No problem your welcome! Root allows you to use some very useful apps, most of them requires root acces to work!!
Sent from my GT-S5570 using xda premium

Root gives some apps permission to control for example your CPU so that you can overclock etc.
Apps are not allowed to control cpu, gpu, modifying system files etc so when you are rooted the app will ask you if its ok to give access to them instead of making the descision itself to just deny access.

No idea, I rooted before it got so damn difficult. My advice can only be to follow the guides
TGF: If they just read an learned they would see that it is not difficult at all.. only problem is.. it is easier to ask than to look up info yourself

V6 Supercharger

Just ran this script on my CM9'd 8.9.
It's amazing. Scrolling lag is gone, 'sticky' scrolling is gone. I can load up engadget and the whole website is loaded from top to bottom, can scroll up and down it without waiting for anything to load it's so smooth.
Best of all, press the home button and it doesn't keep having to redraw widgets.
Go install V6 Supercharger now people.
Go.

There you go mate, make sure you follow the ics only instructions on post #2 as well!
Its very simple, just make sure to install busy box 1.18.2. Any other version won't work.

Ah OK...well there are a plethora of them in the dev section. And overcome is a stock based rom that this would work great on.

What'd you mean? I'm running Cyanogenmod 9 ROM, and the V6 supercharger script has definitely worked.
You do need to edit the services.jar tho but its all explained in the thread.

Shame it doesn't work on the stock rom, I love the Samsung stuff and TouchWiz needs speeding up more than anything, I don't wanna lose the social hub though.

As nice as the hubs are, I'd use a custom rom over the stock any day of the week. The stock roms just too slow and laggy, makes the hubs useless. I'd rather have a smooth device...yeah it means using crappy apps like plume and friendcaster, but gets the job done...

Sweet. Someday when I have an extra hour I'll read all the install instructions and give it a go. I've never seen such a long OP for installing a mere script. This looks more complex than unlocking my Wildfire S's bootloader and rooting!
I've installed it and it works. But what option did you choose from 1-9? I chose 9...

Hi there,
I just installed this and I must say I am very impressed!
Took photos remotely, set off alarm, got GPS location etc..
Very useful for retrieving a lost phone!
I think everyone should have this on their Android.
Nice app. Thanked for letting me know about this. Gonna play with it for a bit.
@op: what questions do you have in mind?

First- Thanks for ur reply bro's.
I want to know what happens If our phone get stolen.
If the thief flash the stock rom, will that security thing still work?
This is just not for me, for my Elder bro.
Appreciate ur replies

If he does full wipe and flashes a diff rom? Probably not. Not sure as i haven't tried. But i did try it on avast - it has some of the features there too. I even gave it admin rights. Then i flashed a diff rom. And it's gone.
If this app operates on the same principle (which i think it does) then a full wipe via recovery will render it useless. Haven't tried factory reset via settings, though.
Again, this is based on the assumption that this app works the same way as avast's anti-theft feature.

If you would take the time to read the page you referred here it would satisfy us all.. You are lazy and obviously trolling.
No pre installation required
You didn't install AndroidLost on your phone? No problem! You can push the AndroidLost app to your phone from google market and initiate the connection to googles servers by sending an SMS with the message "androidlost register" to your phone.

Now go back to the page you posted here and start reading before asking stupid questions.

No you can't. You need to flash the stock rom and then you can unroot. CyanogenMod uses many features that require root. And also CWM needs root to do mostof its job.

This or the toolkit works on all fw.
If you feel like you still want ota or kies to work for updates... don't even try it if you can't even find root on your own
There's a lot more to know than just how to root it.
