1. use flash tool - click PADLOCK icon
or
2. use x8toolbox

the problem is that i used superoneclick and it stucks at a point where it says rageagainstthecage

how do i install
X8_drivers??

turn on usb debugging then use superoneclick, try newer version...if u'r using newer then use 2.1.1..it worked for me.....have u installed gordon't gate drivers?
if superoneclick 2.1.1 not working then install gordon gate drivers then use flashtool for root

no need for flash mode with x8toolbox, you just connect it without doing anything, with usb debuging on

What worked for me Bell I9000M JK4 or JL2 was to:
Disconnect Phone
Enable USB Debugging Mode
Shut Down Phone
Open SuperOneClick
Press ROOT
Wait until you see "Waiting for Device"
Connect Phone, wait for battery charging graphic
Turn On Phone
Let it do its thing, it should work all the way until you get SuperUser pushed to your device
If you get an USB error, try again from the start using another port
That's exactly what I did and had no problems. To get busybox installed, I opened titanium backup, clicked the "problems" button and let that app overall it.
has anyone found any other options to root other than SuperOneClick? I'm not sure if it's just my phone, but I start to get a lot of lag after using this to root...
For me, i just flashed speedmod inside the cwr there is a setting to root & install busybox

How do I get a root file for my Bell Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant GT-I9000m with android 2.2 Froyo.UGJL2. I tried rooting it but I can't find any root file. I think I accidentally reformatted my internal sdcard. Pls. help!
I am having trouble using SuperOneClick, but it seems to be different from problems that other people are getting. I read through and watched the video. Everything said it was ok, and it seemed like all worked. I even got the "superuser" application installed. The problem is that su doesn't seem to work. If I go to a terminal window and type "su", I get Permission Denied. When I go to Titanium it says there is a problem with root. I tried installing busybox, and upgrading superuser, however these fail.
I just got my phone back from Samsung and they replaced the motherboard, and obviously put the new sotfware on it, however it seems to be the same 2.2 OS that everybody is talking about "JL2"
Has anybody seen this? any idea what might be happening?
I was able to answer my own question. I was able to root my phone using SuperOneClick by choosing the radio button for rageagainstthecage, instead of psneuter.
I have heard of many ppl having issues with Superoneclick and antivirus software preventing it from working properly or straight out removing it from the pc. Disabling the av software when you unzip and use the superoneclick may help.

[Q] at&t Samsung Captivate 2.2 unlock without SIM

Hi All,
I am trying to unlock a brand new at&t locked samsung captivate. Details:
Model - Samsung-SGH-I897
Firmware - 2.2
Kernel - 2.6.32.9
Build - FROYO.UCKB2
I have the USB debugging enabled and *#7465625# gives me Network Lock [ON].
I don't have at&t sim so was trying to follow --> 1) This <-- and --> 2) This <-- and --> 3) This <--.
And just now tried --> 4) This too <-- and this is the farthest I have reached till now.
But I am facing problems.
1) When Generate_Code.bat is run it gives this:
Code:
Copy nv_data.bin
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
failed to copy '/efs/nv_data.bin' to './nv_data.bin': Permission denied
Extract code
2) When SuperOneClick is run and Root button is clicked then it halts at:
Rooting device... -Step #7 WaitForDevice 0.15s
and then it stops responding.
3) I have android-sdk-windows on my machine and its in the env path. When I do "adb shell" I get a "$" prompt. But when I do "su" it says "su: Not Found".
So I am not able to use this method too.
4) When followed the steps my phone rebooted and I can see the Android system recovery screen. I selected the "Reinstall Packages" from the menu but then it says:
E: Signature Verification Failed
Installation Aborted.
Click to collapse
So till now this is also not working. I am still looking.
Is there anything that I am missing? (I am still reading)
Is it possible to unlock 2.2 without root and without at&t sim?
Is it possible to root 2.2 with SuperOneClick with the default settings?
Thanks
I don't know anything about unlocking, but the errors you are getting are because you are not rooted. I would try another method for getting root and then try again.

Do you have USB debugging turned on?
I am still reading more about different methods to get root and will try it tonight and yes I have USB debugging on.
I was just wondering if I would be able to do it without getting root but if that is the only way, I will have to do that...!!
You need root to unlock your device. Current method which you are using (Super One Click) is unable to root your phone. Try another method, may be Galaxy S One Click root. I haven't rooted Stock Froyo (KB1 or KB2) so I'm not sure which method will surely work.
Once you are rooted, try again with unlocking methods. And yes, you should be able to unlock without AT&T SIM.
Now I have tried Captivate One Click Root also and this is the farthest I have gone till now. This link explains correctly but now when my phone reboots and I do a Reinstall Packages - it says
E:signature verification failed. Installation Aborted.

Problems with rooting

I followed dr ketan's guide to root my Note. When I ran the BAT file, it went until the following place and stopped:
--- STARTING ---
--- WAITING FOR DEVICE ---
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
Waited for about 15 minutes, but nothing happened. So I removed the cable, connected back and tried again. The bat file will now stop at the line:
--- STARTING ---
--- WAITING FOR DEVICE
Tried disconnecting and connecting again with the same result. What could have gone wrong?
I've installed Samsung Keys on PC and the kernel version is 2.6.35.7-N7000DDLA5-CL919506 [email protected] #2, if that makes any sense.
Did you enable allow unknown sources and also under development enable USB debugging? I am running ICS, so can't look it up exactly. Check that once if not then you may want to temporarily disable firewall etc to allow the script to finish.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I've enabled both. You think it may be a firewall settings problem? I don't have admin rights to change them in this computer.

My guide starts from page Rootable n Non rootable ROM.
Your ROM is LA5 which is nonrootable
If you have not downloaded my recent guide, just download it from last link on my signature, follow it. it will answer all your questions.

Sigh. I've always been bad at following guidelines.
It seems the only option is to downgrade first. Anyway having to stop the firewall and antivirus is also a problem coz I don't have access to a Windows machine with admin rights. Will see.
Thanks a lot!

back it up first. Then freeze it. Reboot. If all is well for a few days, you may then uninstall, I reckon, but you don't really need to as freezing is enough.

Looking to go AOSP from Stock KK [4.4.4]

Sooooooooooo,
I have a Z1 [C6903] that I picked up yesterday. It came with 14.2.A.1.136 Jellybean 4.3.
I wanted to
Unlock bootloader
Install custom recovery
Root
Install any nice AOSP ROM [preferably LP-based]
I installed the Minimal ADB-Fastboot 1.4.
I also installed the Flashtool 0.9.18.2.
I also installed the Z1 device, Fastboot, and Flashmode drivers [version 1.6.2] from the driver folder. It first failed, and then I disabled driver verification then everything went smooth!
Device manager recognized the phone in MTP and Fastboot, and Flashmode modes. Drivers installed correctly I presume.
Then the challenges arrive:
adb devices returned it as "offline"
Android studio couldn't push a project to it because it was offline
fastboot devices identified it, but fastboot -i 0x0fce getvar version returned an error [getvar:version FAILED (command write failed (Unknown error))]
Things I've tried to do to rectify the connectivity issue:
I'm using a SurfacePro 4 so I can't switch USB ports [only have one].
I've tried different cables - they yield the same result.
I've enabled and disabled USB debugging, revoked access, unplugged and replugged, rebooted, etc. Still no change in result.
Since the device had some OTA updates pending, I ran those and now i'm on 4.4.4 with 14.4.A.0.157, with some other updates currently waiting for me to accept so they can download. I've decided to post here for help and won't run those updates unless it increases my profit
PS: Even after the updates, adb and fastboot still are unchanged in their results.
Help please
Update:
It was a freaking USB cable. I had tried two of them. None had worked.
I finally unleashed my Anker USB cable and Boom! We good to go!!!
Thanks all!:highfive::highfive::highfive::highfive:

Excellent! I did that, too. even manually closed and restarted adb.exe to no avail.
The thing is, my Z1 DOES NOT show me the authorization pop-up! Ever!
I've done this a million times on other phones, and I know the procedure. It's just that this Z1 is not showing the authorization popup

This could problem with installing drivers as PC don't detect adb in debugging mode
So disable driver verification again and install drivers from flashtool remember to check
1. Fastboot drivers
2. Flashmode drivers
3. Xperia Z1 drivers
And restart
If the problem not fixed try adb universal drivers just Google it
I was have same problem with win 8.1 but I didn't all that I just installed win 7 and do it
Remember to backup ta before unlock to backup your DRM keys
