hey
ive been told when using titaium to backup all apps and system data but when it comes to restoring it all, that it should be installed as apps and data only,is that corrent?
Okay i have a external sd card which is only like 3gb, now when you flash roms etc and have to restore stuff back, what exactly is Titanium backing up? is it backing every single thing except the sd card? will all my data within apps remain when i restore? so all my photos, icons, bookmarks etc etc
iam so confused as the app does not specify things in catogories.
cheers.

It backups your application and data(passwords or data entered in application) just like you had it before flash another rom. It will not backup ur photos, songs, icons but it will backup the bookmarks.

Okayyyyy so is it best to move my music and icons and all that stuff to the external SD card cause that's not touched when you flash a Rom and stuff right??

Even it remains untouched on internal SD card, it won't erase during wiping cache, wiping data (except you specifically select to format USB storage), Flashing.

Thanks Mr ketan that's all i wanted to find out lol I could only imagine how annoying it would be to keep moving everything to ex SD card.

TB can even backup your contacts/call history, data usage and many others too, all you have to do is to backup particular app and while restoring, just restore "data only". I have tried it for same ROM version, not sure if it will work inter ROM as well

hey jeetu! lol
you now ive still not flashed rom cause each time i see insructions, someone says somethin different lol. although you guys in this thread have always helped me.
ive had a go with gobackup pro and it really does everything, like contacts and bookmarks, your pictures, music, whatever you select it will back up. now that ive learned that my internal sd and ex sd will not be touched, iam not so paronoid about leaving everything in my internal sd as ive got over 10gb of space their. i just thought once ive backed up, ill have to move everything to ex sd due to me doing wipes and flashing roms, it would all be removed LOL.
BUT i do have a question, when i go into settings and click into storage, under internal storage it says ive got over 649mb of apps installed, now under internal sd it says 423mb. NOW is the apps installed under internal just all the system apps that come with the rom? and is this what will be removed when i do the full wipe etc?

Hey!!
One is system ROM it should be around 900 MB in total and almost consumed unless you remove some apps from system, this space is used by system apps included in the ROM and will stay even if you wipe the device. (you cannot see this in settings, use TB for it)
The one you are talking about is Internal storage (aroung 2 GB) and is used for apps you download from play store or from SD card. These apps will be removed with wipe.
Okayyyy I think I get it now lol...but both the SD storages will stay? They better lol
R u still on stock rom and if so why are you not flashing roms? Always wondered

Yes, SD cards will not be wiped with flashing unless you choose to wipe/format SD cards as Dr.Ketan said. I change ROMS very frequently, tried almost all available custom roms for Note in first 5-10 days . As of now I am using modified version of stock ROM. I have replaced lots of stock apps with modified ones (thanks to the Devs), so no need of custom ROM, but planning to try CM10 soon.
Ha ha ha, i am doing this since long, just difference is never tried custom ROM still.
And that is real our custom ROM.

Indeed , I started doing this when I was using htc HD2 and there was no new ROM left for me to try, lol
So what are the best Rome to try??? Rocketrom v10 seems good and that criskelo one but will I loose all system apps? Also can I use netcore v13 with both Roms if I choose to try both of them...or do I need abyess kernal?
I don't like the look of the stock launcher icons in TW so I guess ill have to change launchers unless I can find a rom where I can change my icons and stuff

Both of these Roms are good and include almost all stock apps, you can use Notecore with them, no need to flash Abyss kernel. You can use Go launcher EX if you don't like the icons as these roms are also TW based and will have same icons .
Try CM based roms if you want to try something new.
CM roms OK I will look for v9 since 10 is not out yet. So netcore I can use with also but I must perform full wipe etc...reading all this info just makes my brain go crazy lol your truly helpful

CM10 is out but not stable yet, u can use notecore to wipe and then flash cm9 but do not flash it once you are on cm. Cm uses different kernels and will come with its own.
But better you read rom threads for flashing instructions, either with Notecore or abyss gb.

Lol I've had a gud look but I really don't see any I like so maybe I should just stick with root but I have to say this speedmod kernal with ics stock is much smoother and faster. Would the netcore kernal on my stock rom make it even faster? I've heard gud reviews about it

I have been running a rom with a2sd and it works nice, but i want to try some others out and i don't know if i should dare to flash any rom without a2sd in case of if it screws up my phone or anything.
can someone please tell me if this is harmless or not and if backing up my rom through rom manager/clockwork recovery helps backing up my a2sd and all that?
will i be able to restore everything exactly as it was (including the a2sd) ?
Thanx!
You should backup with Rom manager or nandroid ( if I'm not wrong it saves ext partition too) , then wipe and apply the Rom you want.

Hi Folks,
I am not new to this forum and i successfully flashed and tested out several custom ROMs. And yes, I know, I am still a Noob
But I have a weird problem now...
It doesn't matter which ROM I flash, my device won't get wiped. Well yes, I messed up my Nandroid backups, but:
I tried several kernels, ROMs and bootloaders. Even with the ones from samfirmware.com.
I tried it via Recovery and via the Android settings. And I've got all these old folders and files which don't get deleted when you uninstall an app. I'd really like to have a clean phone.
I know, it's a luxury problem, but it is very annoying.
So, could anyone please point me to some direction?
Thanks in Advance!
Cheers, berkley

Exact!!!
Well wipe does not wipe everything. I think to do what you are asking you need to format the internal SD card right after or maybe before a flash. That won't do the system stuff (I believe) but just the user area. The apks should recreate what they need afterwards.
But I haven't done it for a long time so don't trust me 100%. But that should do it and if you are flashing after it should clean it all up even if something useful got lost.

Use sd card maid to find legacy folders and for general clean up, amazing app

All data will be wiped if you flash with Odin with PIT-file and 'Re-partition' ticked.
Sent from hell to take your soul
could also try using the format internal SD card from the phones menu.
Does that mean that even a full reset doesn't wipe everything?
Full reset as done via punching in *2767*3855# on the dialer.
Hi Guys,
thanks for your nice words and help. I really don't know what was wrong. And I really don't know, what has fixed it!!! But now everything is working again. Thanks a ton!!!

Hi, Anyone can help me to figure out how can i move all date(applications fails) to SD card? , because I installed some Apps on my sd but phone says that internal memory is low , I guess that some fails of Apps still leaving in internal memory.
can u pls elaborate the condition of ur phone?like whether u r rooted or not , wat rom u r running?
yes eventhough u move apps2sd , some data remains in internal memory...
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
Yes, it is rooted, android gingerbread 2.3.6
so u r wid rooted stock rom. so in order to increase internal storage so as to install more apps. you got two options.
1. flash a custom rom that supports sd ext ...
2. stay wid stock rom, install blackrose and resize partition.

Research Apps2sd or using something like darktremor script and a 1gb ext4 partition on your SD card

How can I install rom?
Is it safe or can I recovery current rom after changing?
Thanks
hmmmm. bro u need to do some searching and reading before u do these things...
yes you can restore back to ur previous rom if u had done its backup in recovery... btw wat recovery are u running... stock or custom???

One more question, I tried to find info about How can I turn on radio? but nothing exactly I can not Found, can you give me some links?
u mean fm radio right?
insert ur headphone and open that app

About a month ago I was in the same position as you are. Was really new to all of this and I was constantly running out of space on my N1. All this stuff takes time to figure out, but its really not that difficult if you can follow direction and aren't afraid of typing commands. IMO the easiest way to expand your internal memory is to install CM7 and use S2E. Note that you are not really expanding your internal memory.. it's just a really cool work around. You'll want to make sure you have a fast sdcard, I'm using a class 10 32Gb card and life is good again.
I tried CM7, but with it GPS does not work.
If you've made it this far, getting CM7 on there, then getting the GPS working again shouldn't be too much trouble. At this point you might want to consider flashing a new kernel. I switched to 2.6.38.8 Tiamat_N1-v4.1.0, mostly because the stock kernel in CM7 had low in-call audio volume for me. It's working great so far and I've noticed better battery life.
Just make sure you do a nandroid backup first!!
OK, thanks, but from where I can download kernel and how can I change it?

Hi all,
I had gone through some suggested threads, even though this question was asked previously, that didn't help me in finding solution..all i wanted to know is, can the application stored in phone's internal memory be removed.. apps like - Samsung apps, Talkback & Internet ?
and what's the best way to optimize internal memory.. ?

Yes it can be removed. You gotta have root though. After u rooted your phone, just download SystemApp Remover from playstore and install it. It's a paid app btw.
Try using link2sd.. it more simple..
but you must root n partition sd card before..

link2sd is a very good app,as it as the option to move an app to sd card even the ones that don't have that option in settings/applications/downloaded or all,but rom toolbox is the ultimate tool

surprisingly, the phone still works.. left with no alternative..so was the previous post.
Thank You,

After looking into trying a custom rom for my rooted thrill I decided to try out CyanogenMod 7.2.0 just to test the waters because it was my first time flashing a rom on my thrill. I had some issues but was finally able to flash CyanogenMod rom on my thrill. I liked it a lot and it seemed to be working fine but it was plugged into the charger cause it was late at night. The next morning I unplugged it and went to work... Normally my stock thrill will last me my whole shift which is 8 hours plus travel time. By the time I get off of work my phone still in the green. Anyway by around first brake I noticed the battery was half gone this was in only three in a half hours by 4 hours it was in the red pretty much dead... Any ideas or suggestions? Btw I am back to stock gb but still was to try a custom rom and I really liked CyanogenMod 7.2.0

Try using the latest nightly. It seemed a lot better with battery drain. Also once you've flashed the nightly, charge to 100%, go to recovery and under advanced menu, wipe battery stats. Let the phone run till it dies and see if that helps.

I'm kinda afraid to retry and flash another rom on my phone...The first time I did it and tried to recover my stock rom I backed up it said it wasn't there or it did not exist. So I had to reinstall the original att gb rom and lost everything. Do I have to make a new backup of my rom every time I flash?
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda app-developers app
No, but you will want to store it on your external SD card or transfer your stock backup to the PC to be safe. When you wipe before flashing you may wipe the area your backups are contained. Once you have them in a safe place you can flash without worry. If anything happens you can mount your SD card through recovery and transfer a backup then restore it. Get comfortable with making backups before flashing and what to do when a problem does occur. Panic can lead to bad mistakes.

Yeah that's exactly what I did and now I am flashing at a more comfortable level. And I did find my original backup and was able to flash my thrill back to where I had it. For some reason it won't show up in recovery mode, the only way I was able to flash it was through cwm. Now I'm running promethius Project Rom v1.5 with no idea kernel. I have flashed other kernels also. I want to flash another rom but hate setting everything up again lol like home screens, launchers, widgets, and reinstalling all my apps I have on my sd card.

Check out titanium backup and ROM toolbox Pro (its worth paying for). Those two apps will get your old apps restored and restore the data (titanium backup) and give you all the tools you may need to tweak your ROM and customise it. ROM toolbox has root browser, ROM manager, CPU control, scripter and tons of others in one app. With those two apps you can have everything back how it was (besides home screens, which some launchers do allow you to make a backup) and anything else you need to get it running how you like.
