I wanted to upgrade to the safe 232, but seemed to have downloaded and installed the 235. Is there a safe way to go back to 232 from 235? Can I just go to 905 and start over or am I stuck??

Hey guys,
I'm new to android.. good riddance iPhone. I am a technically saavy I/T Guy and have already unrooted my captivate and figured out GPS and whatnot. However, I have scoured Google and can't find the answer to a simple question. "Do I need to unroot prior to the OTA JH7 update?"
Thanks for your help,
Trums

i dont think you'll need to unroot the phone but I *think* you'll lose your root once you update....please correct me if I'm wrong, though.

This is correct. All the apps will be there except superuser and the root will be gone.
I did this myself and after the update went ahead and wiped the phone (factory reset) anyway. I wanted to make sure I didn't have anything lingering..
thanks

Do you have still have the 12 MB file you got as a result of the OTA update. If so, can you upload it.

+1, please upload if available. I dont know why att just doesnt let us download it from the website.
sorry gents.. I don't have the file yet.. will upload when I get it.
You can always re-root afterwards...
Does the original root method work with jh7? I'm not really interested in the super rooter type all-in-ones.

+1 Would love to see the update uploaded for us here. I checked to see if mine would update, but unfortunately I guess I am not one of the luck first 15,000.

the update is simply JH7, JH7 has been available for most of us for over a week
grab it from samfirmware if you really want it now

That's where I got mine.. www.samfirmware.com
you will have to sign up for an account but its worth it.
You will have to flash using ODIN. Make sure you get the PIT file located at the bottom of the firmware page too..
Plus once you have the account, you can always flash newer firmwares when they come out...
I know about the leaked JH7. I am running it now. I am only interested in the official JH7 update file, just to compare the two versions.

I am not sure what happened but I just downloaded the update using the check for updates on the phone, it started to install, rebooted the phone then gave me this message:
"The update was not completed.
No update was applied to your phone"
my phone is rooted, lag fix, side load and I did not try to undo any of that stuff.

The same thing happened to me, but when I go my phone settings I show the following:
Baseband version:
1897UCJH7
So do we have to flash back to stock to get this upgrade?
I wasn't too hopeful that our rooted, lagfix-ed phones would play nice with the OTA anyway.

If ever your phone needs to have everything wiped back to complete stock, you'll want to obtain RSD Lite (newest version is 5.7) and a system FXZ file. 5.9.902 is the newest full FXZ available.

You can moto-fastboot the system.img or use rsdlite.
Next time, use safestrap.
Hi all. I've got two VZW LG G2s that are rooted, and the current KitKat update continues to download and fail. Is there any way to force the update?
VZW support suggests a factory reset and I dont' want to do that for sure.

Do you still have the stock recovery? You need it for this update to take.

If you need the stock recovery back, easiest thing to do is wipe the phone back to stock using the flashtool then let it take the OTA, you can re-root with ioroot25 afterwards and if you need TWRP, re-install it with AutoRec.

Most of it's listed in there. Use AutoRec to install TWRP, you can find it in the regular G2 Dev section.
Whenever i go to update it stops at 27% and fails. Im rooted I tried unrooting and doing it and still nothing, getting tired of it making me download the update every time too.

If you've ever rooted, you'll have to Odin back to stock before attempting to update. You can use this to go back to stock 4.4.4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2999317

I had the same problem. Used the method suggested by andygev35. Worked perfectly the first time and took about 20 minutes. I used the all in one no wipe .tar. Make sure you thank all those responsible for making all this possible! Good luck! :good:
