah, every CPU is OC'able, but.. OC -> more use -> more heat -> needs more cooling..
PS: ACEi is frying in my hands, warranty is gone 150€ for nothing, k..

Okok. Now I understand you.
Before I release, I will undergo several tests. These all make sure a wonderful Overclock is given to you. I wont make a broken feature. Even if I did, the next builds would fix it. And theres only one issue I cant stop during OC. Thats Battery drain.

Nexus 7 Battery Saving Kernel *Need Testers*

i have compiled a nexus 7 kernel similar to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903304 but for 4.3 roms the main theory for this kernel is less heat and more battery (i was able to get 7 1/2 Hours SOT With 2 Days Standbye)
These Are The Features
1.vdd_core/vdd_rail ,emc, pll_c, host1x, GPU, CPU Pre Undervolted
2. CPU LP Overclocked To 666MHz
3. Speed of GPU 2d/3d/vde etc set at 400 mhz (close to stock of 416) (Also 228MHz GPU Step Decreased To 215MHz)
4. 1300MHz Quad Core Patch
5. Min Backlight Level 5
6. host1x Underclocked From 260MHz To 255MHz
7. Some MISC. Tweaks
8. FSYNC TOGGLE
Tell Me What Your feedback Before i make a thread in development section
it has Mkernel Ramdisk So it should boot on all roms ive only tested cm10.2 though (i will not be adding voltage control as i think this kernel has a good undervolt 75-100mv undervolt on all frequencies)
Enjoy

Not sure why you think we're being closed minded? Some people post on here claiming battery life of 11+ hours, so 7 might not be that good, alternatively you might've just increased from 7 initially to 7.5 now. Wouldn't be worth my time, given the problems I've had flashing kernels before, if the increase was hardly noticeable.
Doesn't hurt to look into stuff a bit more before we flash something completely new with little info.

Yeah but there's nothing as remote testing for a kernel. You have to try and see for yourself. All info lies in OP's post, anyway.
