HI guys. I am newbie of here.
Now I am using SHW-M180S which is Galaxy Tab of SK Telecom in Korea. I want to change my booting animation and use other many ROMs or MODs etc… My tab is Rooted. Can I use any XDA datas on Galaxy Tab Original Firmware of Korea? If I can't what should I do? Please help me.

hi
make sure that you know what kind of gtab you have, is it (p1000 or p1000L or p1000N) ..., and then you need to know what (version of android) your tab is running, after that, you should check your (bootloader) , is it protected or not, and finally you can start flashing roms.
hint : the best way to learn about all this stuff is doing your own, personal research. the key words are between brackets, use the search tool of xda and look for those words.
best regards ^_^

Thanks for your reply, Sifou.
I think that p1000 and other somethings are Model Number of GLOBAL version Galaxy Tab. But mine is KOREAN version and as I wrote it is SHW-M180S. And my Android version is 2.3.6 GingerBread.
But I dont know about bootloader clearly so I will search over it and try other things by myself.

But unfortunately, I can't find my solutions at the thread. Because I am a Korean, I have Korean Firmware files.
While Searching, I found a bad news.
"Korean's Galaxy Tab(SHW-M180S) and GT-P1000's partition structure is different so if I Flash the ROM data partition does not normally activate "
This is a sentence of the thread which the developer of Korean Community uploaded in XDA. Very Sad. He is asking the solution for other developers so I should find this thread.
dear friend
there is a million way to use your beautiful galaxy tab without flashing it, you can change the launcher, and almost every thing in the interface, icons, wallpapers and so, this device is very useful, and by the way, you have the latest version of gingerbread out of the box, which is great, and as you said, your tab is rooted, which is superb! you can do whatever the google play offers, titanium backup, call recorder, etc...
think about it
i hope that i helped you, i dont want to disappoint you, i just want you to know that your tab is already great without any flashing.
best regards ^_^

thanks for the reply, and that Model says SC-02B. So can i use all the guides for SGS I9000?
Hi there, and congrats for your new phone.
It seems it's the Japanese version (DoCoMo) of the SGS, and among other differences it lacks the front camera.
More details here and here.
Cheers,

Thanks for the links, yes its the Japanese Docomo Model. I have gone through the links and it seems like i cant Root , is it the case ??
From what most of the users here say, yes, it looks like there is no root.
But from what I see here there could very well be a solution. But I really don't know what it says there, my Japanese is zero
I hope you'll find something useful there.
All the best,
V.
You can get root on your SC-02B using the tool found in this thread.

Hi all,
sorry for my noob question but i would like to know, as a first time flasher, what ROM i should flash?
I have a P1000 Australian tab, rooted but thats it.
I would like something that runs faster, smoother and with as few bugs as possible.
With so many options out there i was wondering if people could post there experiences with the different ROMS available through this forum to help me decide which one to try first.
I have some experience in jailbreaking (iphones) hacking the motorola Razor and a few other phones over the years.
Thanks all for your input.
I have a Aussie telatra tab. I'm using overcome, its the best rom at the moment. Give it a try
swyped from a galaxy far far away...
Thanks for the fast reply! just checked out the overcome video, looks great bout to give it a crack.
Please post in the proper section.
Thanks.

+1 on the proper section comment. This section needs a mod.
Any Euro ROM will work on Aussie shipped Tabs. I have an Aussie Optus Tab and use Roto JMIv2, love it.

please help how do i flash to CM7 Gingerbread
Hello all,
I've been reading and downloading from xda for over a year now (sgs- darky's rom mainly), and this is my FIRST POST!
I know i can find my answer just by looking but i really wanted to post for the first time so here's my question- My tab is in the post (got it from ebay as i'm a pauper and can't afford it new, or the 8.9 or 10.1) and obviously want to root it straight away. I've seen that some are using z4 root but my sgs won't accept this method, can i be sure it'll work?
take care fellow "tabbers"
PS the doorbell just rang and it's here! *wets pants and logs off*
What firmware version is it on? Please post complete information from *#1234#

it's 2.2 froyo build number FROYO.XWJJ7
baseband P1000XXJK5
KERNEL 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
PDA- P1000XWJJ7
PHONE- P1000XXJK5
CSC- P1000CPWJJ5
I need to get gingerbread (at least) on this thing straight away! Or any cool roms you can recommend?
How do i find out if it's GSM or CDMA? i'm in the UK... That is probably a really stupid question, but i'm a stupid guy... A stupid guy who loves android and wants to learn more!
Any links to the right places would be really appreciated
First you're not stupid. You're just new and learning.
Second your tab judging by its firmware is gsm european tab.
Third you can root using superoneclick root.
Fourth. Head to the development section and you will find alot of great roms (or click on my sig if you're interested in overcome). JUST BE SURE TO READ ENTIRE GUIDES AND STUDY THEM BEFORE FLASHING ANYTHING.

So many people get themselves into trouble by not reading instructions or skipping ahead.
Easy to get yourself into trouble, can be VERY hard getting out...
Thank you for all the help, most kind I'm at work now so will try some bits tomorrow, managed to get rooted before leaving tho

Your tab is rooted already. Look at the kernal version. In your apps you will see something called Superuser. Tap it. If its there and opens you are rooted.

That's what really confused me, the kernel said root on it, but no super user was there and none of my purchased root apps could aquire root.... so I used super one click as advised and hey presto! Still confused as to why it said that on my kernel tho...

Just out of interest as i'm un-learned, how can you tell if the bootloader is signed? (As far as I can tell) it hasn't affected the rom installation... could it?

Hello. I am new here. Hi y'all.
Before to set up my Apps I would like to set up (no hack) my os/firmware.
What kind of configuration is the most stable, rock solid and fast?
Now I have the default OS setup.
Thanks
I checked and I have froyo 2.2
Just stick with the stock froyo for a while. Theres nothing erring with it.
if you want a safe choice, feel free to use the stock is and only update as manufacturer said. let it be. or if u are adventurous and want to discover some more new thing from the 3rd rom cookers. Joining flashing clubs.

Sure...
Read, read up and read some more. Once you can understand the basics of flashing a custom ROM on a Samsung Tab, then just give what you've read a second run. The Then follow the instructions given by the ROM developers carefully and patiently, not skipping a single step because you "think"/assume it's not necessary.
That would be the most "secure" way to upgrade to a customer ROM! If you're talking about the most secure way to upgrade to a higher version of a secure stock Samsung firmware, then approach their service center and ask them to update it for you... ;-)

I totally agree with ThePitBull's ... their team created a very well documented guide for newbie when it comes to upgrading the Galaxy tab. I've performed a few updates by following STRICTLY to their instructions on the guide, and everything has been good so far..

Update on advice
Hi thanks for posting advice.
I've managed to unlock the phone by using a combination of
Rooting it with Unlock Root via pc
That gave me Superuser (upgraded to pro for £2)
BusyBox Free, Titanium backup Free needed also
Then I was able to use Galaxy S Unlock to save files to sdcard and unlock to any network.:victory:
Now does this mean I'm rooted and don't have to follow all the steps that the link above advices
no need if already got busybox installed

Thanks for comments, can I ask now its rooted do I need to install anything else to allow me to change the Rom's such as newer official ones or once others are raving about.
Thanks.
updating or changing ROM was easy method but deadly also, wrong move will come to brick fone. if u really hav thought it well, juz follow any instruction on xda regarding i9000 after confirming ur device version, backed up baseband, build number n etc involve.
n now u ll need cwm for flashing. find cwm to gain access to recovery n thats where u gonna flash ur custom ROM, but read a lot before doing it as here in Q & A section, many success, also failure posted here, so be sure to read first mate

Congratulations on accomplishing your unlock. Now you might be helped with a good, rich toolbox and clear guides
I'm referring you to some wonderful threads I've come across during similar quests of my own.
(It's all there; but asking the right questions and not seeing the wood for the trees will always remain tricky )
So here are my top three suggestions for your toolbox, in order of importance and relevance. You might find some overlap among them.

As to what ROM to choose, I seriously like to push my own (eventual) ROM of choice, Mackay ROM (Unless gaming on the phone is your thing, which might bring up desires and demands that other ROMs serve even better.)
Good luck!
