Even with same hardware phones might show different performance. Depends a lot on how many apps you got installed and how many use background processes.
Your friend might have a higher speed sdcard than you, which makes a big difference. The fastest sdcards are class 10.
You can also try overclocking (not really recommended).
Try Over Clocking. Well not above 921 for sure.
CM Based ROMs overclock well. and stock roms give stability.
They're plenty of roms, go check out the forums. Then just keep a nandroid backup and try which one suits your ace.
One more thing,
Try downloading chainfire 3d and look for the nvidia plugin.
And install the nvidia plugin.
And also download swapper
and set size to 512mb.
That makes the games run smooth.
BTW, I like Pes more than Fifa, coz fifa doesn't have good graphics on ace. it needs to be resized.

That's it, your sd card is the slow one, most games install a bunch of files to the sdcard. Try getting class 6 and up and you'll see a good improvement on performance.
thanx got a SanDisk Ultra Mobile 8GB (Class 6) SD card and everything is fine now :good:

I installed it and it was laggy so I installed chainfire 3d and it greatly improved. However its still quite laggy.
I'm running cm7.2.0 build GWK76 android 2.3.7 with 782mhz oc and have 8gb sd card
Meant to say does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can improve graphics performance so it runs smoothly?
"Ram options for gaming: cm settings - performance - minfree - and choose gaming"
This is something i read some days ago, I don't know if it really works because I don't use Cyanogenmod.

Yes i have smartboot kernel up to 782mhz and governor = performance
check threads on samsung galaxy mini development forum. there you will find ways to overclock your cpu. It all depends on whether you have custom or stock rom =)

You guys are certified idiots... buy better phone and pay for it, or buy pc/ps2 version and play it the way it was meant to...
806MHz OC and Chainfire 3D - lags like hell. I have to agree with yackovsky, buy a better phone... but to be honest, even Galaxy S I9000 has problems running it decently, so better give up right away.
Its better to play on PC rather than searching buttons 240*320 resolution screen

Please tell me more how much you "enjoy" playing games on tiny unresponsive touchscreen :]
so i downloaded the Sims Free Play from the market, downloaded the files over wifi and it starts really fast but the background is all black and the first Sim you make is all "Black"...is anyone playing it and working fine?
I have good news for those who might face a similar problem. i got my game to work by downloading "PowerVR" SD data files, and using ChainFire3D with PowerVR plugin. graphics are amazing but it lags a bit due to our old specs x) but hey, who doesn't love his HD2 still eh? ^.^
what the kernel and CPU MHz u r using?~
hv u try 2 oc 2 1459mhz?~
I'm on Tytung's ICS CM9 version 1.3 SD build...the kernel can only be overclocked to 1190MHz. but it seems enough. i'm running GTA3 well on this build. oh and RAM manager Pro helps a lot.
Hi guys, I got NfsMW working on our HD2's. It's not laggy but the problem is that after about 2 minutes, it just exits. What's the problem? Ram? I think that android turns on it's ****ty apps(for eg. Play store) to "update" them, and then they take too much of ram..
I'd like to see your answers, thanks. Maybe chainfire can solve the problem? Or we should KILL everything with ram manager?
Edit: Forgot to mention, I'm running Aokp jellybean build 3 from xylo on nand.

The new NFS: MW? I highly doubt that works without lag, I've seen the graphics and they're quite heavy for a mobile game. No single core, 404Mb RAM (in Android) phone could run it smoothly. Even Temple Run has a poor framerate. If you mean the old NFS: MW then that runs perfectly for me without lag, and it doesn't close after a while either.

Well, it's not without lag, but it's really playable, I firstly thought that it won't even run. I'll make a short video tommorow if you want. I've found out that I can play it with the ram manager setted to hard gaming.
Yes, it's the new one. HD2 is never going to die.

NFS MW is working on HD2
NFS MW is working on HD2 without any problem! The game is really good. You can watch a short movie from the game, just search on youtube: NFS MW HTC HD2
I play this game on paranoidandroid without overclocking. Only thing you must do is to change build.prop file.
Sorry for my eanglish
I certainly wouldn't say without any problems. The game runs at half the speed it should! Even then, I'm impressed at how smooth it is since it's running on such old hardware.

I'm impressed too. That good game on this phone, it's a miracle
Do you have a problem like me: You're racing and suddenly the game crashes because of GPU, RAM?
If you don't, how did you fixed it? I tried with that ram manager pro setted to hard gaming but I don't think it's due RAM.
When installed chainfire3d, it crashed my phone so I had to reflash my rom(stupid man forgot to backup current).
Hi there, I got a question! Where I can find the right NFS:MW for the HTC HD2? I got the game but when I try to download the files which he need I got the windows where they saing "The Device is not Compatible"

If you have the softbuttons activated, it won't download because of that.
I'll upload apk to dropbox and send you a pm.
And yes, problem was rom, not the game. We have strong enough gpu and enough ram to run it. I'm playing on paranoid 1.5b without problems.

Devs will probably make some patches with light effects that will work on every device that can run the game(eg. like Dead Trigger..).
It plays on the Hd2... But then there is a lot of difference running it on my note 2 and Asus tf300

I managed to run it smoothly without those effects with normally downloaded data for Desire HD. However, after 2 weeks, the effects for POWERVR devices (better textures, lightning effects etc) activated, so it lagged horribly.

Hi , that´s my opinion
Twice 10.1 or JB port , have a problem with battery duration (and other minor bugs)
the game play are so laggy ,and you really have a slow experience with diary use.
AOkp I think that is trustworthy to the JB use. but the same with lag .
Thanks for your work !!!! and I hope you get new roms updates.
Sorry for my english...
jelly bean requires a lot of more RAM than GB. That's why there is some lag, I suggest to use smartassv2 as CPU governor if you need performance, if you need to save battery use interactiveX.

Is it possible to fix the camera now?. Since preview problem seems to be known now?
i tried installing cm-10.1-20130629-UNOFFICIAL-jena today but get an error 7.
factory reset, cache partition and dalvik cache have been wiped, i`m using cwm 6.0.3.2.
versioncm-10.1-20130611-UNOFFICIAL-jena works without any problems.
what could i be doing wrong ?
edit: i returned to the working version and flashed it new because i finally wanted to get rid of the gapps package i installed before.
however even after flashing 0611 again gapps still seem to be on my system.
do i have to wipe anything else i`m not aware of ? the target is a cyanogen 0611 or 0629 without any gapps
do you have cwm 6.0.3.2 build 4 ?
ohh! it`s build 3 actually!
thx a lot! will give it a try at once
no problem
it worked perfectly thanks again!
the only thing i`m still facing is that gapps still seem to be on the system from a previous installation, although i wiped the 3 settings mentioned above.
is 0629 supposed to have the play store, services and other google named services? can i get rid of them somehow?
edit: solved, i had to format /system /data /cache. now gapps and other parts of the previous installations are definitely gone. happy happy!
The performance greatly depends on the game you're playing. Currently with CM10 20130629 (the NFC patch doesn't work, BTW) I have good performance with Icy Tower 2, but micro lags on Jetpack Joyride. Of course both of these games run perfectly on stock, but Icy Tower 2 has some graphical glitches not appearing on JB. But Jetpack Joyride is a lazy port from iOS and it can stutter even on better phones. But the overall performance is just fluid. Will test Vice City later to see if a lot has changed since April 2013, when I lastly tested VC on CM10.
those "micro lags" are because of RAM. I had an old PC with 256MB (!) RAM like 5-6 years ago, when I played NFSMW, I would get freezes/lags each 3-5 seconds, the loading screen took ages to load, then I put in another 512MB and everything was fine. No lags/freezes, loading screens didn't load forever etc.
On cm10 and cm9 for less ram usage i went to Developer options, scrolled to the bottom and set background processes to 1 or 0.
There are no these options on cm10.1, right? I dont know did you mean slow ramread/write or high usage with old pc example...
Sent from my GT-S6500D using xda app-developers app
Ahh...the old-school NFSMW - one of my favorite games of all time.
But Android manages RAM differently than Windows, so 512MB shouldn't be a problem because it runs file on stock 2.3.6.
Looks like Jetpack Joyride stutters when there are certain sprites drawn. Seems to be some kind of GPU thing. If GTA VC runs better than this, I'll uninstall this crap.
That was just an example that RAM matter a lot in games. Temple Run 2 uses >100MB. Imaging what more demanding games require. I have about ~50-60MB free RAM when the phone is idle.
I have 210 at idle and still same lag and low fps as it is when 120 is free
Edit: cm9 has more than 100mb/s faster ram read speed than cm10, .1, aokp. And it has performance as good on 800mhz as cm10 has at 1.05ghz. Stock rom read is 500 mb/s, cm9 450, cm10 350
Sent from my GT-S6500D using xda app-developers app
Well, looks like that's the problem. I noticed that actually earlier when people were posting benchmark results, everything was higher than on stock, except for the RAM speed.
I guess there's nothing to do about it? It's all in the kernel.
Probably gpu performance depends on ram speed... So improving ram speed will improve gaming performance and overal performance of the device in cm9, cm10, cm10.1 and aokp.

thanks for your job TheWhisp CM 10.1 is awesome like you thank you very much
I don't know which games you play but I play various gba roms and hacks via my boy emulator and it is very smooth. those temple run etc. do not appeal to me. If they were then probably I would have bought a better phone. but know this. Mini 2 is not a phone to play games.
oh and a question to @TheWhisp cm10.1 or aokp. whats the difference. which one do you prefer?
You fixed camera using same liboemcamera?

So beyond updating to the latest 4.4 roms theres not alot i or anyone can do.
For gaming im recommending the p880-dev kernel, seems to pull the highest 3D scores in antutu at the lowest frequencies.
Games will continue to get more demanding, while our phones performance is not going to receive proportional performance increases. Any gaming platform will have this issue.
and no, an sdcard will not improve performance, rather will possibly load the game faster
got it then.....
tnx
