Hey, I started using this ICS Rom (the AOKP version), comming from overcome
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697589
I have a major battery drain. Like 50% in 10 hours without using the tab. Any ideas how that can be?
Also is there a custom ICS Rom which is known for its good battery life?
Thanks.
CM9 drain off battery too fast too... Maybe ICS isn't optimized for our tab...
Yes, but that seems like a lot to me... I am thinking about switching back to Overcome, I cannot take my tab with me anymore with this battery consumption.

How should I do that? I mean, do I run the app and then simply leave some time?
EDIT: The tab does not go into deep sleep. Does that mean I have a wakelock? How can I find out, what is keeping the tab awake?

I don't know how I did it but the tab is now on 125 Mhz when I don't use it. However, CPU Spy says that it does not go into deep sleep. How can that be and what is the difference between deep sleep and simply going to the lowest CPU frequency?
Cm9 stable release without gapps install is giving me battery backup almost same as overcome.no more over heating, lags or bugs.perfect build.
nightly build cause overheating n fast drainage in my tab. however didnt try latest versions as after stable release i didnt flash any other rom.my main concern use to be battery life so always come back to gb.bt now 2.3 is outdated for me.

Run betterbatterystats for a few hour and post the screen capture here for kernel wake locks and partial wake locks.
Maybe we can help.
Saying less than 2% doesn't mean much.

If it us really NetworkStats, from my own experience, it was bad modem.
What is your baseband showing.
You may need to replace the modem.

how to replace modem?
We nail the problem then.
In the dev forum, there is a sticky thread called modems.
Get one, maybe jpz.
Unpack it, copy the modem.bin to /radio/modem.bin
Reboot, check baseband.

Hi,
I recently updated my phone to JVQ but now i'm having a battery drain. The cause (i think) is the high percentage of the android-system. By now its 29% and that's alot. I already deleted the programe software-updater so that can't be the trouble maker anymore. Does someone has a fix for this?
Greetings

Yeah....let your battery go completely dead, then try turning on to make sure its dead
Leave your phone off and then plug in charger until its full, then unplug and plug in again to make sure its full
Repeat these steps 2-3 times and it should be all fixed for you
Also....using titanium backup, freeze the program called "Samsung account" that's another culprit in the "battery drain crisis"

Depends on what you did during that period.. If the processor was running at MAX frequency the entire time, yes thus might be normal.. Also as I notice from the screenshot, the screen is always in in that time frame.. So you deduce from this

Hi,
Thats an abnormal drain. Try restarting your phone and seeing if the problem persists. Also note that the ROM you are using is still under testing and not a finished product so might experience some difficulties. Consider shifting to a more stable ROM if problem persists.
Having said that, battery drain will depend quite a lot on what apps you have running in the background and your settings.
Best way to analyse the situation is by installing an app called 'Better battery stats'. Its by a XDA member and if i'm not mistaken he offers it on XDA as free download. Try to see what is causing partial wakelocks and kernel wakelocks (your phone should be on deep sleep mode for the majority of time). Try to see what MHz is your processor running at (it shouldnt be in the 1400 range for too long unless you are playing some heavy duty games)
Also try to search for threads on 'wakelocks' on XDA to get more details on this subject.
I have experienced close to 10% drop in 1.5 hr in stock ROMs and around 15% in five hours on CleanNote ROM in idle states with lots of background apps disabled.
This is getting really annoying... battery gets charged to 100%, drops slowly then after <50% the phone starts to get hot and just start dying rather quick. I have changed batteries, actually bought a new one - still having the prob. I think i know the culprit but not sure how to attack it. Unfortunately because of my post count, i can't upload a link to the screenshot
!!! HELP !!! :crying:
Well...tell us what u think the culprit is, plz.

What Rom are u running, Overclocking, Undervolting, etc. Thx.

I'm running ParanoidAndroid v.2.50 | Devil Kernel 3.0.31 | Modem I9000ZSJPG (which is rumored to give excellent battery life)
No overclocking or undervolting - don't really mess with those things.
Anyway, when i check battery usage "Media" always use the most when i notice the phone start loosing battery life n running hot. There is a time when i saw Media at 88% while everything incl. screen was less than 20%.
...maybe a rogue app or something syncing constantly ??

highly doubt it... even after flashing and letting the phone sit idle wit no apps install - i get the same prob :/
You probably have com.Android.Media process running all the time..
I had the same with all recent kernels until I have reformatted my both SD cards internal and external.
Media scanner should be out of running processes after five minutes after boot.
I check them via terminal from :
top -m 10
command
Or
busybox top
In five minutes after boot I have almost zero CPU usage from top statistics
Hope it could help you

Hey jc. Really? That can cause issues? I noticed that after like 3 hours it did enter deep sleep. I also just recalibrate the battery twice, but instead I let it fully discharge after calibration, then allowed for full recharge. It seems to be working better but will keep an eye on it.
Thanks for getting back to me and I love the work you're doing for the touchpad

There's lots of info on using BBS here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
There's a bit of learning curve to using it.
Alternatively, you could re-install CM from scratch without installing any apps. Test battery drain. Install one app. Test battery drain. Install another app. Test battery drain. Etc.

Hmm that is an option. I actually had that app installed previously. But I'll check out the forum. I notice that Facebook messenger uses a lot of battery, but everyone and their mother has it installed.
My Xperia V was draining much battery while sleeping, so yesterday I flashed cm-10.1.3-RC2 hoping it could get better.
But it's still draining almost 30% in a period of 8 hours, while I'm sleeping.
I can notice a huge drain caused by Google Services and have already greenified some apps.
It can't be normal, right?! Could someone help me?
Despite this problem, now I have a really better smartphone... So, thank FXP and, please, keep supporting Xperia V.

Not sure if this question belongs to be an own thread...but ok. here we go.
from my experience with Cm i can tell you, if you want better battery life, then you maybe should use a stock firmware!
I used CM and AOKP some weeks before, but the battery drain wasnt normal, not to say horrible.
But this is my experience. You should ask in your CM-Rom Thread, or CM Q/A Thread i think.
I'm a new member and I couldn't ask this in CM thread
I understood what you've said, but even using stock rom I was having that percentage of draining at night...
Do you have a Xperia V?
Could you (or someone else) tell me how much draining is considered normal in the period I've mentioned before?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
30% in 8 hours means that on average your battery will last a day.
That is perfectly normal.
Also, if you keep flashing stuff and installing apps then it drains battery quicker. Leave it alone for a week and see if it settles down.
Sorry, i have a Xperia T.
in the xperia T thread of tilals unofficial CM build (development section) someone mentions also such problems:

awww, gregbradley?
30% in 8hours sleeping? horrible....but you are right, let it settle, fmlogin
Omg, my Galaxy s3 loses only 2% in the same period while sleeping, it's a BIG difference
I had been facing this problem since I bought this phone (2 months ago), that's why I tried to flash CM yesterday... So, I think that nothing will change if I just wait...
Anyway, thank you guys...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
apologies, I didn't see that it was 8 hours while you were asleep. That is not right. But it may be because its working hard after a flash. Please leave it for a while and it should settle, or install better battery stats app (Free on xda) and see whats keeping the phone awake.
Also check what your cpu is set at and the governor, if its on performance it will be maxing out all the time..

Some screenshots.
The graphs show another problem: it is like the phone just know that lost some battery when I turn on the screen.
For example: if I leave the phone with 95%, it pass the hole night "thinking" it has this value, but when I turn on the screen the battery instantly loses around 15%, this "fast drain" stabilizes when it reaches the "real percentage".
Could it be a hardware problem? The battery itself...
Has already someone noticed something similar?
