Hi everyone, first things first I have already read through the various threads on this subject but there doesn't seem to be any consistent advice/suggestions with my specific problem. I was trying to flash a custom ROM on my tablet and I don't know whats happened but the net result is that my tablet won't turn on and it only shows any signs of life when it is plugged in to the wall charger where you see the clam-shell style cell phone connecting to a computer screen but its flashing rather than constant (the forum won't let me post the youtube clip thats out there demonstrating this but google 'Samsung Galaxy Tablet Bricked' and if the first video that appears).
If its connected to my laptop then it doesn't charge at all and the laptop doesn't recognise the tablet at all so I can't re-flash stock firmware via Odin.
I have had it on charge using the wall charger for over 12 hours now and yet there still seems to be no life in it and I've tried all the various combinations of power + volume down button etc
Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I can sort it. Am I right in thinking that as it at least shows some signs that its not dead when you plug it in at the wall, that its not completely bricked?
Any help at all is greatly appreciated and apologies for going over old ground.

Does Odin see it? Computer may not recognize tablet but odin/heimdall should.

Otherwise, send it to this site, they claim that they will repair full bricked tabs

No even Odin doesn't recognise it. Haven't tried Heimdall though.
Its now been on charge for about 2 days and yet if you unplug it from the wall it doesn't turn on/respond to anything.
Boot into download mode before connecting to pc. Then open odin or heimdall. Use the latest versions.

the tab is that dead that I cannot boot it at all, let alone in download mode. If I unplug it from the wall charger it doesn't respond to anything. Completely impossible to do the above.
well my friend you have the same problem of another member in xda, i dont remember where i read about it, but am pretty sure that your battery is completely dead, it shows the same thing, when plugged to wall you can boot into download mode, once unplugged, you can't access to anything. In his case, he tried to charge it for a day, and then the tab turned on, he thought that the tab is alive again, so he tried to flash it, after 3 minutes, the tab went off again before the operation complete, and now his tab is fully bricked.
yours still alive, i think that it is soft brick, or not bricked at all, but your battery is dead, and you can't do anything without a working battery, if you have enough skills to change the battery, get one form the net, and you can also make sure that the battery is the problem when you open it, you can connect it to a stabilized power supply with the needed voltage and current, if it turns on, your battery is indeed the problem, if not, we should think about something else.
good luck my friend, i hope i helped a little.
edit : i fond it

this is exactly the same problem you have, read all the thread, before you do anything more harmful to your tab.

Hello all,
I searched around, but didn't find anything quite like my issue so figured I'd create a new thread.
I work for a company that uses Galaxy Tabs for various purposes. One of our men brought back their VZW Galaxy Tab (SCH-i800) and it was in an infinite boot loop.
I went to recovery and attempted to do a full wipe. This did not work (partitions were all jacked up) so I couldn't get it fixed. I'm not sure if the guy tried to root the thing and broke it or what.
Anyway, I was attempting to root then fix the partitions (then was going to flash a stock unrooted rom) and ended up soft bricking it (Phone Icon -- /!\ -- Computer Icon). The issue I'm having is the only time that screen comes up is when the device is plugged into the wall. It turns on, then off, then on, then off. If I unplug the device, it shuts down with no way of bringing it back up. I've tried holding power for 5 minutes, the same amount of time with power + vol up and power + vol down. Plugging it into the computer's USB ports does not help either.
It's like the battery is drained but it won't charge when it's on the soft brick screen. I've had it plugged in to the wall for almost 6 hours now with no hope in sight. When it's plugged in, I feel heat on the back of the device like it would normally be charging. The AC adapter is also the standard warmth after a lengthy charge.
I was wondering if anybody has had similar issues with this device and if there is any way to correct it.
--- EDIT 8/10/2012 ---
Another thing of note is when the device is charging, I can power it down by holding power for a few seconds, but the Soft Brick screen pops back up almost immediately upon release of the button.
I cannot boot into recovery or the standard download mode even when it's plugged in.
As long as you can get the Phone ! PC screen, your'e good, because this screen IS as a download screen. Go to this screen and flash a known good ROM.

You must not have read the whole thing. Not a problem.
The only time I get the Phone ! PC screen is when it's plugged in to the wall. As soon as I unplug it, it goes away and the device won't start up no matter what I try.
When you connect the tab to the pc, is it recognized by Odin.

No... When the device is unplugged from the wall it is shut down and won't boot back to the download screen, recovery, nothing. It doesn't turn on. There are occasions where the download screen stays up but it appears to just be frozen. The computer doesn't recognize it and neither does Odin.
I left it plugged in when I left work on Friday... Going to see if charging for the weekend does anything.

No dice.. still jacked.
I determined the following scenarios may have happened:
1) The battery died (bad battery) during a software update and messed up the partitions
2) The battery died (bad battery) while he attempted to (unauthorized) root or flash the device, messing up the partitions.
The only thing I'm sure of is the battery is fried so any kind of hacking I can do to the device are for naught. I was able to get it to connect to Odin this morning for about 3 minutes (after having it plugged in to the wall all weekend). During the flash it shut down again bricking it even worse. Now the device won't turn on when plugged in to the wall.
Thanks for the suggestions and help. I'm calling this a lost cause at this point. We're just swapping out the device for a new one. Once that's complete, I may tear the device down and try to do a reset on the main board to see if that does anything, though I doubt that's the case.
Right I had exactly the same problem as you (exactly the same symptoms) but I have now fixed my tablet.
Like you I got to the point where the Tablet had enough charge to actually unplug it and connect it to my PC where I then tried to flash a stock ROM using Odin. About three quarters of the way through flashing the stock ROM the tablet died, disconnected from Odin and I got a message in the task list in Odin advising me that the process had failed. Even weirder my PC did an emergency shut down and restarted in safe mode.
Anyway I tried it again but when I started my machine, once I'd logged onto my desktop I started up Odin as quickly as possibly, selected the .tar file and pressed start as quickly as possible....it worked and my tablet was flashed with a stock ROM. However my battery was still pretty much dead and the first time of charging once it had been flashed with the ROM took about 24hrs plugged in at a mains charger for the battery to reach 100%.
My point is persevere with it and you will fix it. I was at the point where I was about to send it off to be un-bricked but obviously I'm glad I didn't now.
It is a ***** of a brick though, this 'coma brick'.
I've been having these same issue with my friends i800 galaxy tab. Can you chime in and offer some advice?

same problem-solved
I was having the exact same issue. the device screen was completely black when plugged into the computer. I was just about to give up when, all of a sudden the device went to the boot error screen while plugged into my computer. Apparently, it must remain plugged into the computer for about 20-30 minutes. Once this screen appeared, I ran the Heimdall one-click unbrick utility, and like magic, my galaxy tab was working again. Give it a try, and good luck.

Dear all,
Yesterday, my Galaxy tab p1000 used normally. However, today, I can't power it on. It can't be due to batterry because I remember I charged it fully. My tab is running ICS 4.0.4 and everything is okay. Now I try many ways but it doesn't make any flash
Do you know what the error is? How to force it to power on?
I have tried to go to recovery mode and download mode but in vain. It seem deadly.
Hi
when you connect it to your computer, is it showing in sign of life? (on odin or heimdal) if it's a No, try to let it charge for 4 hours and then try to get it in recovery or download mode, if you get nothing, then look in YouTube for a video to how open your tab and unplug the battery for 5 minutes and plug it back, if nothing happen, get a new battery
ps : if your tab is still on warranty, don't do anything from above, get it to Samsung and let them do their Job.
best regards ^_^

Maybe it's time to upgrade to build 40?
Have you tried to go to recovery mode? download mode? or press the power button while plugged in to computer/or wall for more than 5 seconds?
it has no signs of life. I have tried every ways I know: go to recovery mode, download mode, plug-in computers... Perhaps I have to open it to do something with the battery. But, it have just changed it full a day ago. It can't run out of batterry so quickly.

you can't assume that the battery isn't dead, even if you charged it fully a day before, and maybe if you unplug it and plug it back it will came to life, we don't know

I had the same problem. I opened mine up and unplugged the battery for an hour. Then I charged it for 24 hours. Tap the screen and keep hitting the power button. That's how I got mine working. I hope this helps
P.s if you have warranty. Just send it in

I brought it to a warranty centre and they said the IC is dead. (the chip to power on) They asked me for 100$ for a new IC. hic hic. I didn't see they replaced it or not. Is there any way to check whether the new IC was replaced?
So I have a S5830D, and it's been working fine for the past while. It's rooted and I have this ROM on it. It was working fine, and I haven't removed any apps or installed anything for a while, but I noticed that when I tried charging it, my phone wouldn't respond to the charger(it wouldn't show as charging). Using a new outlet, and trying to charge it from my computer via USB didn't work either, so I tried turning it off, but now I can't turn it back on. I get no response at all. No Samsung logo or anything. Is my phone bricked, or is there something wrong with the hardware?
Would this work for a 5830D, or is there something else I can try to unbrick it, if it is bricked?
EDIT:I can put it into emergency download mode, and RAM DUMP ARM9?
EDIT2: Managed to turn it back on, it seems like the battery drained, and I wasn't able to charge it through my stock charger. Had to connect it to my PC for a few minutes. However, now I can only charge through my PC, and not through the normal wall outlet charger. Any clues as to how to fix this?

Hi,
First of all, thank you for reading this thread.
I'm pretty sure I am dealing with totally hard bricked phone but I thought I might try and see if there is anything else I can do with my phone issue.
I have GT-N7000 (AKA Note 1) and had it for quite awhile approximately for 3-4 years. I was texting on my phone and it suddenly reset it self. Then it was stuck on that GT-N7000 logo. So I decided to turn the phone off and change the battery. After that, the phone doesn't turn on anymore.
So here are some details.
1. Phone does not turn on (Yes, it doesn't even show Samsung logo, screen stays black and nothing turns on).
2. Phone does not go into recovery mode or download mode.
3. I have 4 other spare batteries fully charged with separate battery charger - Tried them all and phone still doesn't turn on.
4. Tried connect phone to wall charger and PC via USB cable - Phone doesn't show anything and stays not turned on & PC doesn't recognise the phone.
5. I left the phone with battery off for 1-2 hours and tried to turn it on - Doesn't turn on.
I am assuming that I am not dealing with faulty screen but guessing that one of phone's IC chip or even processor is *Dead*.
Is there anything else that I could try that might worth a try?
Once again, thank you for reading this and hope to hear from anyone's input

What ROM were you using and have you faced any random resets in the past? It does sound like something got fried in there, try bringing it to a dealer to check.

Thanks you for your reply.
I had CM rom which I can't remember what it was unfortunately now...
Yes the phone used to go random reset on me when the phone was on both stock rom and custom rom. Probably it was sign saying that the phone was gonna die,. LOL.
So basically, I have given up on the phone, its dead and probably gonna need to change some sort of chip on the motherboard..
Now I have another GN with be and this time its 7000B instead of just 7000... pain to install philz on this bloody thing.
Again, thank you!
I searched but haven't found a good solution for this. My sister in law came over and her S6 is stuck at the charge screen. If there's any life in the battery at all, it'll show the battery-with-lightning bolt, and the LED comes on dim white. It'll stay this way until the battery dies. If you leave it in it'll just stay this way forever.
Occasionally I can get into download mode, but that's about the only thing I can get it to do besides show the battery. I'm happy to use Odin to reflash the stock T-Mobile ROM, but if there's a better method I'm open to it.
Thanks!

Well. Downloaded the latest firmware, but Odin 3.10.6 on two different W10 PCs with two different cables doesn't identify the phone. (As in, plug in but nothing happens.)
Not sure what to do next. If you have suggestions, I'm all ears. Otherwise I might be in the market for a new motherboard.
And a follow-up. I've tried plugging other phones into the computers with the same cable and Odin recognizes them right away. So I'm guessing this might be a motherboard issue. Of course there are no used motherboards on eBay right now. So... open to suggestions here. Thanks!
