How to know what Samsung Galaxy S i am carrying? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
I am new to Samsung Galaxy S World. How can i get to know if my SGS is I9000? Because at the back of my SGS , its written SC-02B.
Thanks

thanks for the reply, and that Model says SC-02B. So can i use all the guides for SGS I9000?

Hi there, and congrats for your new phone.
It seems it's the Japanese version (DoCoMo) of the SGS, and among other differences it lacks the front camera.
More details here and here.
Cheers,
V.

Thanks for the links, yes its the Japanese Docomo Model. I have gone through the links and it seems like i cant Root , is it the case ??

From what most of the users here say, yes, it looks like there is no root.
But from what I see here there could very well be a solution. But I really don't know what it says there, my Japanese is zero
I hope you'll find something useful there.
All the best,
V.

You can get root on your SC-02B using the tool found in this thread.

Samsung galaxy S i9088

Ey guys,
i bought a samsung galaxy s i9088 in china.
I just took a look at the captive wiki and it has the exact same specs and stuff.
I also want to root my phone, should i use the i9000 or captive thread?
or is this phone not able to get rooted?
Thanks, and sorry for my noobiness :<
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2586&c=samsung_gt-i9088_galaxy_s
According to this, it looks to be an i9000 variant. I would refer to the i9000 forum for most things, but rooting is the same across most galaxy S devices.

[Q] Anycall Galaxy S - bricked?

Hello,
my friend got a phone that at first sight i thought its the galaxy s i9000. but its the korean version of it with integrated dbm antenna.
but the problem he had was, that he tried to flash a gingerbread rom (for i9000) but came to me saying the phone does not boot anymore...
so i wanted to flash the correct firmware.. so i downloaded the latest one from http://m110sroms.info/ ...
but when i start the update with odin.. it stops with a FAIL at the very end of the flashing process.. i tried several times with and without closing Odin and with and without ticking repartition.. but it didnt help..
what is the problem? please help..
i downloaded another firmware but didnt worked either..
does he bricked the phone? is it possible to un-brick it?
please answers.. thanks
I don't know a lot about this, but I do know it's almost impossible to permanently brick your phone. So things could work out just fine . However someone with some more knowledge should help you out, since mine is insufficient. GL though.
i just tried almost every single firmware i found for this device but none of them worked
so please, if anyone does know a solution, feel free to post.
Maybe it's not i9000. There is a difference between models like i9000,i9000B... check it behind battery

I don't know if this helps (I can't read Korean and Chrome didn't translate it)
http://kr.samsungmobile.com/notice/anycallpopup/froyo_up.jsp
I got it from here, the comments at the bottom
http://www.samsunghub.com/2010/11/1...d-s-will-get-android-2-2-froyo-from-tomorrow/
This might be worth a look too if you haven't already seen it
http://www.samsunghub.com/tag/shw-m110s/
There's a link to a FROYO torrent here but I can't get page to display right, plus it's in Korean http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ko&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fmatpclub.com%2Fs%2F%3Fmid%3Dpxeboard31%26page%3D1%26document_srl%3D2429204&anno=2
Got it here

And you managed to post your first thread in the most inapproriate section you could possibly find ... this section is about ACCESSORIES while your (badly formatted and colored) post should be in the Q&A section.

OK, good to know its your 1st post, BUT
you managed to post it with the worst font i have ever seen, and its seems you r eye's failed to spot HERE. Upgrading isn't an accessory. This isa question for here
hope you now understand what you did wrong in posting this (in this section)
and good luck
There are a lot of tutorial here, just take a look in Android Development and enjoy yourself.
I wish you had used a better font color.
Anyways , take a look at this for all noob questions about rooting/custom ROMS etc etc

Can I use XDA datas on my tab?

HI guys. I am newbie of here.
Now I am using SHW-M180S which is Galaxy Tab of SK Telecom in Korea. I want to change my booting animation and use other many ROMs or MODs etc… My tab is Rooted. Can I use any XDA datas on Galaxy Tab Original Firmware of Korea? If I can't what should I do? Please help me.
Sent from my SHW-M180S using xda app-developers app
hi
make sure that you know what kind of gtab you have, is it (p1000 or p1000L or p1000N) ..., and then you need to know what (version of android) your tab is running, after that, you should check your (bootloader) , is it protected or not, and finally you can start flashing roms.
hint : the best way to learn about all this stuff is doing your own, personal research. the key words are between brackets, use the search tool of xda and look for those words.
best regards ^_^
Sifou
Thanks for your reply, Sifou.
I think that p1000 and other somethings are Model Number of GLOBAL version Galaxy Tab. But mine is KOREAN version and as I wrote it is SHW-M180S. And my Android version is 2.3.6 GingerBread.
But I dont know about bootloader clearly so I will search over it and try other things by myself.

Thanks for Helping
But unfortunately, I can't find my solutions at the thread. Because I am a Korean, I have Korean Firmware files.
While Searching, I found a bad news.
"Korean's Galaxy Tab(SHW-M180S) and GT-P1000's partition structure is different so if I Flash the ROM data partition does not normally activate "
This is a sentence of the thread which the developer of Korean Community uploaded in XDA. Very Sad. He is asking the solution for other developers so I should find this thread.
dear friend
there is a million way to use your beautiful galaxy tab without flashing it, you can change the launcher, and almost every thing in the interface, icons, wallpapers and so, this device is very useful, and by the way, you have the latest version of gingerbread out of the box, which is great, and as you said, your tab is rooted, which is superb! you can do whatever the google play offers, titanium backup, call recorder, etc...
think about it
i hope that i helped you, i dont want to disappoint you, i just want you to know that your tab is already great without any flashing.
best regards ^_^

Hi, welcome.
That's true, there's some custom rom available for your phone model include BenzRom of course. Just go to development section, you'll found them.
Hey,
Cheers for the welcome... Thanks for the info, I had obviously not searched properly lol. One last question my model number is xxamb1 and the roms say things like xxamb3 and b2? will these work on my phone?
Cheers for the help
Be careful, your phone model is I8190N. Check again if the custom rom is for your phone model.
