Hello,
Before my Diamond I had a Motorola v3 Razr. The Razr did give a sms notification every minute or so. When I received a sms, it gives notifications until i read the SMS. The Diamond only flashes the led light. Is it possible to let the Diamond vibrate every 3 minutes or so when there is an unread SMS?
Thnx in advance
Anybody an idear?
settings/personal/sound and notifications/sound (events and notifications on)
settings/personal/sound and notifications/notifications (go look for mms/sms, check "play sound", check "display message on screen", check "vibrate" or choose any combination).
now say thank you and go ...RTFM! (Read The F... Manual) before you post.
i also recommend a search on the forum. don't be lazy...

A bit rude and not even an answer for his question......
He is looking for REPEATED notifications......something SPBPhoneSuite can do for example. There may be other programs out there for the same purpose, don´t know of any freeware, though....

1. sorry you think so. don't get it ...what's rude? my 2 last recommendations?
2. the notification stays on the screen until you dismiss it, so why repeat? as a matter of fact i am not so sure it is not repeating...
i do know for sure that reminders do repeat so i can guess that all notifications are repeating.
i think he is looking for repeated sound notifications.
I'm very sorry when i offended some of you with my question, but the last post sums it all up. I'm looking for a repeating sound/vibration notification. I will try SPBPhoneSuite, but i'm not font on installing an whole " heavy" program for such small things. So when there is an alternative...please let me know
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=368137Kukuriku - arrogance and rudeness are sometimes difficult to distinguish, but both are bad.
I did a freeware solution - DmsisAlert
Hi, i did a simple application that works on Windows Mobile 5 or superior (.Net CF 3.5 is a requirement).
To download go to DmsisAlert page and click on DmsisAlert link, unzip, tranfer the .cab file and install. If you like (or not), i will appreciate some feedback (you can do that on download page).
With Diamond is a good idea not to use the minimize functionality because after that there is no way to get interface back (allthough it still running on the background). I will work on a solution for that (i'm busy enjoying my new phone ).
hope that can help, helps me a lot
Dan
Hi dmoreira,
I like your thoughts about the program. I tryed it, but it gave an error. Nullexeception or something...

Thanks for trying... the program requirements are: Windows Mobile 5 or superior and .Net CF 3.5. I tested on WM5 and WM6.1 (Kaiser and Diamond) and run ok for me. Maybe you device are missing some requirement?!

Dude, try Best Reminder:
http://best-reminder.en.softonic.com/pocketpc
It ain't freeware, but its light and does the job perfectly every time.
I did use SPB phonesuite before, and I found it heavy with other features I don't need. Also, the damn thing didn't work at times!
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405071&highlight=sms+reminder+vibrate
and free, always check the 'Development and Hacking' forum
@dmoreira: What requirement can that be? I have an stock diamond, with latest romupdate en .Net CF 3.5?
@MasK: That's i very nice program. I tested it, and it does the job except for the vibrating!
@badaas: That's another very nice program. I also tested this one and it works perfect. Except that it turns on the screen with every reminder... And you have to reboot the device to configurate it again...

Ok it works just fine! Very nice program! But if i can say 3 things about it:
- The minimize function still doesn't work to well
- You cannot delete the program via the "delete programs" way
- I really like the phone to not only notify me via sound, but also via vibration? Is this possible?
thnx!

before anything thanks for trying my work... about your comments:
"- The minimize function still doesn't work to well" : You're correct, but in others devices without TouchFlo3D the minimize works a lot better. With TouchFlo3D this feature practically doen'st work (i believe that's the same for other applications that have a minimize function that puts an Icon in the Today Screen).
"- You cannot delete the program via the "delete programs" way": A fix for that will be available very soon
"- I really like the phone to not only notify me via sound, but also via vibration? Is this possible?": It's possible but i dont like the result of doing this with the easiest way, so this feature will be available not so soon (but i will adivise here when so).
I will make some changes and post here a new version with some improvements.
Thanks again for trying.

I like testing this program, because it meets almost my exact criteria for such a program! Nice work!
- That minimize function is a pity, but understandable with the TF3D thing!
- Ok if you can fix that 'delete programs' issue, that would be very nice. I don't have a clue how i can properly delete it now!
- I will wait on a fix for the vibrating! That would be very nice!
Keep up the good work!
Thnx!

Hi Rik_X, after a lot of work (i posted the issue in different forums, but got no answer) trying finding a correct solution to uninstall and i ended downloading SkTools (i downloaded from here http://www.clickapps.com/download.htm?pvid=1324) and use a feature called Installed Programs and then Dmsis Alert was listed and i was able to uninstall it!! After that i install the version attached here and then the Dmsis Alert will appear again in the Windows Mobile Remove Program list. Sorry about the troubles that error could cause you.
Anyway i'm posting the last version the doesn't have this uninstall issue. I'm also working on the vibrate feature (still looking a direct interop way to do that).
This is a collection of registry tweaks to allow greater control over the notifications in WM, including the ability to prevent repeating sounds for reminders. What it does is enable the controls in "Sounds & Notifications" that are normally unavailable for several types of notification.
It's a further enhancement of Juggalo_x's enhanced notifications, which has never been updated or particularly well explained (at least not on this website!) ... I have also included the low battery tweak, as suggested by juiceppc in that thread.
Large credit goes to fredjones32 for this guide with an explanation of the registry values and how the repeat check box can be enabled.
These are the notifications included:
ActiveSync: Begin sync
ActiveSync: End sync
Beam: Autoreceive
Connection disconnected
Connection established
Low battery
Messaging: Downloading MMS
Messaging: MMS downloaded
Messaging: MMS sent
Messaging: New e-mail message
Messaging: New MMS
Messaging: New MMS report
Messaging: New text message
Messaging: Sending MMS
Phone: Missed call
Phone: Voice mail
QuickGPS
Reminders
Wireless network detected
NB: Installing this CAB will turn off all notifications for all of the above events. If you go into Sounds & Notifications you will be able to turn on the ones you want again. This happens because the 'repeat' checkbox cannot be enabled without changing the registry value that controls which notifications are set. It is difficult to preserve the previous values during a simple CAB installation - but if anyone knows of a way please let me know. Detailed settings, for example sound file names, are not lost.
thanks mate
Hi Dave!
Thanks for this great piece of enhancement for all of our diamonds

Hi Dave! Thanks for your reply
I tested it yesterday...it's working great, except for one thing
I'd configured the notifications for text messages. I used the option repeat which was also available, so than I wont have to miss the alert about my messages...
But what happened, I heard every ten seconds my alert, I opened my message and It just went on and on and on....even though I already opened and read my text....that's quite strange/odd.....(hope you'll understand what I mean)
Did you had same behaviour on your device??
For the rest..I really really found it useful!
Many thanks again and I hope everybody is going to like it, just as I do!
Cheers
Jeroen
Hi Jeroen,
I don't use the repeat setting - I was mainly interested in being able to turn the repeat off for reminders! I use SPB Phone Suite on my phone, which allows you to configure sounds that repeat every few minutes until the original notification has been dismissed. The beauty of that system is that it is all configurable by profile, so when the phone switches itself into night mode the repeating sounds are turned off. It's not free but there must be some alternatives.
I've just had a play with the normal repeating sounds and you're right, they're particularly ****ing useless.
thanks I really needed that
Davey 101,
Thank you for compilations.
Davey,
Thanks for this application. I've used a couple of your applications/suggestions before (I can't remember which one - bluetooth perhaps) and they all work great. Thanks for your great contribution.
By the way, I have installed this and it works on WM6.5 too.

thank you for developing this. now i won't have to go climb a bell tower. those repetitive reminders were more than just annoying while i was on a call driving and couldn't shut it of.
thanks again.
Turn off led
Davey101 how to turn off led light notifications, because this .cab is only unblocking options
any-way of making this work when phone is turned to vibrate mode? works great when phone is in ring mode for me!
Android 2.0.1 Clean \ Glossy Version
Hey Frendz i am back this time use bandwidth wisely
http://www.myxperoid.com/
Even bundled headphones sound great
1 Main speaker working audio working.... {thx to xda members especially drlucky}
2 wifi working
3 Astro new version added(no waiting)
4 Headphones working {thanks to vdelf}
5 keyboard mapped
6 Backlight control working(thanks to vdelf again)
What you need to do with it:
1. Extract android 20100430.7z on your computer.
2. Copy all files and directories to the root of your sd-card. Do not create any directory, just copy them to the blank sd-card.
3.On the X1 open the sd-card and run haret.exe. You will get alot text running across the screen.

Clean version

Android (Xperoid) is allmost at the stage to be stable enough to use day in day out!
Not everything is working, like camera, headphones (or) WiFi, but it doesn't bother me that mutch.
I can call, text and use the internet so i`m fine
The few things i've encountered and tried to solve (most answers came from this topic)
- WiFi
If you want to use WiFi, use the kernel of the previous version (you can't use headphones anymore, but I prefer WiFi above that), also turn on WiFi in Windows Mobile before you hit HaReT.exe
Kernel can be downloaded here:

- GPS
Turn off GPS in Android (Experoid) else you will get pwnd by the phone, becouse it will freeze in like 5-10 minutes.

To send messages, go to your Windows Mobile and change some settings (if you want to know how read this topic, it's in here).
EDIT it's even here!

You will need to change your SMSC to the correct number without the "+" sign and your Android will be able to send SMS. I'm using SEX1 as my WinMo OS, you can change your SMSC by going to Comm Manager >> Settings >> Phone >> Services >> Voice Mail and Text Messages and change the "+" sign to "00". I'm on Maxis Malaysia, so mine would read 0060120000015 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting**************0060120000015******end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting**************0060120000015******end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting**************0060120000015******end_of_the_skype_highlighting. Once that is done, just run haret.exe and you are good to go.
- GPRS Data Connections
If you want to use your data connections from your operator, you need to fill them in manually.
Quote:
Go to Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > Name Accespoint (I guess it's called like that, I have it in Dutch so I need to translate ) > " Menu Button " > New APN.
Some problems I've ran into that I don't know how to fix:
- Screen never turns off, it just turns black, but it's still on.
- Market fails sometimes, you have internet connection, but market gives you errors
I've encountered more problems but atm I don't remember so they weren't huge fails I guess
I`m not trying to be like "This sucks and that sucks" just trying to help improvement.
I hope I've helped out a bit, btw a tip:
put like a FAQ in the first message, so you don't get 25 posts like "My WiFi aint workin' HELP MEEEH!"
sorry i just copy and pasted it from a reply from falcobredewold

Nice work Sanjay, i lost all hope with Fatsal's lost mobile
is there a way of running this from the Phone memory and not from SD? do you think it will going to enhance the speed?
no u can only run dis from sd card
it is not a complete replacement for wm as u can not use camera , gps , and key mapping is also not proper
Just downloaded the file from Hotfile and it says it does not contain archives...
Am now downloading from Mediafire. will take some time.
Sanjay, thanks for sharing btw !!!
Mediafire one works with unpacking ! Took more than an hour to download :-(
how this could be try the mediafire one
is this the same android system? but just with the updated kernel?
or have you changed/upgraded something in android as well?
Thanks Sanjayecb. It works great. Sound and wifi are both working. It's also quite fast. I think it beats Winmo 6.5.3 at speed.
Downloading it right know
Thnx if it works fine I will make a donation
Appreciate your nice work.
Does this release fix the problem that backlight can't turned off?
so whats the difference with this release than the latest kernel release where speaker and wifi already working
Is there a way to add default android keyboard? I very much prefer it over HTC one that this distro sports.
no difference as such i just helped the dummies.
Do you mean the keyboard? HTC lacks few characters, some of which important - like ` for example. This is why I don't like HTC one
thanks for your hard work:i'm downloading it
but what's the new in it?
no i was talking about the hw keyboard
the keymapping is not proper in android

Could I explain how I change it to a rom and preferably in Portuguese is not going to even be in English.
Personal attention: I do not understand a thing about it and he liked me explain it step by step and never did anything because it always had normal phones only.

Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
if I understand you correctly you are on stock rom you are not notified about incoming sms and the lights signal it for only 5 min
right?
that should be a configuration issue, I'm not familiar any more with stock rom menu setup, but it is possible to assign notifications to events (on my 6.5 it's located under settings - sound¬ifications)
the same for illumination, you can specify which events shall be accompanied with illumination (here: settings - system - illumination) and you should also be able to configure how long the illumination per event lasts (don't ask me where though)
I know XperiaTweak2 and app Illumineria enable you to mod this
if you still like to switch roms have a look at the rom dev stickies (olinex for h-spl, biovolt/phenx for tutorials, jackleung for sd method, custom rom threads to pick your favorite)
or correct me in case I misunderstood your post
best
As far as I am concerned, the 6.5 version is slower than 6.1
Hi
I'm on [ROM][ICS][I9000] Team ICSSGS RC4.2 right now. It works fine, but when someone calls me my phone rings only once and then it's silent... When I'm on vibrate/vibrate+ring mode the vibration goes on like it should but there is still only one ring sound.
How to fix it? Any help?
thanx a lot in advance
villu
yes , I would like also to know how can be fixed.
thanks
Yes and me too please!
As far as I am aware it is not a ROM issue.
I had the same problem. It is only with certain ring tones. Test the ringtones and find one that loops.
I've sorted mine after reading this post.
Basically, if using a custom ringtone (MP3) you need to convert to OGG format, then add a tag to the file (there's a handy utility to do it there).
Very bizarrely, as I read elsewhere (or in that post?), the ringtones down as far as "Digital Phone" in the list DO repeat, and the ones after don't! Mine is named "Classic Bell" and so appears above, but if it came further down the list (e.g. "Old Bell"), then who knows!! I haven't tried it....
I'm on Team ICSSGS RC4.2 ROM BTW.
