No Data - LG Optimus 4X HD

Bought an O4XHD had tmobile prepaid service and slipped the sim card in everything worked buy I couldn't live with the 2G speeds. I bought a go phone sim from att but they told me that I couldn't use their data service because it's an unlocked phone. Any work around? Thanks.

The At&t people are full of ****. I used one just fine. Just activate the sim and throw it in the phone will work no problem believe me.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

So if I go online or call and add the data package it should just work? Because when I did it initially they charged me $25 then offered me a refund because they said the data will not work. They then put the $25 in my account and said if I tried it again there would be no refund.

U just need a phone u can give them the imei for. U could just go online and add it manually. If that doesn't work u can always borrow somebody's dumb phone and give them the imei for that one and have them add the $10 a month unlimited data plan for feature phones and it should work like a charm

U could buy a $20 go phone from Walmart and call them to activate that and use the sim from it. Then you'll have a backup should the O4xhd go down.

Exhibit 4G on AT&T Medianet

So my wife and I have been using unlocked phones on our grandfathered AT&T medianet unlimited data plans for over two years now. About six months ago I bought her an Exhibit 4G and unlocked it to work on AT&T. Just recently she got the dreaded you need a data plan text message on her phone. So she got bumped to a 2GB data plan.
I'm not sure how AT&T caught on since it wasn't one of there phones and she doesn't really do much else besides check Facebook and text.
Anyone else using this on AT&T?
once you put a sim card into it, AT&T knows your using a phone on their network. so they wanted you to have a data plan, they sent the message to your number which is accociated with your sim card.

whats the closest resemblance to this phone on the verizon network?
Same thing happened to me...they put me on a 3GB plan automatically. Took them about 2 months to get me...

Just wondering...what kind of speeds you are getting on the AT&T network? I've played around with several APN settings I've found on here and none have improved my download speeds (always says 3G)...which are around 0.25 MBPS.
Spent some time on "chat" with ATT and am going ot try a new SIM card. Mine is an older one with 3G on it. I tried to get my plan changed (and I think this is the problem) to a LTE plan but the ATT rep couldn't get the "system" to accept the change for some reason.

[Q] HTC One and iPhone 5

Hey I have a sprint HTC One and im wondering if i trim my sim card and put it on a Sprint iPhone 5 would it work ? If it does can someone tell me.. I just want to swap phones whenever i want too
You have to call sprint in order to swap phones. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the SIM card is only for international uses. Not Sprint to Sprint

I don't think it works like that on sprint see the sim card is just to get on lte. I remember when I got my replacement HTC one the sim card stayed the same but in the system sprint said it didn't match the one they had on record so my phone wasn't connecting to LTE. After a quick call and putting the right numbers in I got LTE. So you would still need the phone to be active which involves calling sprint to do the swap

Yes. The phone uses the sim card to connect to LTE. That's the only reason it is there. Your phone number isn't attached to it like GSM. So swapping the sim card won't do anything.

[Q] Need some assistance on unlocking the T-mobile Xperia Z

I would like to get my unlock code as soon as possible when my Xperia Z comes in the mail, I did purchase the device out right on ebay, however, when I went to search for getting the unlock code, they say it can take up to 8 business days, I do not have a contract with T-mobile and I will be using it under Metro Pcs's new BYOD program, I've got no problem paying some to do it, but I would need it as quickly as possible once device is in hand, would anyone be able to assist me?
Thanks for your help and any apologies for the long winded question
I would say just find someone reputable on eBay with good feedback and buy unlock code I have experience with t-mobile and nothing's easy thru them plus when I got phones unlocked they made me have a certain amount of time using it before they will unlock it even paid in full my advice just skip them

Ebay buy one all u need to do is give ur IMEI then they sent u shortly ofter that ur unlock code I did that with every phone I had in the USA was relatively easy oh yeah u need a sim from a different provider so the simlock unlock code promt will show. T mobile is might the most easiest to get a code from of even but still not great go over ebay and just buy one.

I think I'll try my luck with tmobile first before I go and wait up to 10 business days for the code, I've never had to wait that long for one before.

Update!!! It works! I had to call the main number 888-863-8768 and ask for help activating a second time and this guy was smart. He needed to manually add the IMEI number to their database and immediately the phone connected. Speeds are the same as T-Mobile.

Can't make calls or send messages?

So I'm on omj's sense 5 Rom v1.1 and randomly I lost the ability to make calls or receive them and send or receive texts. I already tried ##72786# and resetting the device then reactivating. It was very random, last night I'm texting my girlfriend and now nothing? What do I do???

I've lost the option for roaming and many other settings that I am unable to click on. My phone lost service back around August 3rd and hasn't had any since Now that more folks are working with this phone, maybe a fix will be found.

Does anyone have any idea why this occurred? AT&T couldn't answer my question.

I bought an S5 from Craig's list. Before buying the phone, I asked the AT&T rep. How I could tell if the phone has good IMEI. She told me as long as I put the sim in and can make calls, I should be good.
So when it came to buying the phone, I put the sim and made few calls. I even had data. To double check, I checked the IMEI online and it was clean.
I even called AT&T to verify the IMEI and they said it was clean. I even registered it under my account.
Fast forward to 2 days later, my phone gets blocked from the network and AT&T tells me that the imei is bad.
The question is: what happened?
I think this was happening to T-Mobile users too. The Original owner just stop paying the Jump, Next, Flex, Fruit Salad, or whatever the hell AT&Ts upgrade program is called. Users phones were being blacklisted days later.
Sent from my SM-G900P using XDA Free mobile app
Att will only blacklist a phone that is reported lost or stolen. So what likely happened is after the person sold you the phone they reported it lost or stolen and filed an insurance claim. Did you happen to grab their license plate or any info that could identify them. Either way they either sold you a stolen phone or committed insurance fraud.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using XDA Free mobile app
This guy solves that dilemma. I don't condone buying stolen phones but if someone unknowingly buys a bad phone he can fix it in about 1 week turnaround and around $50.
For 50$ he must be doing IMEI changes cause no way in hell a motherboard from the s5 is 50$lol but hey do what you got to do. Some losers in this world like to do that bull****.
When I bought mine from Craigslist I had the guy remove it from his att account so he could not do what just happened to you.
yeah you can't get an s5 mobo for even what he charges. he is def flashing new IMEIs prob from old junk phones. sucks that every company blacklists for no bill pay now even when the phone has been active on someone elses line. next time call the company and see if the imei is currently tied to an account. pain in the booty but only way to be sure.
I have purchased many phones off eBay to repair and resell and have run into this many times. They report the phone lost or stolen after they ship it to you. At least on eBay you can open a case against them and get your money back. And sometimes you don't even have to ship the phone back! And now that the carriers are sharing blacklists the problem is compounded. I would be VERY wary about buying any phone less than two years old from Craigslist. I would make them show you a receipt for the phone paid in full or not buy it.
