That's because zooming means cutting the image.

Of course but our ace isn't really capable of zoom, the picture quality is too bad. Rather get closer to your subject than use zoom.
cheers,
Rich

Zoom is very pointless in a phones camera.
Its just a digital zoom...
Digital zoom just mean its will resize image to get a bigger image of the object...
So you can zoom manually yourself by editing the image and zooming it.
no difference from camera zoom

Since the zoom function you are asking for is digital zoom only you could just as well take pictures at the highest resolution (5MP) and then crop them before uploading to the desired "zoom" level. This way you don't lose any quality and have access to the source file later on!
I'm using Camera360, which is free, also has a zoom function (although I do not use it and it does not seem to work, at least at full res settings) and a lot of filters and effects which can be applied during shooting or after!

Camera Zoom FX seems great.
What type of zoom is best for Galaxy Ace, Autodetected, 1, 2, 3 or 4?

Camera is not good

I have one LG lu6200
Lu6200's picture is better than P880's.
P880 unable to focus, the focusing blur.
My vision is taiwan v10c.

upgrade to 10F maybe it help with the focus
Not a big fan of the camera neither, I can't figure out how to take clear pics. Many pics isn't sharp.
I have 3 different camera apps and none of them is good on inside photo..
I have the original app, camera zoom fx and lgcamera, where lgcamera is the worst. Only on auto focus the camera actually focus (original). Still I get pics that isn't sharp.
I'm on 10f... For me it seems like it got worse after the latest update...

i have lgcamera pro and the free version, images are hits and misses (sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad). im using camera360 and camera zoom fx as well.
have you tried changing the focus mode to fixed, or other modes?
I start to think that the only good camera that LG had, was the Viewty I, Viewty II its not bad too... Instead of learn... they do worst.

Yes..
In the original camera app there's only auto and face reckoning...
In camera zoom fx it won't focus in fixed mode, macro and infinity just taking the pic with ones. Lgcamera is the same and camera360 focused a bit (macro)..

Well, o2x takes better pics, even my transformer prime takes better photos.. but besides that, I love the phone!

I don't think it's bad and I don't really have any problems with focusing. I just touch the screen where i want to focus and when it is focused I press the the shutter button (or volume button).
I also had the N8 (well 3 actually) and woow I liked that camera, though I had problems with the screen, pink tint and things like that. After the third phone I took the money back. It would have been very nice if the N8 was an android phone.
I love it too,i hope the next version will better than now:laugh::laugh:

I recommend u to use Camera ICS+, I purchased it and it works perfect for me. You may try the free version, which is Camera ICS, it is actually the google stock camera with some mods, but I personally think it is even better than the stock LG camera app, hope u enjoy it.:good:
I use lgCamera, both free and pro version can provide better pictures with ISO and focus control, but sometimes it cannot save picture properly (resulted in picture without thumbnail)

It is changeable. Current duration is set at 3 seconds. How long do you want it to be?
Code: .field public static final RELEASE_TOUCH_AF_DURATION:I = 0xbb8
where bb8 = 3000 (ms)

result is the final picture is blurry, and details lost although its tries to focus. its not just the visual part, seems to be a combo

can i choose pixel size for taking photos?

i can't seem to find the option.. i don't want 8 megapixel pictures all the time..takes up memory.. i normally take 2/3 megapixel shots.. that's good enough for me...
you can only shoot pictures with maximum 4 megapixels with the HTC one
it's also possible to shoot pictures with less than 4 megapixels

I don't have the phone with me now, but when you open the options, it should be in the first 3 settings you see. One should be Crop, the other should be size or resolution or something. With words like 3261x5112
try menu button
You can't.

Set crop to wide for 1520 x 2688
Crop square for 1520 x 1520
For more options a camera app like
Camera Fv5 lite (free)

Or full featured paid version for more options

True They're hiding the pixel count to avoid intrigue with the ultrapixel camera. Most naive people would probably complain when they see the numbers in the settings so instead they opt to set it to wide, regular & square.

Zooming limitation in photos

Has anybody else noticed that you can zoom only up to a certain extent i pics, I guess only to 100% of thr pic size. Sometimes the photos are very hard to view so I need more zoom. I searched a lot and the only thing I found out is changing accessibility settings and tripple tapping to zoom. This isn't a real solution to the problem, as it's very ugly and not practical. Does anyone know any mod to enable more zooming?

Thats a good question! i was never impressed with the camera on the HTC One and let alone the zoom. I had to pull the photos off and use Adobe Photoshop to zoom to the level i needed for detail. Doubt this is what you want to do but, if worse comes to worse.
FYI - HTC work on a better camera on these phones
The way HTC handles zooming in the gallery is by it's resolution. In order to zoom in to a photo more is by using a 3rd party gallery

Doesn't anyone understand there is no zoom? The so called zoom is the same as cropping, which is limited by the resolution. Lower megapixels = lower level of cropping before pixelation

I'm pretty sure he's referring to zooming to photos he has saved on his phone or photos he is viewing on Facebook. I realize these phones don't have zoom and only digital zoom which is essentially the same as cropping. What he is trying to do is trying to bypass the limitations that HTC implementated to the zooming level on the photos he is viewing

Did you ever read my question? I was pretty clear I am talking abour SAVED photos, not camera app. I have had many phones, but this is the first that limits the zooming so much, it's absurd. My old Sensation can zoom up to 300%. I think HTC had done this because of the ****ty resolution of the camera

This limitation was set even before this phone with its ultrapixel camera. I believe it was implemented starting on the HTC one X series including the evo lte but I could be wrong. You can try aosp the zoom limitation isn't there

Camera Shutter Speed

Hey Guys
Quick question.
Is there is a way to speed up the camera shutter speed through software, or is it completely hardware driven? I am using the Camera FV-5 app. Takes great pictures, just wondering if there was a way to improve the shutter response. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I tried that and the shots were still blurry unfortunately. I refuse to believe the camera/sensor on this phone is as bad as it is making out to be.
