No 3g signal after successful unlock GDX | alfs | 015 - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. Sorry if this is the wrong section.
I have an e15a xperia x8 11v14 (perfectly unlockable)
The thing is that i wanted to update to gingerdx v28 from scratch so i went back to stock settings ( rom 2.1, no addons, original baseband, etc).
I followed all the steps to do a clean install
Installed e15a 015 baseband
Unlocked the phone with s1tool and msm7227_semc (before doing this it still showed e15a model, after this it started showing e15i)
Installed alfs kernel
Installed rom Gingerdx
Installed addons
blah blah
Pretty straight forward :good:
Now the thing is that i dont have 3g signal at all, so i went to check the baseband and it was half correct, like i said before it ended in 015 but my model said it was an e15i. Correct me if i'm wrong but i think e15i are models from europe so that would explain why 3g would't work (i'm from south america).
I tried to restore the phone using seus or pcc, with no luck (it kept saying that my phone was updated ).
I got all stock kernels, roms, basebands from stickies in XDA so i don't think that could be the problem.
Somehow AFTER i unlocked the phone the model changed and i cant change it back (tried rooting, flashtool, relock and so on)
Everything else works like a charm, very smooth, very fast, no complaints.
Any ideas about how change with another method cuz now i can't go back to my original e15a model.
PS: apn settings are OK too

Well i dunno if somehow this will be useful to anyone but i SOLVED the problem.
These are the steps i followed (IN THIS EXACT ORDER)
Before unlocking it root it with flashtool
Verify with s1tool it's locked (here's the post i used to do the unlocking http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436957)
If everything is cool proceed to this:
install baseband 015 (for e15a model in my case)
install alfs kernel (latest for GDX)
install rom (latest GDX)
install alfs addon
full wipe
wipe davilk cache
wipe battery cache
enjoy
Anyway thanks to all for reading this post, hope it helps to people with my same problem.
PROBLEM SOLVED

Hey pal !
If you bricked your phone you should check this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011071
About the baseband, first u should check which baseband is correct for you. Phones in America use different frequency ranges than phones in Europe so, to begin with i'd need u to tell me where the phones was sold...anyway, most cooked roms need 015 baseband to be flashed instead of the 006. Check in your phone settings if your device model is E15a (a is for America) or E15i (i is for International, but mostly Europe).
For example: if your phone is E15a you should flash E15a_X8a_2.1.1.A.0.6_Baseband_015 in order to install any cooked rom.
You can find almost everything you'll need here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425240
BTW just in case check this thread to avoid hard bricking http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481630
Good luck !

Hello,
I have no problem with 3G, but problem with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, both not running. I have a Xperia X8 e15a, with Cyanogenmod 7.1 and FXP030 kernel, do I need to install stock kernel?
Or if I install Alfs kernel would it slove my problem?
My smatphone was unlock successful, from 11W12.
Thanks.

Hey buddy
I strongly recommend gingerdx, it's the most stable rom i've tested and you have the choice to use a stock kernel or a modded one (like alfs or naa), plus there's a great guide to install it. Everything you need to do the correct steps is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486

[Q] Error while installing custom roms

On my Sony Ericsson W8 I can't install kyuaDroid, GingerXperia, MiniCM and etc. I can only install GingerDX and FroyoBread. When I try to install the roms which I mentioned above all (except GingerDX and FroyoBread) are giving error like this " This rom is not compactable with your baseband. Update first to M7XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015".
But I have the SAME baseband.
How to solve it ?
My W8 is rooted and has Unlocked bootloader. What should. I do ? I should change kernel ? Or something?
As I'm a noob I don't know How to solve this.. So please help me as soon as possible.
Wow, no one replied? I'm having the same problem mate...

some roms need to be installed with cwm not xrecv, and custom kernels too, perform a fullwipe before and after flashing any rom
I found the same problem. I use CWM and it works for me fine in installing different ROM's

[Q] Any Wifi Fix? GingerXperia V30B Based On CM7

Ok guys I've have just downloaded and installed this ROM I found called GingerXperia V30B from http://tux8newblog2012.wordpress.com/2012/04/03/gingerxperia-v30-stock-kernel/ (Sorry website is in spanish, you can translate it if you wanna read it).
So I installed this ROM with nAa custom GingerBread Kernel based on stock 2.6.29 SE sources ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484 )
I also have CWM installed and everything else clean.
I also full wiped before installing both the ROM and Kernel (Installed ROM first).
Also installed the V30C update including on the first thread mentioned.
The problem is that when I go to wifi settings and click to enable Wifi it just says "error" under wifi. Like Cyanogenmod 9 without the wifi fix.
So my question is, does anyone know any fix for this ROM?
I don't really wanna change ROM since it's a great ROM as far as I've seen including (fake)MultiTouch.
Anyone?
I did'nt even know there was a GingerXperia v30
But on topic i dont know how to fix this hence the first sentence maybe its something with the ROM?

This ROM is for stock kernel, not nAa! That's why WIFI (and propably vibrations too) doesn't work

[Q] Can bootloader be unlocked with GDX v025?

I read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436957
but i don't have the stock ROM, and was wondering if i can unlock the bootloader on GDX v025. I have a W8 with 11W20 and i plan on installing MiniCM9. Also, i read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24304432
What does he mean about flashing it to Gingerbread ROMs? I'd appreciate the help.
And is getting the stock ROM as simple as downloading it and then flashing it with CWM? and will i need to update it to the latest basebands or is there one already updates that's available?
Thanks

It's is highly advisable to be on stock ROM. Just flash it via PCC/SEUS. Why this is required , I don't know. But always people recommend unlocking on stock ROM. I too would therefore recommend the same. Get back to stock ROM
Don't risk it by unlocking on GDx v025
What he means that the kernel is meant for ICS ROMS only and is NOT meant for GB or stock ROMS
Another thing
So...
1) Flash Stock Rom using SEUS (will this be the one with the latest baseband and will my phone still be rooted?)
2) Unlock Bootloader while on Stock Rom (as stated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436957)
3) Flash ICS kernel while on Stock Rom (as stated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24304432)
4) Flash MiniCM9 (as stated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575094)
Am i right?
Also, is it necessary to install all to Google Apps which nAa has provided a link to?
And where does the currently rooted state of my phone lie in all of this?
Thanks

Not sure about SEUS , but if you use PCC , your phone gets unrooted.
I guess both ways, you have to root again. But that's not a cumbersome task. Just use superoneclick and then place xrecovery files in /system/bin
Just make sure that after flashing the kernel , you flash the ROM directly after it. If you reboot your phone after flashing the kernel , you will encounter a soft brick.
It is not necessary , but recommended. I would suggest that you flash Gapps (Google Apps) , and then manually remove the applications you do not want by using apps like "Root Uninstaller" from the Play Store.
I did not understand your last question.
I am 99.999% sure of what all I told you is correct. However , since I have a locked bootloader , I might have missed somewhere (I'm sure I have not though)
I unlocked my 11w18 with GDX , no problems

Change Model Number

I just installed GingerElite V2 on my X8 and have had a good experience with it. But I just noticed one issue that keeps bugging me, in the about phone settings the model number is displayed as E16i which is wrong as I have the E15i. I tried changing the build.prop file but it keeps restoring the E16i model name, is there any permenant way of fixing this?
PS: I changed the build.prop with root access so it is not about my modifications being rejected-its the system restoring the default value.
Also I have done research but could not find any help.
I use gingerelite v3...it is the same, maybe can't change.

Not sure about this, but is there 2 build.prop files in GingerElite? One in /system and one in /system/bin? Change both if this is the case.

as u say u tried CM10 4.0.2 ICS Rom. u must have unlocked Boot loader and custom nAa - jb kernel ( ana JB xxxx )
flash the stock kernel. relock boot loader with s1 tool
Be careful don't lock bootloader with cutom kernel. First flash stock kernel and then lock it.
locking the bootloader wtih custom kernel will brick your phone.
and then revert back to stock ROM
Procedure Sony companion ,
1. install Sony PC companion on computer.
2. click support zone with out connecting the phone. & follow
3. select X8 from list and follow instructions.
let me know for if you need these stock files

Another Method ( give it a try )
1. go to recovery
2. format all partitons ( including system )
3. reflash desired kernel
4. flash desired ROM
let me know if it works.....

How to start from "zero"?

Hello, I'm kinda newbie at this...
I have an Xperia X8 e15a with manufacturing date 11W11 @ stock kernel, running with GDX v026.
but lately I've noticed that my phone is too slow... even when I get incoming calls, its hard to slide the bar and answer them, so I want to know how can I speed up my phone. I'm thinking of changing the ROM to PrimeHD or other ROM that is faster.
I also think of the possibility of changing to a custom kernel but I'm afraid of bricking it because I remember this phone was from X company and I entered a code on internet and now it works for Y company, so I don't know if thats a real SIM unlock (bootloader unlocking says the phone must be sim unlocked). Oh... and I wonder if I could make a swap partition... I don't really know how to do it, I've just made them on my PC so I'm not sure if I can do it on my phone.
I feel like my phone is messy... I've seen 2 kinds of recovery tools and I just wanna have one (CWM and xRecovery). Does full wipe delete them? I would like to go back to the very begginig (without unrooting lol) and then change everything from the start :S.
Thanks.
PD: long story short:
What ROM is fast?
how can I make a swap partition?
can I unlock the bootloader to have a custom kernel? (having in mind that I introduced a code online to "unlock" my SIM)

2 you can try yourself there is no perfect rom for everbody
You need a partition on your sd for use swap

IMO you don't need swap at all for GB.
Still if you want to, use it with a class 6 or 10 sdcard
Need help installing Recovery on Stock kernel
Hello All,
I was using CyanogenMod7 @ FXP kernel and had reverted back to Stock Kernel + Rom. Now I just want to try Custom ROMS over STOCK Kernel but couldn't find a way to install CWM on Stock Kernel for my W8 Device.
I want to use FDE 4+, but that too requires CWM to be installed over Stock Kernel, and I seriously don't know how to do this.
Someone please provide me a link/tutorial/guide to do the same.

Maybe you should give GDX another try, now that you have unlocked your bootloader. I used to use GDX with stock kernel, but like 14days ago I unlocked my bootloader and flashed ALFS kernel for GDX and now the ROM is like it never was before, super smooth and fast.
