I have a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 Euro which I have been painfully trying to get on to CM7 for the last few days. The problem I have is when I flash back to a stock Froyo (2.2.1) my wifi won't connect to wpa connections. This isn't brilliant for me as my home router is secured with WPA and I do not wish to change it, as the people living in my area are all mostly IT specialists and would take advantage of a wep or unsecured network. This is due to the slow speeds we get in our area.
Does anyone know of a way to flash an older rom on to my phone whilst keeping the ability to connect to wifi properly once it is running CM7?
I am currently running a 2.3.3 rom downloaded from samfirmware.com
Thanks in advance for any help
Why is your WiFi-connection 'broken' with Froyo? My router is also secured with WPA and don't have any problems...

This I cannot figure out, I tried everything from enabling/disabling wifi/GPS/BT and wiping and starting all over again. All of these methods resulted in my phone being unable to connect to my WPA secured wifi, any unsecured connection nearby connects straight away. I seem to get stuck in an obtaining IP address loop, which never resolves.
Have you ever tried another modem?

How do I do that? On 3g its a little difficult to download a different modem as the extras for cyanogenmod won't load properly in the ROM Manager app.

A different modem won't help...wifi is controlled by the kernel, not the modem.

Have you tried connecting to a different AP using wpa?
Also, go into advanced wifi and set up a static IP. That may do the trick.

Not Odin. Custom kernels are flashed from recovery as zip files. Very quick and easy.
Tried a few other methods of doing this and every time it gets broken. Are there any other fixes I can use to get wifi to work again? Any files I can modify myself or delete?
Right, managed to convince my other (better?) half to let me try it on her phone as we both got the same phones at the same time. Will post results soon...
Ok, same thing happened with the wifes phone so I decided to dig an old wireless router out of the shed and set it up with WPA security. And the phone then connected. So I'm not entirely happy with the crap that is my BTHomeHub. All in all, I'm now running CM7 RC1 and I'm happy as larry with it
Congratulation!

What's your current rom and kernel? Which kernel did you flash with Odin or CWM?
You could try longpressing the wifi you're connected to and press "Forget", and then reconnect.
I tried all that. I was installed ginger+, also broodrom bussines(sorry if not write correcr) and the same problem. If i using stock rom but only rooted problem still exist. Only if I use stock rom unrooted than works fine.

Not possible, rooting simply tricks the system into mounting r/w so we can pish the such binary/app/busybox. Nothing to do with WiFi ! Did wipe data?

I just said what it is. When I root phone that is what happen. I did full wipe. More times. It is not my first time with rooting and flashing. Before gsp i got x10 mini pro.

What ROM? Try to flash your kernel from another ROM.
Sorry that I up this thread, but I can say I have the exact same problem but with Gingerbread 2.3.4.
My phone is only rooted. No mods or so, a few apps that need root access, that's all. But it had this issue from the beginning, even without root or any non-stock app.
It seems like when I either turn on Wifi or Bluetooth and turn it off and on again in a very short time, it can't be used anymore until I reboot the phone. Waiting more than 10 seconds before turning Wifi/bluetooth on after it was set off doesn't give this issue. Then it only happens one or two times in a week.
When I have my new phone completely in shape I'll start some testing with the Galaxy Mini to see how to get rid of this issue.
Happens the same here. And this problem sucks!
After flashing the cyanmobile X rom (latest official one) my internet stoped working. No data over mobile network (yeah checked the APNs and all) and no internet over wifi either. It connects to wifi but simply no internet. I did a "ifconfig wlan0" which showed that it had the dhcp ip assigned by my router. The problem is not with the router because other android devices are working just fine.
Any solution to this? please help!!
Thank you!
Change baseband. If this happens after a clean install, baseband is the only possibility I know about.

So I have this problem with my Galaxy S Advance... I am connected to my provider's 3g network and in-apps everything works fine but when I enter the browser I don't manage to get connection to the internet. Has anyone had similar sort of problem or anything?

Try with clearing data and cache of Browser from settings/manage apps (or whereever it is, I am not on stock for a long time and I can't remember where it is )
